Mail account ordering

I set up two email accounts on my iPhone 3GS.  When I start the mail app it checks the first one first, and I would like it to check the second one first.  How can I make it do that?

There is no setting for this.

  • Mail account order sorting in 10.8.1

10.8.1 seems to have decided that I want my Mail accounts sorted alphabetically rather than the way I prefer (by usage). It reflects the order in Mail -> Preferences but there doesn't now seem to be any way to alter the sort order. Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, you can move your accounts in the sidebar as mende1 suggested, but, eventually, Mac OS will decide that you can't be right and that you can't have your way. It keeps switching back to its own sort order. This needs fixing. Right up there with random default appointment settings in iCal and more.

  • Mail Account order

The order of the accounts on my iPhone is different than the order on my Mac. Since these accounts sync, why is the order different?
How can I change the order on the iPhone?

    1. Delete ALL the mail accounts on your iPhone.(Do this on the iphone itself)
    2. Then, add each account one at a time at each sync in the order you want them to appear on your iphone (add 1st account then sync, add 2nd account then sync,
    etc...).
They should now appear in whatever order you want.

  • Thunderbird mail account order change

My objective is to sort my Thunderbird email accounts (not folders). However, it seems that the manually-sort-folders add-on is what is being recommended.
When installing the add-on "manually-sort-folders-1.1-tb.xpi", I get an error message saying that the add-on is not compatible with Firefox 35.0.1.
When trying to change prefs.js or use about:config, I cannot find any reference to "account1" as a starting point (I have 3 accounts).
    What is going on?

    Hello,
You could change the order of your accounts in the folders pane by modifying your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Prefs.js_file prefs.js] file as described in [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=56225 this thread]. If you have trouble figuring out which accounts are assigned to which account numbers in prefs.js, or if you try changing the order of accounts in prefs.js but the order displayed in the folders pane is not what you expected, see [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=544764#544764 this thread] for further information.

  • Change Mail Account order

I wish to change the order of my 4 email accounts in MAIL.   That is, that order in which they are listed on the side bar and in Preferences; Acounts.
How do I do that?  thanks!

For the account listing, drag them into the order you want. For the Preferences, I don't think it makes a difference where they are, and there is no way to reorder them.

  • Mail Accounts Order

I've got 13 email accounts on my iPhone. The Accounts screen only shows 8 accounts at a time. Is there a way to change the order that they are listed on the screen?
Some of these accounts are fairly inactive, but I don't want to just delete them, yet they sit at the top of the screen while more important (active) accounts are at the bottom and have to be scrolled to.
Today, in order to (finally) get MobileMe push of my contacts and calendars to work, I had to go on the iPhone and delete the old .Mac account from the iPhone, and recreate it with the MobileMe add button. This put this account (my most important one) at the bottom of my accounts. I'd really like it at the top without having to delete and reenter all the other accounts in the order that I want them to appear.
    Any suggestions?

But the answer turns out not to work (quite apart from being disappointing). In whatever order I create the three accounts after deleting them. they always appear in the same order in Preferences. I should be most grateful for more guidance.

  • How can I change the default mail account in mail v6.3

I have in my mail preferences four accounts. The first one is a "Google IMAP" and all others are just "IMAP". When I'm composing a new email it defaults to the wrong account. Intuitively I think the the first account listed under mail preference would be the default one, but I'm unable to move the order. How to I change this?

To change your default mail account, you just have to change the mail accounts order in the Mail sidebar. First of all, if you don't see your mailboxes under "Inbox" (at the top of the sidebar), press the arrow, and your mail accounts will appear.
Now, you just have to drag the mail account you want by default to the first position

  • How to change the order of Mail accounts

Is there a way I can adjust the order of how my Mail accounts appear? I have six accounts on my iPhone, but generally only receive e-mails to two of them, so I'd like to put them at the top of the list.
    Thanks!

    You're welcome.
I'm not sure how the account order is established on the iPhone when transferring email accounts from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. I access only two email accounts and I manually created both on my iPhone.
You can delete all accounts on your iPhone, and then select only one email account at a time under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync - selecting the account you want listed first. Follow this by deselecting the account under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and then select the next account that you want listed on your iPhone followed by a sync.
Repeat the same for the 3rd account, 4th account, and so forth.
Another thing to check, what order are the email accounts listed under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences? Does the order match the order of the accounts on your iPhone? If so, can you change the order of the accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences? If yes, you can delete all email accounts from your iPhone followed by transferring all 6 email accounts at one via the iTunes sync process.

  • HT2486 My mail account is linked to my address book. The address book shows First Name, Last Name. When I try to insert a name into an email, the order is reversed...Last Name, First Name.  How can I make the email read in the same order...First Name, Las

My Mail Account in linked to my address book. The address book shows First Name, Last Name. When I start an email in Mail, the name does appear but the order is reversed...Last Name, First Name. I must have changed a setting somewhere but I don't know where. Does anyone know how to correct it?

I don't have any problem with my system. My guess is there is something there you aren't quite getting. I'd recommend a visit to your Apple Store, AASP or to contact AppleCare so they can coach you personally.
You can also play with the Address Book Preferences. However to see how changing a Preference affects the Address Book drag the Preferences window off of the Address Book so you can see both the Preferences window and Address Book Windows. Then toggle a Preference and you will see it instantly changes in the Address Book.

  • Rearranging order of mail account and accounts showing up in iTunes

I want to rearrange the order of my mail accounts. I have noticed that when I send pictures via email the account used is the first listed. If I forget to change the "From" account some people don't recognize me or my mail goes to their junk.
I have read in previous topic posts is that the easiest solution is to use iTunes to rearrange the order. Attach your phone, open iTunes and under Info tab scroll to Sync Mail Accounts. Uncheck all accounts other than the one you want to be listed first. Then sync. Repeat the process adding additional accounts one by one in the order you want them to appear.
The problem is that my main account is the only one that shows up in the box. None of the other 5 appear.
    Suggestions?

If the other 5 are synced OTA, they won't appear in iTunes. If that's the case, you'll have to delete the accounts on your iPhone and manually recreate the accounts in the order you prefer.

  • Mail account s order

I have 2 mail account onto my iPad set up via iTunes syncing. They work well, i just would like to' chance the order in wich they Are listed into mail app, the non default one as first and the default one, the one I use the most, as second. of corse canging default account did not help. Any hint? Thank you.

My recent experience indicates otherwise.  The most recently added account is last in your Mail Accounts list.  ( Or should I say, MY most recently added account is last in my Mail Accounts list.)

  • When I click on the mail icon on my iPad 2 the mail accounts do not show up.

    iPad 2 32GB Version 8.1.1
When I click on the Mail icon, the mail accounts do not appear. The screen is blank except in the he upper right corner of the screen I can see mini icons: flag, folder, file box, arrow, and pad/pencil mini icon.
I've been having a number of issues with Facebook ever since I upgraded to Version 8, so I don't know if this is a version issue or something else.
    I've tried rebooting/restarting, etc. Nada.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks.

Close all apps and then reset the iPad. If that does work, reset all settings.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again.
FWIW, I don't use Facebook at all, the app or in a browser, but I have read more that a few posts here where people that use the app all the time claim that is very buggy and causes all sorts of problems for them. Maybe closing the app along with the reset will help.

  • Mail Accounts in Mail

I had to re-establish one of my e-maila accounts in Mail and I can't see any messages.  It shows me how many messages are unread in the left panel, but no messages are displayed in the main window.  Can someone suggest a fix?

If you deleted the account in Mail in order to re-create it, you deleted all messages in account mailboxes.  If the account was a POP account, those messages are probably not still on the server, but you can be sure by selecting the account, pressing command-i and seeing what messages are reported as being on the server.  If the account was IMAP, then the messages should all still be on the server.  You may simply need to force the account to sync (Mailbox -> Synchronize All Accounts).
If the messages are gone, do you have any backups?

  • How to restore Mail inbox for one mail account?

I am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information.  When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?
    DN

You just go to the mailbox in Mail that the messages are missing from and then, from there, choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine menu bar icon.  You'll see the Time Machine interface, showing the current version of that mailbox, and you can go back in time to when the messages were still there.  Then select the messages you want to restore (all of them, I'd guess) and restore them.  They'll show up in a new mailbox (Recovered Messages or something?  I forget exactly what it's called), and you can move them back to where you want from there.

  • E Mail Account suspended, but everything else works

I moved from an upstairs apartment to a downstairs apartment, had my service transferred, currently have my normal cable service and internet working, however my e-mail account is suspended.  I have called Verizon about 5 or six times and been transferred around between technical and billing, but nobody can fix my problem.  I am very frustrated with all of this.  Apparently, the prior tenant had never called Verizon to cancel their account, but Verizon contacted my Landlord who gave them the ok to disconnect, they hooked mine up but the new address still shows the old account holder on it.  I was also told there is half a work order, the from address is filled out, but the to is not.  I really don't get why they can't solve this issue. So far I have spent about 5 collective hours on the phone to no avail.  Several times I have been told that I would be called back, once by a supervisor, other times by the technical person but nobody calls.....this is unbelievable!!!
