Mail 7.1- Reduce window size in a new email

I'm having problems reducing the window size when writing a new email. Mail 7.1 does not let me reduce the window size once I introduce a email address.

Sorry, I didn't mean maximized in the way the window is fullscreen. I have the window in a normal size 2/3 of the screen - then press CMD+H to hide it. When a mail comes in Mail goes back from hide mode to window mode - very strange. And it is only on emails on my first account. When an email on my MobileMe account arrives it stays hidden in the dock.
Maybe it is because I installed FlagIt from http://www.tastyapps.com - a little addon to mark emails with colores and flags. Will check this.

Unfortunately there isn't official commercial support for Mozilla Thunderbird from Mozilla Corp.. I believe some contributors here ([http://mozilla.magicfab.ca myself included]) do offer such support, though.

Regarding your issue, it looks like the mail folder information may be corrupt. In the left pane, in the folder list, right-click on the Sent folder and select '''Properties'''. Choose "'''Rebuild Index'''" or "'''Repair Folder'''" - do you even have that option? Once done, exit TB completely and restart it.
Updating to a newer version will help anyone help you, if only because some of the documentation for older Thunderbird versions is a bit harder to find and testing to try & reproduce your problem will be harder. Don't do this just yet, though :)
After this issue has been addressed I would suggest considering using IMAP if your provider allows you to, and of course archiving your email to Local Folders and doing regular backups of your profile.

Why does my Apple Mail insert old messages into the body of new emails? The correct sender's name will appear in the "From" column, but an old message from a different sender in the body. This happens randomly. I have an iMac OSX 10.6.8. I recently had the hard drive cleaned, but Apple Mail seemed to be running fine when I set it up again. Could this be a virus? How reduce window size?

I'm using a Mac Pro, OS X 10.7.2, Picasa 3: the window can't be reduced in size and the hatch marks are behind the dock, positioned on the bottom. How do I make the window smaller? I've tried moving the dock to the side and still the hatch marks don't make the window smaller, when I click and hold on them and then move the mouse.

I've tried clicking on the green button, which makes the window bigger, and then dragging the hatch marks on the lower right of window to the smaller size I want, but it won't make the window smaller.

Images Forwarded with Mac OS X Mail are being reduced in size.

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else but when I forward on an image, it is reduced in size. I assume it is something in my setting but I have not been able to find anything that changes size of forwarded images. Any help? Thanks.....

If these are true attachments, and images such as JPEG, then when you Forward, at the very bottom of the Compose Window you should see a reference to Image Size, and within the box a choice -- to make no change in the size of the images, it should read Actual Size. What do you observe when you do this?

I need to generate a popup of reduced size in Webdynpro for ABAP. I have Netweaver 7.0.
When I use the method Create_popup_to_confirm it generates a popup of default size even though I pass the height and width parameters. I need to reduce the size. Please tell me what are the options to do so in Netweaver 7.0

I need to make my parallels window smaller on my OSX desktop the tab to make it smaller is off the screen on the bottom of the screen.

Click on the minimize gadget (middle of the three on the top left) then resize. However, if you are referring to the window size when running Windows, then change the Windows' screen resolution.

How can I change the default window size of a new message permanently?

The mail window opens up very small and every time I must increase the size manually. I want to be able to set it so it opens larger or at least opens to the saem size as a previous mail window, which is what Mail used to do.
Also, can anyone tell me how to stop that new mail window from opening on the bottom left of my screen? I need to move it in orde to increase the window size. So, 2 default actions that are a psin to constantly deal with.
Is there any guru out there who has had this problem and solved it? Thanks!

HT6065 How do I fix mail it self attaches my saved documents to new emails.

Why does mail do this... i have a new message from lets say Pottery Barn but when I open the email it is actually a saved document for my files from like 2008 or 2008. How do I fix this? This is only on my iMac as far as I know. If I open the same email on my iPhone 5S it is the correct email.

You'll have to pardon my ignorance of some computer terminology; I'm a retired manager and not a computer technician, hence my muddling up of client and server terminology.
Re your comment about Port 339: I did qualify this with (?). As I wrote, it all happened at lightining speed and the guy at the Genius Bar didn't bother explaining what he was doing. Port designation contained 3s and 9s to the best of my recollection.
That said, you seem to be spot on re setting up a 'dummy' client in Mail. I set it up as you suggested and I can send to and receive from this client without a problem. You appear to have identified the solution, notwithstanding the claims of the ISP's 'experts'.
The next problem I have now is sorting out my wife's mailbox that is so troublesome whenever I set it up on Mail.
All the other set-up advice to date yielded a similar result; inability to send from my account to her inbox. Perhaps deleting her details from the account altogether and setting them up again from scratch may be the solution and I shall try that in due course. The impediment that I have with this at the moment is that my ISP admits that it has 'a technical problem with its email servers' and some of its related web pages that prevent my doing this myself. I will have to go through the telephone 'help' line and ask the technician to set it up at their end on my instructions. This has some disadvantages in that I have to divulge the password to the account to the operator rather than keeping it anonymous by doing it on-line. You may have solved the problem, but until I can successfully sort out a working mailbox for my wife i cannot definitively say so.

E-mailing photos without reducing image size

I have tried using the image size box in the message window (set at actual size) but still a 4MB photo in my aperture library is reduced to 400kB when I attach it to an e-mail. I'v spent far too long on this. Would appreciate help. Cheers.

How are you getting from Aperture to Mail?
Using File>Email from Within Aperture? This will reduce the pixel dimensions of the image according to the export preset chosen in Aperture's preferences.
Dragging an image from the Aperture window into an email, or using the media browser? This will use the Preview file, and the pixel dimensions will be constrained by your Preview settings in Aperture, and will cause problems for people who aren't using Apple Mail because the image will be in Adobe98 not sRGB.
Another question - what is the original file format? Even if the pixel dimensions are the same, 4MB to 0.4MB difference could be due to going from a TIFF or PSD to a JPEG.

How Do I Reduce Window Size/Find Audio Track

I am using Elements 4.0 and it works fine except for two issues. When I launch the software, the windows are larger than my monitor screen and I have to drag the windows around to see and access the buttons for the features. I have a 17" monitor and have it set to the highest quality (32 bit, which is 800 x 600 pixels). If I reduce the quality, this will probably interfere with editing color in the images.
Secondly, in the Help section under audio it shows an audio bar under the thumbnails and says you can drag the audio bar to designate where to start music. I cannot find the window that displays the audio bar. It's not in the Organizer for slide shows. Can anyone help?

Thanks. I tried that and it worked. I can now see the entire windows on my monitor screen. And the audio track now shows up in the edit window below the images. It's now possible to right click on the tracks, delete the ones I'm not satisfied with and add new ones.
However, for others out there, the change in screen resolution reduced my desktop and other windows that I open in other programs and makes it difficult for this 66 year old man to see. So I have to toggle back and forth, in between using Elements 4.0 and other programs. But that's no big deal ... just another hoop to jump through.

How can I reduce the size of the new io7 safari search bar? Help please!

Hi,
The new layout means the Safari search bar is takIng up about an inch and a half of my screen! The old io6 search bar was more slimline. Is there any way to go back to the old layout? As it is, my viewing of web pages is limited by having so much space taken up by the search bar.
Any advice much appreciated!

Mac Mail Messages List Not Scrolling Down to Reveal New Emails

No, this is not a really huge deal but it's just annoying enough to warrant a question here - and it hasn't always operated this way so something must be going on.
My inbox is telling me I've received mail properly, and the messages are definitely there...but they remain hidden above the last message I read until I scroll up.
When I look at my message list, the last message I read is sitting at the top.
In order to view the new messages I have to scroll up manually to view them.
I haven't changed any settings or preferences so no help there, unfortunately.

I'd suggest creating a new test user account from the system preferences. Log in, open Mail, enter your .Mac settings and see how it goes.
Alternatively, you can try to reset Mail.app by renaming (for backup purposes) the following files: (This will affect your other mailboxes as well!)
Preferences: your_name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
& Mail folder: your_name/Library/Mail/
Assuming a new Mail setup actually works, post back in case you need help on importing your old POP3 messages.
If not, I've no idea what to do... Your firewall should not affect .Mac behavior. (I got to admit, I don't particularly like Mail.app's buggy IMAP implementation.)
