Mail 7.0 not acting properly...
Recent up-grade to OS X 10.9 and now the new Mail doesn't allow me to send Group emails - what gives?? I have customized my Mail window to show the Contacts icon in the header but when I select Contacts I cannot click and drag Groups or individual addresses into the To:, Cc:, or Bcc: fields. If I select any of these fields I get a blue '+' at the right side of the field and when I click on the '+' I get a drop-down of the Contacts but I still cannot click on a Group to add it to the selected field. The only solution seems to be to click on the individual names in the drop-down list and then select the actual email addresses - one at a time. This is a real pain in the butt and very time consuming... THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!! This was NOT a problem with OS X 10.8 and earlier.

Has anyone had this problem. I just deleted and reinstalled
FW because my toolbars will not expand on the ones that have
groupings, for example, the rectangle tool. It should expand to
show me many polygon shapes. All the grouped ones will not expand
when it is acting this way. Sometimes I can get it to work properly
but lately it is very frustrating. I have to keep clicking on it in
different places. MX 2004 version. Time to upgrade I guess. That's a problem at the server end, not at your end. If your mail can't be delivered, the server should send back some sort of error message. If it doesn't, that might be because your mail is being flagged as spam, or it might be for some other reason.

Installed new hard drive, mail re-install not working properly...
Hi - I replaced the hard drive in my laptop. Before doing that, I backed up my mail folder and my mail preferences folder to a DVD. Now, after installing OSX on the new hard drive, I've copied the file / folder onto the new drive, but mail isn't working properly. It keeps giving me the "welcome" screen instead of just starting up. It wants me to put in my email addresses, etc. Seems like there's a switch somewhere in the OS that tells it this is the first time its been run. If I go through the process, it still doesn't get my preferences right.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
The files / folders I'm copying are:
- Home > Library > Mail
- Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist
thanks,
daveProblem was not with mail but with Toast and the DVD I burned using it - arggh.

Mail merge fields not displaying properly - Dollar signs and percentages
Hi folks,
I don't know much about mail merging, so I have a question. I have most things working on my merge, but need help with a couple of minor items (I hope). I have an Excel 2010 spreadsheet that we use for merging to a Word 2010 document.
It has various fields such as name, address, city, etc. It also has a field for a dollar amount formatted to two decimal places and showing the $ sign in Excel (ex. $67,000.00), but when it gets merged into the Word document, it displays as 67000.
It doesn't pull the $ nor the decimal point and cents.
I also have the same thing with a percentage (Ex. 6.00%), displays in the Word document as .006.
I think I have everything else working, but can't figure out how to format these items in the Word document to display properly. Any advice?
MikeIf you insert the fields
{ MERGEFIELD Total_NB_Premium_away_from_Plan }
and
{ MERGEFIELD Total_Premium_of_Team_Sales_Target }
directly in your mail merge main document, outside an IF field, not nested in an { = } field, with no formatting switches, what results do you see?
Word will only apply a numeric format to things that it decides are numeric (broadly speaking, that includes numeric and currency amounts that it can recognise). It will leave anything else unformatted. So if you have something that looks a bit like a number
like "$-164,209.00", the chances are that Word will leave it exactly as it is.
When Word does not recognise something as being a number or a valid numeric expression, it will generally display one error or another when you try to put it in an { = } field. So, e.g.
{ =$-164,209.00 } would give you the syntax error that you are seeing. (Assuming "$" is set up as the currency symbol in your COntrol Panel's regional options. If the regional currency symbol was £, you would see a different syntax error.)
The problem in this case probably originates in something that has happened in Excel. Normally, things that are numeric/currency in Excel come through as things that Word treats as numeric. But if for example, someone has entered a number formatted as text
in a column that has texts rather than numbers above it, Word may receive something that it does not think is numeric. You may have to fix your sheet before Word will "see" the numbers correctly.
When you have got to the point where WOrd sees the numbers correctly, you should be able to use
{ MERGEFIELD
Total_NB_Premium_away_from_Plan} \#$,0.00 }
(and the negative numbering formats if you want) without nesting the { MERGEFIELD } inside an { = }

Mail attachment (pdf) not showing properly as preview
Just recently I've received a pdf attachment that showed some (hidden) layers visible in preview. Opening it in Acrobat reader shows no problem.
Other computers and systems in the company also handle the file properly. No one else sees it the way I see it on my computer.Sorry you're having this problem. I think it was previously reported only by Windows XP users.
When you reinstall, were you making Firefox your default browser? Some users have reported that ''not'' making Firefox the default browser was an effective workaround.
However, you may have success with this approach, suggested by a user in another thread, which appears to more thoroughly update the Windows registry:
# Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat
# Edit->Preferences
# In the Categories column click 'General'
# Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
# In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
# A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.
Does that resolve the issue for you? -
Mail Program Will Not Quit Properly
have a brand new iMac 20" and a new .Mac account. My son has an older PowerBook G4 and a separate .Mac account of his own. We both experience the same problem on our Macs...
Sometimes when we use Mail to check our .Mac e-mail after we are done using the program we go to quit the program. Sometimes, not all the time, the program window closes (it disappears from the screen) but the little triangle still stays under the Mail icon and the word Mail stays in bold in the top left-hand corner indicating that the program is still open. It will stay that way for hours if we let it.
The only way we know to get rid of this is to force quit Mail but we are assuming that is the wrong way and/or does damage. My son's PowerBook is somewhat older, but has barely any e-mails in his account. My iMac is brand new (as is my .Mac account) and has very few e-mails as well.
What seems to be causing this and how can we fix it? I am unable to shut down my Mac until I force quit Mail... otherwise when I go to shutdown nothing happens.
Thank you.See the topic linked below, and those further referenced within it. I think you are having the same problem -- let me know what you think.

Mac mail rules do not display properly
I use Mac Mail rules to manage my mail, but I am having trouble using them because, many time the "Perform the following actions:" display gets so scrunched together that I cannot see what I've already entered or, if I'm editing a rule, what needs to be changed (see image capture, below). This does not happen with every rule but it happens on many of them. It occasionally (but less often) happens with the conditions entries too.
I've had this problem for some time, but it's gotten much worse since I upgraded to Yosemite.
Another problem I'm having with the mail rules is that sometimes the "Stop evaluating rules" option is grayed out and I can't enter it as an action.
Does anyone know how to fix this?Hi wret audio,

Mail and safari not working properly
So i had not used my laptop in about a week because of an issue with safari that was driving me crazy. When i get to https sites (totally random) have a box to enter something like a cc number or address as i start to type safari gives me the busy wheel for infinity...let it sit for hours one day, never stopped. had to force quit. relaunched, same thing on the same box. cleared history and cache, rebooted and tried again..same thing.
happened on multiple websites on random boxes where i needed to enter some info, was always on a https site though.
Second issue, went to use my computer again, launched mail. none of my accounts are syncing. iCloud, exchange, gmail..all show most up to date from the last time i used it over a week ago. let it sit for hours, still no sync. got it to update by taking all accounts offline then back online. went to send a test message. hit the send button and mail locked up completely!!Date/Time: 2014-08-23 12:03:42 -0400

Mail Application Does Not Quit Properly
I have a brand new iMac 20" and a new .Mac account.
Thank you.Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Email not acting properly....
All of the sudden, when I attempt to send an email to anyone with a domain name ([email protected]) instead of internet service provider ([email protected]), the email does not go through.... It appears "sent" on my end, but recipient never gets it. What happened???
That's a problem at the server end, not at your end. If your mail can't be delivered, the server should send back some sort of error message. If it doesn't, that might be because your mail is being flagged as spam, or it might be for some other reason.

Multiprovider is not acting properly
Hi Gurus,
Need some help on the following issue.
A multiprovider built on 4 cubes and profit centre info objects. For a new reporting requirement on this multiprovider, i had to filter based on navigational attribute. i found after filtering using that navigational attribute one key figure is not populating in the report at all. After detail analysis on the issue i found that the navigatinal attribute is enabled on the multiprovider level but in one of the cube where the unpopulated key figure is based, the navigational attribute is not enabled. So, i enabled the navigational attribute on the cube level. But the key figure is still not populating in the report.
I did the list cube both on multiprovider and on the infocube,
In the infocube's listcube the navigatinal attribute is populating along with key figure.
In the multiprovider's listcube i choose all the field along with field infoprovider to see from which cube data is coming.
I found that navigational attribute is populating for all the cube except for the infocube where the key figure is based on.
I have done some analysis in RSRT using the report. I have run the report with multiprovider explain option. It shows in the infocube some genenal restriction for the navigational attribute. That is why the navigatinal attribute is excluded.
Please help me.Hi Mitu,
Right click on the navigational attribute in the multiprovider and choose identify/assign.
Check the assignment of the navigational attribute of the infoprovider(cube) with respect to the navigational attribute of the multiprovider.
The checkbox for the assignments should be checked for all the four infocubes.
Hope it helps,
Best regards,
Sunmit. -
Position keyframes for titles not acting properly; keep moving backwards near end keyframe
I have no clue what in teh world is going on here. i will set a keyframe in the beginning for the titles initial start point. Move ahead 2 seconds. Set a keyframe. Move the title to where I want it. Play it back, and then right before the end keyframe, the title will go the complete opposite direction if I have another keyframe ahead of it I want it to go to. So yeah, it moves back then moves forwards to the next keyframe. Please help me understand this lunacy.
Having recently encountered this issue, I searched the web for a solution and stumbled upon this thread, which to my surprise was not only left unanswered, but also seemed to be the only search result that was directly relevant to my problem. Luckily, I was able to adapt some advice from a similar situation. Since I finally discovered a solid method, I figured I would offer my knowledge to anyone else treading the same path as me.
I guess they call something like this a "wobbly" keyframe. In After Effects, someone gave the advice to right click and change the temporal interpolation to LINEAR. In premiere, I noticed that they were ALREADY linear, but then I recalled Shooternz post about a spatial ease.
Highlight ALL the keyframes, right click, then select Spatial Interpolation and click on Linear. This should solve the issue. You can then add eases and such to meet your goals.
I knew from the beginning that it must have been an invisible knot in the bezier curves. I pulled the bars in every direction, but all it did was tighten or loosen the knot, causing the motion to speed up or slow down, but it would always hit the knot and reverse before continuing forward. You know how Illustrator will create crazy-looking lines when you try to add too many points with strong curves? Well the same logic applies to this, but Premiere has a much more difficult interface when dealing with bezier curves. In other words, by getting rid of the extra curves instead of trying to fix them like you can in Illustrator, it fixes the problem much more easily.
I hope I helped to clarify the issue and help you understand the logic of what went wrong, so you can move on now and perhaps adapt this knowledge to future obstacles. -
Shipping / Mailing labels are not working properly in PayPal.
Just spoke with PayPal in Arizona and it seems Windows 10 isn't doing what we expect when in comes to creating Shipping Labels using PayPal. The label prints with VOID and SAMPLE even though the other information is correct. Anybody any experience. I've tried Firefox, IE, Edge........none are working properly

Mail Application will not open after 10.6.8 update
So, I'm currently trying to update my parent's computer and in the process of updating their Mail application it has become unusable. My computer at home (not my parents computer) ran into the same problem before I updated to Lion and deleting the preferences for Mail solved it. Plus, I have read previous posts about this similar problem and a typical troubleshooting solution was to delete the Mail preferences.
After all of my software updates (Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8) and deleting the preferences for Mail, I still receive the same error message when trying to open the application. "Mail can't be used on this version of mac OS X. Try opening the version of Mail located in the Applications foler on your computer." My applications folder has not been adjusted, edited or even touched from it's original state in the dock/home folder.
I contacted AppleCare support and they advised me to reformat my computer. I think that's a little... unneccesary?? It's just Mail that isn't working. The rest of the applications (e.g. Safari, Address Book, iPhoto, etc.) open just fine.
Anyway, do you have any advice or insight to my problem here?
Much appreciated! Thanks! After a second call to AppleCare, they had advised me differently than before. Once they found out that my personal computer has Mac OS X Lion installed from the App Store, they suggested I simply upgrade my parents computer to Lion.
So, I used my download from the App Store and upgraded. It went smoothly, but Mail still will not open properly. And instead of the original error message, it comes up with this:
"Check with your developer to make sure Mail can work with your version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Check if there are any updates available for the application."
How can I re-install just Mail? A startup disk is not accessible for me right now. Can I download the latest version of Mail and install it from the Apple.com website? -
