Mail Adapters

I am new in XI. I was trying to send the IDOC data into mail using mail adapter. I have imported the CREMAS04 idoc in IR. Made data type messege type , messege interfaces, messege mapping , and interface mapping. I gave created SC , Technical system, Busines system, Business group, , and in ID I have imported the Business system, made a Communication channel. In communication channel i have mede the following entries as
Adapter type = Mail
Transport protocol SMTP.
Messege Protocol: XIALL
Adapter Engine:Integration server.
Url: www.gmail.com
UID:complete email address
password
Mail attributes:
UID: complete email address
Receiver : some address
Adapter Status: active.
Now I donnow, what other settings are required to be done so as to send the email. Nothing else has been done in ID. I donno actually wether at all I need to go for the other components of ID.
I will Trigger the Idoc from r3 using we19. I want to see wether I get a mail in my gmail account based on the entries, in the idoc .
I have gone through a lot of documents in SDN, but cant find any complete integration document.
I dont understand what all settings i have to do so as to configure SMTP or IMAP4 access to your mail server.
In 1 document it said
" To access the
mail server, enter the following URL:"...I really donno what it means!!
smtp://YourServer or imap://YourServer/YourInbox.
Experts,
Pls help.
Arnab.

Hi,
here is scenario IDoc to File:
Introduction to IDoc-XI-File scenario and complete walk through for starters.
You could do your scenario like this (with a message mapping instead) and a Mail Adapter.
The configuration of the Mail Adapter is described here:

  • Mail sender adapter with Variable Transport Binding doesn't work

    Hi,
    we have PI/700 SP7.
    An external partner sends an email with one attachment (a simple csv file).
    I take "PayloadSwapBean" (with swap.keyName = payload-name) to get the attachment.
    Both, the Adapter-Specific Message Attributes indicator and the Variable Transport Binding indicator are set.
    I set the mail package format indicator too.
    What I need is the sender, receiver and subject of the mail plus the attachment.
    Unfortunately it is not possible to read in the email with this configuration - I get an error.
    If I unset the Variable Transport Binding indicator - I get the email but without "sender, receiver and subject" in "SHeaderFROM, SHeaderTO, SHeaderSubject". The "mail package" is overwritten by the attachment.
    Is it a problem of the namespace "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail"?
    Do I have to define this namespace or do I have to import a content (SAP BASE 700, SP7 is imported)?
    Please help...
    Regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi Wolfgang,
    I hope it is not due to the namespace.

  • Mail Receiver and Attachment Issue - how to get an attachment into the body

    I have an abap proxy that sends a simple message to XI with a pdf attachment. XI maps the xml message to the Mail Adapters Mail Package format.
    To have the email sent with the PDF attachment I must click the "keep attachments" option. However this also has the side-effect of making the message payload an attachment as well (seems silly?). Therefore I get an email with two attachments: one is the PDF and the other is the plain text that should be in the email body.
    The question is: How do I get that plain text attachment back into the Message Body ? I have tried all combinations of the MessageTranformBean and the PayloadSwapBean with no luck.
    I can easily change the names of the attachments with the MessageTransformBean but if I set the text attachment to Transform.ContentDisposition inline, it still just comes out as an attachment. And, if I use the payloadswapbean the adapter log says it corectly swapped the right payload however the email still comes out with the text as an attachment!!
    Any ideas on how I can do this? Is it a bug in the module beans?
    (I'm using MS Outlook as the email client.)
    Maybe I need to write my own module bean to do this... If I set keep attachments to OFF, can I still set the PDF attachment with my own modules (the reason I ask this is that with keep-attachment OFF, the message body correctly has the text in it...
    Regards,
    Jason.

  • Questions Working with Mail receiver Adapter..!!

    Hi,
    Mail adapter connection is working now when I downloaded the xsd and executed in the mapping as described in the blog.
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address
    Connection is working fine now, but im getting the below payload.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <ns1:Mail xmlns:ns1="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Mail/30">
    <Subject>TESTING</Subject>
    <From>deepthi at testing.com</From>
    <To>deepthi at testing.com</To>
    <Content>Testing purpose</Content>
    </ns1:Mail>
    The question is how to get my actual message which looks like below. this is the Idoc to file map and the resultant output file looks like below
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ns0:order xmlns:ns0="http://testing/xi/OrderProcessing">
    <document_type>ZU</document_type>
    <vendor_number>200000</vendor_number>
    <vendor_email_address/>
    <vendor_address_line_1>XXXXXX</vendor_address_line_1>
    <vendor_address_line_2>XXXXXXXXX</vendor_address_line_2>
    <vendor_address_line_3>123242343244566</vendor_address_line_3>

    <delivery_address_line_1>1433</delivery_address_line_1>
    <delivery_address_line_2>test</delivery_address_line_2>
    </ns0:order>
    How to send this file as email attachment using mail adapter. Do I need to use 2 maps?
    looks like Mail adapter is working only when we use the xsd which is given above and by providing the required details.
    Kindly help me if anyone worked on mail adapters.
    Thanks
    Deepthi,

    Hi,
    Always ASMA overides the Basic Config.
    Now in mapping create a Udf and set the value of THeaderSUBJECT as u want... the subject line will change accordingly..
    Now to change the name of file dynamaically we have 2 ways as per my knowlwdge...
    1. Go for Java mapping and in the mapping u  set the file name dynamically.
    Please go through /people/stefan.grube/blog/2007/04/17/xi-mail-adapter-an-approach-for-sending-emails-with-attachment-with-help-of-java-mapping
    2. Using an adapter module. (Of course a small code required here, but if you are developing adapter module first time.. try to avoid it)
    I guess Java mapping is best option...

  • Mail adapter configuration

    Hi all,
      I am using the mail adapter to send mails to end users for a certain process from the integration server. The SXMB_MONI doesn’t give me any errors but I cannot see the mail coming through. On viewing the adapter monitor, I don’t see the mail adapter in the monitor though I have configured the mail adapter in the directory settings. Am I missing something? Do I have to do something extra to get the mail adapter into the adapter monitor? When I run the “trace , I am able to see the following error
    <Trace level="3" type="T" />
      <Trace level="3" type="T">Unknown channel type: Mail</Trace>
      <Trace level="3" type="T" />
    Any ideas please…

    Hi Teresa,
    If your XI system in on SP9 then check this OSS note:789584
    It describes the solution for the problem "The XI 3.0 Adapter Monitor does not display the status of the mail adapters in detail"
    This will atleast help you see what is happening with the mail adapter.
    You may also want to check these OSS notes:

    use the StructXML2Plain or XML2Plain from the standard MessageTransformBean
    Add the module to you Mail adapter before the mail adapters standard module itself
