Mail 6.3 will not close and won't open an interactive window
A day or so ago I tried deleting about 4 messages off mail and then shut the app. A note came up and stated the messages could not be sent to the delete folder and then proceeded to close the window but the application remained as opened. I tried to quit the app from the dock but it wouldn't close it. I then tried shutting the system down and mail stopped it from closing. I have a Mac Book Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and tried to let the battery drain to let shut down that way to no avail. I've tried opening another window in Mail but it won't open a functional window (preview screen will not display highlighted message). How do I force a close or bring mail back to use it properly?

hi, i can connect to the internet but mail will not download and i cannot open a webpage?? any ideas
Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

I am trying to upgrade to Mavericks from 10.6.8. It tells me to close all open applications. However, Safari will not close and the installation cannot proceed. Any suggestions?
Either try to force quit Safari (press Command + Option + Escape keys and then choose force quit in the pop up window), or, you can also shut down the computer. Then boot up and open the app store application to download Mavericks - you don't need Safari for it.

The first tab will not close, and often does not load all of a page.
When I open firefox, the first tab always has 'search bookmarks and history' in the address bar, instead of the url of my homepage, and it will not close.
While trying to figure out a solution, I removed my themes and I closed the tabs I could, then clicked on the new tab button, doing so changed my original tab into an (Untitled) tab and created a new (Untitled) tab. I then found I couldn't close either tab, I clicked on new tab again, got a third (Untitled) tab, which again I couldn't close. I then closed Firefox choosing not to save. This appears to have fixed the problem; however I do not know which of the above action(s) resolved it.

The addons window will not close, and comes up with firefox
I recently re-installed java, and when i opened firefox the add-ons window opened with it. the Add-ons window will not close without closing firefox, and turning the pc off, using ctr+alt+del wont work. any assistant will be greatly appreciated
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

So, I'm currently trying to update my parent's computer and in the process of updating their Mail application it has become unusable. My computer at home (not my parents computer) ran into the same problem before I updated to Lion and deleting the preferences for Mail solved it. Plus, I have read previous posts about this similar problem and a typical troubleshooting solution was to delete the Mail preferences.
After all of my software updates (Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8) and deleting the preferences for Mail, I still receive the same error message when trying to open the application. "Mail can't be used on this version of mac OS X. Try opening the version of Mail located in the Applications foler on your computer." My applications folder has not been adjusted, edited or even touched from it's original state in the dock/home folder.
I contacted AppleCare support and they advised me to reformat my computer. I think that's a little... unneccesary?? It's just Mail that isn't working. The rest of the applications (e.g. Safari, Address Book, iPhoto, etc.) open just fine.
After a second call to AppleCare, they had advised me differently than before. Once they found out that my personal computer has Mac OS X Lion installed from the App Store, they suggested I simply upgrade my parents computer to Lion.
So, I used my download from the App Store and upgraded. It went smoothly, but Mail still will not open properly. And instead of the original error message, it comes up with this:
"Check with your developer to make sure Mail can work with your version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Check if there are any updates available for the application."
How can I re-install just Mail? A startup disk is not accessible for me right now. Can I download the latest version of Mail and install it from the Apple.com website?Applesince822 wrote:
Do we get money back if it no longer opens?
Certainly not without going through basic troubleshooting steps first. Many times some basic troubleshooting will fix things. If you haven't tried anything yet, you cannot say for sure that the app will not work at all.
There are a number of things in here that you can try.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
In a worst case scenario, you can always delete the app and download it again and see if it will work. You will not be charged again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought the app with. -
My camera is not working. The shutter closes and won't open
WHat do I need to do to get the shutter open to take pictures again. When I go to camera, it clicks like taking a picture, but then the shutter closes and it won't open again and there is no picture take ?
Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Safari will not close and will not allow the computer to shut off. Problem?
My safari program, which I haven't used since I bought this computer, will not shut down and then will not let me shut down my computer. What should I do?
Go to the Apple Menu (click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen)......select (Force Quit) and shutdown Safari from there....and then shut the MacBook down.....

I'm using Mac OSX with Firefox 5, but also had this problem with Firefox 4.
I use an external monitor as my primary monitor and my laptop monitor as a secondary. When the window is on the secondary monitor, I can't open new windows to do things such as view source and manage bookmarks.
Any solutions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Both Firefox and IE have the same problem. The cursor instead of being a finger when pointing to a link is still an arrow. However I can click anywhere on the page and an ad will pop up. I have eliminated all unwanted bars in Firefox, I ran Malwarebytes until it came out clean. I also have AVG which had detected a few items on it's own. But when I get into Firefox I still have exactly the same problem. Now it will not let me download Browser Safeguard. Usually after one click the pointer returns to normal for a few screens. When I try to click to download Browser Safeguard it keeps bringing up different ads or it tries to get me to upgrade Firefox or some other browser helper program which I know are all BS tactics to get me to load their junk again. PLease help I'm an engineer and pretty good with PCs but this one has me beat at least so far.

Bridge will not close and I cannot uninstall it
I have re-installed CS5 and Bridge from my CD after a new Hard Drive fitting but now when I try to install my plug-ins I get message 'Please close Bridge.exe. before continuing but it is not open. I am running Windows 7.
I have tried uninstalling it from the 'Uninstall Programmes' list but it does not show up there, so I tried to uninstall CS5 but get the same message. I am sure that on my previous hard drive Bridge was listed as a separate programme but not now.
Can anyone help please?
Bridge works normally when I am using CS5.Are you sure Bridge is not running in the background? Open Task Manager and have a look.
(If you specidfied to start Bridge at logon it won't stop running when you close the program) -
I have tried everything that I know to uninstall the new version of Firefox. I also installed Aurora beta and it had the same behavior and I was able to uninstall that. I cannot open a ff browser to work on it using much of your support information. I click on icon but it does not start on the desktop but task manager shows it as running. I have to end task in task manager to close it. I can't uninstall it and have tried system restore but that also doesn't work because of another issue with my antivirus program.
If this is on a Windows computer, check this Microsoft link;

Notification Center open and will not close and......
My desktop that I installed Win 10 Tech Preview on one day had the Notification Center open down at the bottom right and when clicked on it show "otifications" no new notifications .... my antivirus Software McAfee LifeSafe no longer will work
and when I do a search for anything.. all the letters and words are either jumbled or missing letters as in the "otification" center.Since Windows 10 Technical Preview is just a "beta" version, there are certain amount of compatibility issues when it comes to 3rd party programs.
Heck, we can't even play DVD in Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Player is a MS product.
Avast, as I understand it, is not compatible either.
Perhaps McAfee is facing the same issue. You might want to ask the people in McAfee support forum about the compatibility matter.
I have a laptop running Win 10 build 9860 as the only OS in the system.
I am using the build-in Windows Defender as "real time" protection, and Malwarebytes (free edition) as "on demand" protection. So far, I have no security issue.
As to letters and text garbled or missing, you need update KB3008956
installed.
Go to your Windows Update > click Check for updates >find and install that update. -
First tab will not close and address bar in tab does not update.
The first tab and its address bar are not working as expected. I am unable to close the first tab using the close icon on the tab or by selecting close tab from right click menu.
I also find that the address bar when displaying the first tab does not display the current web address, only text that has been previously written into the address bar field.

Hi, I work in a school with 204 slot loading iMacs. They are G3/450 DV machines running OS 9.2.2. They all had 2 65 meg RAM sticks. We took one 64 out and put a 256 meg RAM stick in each. Most of them responded well to the upgrade, but about 40 of th
