Mail account Sync Error "an error occurred remapping record identifiers"

I hope someone might be able to shed some light on this problem I am having.
I have a POP and an IMAP (mobile.me) mail account on my Mac which I also have on my iPhone. Email works fine on both devices but on every iPhone Sync attempt in iTunes I get the same error message as per the following image.
The following is from the AppleMobileSync.00.log from within Console.
2009-01-30 13:04:59.682 AppleMobileSync 1440:2689074976 SyncClient.m:- ConcreteSyncClient remapRecordIdentifiers:dataClass: ERROR: Exception NSInvalidArgumentException calling clientChangedRecordIdentifiers: ISDSqliteRecordIdMapper replaceLocalId:withLocalId: : you can't change the local id 501CDE24-46B5-476F-A21A-1C9AD7E0DA60 -> 8769B17E-D91B-4E85-B960-457AFCA85949: both the new and old ids are already mapped to global ids
I've tried deleting both accounts from my iPhone but on Syncing again they are not re-created anew as I thought they would be.
Does anyone have any suggestions.
Chris

Before the next sync, try going under the info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and uncheck sync email accounts. Select apply in the bottom right corner.
Quit iTunes and disconnect the iphone.
Launch the iSync application in your applications folder and go to iSync preferences.
Select Reset sync history.
After resetting sync history, restart your Mac. Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone. Select syncing the email account settings for these email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences. Select Apply, followed by a sync.
If this works, you can deselect syncing the email account settings for your iPhone sync preferences. This transfers email account settings only from your Mac to your iPhone. After the account settings are successfully transferred to your iPhone, there isn't any reason to include this with every sync. You only need to do this if your email account settings change for these email accounts on your Mac, which shouldn't happen very often.
If this doesn't work, leave the option to transfer the email account settings under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and manually re-create the accounts with the iPhone's mail client.

You can either setup your mail account settings manually or sync your settings to your phone. If your mail accounts are already setup on your phone, there is no need to have this box checked in itunes.

Can anyone help me to solve this issue ? relly its a major problm

iTunes is running into a conflict between mail account information already on your iPhone and the accounts you are trying to sync.
Connect your iPhone to your computer. In the Advanced section under the Info tab, check the box next to "Mail Accounts". This will replace the mail account info on your iPhone with the accounts you are trying to sync.
If this does not work, then reset your sync history by opening the iSync application, going into the preferences, and clicking Reset Sync History.

  • Sync problem - Outlook Exp -- "error occurred remapping record identifiers

What does this mean? It's preventing me from syncing my iTunes as well. Thanks.

Hmm, I think I just solved this, at least for me: on the Info pane of the iPhone's settings in iTunes, I checked Mail Accounts down in the Advanced section, so it replaced the info on the iPhone with the latest Mac settings. Then I synced again, and didn't get the message.

  • Mail Accounts syncing not working

When I got my iPhone I originally setup access to one of my mail accounts directly on the device, so never came across this problem. When I recently set iTunes to "Sync selected Mail accounts" and added my other accounts, I came across some problems.
First of all, I got the "iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone… because an error occurred remapping record identifiers."
I got around this by painstakingly adding only 1 account at a time, then syncing, then adding another account, then syncing, etc.
I've kept "Sync selected Mail accounts" checked, but now every so often when I sync my iPhone (by docking it) I'll lose ALL my mail settings on the device. Of course, I don't usually find this out until I'm away from my computer and try to use Mail on the iPhone
Has anyone else come across this problem (disappearing Mail settings?) or a fix?
I've already tried restoring the iPhone, but this problem persists.
For now, I am configuring Mail manually on the iPhone and leaving mail accounts syncing in iTunes off.

If this is successful, and the email account settings for selected email accounts are successfully transferred to your iPhone, you can deselect this option. The sync process for email account settings is in one direction only - from your computer to your iPhone. Unless a change is made to the settings for an account on your computer that you want reflected on your iPhone, there is no reason to continue to sync email account settings every time you sync.

  • Remapping record identifiers error

I crashed 10.5.2, had to reinstall 10.5.1 then combo update and since then when I sync my iPhone I get this error in iTunes:
"iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone "Mark Richardson's iPhone" because an error occurred remapping record identifiers."
I deleted the email account from iPhone, re-entered the email account again and got same error on syncing. BUT I sent a test email to this account and got an email. So the account works but its not recognized in iTunes sync.
    Any suggestions?

This was addressed in a previous post:
On the next sync, try going into the info tab in itunes and uncheck sync email accounts.
Then click apply in the bottom right corner.
Close itunes and disconnect the iphone.
Now open isync in your applications folder.
    Open the isync preferences.
    Reset sync history.
Once sync history is reset, you can try opening itunes, connect the iphone and try syncing again.
If the error still occurs, you can leave the option to sync accounts to the iphone unchecked since this does not mess with sending or receiving mail on the iphone.

  • SMTP Server changes on Mac now causing error "remapping record identifiers"

I had some problems all of a sudden with outgoing smtp server settings as I traveled from place to place. I finally got all that resolved through trial and error. Now when I sync my iPhone, it tells me "iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone "my name" because an error occurred remapping record identifiers. iPhone mail is working fine. Did the smtp server setting changes cause this? How do I fix it? Would appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Check Damon's answer in this thread.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6073736
Did you make these changes on your iPhone, or with the Mail.app on your MBP?
FYI - the sync process for email account setup information in a transfer process in one direction only - from your computer to your iPhone. Any changes made to account settings on your iPhone will not be transferred to your Mac. Email account settings are not synced.
If you made the changes to the account settings on your iPhone only, the changed settings will be overwritten with the account settings on your Mac when syncing. Transferring email account settings via the sync process only needs to be done once - unless you make changes to the account settings on your computer that you want transferred to your iPhone - without having to manually change the account settings on your iPhone.

  • IPod Mail Accounts Syncing Problem

    Hi,
I keep getting the following error message when I try to sync my iPod Touch.
"iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPod "Name" because an error occurred remapping record identifiers.
Try syncing your iPod again. If the problem persists, replace the mail accounts on the iPod from the Info tab in the iPod preferences."
Anyone got any ideas? It's only just started a couple of days ago.
    Thanks,
    Mel

    Greetings, again, Mel -
Another forum response seems to have fixed the problem for me. From Christopher Archer comes this:
"...a much simpler "solution" to this problem. It worked for me as well as a few others. Before you sync...go to the info tab. Down at the bottom is says that during the next sync it will basically overwrite the information on the iPhone. I selected mail...since that was the error to begin with...and synced. Did fine...ran a normal sync to be safe and I'm back up and jogging."
    ...Me, too.

  • When setting up new godaddy pop mail account, I get this error: Internet Accounts preferences can't connect to the account

Trying to set-up new godaddy mail account. Walked through it with the godaddy rep, so the settings are correct. It is a pop account and I merely want it to function within Mail. (I have other accounts like it that work with no problem.) However, when I try to go online with the account, I get this error message: "Internet Accounts Preferences can't connect to the account..." It then prompts me to enter the password for the account and says it is "Unable to verify account or password."
Godaddy says it is an Apple Mail issue because the account works fine in their Workspace. I sent test messages and when I login at godaddy, the messages are there. However, for some reason, Mail won't connect to it. Any ideas?
Thank you. I'm running OS X, version 10.9.4.

Yes. The account is there. There's just a verification with password issue. I had to change my password at Godaddy to include caps, special character, etc., and reinstall the account. Then I had to tweet the settings a bit. But think I have it resolved. Thanks.

  • Unable to add a mail account, with Invalid Password error message, yet can log into mail system OK through a browser. Mail technicians can't find the problem.

When I try to add a newly-created Bigpond account to Thunderbird, I get an error message "User Name or Password Invalid", yet I can log in to this account OK through a browser. When adding the account, Thunderbird says "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database". I have previously successfully added Bigpond, Yahoo, Outlook and Hotmail accounts to Thunderbird and they are working fine. The Bigpond Technical Support staff have looked into this and cannot see what is wrong but they say they do not support Thunderbird. Any ideas appreciated...

Thanks. I had tried the auto and manual setups with the same result. IN addition, the Bigpond Support sent me the following which I also tried and got the same result.
For the settings that needs to be configured for your new mailbox, kindly follow the steps listed below:
(**Note: Please be advised that BigPond technical support team is only trained for Microsoft mail clients like Outlook Express, windows Live mail and the like. Having said this, we can only provide limited assistance in setting up your email account for your Thunderbird mail client by providing the correct settings that need to be configured.)
    For IMAP server settings:
    Account Type: IMAP
    Incoming IMAP server: imap-mail.outlook.com
    Incoming IMAP mail: port 993
    Outgoing SMTP server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Outgoing SMTP port: 587 (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Incoming uses SSL: On (this is required)
Outgoing uses SSL: On (this is required) (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Same as incoming mail server
    For POP server settings:
Please be advised that before setting up your email account on an email client using a POP mail server, we will need to ensure first that 'Connecting devices and apps with POP' has been enabled through webmail. For instructions on how to do this, kindly follow the steps below:
    - Log In your email account from the BigPond website from the Webmail section located at the top left side of the BigPond home page (http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html).
    - The page then will automatically redirect to an Outlook website in which you will need to click the 'settings icon' (a gear like icon) located at the top left side of the page.
    - From the drop down list, click on 'Options'.
    - It will then direct the page to a new page where you will need to click 'Connect devices and apps with POP' under the Managing your account section.
    - Choose 'Enable' and choose "Do what the device or app says—if it's set to delete messages, delete them." under Deleting downloaded messages.
    - Click on the 'Save' button to save the changes.
    - Log out of from your webmail page and start setting up your email client on your mail client using the following setting below:
    Account Type: POP3
    Incoming POP server: pop-mail.outlook.com
    Incoming POP mail: port 995
    Outgoing SMTP server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Outgoing SMTP port: 587 (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Incoming uses SSL: On (this is required)
Outgoing uses SSL: On (this is required) (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Same as incoming mail server
In looking at the Thunderbird error message, it seems to consistently refer to the User Name and Password. I know they are correct, as I can log in from a browser using them. Is there something in the validation rules that might be the problem? Also, you may be aware that Bigpond is migrating their old Webmail system across to the Outlook platform. Registering new e-mail accounts in Bigpond get created on the Outlook platform, whereas older accounts are still on the Bigpond Webmail system. Is this causing a problem somewhere in validation?

  • Mail account sync problem

    Hi
Was using Outlook the other day and got an error on an IMAP account so had to remove and add the account to Outlook again. Just syncing my iPhone 4 with iTunes and the sync stays at 'Syncing mail accounts'. No error message, just stays at this stage. So I cancelled the sync, deleted the particular account from the phone and tried to sync again in the hope it would work. Still not.
Anyone got any tips or advice? Obviously I can add the email account manually on the phone again, but this isn't going to stop the sync process in the future. Is there a way of disabling this stage of the sync process?
    Thanks
    Ricky

I solved this (pretty much) by just taking the entire user/library/mail folder from the machine that had all 3 of my gmail accounts syncing correctly , i.e. delete and replace on the mbp that had a stuck account. So now the sync works as expected by my overall mail count is not exact: on the imac it's currently Inbox (1203 messages) and on the mbp it's Inbox (1138 messages). The difference must be back in time, and not within the last few weeks as I checked back that far and things seem to match up on both machines. It would be nice to fix, but not imperative, assuming whatever is missing is still on the Gmail website...somewhere. So I'll keep this post open in case anyone has more ideas. cheers,

  • No mail account sync - reamapping of entry indentification

    Dear all:
I can not sync anymore one of my email account because of a strange message; "error during the reamapping of entry indentification"...
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Best regards,

    Hi Illaas,
    Thanks for your response.
You don't mention whether you are looking in iTunes or Finder. However, it does not really matter: either way I do not see emails as a sync option.
Under Finder, my iPad is not showing as a separate device.
Under iTunes under Devices, when I click on my iPad, I see lots of tabs (Summary, Info, Apps, Movies, Music, TV Shows, Podcasts, iTunesU, Books and Photos) but no Mail.
I ended up creating each Mail account individually, so this issue is not really resolved but I found a workaround.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Mail Account sync from mac to iPhone

i cant sync my mail accounts from my mac to my iphone 4! the register "info" isnt there in iTunes.
so i have to type all the settings on the iphone again. with mountain lion it was really easy to sync my mail accounts. why is this function not included in mavericks?

I've got the same problem. I need my iMac to talk to my iPhone but it's not doing anymore. I also tried creating a randon Playlist in iTunes and it didn't sync that either. I don't want iCloud as it confuses matters and gives me double entries, I'll let you know if I find a work around.

  • Exchange 2007 mail account sync with Mail 4.0 does not happen

I am setting up my work exchange 2007 mail account in Mail 4.4. The total size of mail box is ~ 200MB. Folders smaller than 10MB have synced properly and I can see the mails in these folders inside Mail.
However, none of the mails inside folders >10MB are visible in Mail. Activity window in Mail does not indicate that a sync is going on. But I can see that Mail has correctly calculated the folder sizes on server and no. of messages on server (for every folder) in Account Info.
I have waited close to 5hrs hoping that it is probably a slow first time sync, but I am not closer to seeing the mails in Mail.
Any leads to solving this would help.
    Thanks

I was having this problem as well with a different host's email account. I was able to get IMAP as an option by holding down the Option key. But then was unable to connect to the server to send/receive mail. Turning off SSL in two places worked:
    - Uncheck SSL from the SMTP server settings (click on the SMTP server name & select "Edit SMTP Server List to get to this setting); and
    - From the Advanced Options Tab. Also, in Advanced Options, you may need to change the port to 143 (it may be defaulted to 993 since SSL is the default.)
