Mail account name error

I had some problems with an email account in Mail.app so i deleted the account. When i wan't to add a new account and give it the same name the account i deleted had it gives me the message;
Error
You already have an account named:
"xxx".
I tried deleting the .plist file, deleting the Enveloppe Index and reinstalling Mail.app using Pacifist.
It still gives me the error message when trying to use the name i want.
Mail still thinks i have the old account. When opening the GrowlMail preference tab it displays the old account as an option to choose from. Even if it isn't in my accounts list.
Does anyone know some other option to reset Mail in order to get rid of this problem.

So, do I understand you right: in Mail's Preferences > Accounts the specific account doesn't show up anymore, but Mail still won't let you create a new account with the same name?
Well, you could check in <your-home-folder>/Library/Mail whether there's a folder labeled after that account. If so, try moving it to the Desktop. Maybe that will convince Mail to let you create the account. If not, you still can move the folder back to where it came from.

It happened to me today for the first time since upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.3, no "stop lights" in the title bar of the popup, in fact nothing at all.
I've never established a FaceTime account. So I tried to delete FaceTime from the Applications folder on the "system" disk thinking this may eliminate the popup. Mavericks informed me "Cannot delete FaceTime as it is used by the operating system.
Is this a MAC virus? Or is this an example user community alpha/beta testing that Apple just announced?

That being the case, why then did the FaceTime popup even appear in the first place?
It's not clear to me what it is. If it occurs again, please take a screenshot of the popup and post it in a reply.
To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse button. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
The screenshot attachment option for this support site appears only on computers - not on iPads.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

Mail account Sync Error "an error occurred remapping record identifiers"

I hope someone might be able to shed some light on this problem I am having.
I have a POP and an IMAP (mobile.me) mail account on my Mac which I also have on my iPhone. Email works fine on both devices but on every iPhone Sync attempt in iTunes I get the same error message as per the following image.

I've tried deleting both accounts from my iPhone but on Syncing again they are not re-created anew as I thought they would be.

Before the next sync, try going under the info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and uncheck sync email accounts. Select apply in the bottom right corner.
Quit iTunes and disconnect the iphone.
Launch the iSync application in your applications folder and go to iSync preferences.
Select Reset sync history.
After resetting sync history, restart your Mac. Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone. Select syncing the email account settings for these email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences. Select Apply, followed by a sync.
If this works, you can deselect syncing the email account settings for your iPhone sync preferences. This transfers email account settings only from your Mac to your iPhone. After the account settings are successfully transferred to your iPhone, there isn't any reason to include this with every sync. You only need to do this if your email account settings change for these email accounts on your Mac, which shouldn't happen very often.
If this doesn't work, leave the option to transfer the email account settings under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and manually re-create the accounts with the iPhone's mail client.

I am using my e-mail adress with "recent:" in front of my e-mail account name.I have one more than computerand have same mail adress.it is not working now?

I can not help you. Gmail offer the service. Thunderbird is an IMAP and POP mail client. it is not a Recent mail client. Gmail offers that service. You have already pointed out it works fine is you use it as a pop client.
I don't care if it works in Outlook, eudora and mac mail. Apparently it does not work in Thunderbird so ask google why not. I read their instructions for this, and I simply can not comprehend the instructions. they are gibberish.

Can I change my icloud mail account name?

Hi, when activated mail on icloud.com I typed wrong username that I wanted to use. Now I have to use alias to people can recognise my when I want to use it. Is there some way to delete my mail account on icloud and create a new one? I tried looking for some solution but a I didnt find any. Please help and sorry for my english I am still learning it.

To change the iCloud ID go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will reappear when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).

OIM and MS Exchange - Invalid mail store name error

hello,
I'm trying to provision a user with a mailbox in Exchange. I have setup SSL between the AD/Exch box and OIM. After a manual provisioning is initiated through OIM, the "Create Mailbox" adapter status is shown as "Rejected".
In the details, the Reason show is "Invalid mail store name passed". However, the mail store name used in the IT Resource Configuration is as per the connector documentation and as seen in the Exchange System Manager console i.e. "Mailbox Store (BASE)" where "BASE" is the name of the computer where AD/Exch is installed.
Am I missing something? Is there a full DN of the mail store required? Is this something to do with the access permissions in AD or Exchange?

I was able to resolve this by changing the value of "Server Name" value in the IT Resource. The issue is not with the Mail Store Name or "Store Name" rather it's with the "Server Name".
The value of "Server Name" should be the host name without the domain name for example, BASE only instead of BASE.mydomain.com.
The value of "Store Name" should be as shown in the Windows Exchange Admin Console. E.g. "Mailbox Store (BASE)".
Also, ensure that the value "AD User" is added under the "Depends On" for the "Exchange" Resource Object.
Once you provide the values as mentioned above, create a user in OIM and assign AD User and Exchange resources.
The mailbox will not be created/shown in the Exchange Admin Console unless you access the Exchange URL and login with the target user's credentials.
The Exchange URL can be accessed as "http://hostname or IP/exchange". Provide the user's username and password and the Outlook Web Access screen will be displayed.
Now go to Exchange Admin System console and check the mail store if the maiilbox is created.

After touching Connect in Settings/Store she wrote Apple ID ("[email protected]") and the password. Then it said she had to "verify the ID" by pressing the link given in the mail they sent.

How to change my icloud mail account name

I have set up icloud e-mail no problems however when I have checked the settings after the initial save in
settings>icloud>account>Advanced my email address shows [email protected] it shoukld be [email protected] I am missing the 'e' on the surname. How can I modify this so as to add the 'e' I have deleted the account and reset up but it keeps defaulting to the minu 'e' address?

X3-02 create mail account - communication error

when i try to create an email account on the nokia x3-02 it fails with the communication error msg. wat is to be done to fix this !

i'm still having the same problem after reinstalling the 5.65 update...
although opera mini now works... communities, chat and mail are still not working... always network communication problem...

More information would be helpful. You can try going to iCloud.com, open Mail, click on the gear in the bottom left corner and then select Preferences. You can enter a name there.

How do I see the e-mail account name I used in Sync set up?

Some time ago I set up a Sync account. Today I am trying to add a device. Itrie four different e-mail addresses for the Sync set up and it indicated none of them matched an existing account. I may have mistyped an e-address on my initial set up. How do I recover the e-address information used to establish my current Sync account? If that cannot be done how do I desync the current machines so I can start over? Thanks fox2

Account Name Error

When I go to system preferences and click the lock to make changes, or when I try to download new updates and such, the name and password section are both blank and when I type in the administrators name and password it says "please try again." So, I can't unlock my computer to add new updates or change settings...
Anybody have any suggestions?

Click Restart at the login window
While the computer is restarting, hold down "Command-S" until you see text scrolling through the window. This boots the computer into single user mode.
At the Localhost% prompt type:
/sbin/mount -uw /
/sbin/SystemStarter
You will then see various services starting up.
When the Localhost% prompt reappears, type:
passwd root
It will then ask you to type the new root password twice, so do so.
After entering the new password, type:
reboot
At the login window, enter username root with the new password.

How do I fix it when an e-mail account disappears from the left panel of the main interface (with inbox of another account on right)..

I recently added two accounts to Thunderbird and everything seemed to be going smoothly. Today I was using one of the new accounts and wanted to change to my old Edurostream account. But it was nowhere to be found. The new accounts and another old account are there. If I go to "accounts" Edurostream is still there, but there is no way I know of to get from there to the inbox for that account. There is no error message. I am using the latest version of Thunderbird (24.6)

If you have all your emails going to Local folders, this sounds like you have a Global Inbox for the pop mail account.
You can check this here:
Tools > Account settings > Server Settings for the mail account.
click on 'Advanced' button.
Is this selected?
'Inbox for a different account' and 'Global Inbox (Local Folders)'
Global Inbox accounts do not show the mail account name in the Folder Pane as it does not use those folders.

If you remove the account, the emails will remain in Local Folders.
If you change the settings as described above to point to 'Inbox for this servers account (also see image below - words may be a bit different as not an image of latest version), then you will see the mail account in the Folder Pane with it's own set of folders. New mail will go to those folders, but old mail will remain in Local Folders.

Emails are downloaded to your Inbox and stored one after the other in the order they were downloaded. So, the emails are not stored as individual files, they are written into a text file which can get bigger and bigger if you do not manage the Inbox.
Any emails you delete, from your point of view they disappear from Inbox and reappear in 'Deleted' folder (Also called Trash).
In reality, those deleted emails are 'marked as deleted' and are still in the Inbox, but hidden. This means that if you had accidentally deleted an email, it would be easy to quickly get it back.

Using folders to organise emails into groups keeps the file size smaller and makes it easier to locate emails. It is also less risky. Smaller files also use less memory to open.
