  • Can't get my mail say not connect to server but I'm on facebook

Cant get my mail says not connected but on facebook

Please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing. What mail provider? What is the exact error? Do you mean that you can get onto your Facebook page via the internet? How do you see these as being related?

  • I get a message the message " Can not get mail. Not connected to server" Yet I am connected with Wi-fi and can access all other websites. Can you advise? My iPad is only a month old!

Has any one experienced not being able to send mail and only receiving some? I get the message " can not get mail. No connection to the server! " Yet I get some mail but can not send out any. My iPad is only 1 month old! It worked perfectly for about 10 days.
    Thx
    Agnes

    Hey agnesfromcopenhagen k,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with Mail on your iPad. The following resource provides some troubleshooting steps. What kind of account are you using? Some internet providers require that you be connected to your home Wi-Fi (or for work accounts, inside your corporate Wi-Fi/firewall). Also, some email accounts require two-step authentication. For more information, see this resource:

  • AOL Mail Can not connect to server

I am having problems with the email client on the playbook. I have both AOL and Yahoo email accounts. Both accounts downloaded properly since the 2.0 upgrade, but recently, another update was downloaded and now my AOL account keeps popping up "unable to connect to server" but yet the email is there. However, every now and then, when you try to "read" it, it just keeps downloading. Any one else have this problem and know of a fix?

I would delete the all account and reconfigure it. It should be am IMAP Account.

  • Mail accounts not connecting after resume

This started about a week ago suddenly, not after any updates or new software installs.
I have 2 e-mail accounts set up within the Mail app which were working fine for years.  Now they randomly show the exclamation mark next to them and won't connect.  This seems to happen more after resume.  Connection doctor shows that a varying combination of IMAP and SMTP in each account aren't connecting, and tells me to check settings and SSLs.
Have installed Thunderbird to check if this is Mail app specific, but that's also unstable.
I'm unsure what to do - closing and restarting the app sometimes works.  Restarting the computer almost always works.  I've deleted and re-added both accounts to no avail.
Has anyone had anything similar?  How was it fixed.  I'd rather not do a clean install.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode by putting the system to sleep and waking it up. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • After 10.9.1 Upgrade, Mail Account Not Connected

Mail accounts (pop) are not staying connected after the upgrade when the Mail app opened.

It seems all is well this morning. So, Mail might not have any issues, and it might have been my company's host was experiencing problems that coincidentally occurred right after I had upgraded to 10.9.1.

  • Mail Account Not Connecting?

I have two mail accounts named account1 and account2.  When I click on "Get new messages from all acounts" account1 behaves perfectly.  But account2 does nothing and the activity window simply says "[account2] Fetching sending password" and shows a progress bar with a red stop sign icon.  After a while the window goes blank.  If I send an email to account2 and go check the mail at comcast.net the message will be there, as expected, but it never shows up in the mail application mailbox "account2" - the malbox then shows the grey triangle with exclamation mark in the mail application sidebar.  Any help???

Maybe Window > Connection Doctor from Apple Mail's menu will help.
Also, clicking on the exclamation mark(s) may provide additional information.

  • After upgrade to Maverick Mail does not connect to server to download emails

Since I have had my system upgraded to Maverick I can no longer download emails from my server/provider. Mail asks for the password for the user (me) and when I type it in nothing happens.
There is no problem connecting to my server/provider online, so the server is working ok. My guess is that I am missing some crucial ticked or unticked box in the mail set up. I just don't want to mess around with it without knowing what I need to do. If anyone out there has a solution, pls send a step by step.
Any help appreciated, replies might be slow - like I said, no email alerts of mails getting through at the moment (so have to read everything only when I'm online...).

Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. If there's no change, see below.

The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

  • TS1843 Not receiving apple mail.  Connection Doctor says not connected to server.  Yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.

Not receiving apple mail.  Checked connection Doctor.  Not connected to server, yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.

No, I have a Mac and my email connects via our pacbell account we've had for years.  However, something in the Preferences/Accounts is not correct I am guessing.  Also, it asks for the password and if I put it in and click save through general or viewing, it's NOT saving it and still not allowing me to get email. My husband tried reading about this through our AT&T acct and said to change the incoming server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo;[email protected], but now I can't receive or send any email on my Mac. In advanced not sure if it should be Port of 465 or 900 something or other and SSL checked or not.  I called AT&T and they want to take over my machine by charging $15/mos for a year to fix this.  Ridiculous.
So, everytime prior to yesterday, when my husband messed around with it, I was getting a POP needs password box, typed in my password, but to no avail..Then it Keychain password popped up and assumed it was the same, but there's no way to change or modify it even using the new password my husband set up through AT&T.  I am at a complete loss.
I can access mail through yahoo mail and it takes me to AT&T Yahoo Mail, but no contacts are there so needless to say this is a pain.
I appreciate any assistance you can give me so I can get back on my email as I have for 4 years.
Thanks Hackintosh...I look forward to hearing from you....you can use the email above and it will come to me through my yahoo web page....Thanks again and let me know if you need any other information.  If you respond on here, I may not get the answer from you as I didn't know you responded until I came on discussions.  THanks
