Mail, Add To Aperture

Has anyone whose upgraded to Mavericks noticed if Mail has added an Add To Aperture feature for saving/importing photos from Mail directly into Aperture?
Similar to the Add To iPhoto feature that already exists in Mountain Lion?

Actually, since iPhoto and Aperture now share the same library, adding the photo to iPhoto by definition makes the photo available under Aperture as well.
But only, if you have opened the Aperture Library as the current iPhoto Library. If you are using iPhot and aperture on different libraries, to be able to compare two photo libraries opened at the same time, you are out of luck.
In Mail, there is a Save pull down menu. Did Mavericks add Aperture?
I don't see these menus any more in Mail.app in Mavericks, only the contextual menu I have shown in the screenshot. To save an attachment, I ctrl-click the attachment. And then I can "Export to iPhoto", but not to the current Aperture library - unless it happens to be the iPhoto library as well, as Rex Ross pointed out.

An omission in Mail? It would be nice to see an option, when receiving photos or videos to "Add to Aperture" as well as "Add to iPhoto." Seems Aperture 3 is relegated to being the stepchild of iPhoto with this half-hearted integration.

I myself absolutely don't feel the need to import images that people mail to me, why not just keep them in the Finder?
A great many serious and pro photographers will agree with you.
    But.
Now that Aperture 3 is being heavily marketed as an app for folks outgrowing iPhoto then such folks will expect that features they take for granted in iPhoto to be also present in Aperture.
I think you might be able to make a service with Automator that will do the job for you. Otherwise:
Aperture menu -> Provide Aperture Feedback

Is there a way to modify Mail.app so that i can choose ADD TO APERTURE rather than to iPhoto?

You can do something very similar with Automator and save it as a workflow, invoke it from your contextual menu.
As to specifically hacking Mail or Quicklook best to post those on the Mail and/or Finder forums.

  • Un-installing apple mail add on

    Hi
i have some apple mail add-ons that was disabled after my last update to system so from where i can find and remove them as they don't appear in applications folder ?

Many add-ons (like GPGMail) go in your user account Library/Mail/MailBundles and will land up in your user account Library/Mail/MailBundles (Disabled). At least that's where I think they go, I recently cleaned out a broken-by-10.6.6 GPGMail so the path may not be right but it's got "Bundles" and "Disabled" in its name.
One other thing that I have found that I had to do was trash my Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist which was a hassle because of the customization with the toolbar and accounts that gets blown away. The work-around for that, for in the future, is that before you add any mail add-ons, is to make a copy of your user account Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist before you add your add-on. That way, when an update breaks your add-on, you trash the MailBundles (Disabled) folder and the current com.apple.mail.plist and copy the old com.apple.mail.plist.saved back to the com.apple.mail.

    Hello,
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

When I click "add vault" aperture quits unexpectedly. Can anyone help?
Thank you in advance for any help. It is greatly appreciated.

Do you get a crash report? if so cut and paste the first 50 lines of the report here.
Are you really using Aperture 2 on Lion?
You can try making a new empty library and see if the ad vault command works with the new library. If that fails try making a new user on your system log in as that user and run Aperture on a new library and try the command. Doing these two things will help determine if the problem is system wide or if it is something in your account/library.

  • How can I add Apple Aperture which was bought on DVD to my App Store inventory?

Some time ago I have bought Apple Aperture the classical way (in a box with a DVD). Is there a way to add this "physical license" to my list of App Store purchases?
    Cheers,
    - Ralf

No. As noted both ways are separate.
Originally the MAS would recognize Apple software installed by the 'old' way - I have iWork installed and it was recognized - but - that ability was removed after several monts. What you buy as physical and as digital are separate.

  • Mac Mail - Add Account Options

My mac mail will not give me "account type" options. How do I get the option to select an account type. When I go to preferences and click on the "+" button to add an account I just get the screen that says enter your name email address and password. I don't get a screen that says "choose a mail account to add". Please help. I'd like to add an exchange account.

Try holding down the option key when you hit continue. That should allow for a manual setup.

  • Mail - add recipient from address book?

I may be missing something obvious, but how do I add a recipient in Mail under Lion?
If I start typing a name or address it will autocomplete, but I cannot find the button that will take me into address book to look through my contacts.
    Is it just me?
    TIA.

I could not, however, drag the Address Button from the main mail screen to the composition screen as suggested by IanB, whether in FSM or not, whether whilst customising or not. When customising it simply went up in a puff of smoke, and when not customing, it simply would not move.
That should work, provided you are trying to customize the toolbar in the message composer and not the message viewer.
You have to move the tool you want to add to that little rectangle next to the tools already in the toolbar.
Leroy's right though.  Doesn't work in full-screen mode.

  • Track Shipments in Mail add More services

Through the “data detectors” coded into OS X , Safari and Mail is able to detect a tracking number from USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
I wonder if I can add more Postal Office like DHL, china post, Argentina post, etc  to track the shipments.
    Thanks.

I think you'd need an app that has new data detectors.
The developer docs has the details that suggests it works from 10.7

  • Can Mail add the date of an email and a link to the email in Address Book?

I seem to remember back in the days when I used Entourage, that there was a feature that allowed me to have the email program add a date and link to the email in the address book file for the email recipient. Is there a script or anything that would allow that automation?
I would like to be able to open a persons address book file and see all of the emails I sent to that person in Address Book. I know I could do a search in Mail for that address, but it would be sweet if I could have a record of all the emails sent to a given person with a link to each email directly from within Address Book.
Am I crazy or is this something others would like? Or, am I missing a little box somewhere that I need to click somewhere?...

What you're wanting is not a feature in any mail client, so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it to appear in Mail, or Address Book.
If you want to keep track of all the emails sent to or from a particular person, you'd need to create Smart Mailboxes for all of them and rules to route Sent mail from each person's address to those respective mailboxes. If that's too much work for you, you can still do a search by name in Mail and select whether you're looking for mail sent From, or To that person and all of them will appear, except any you may have deleted.

  • Looking for an old mail add on

A while back I was running Snow Leopard & had installed an add on to the apple mail program that allowed me to alter the window showing the new incoming posts to where I could hi lite an email & the contents would show in a window to the right of the list of all the received emails. I have a friend still running 10.6.8 & I would like to instal it on her computer. Anyone remember what the program was called?

No problem, it's not about points

  • C3 - mail add account - other giving 'server not f...

    Hi,
I've tried this on both 3G and WLAN.
    - Select Add Account in Mail
    - Select "Other"
    - Enter a personal imap server that works with AppleMail, Thunderbird, a Nokia N95, MailToWeb, (you get the picture)
    - Enter the user credentials
    - Do the same for the SMTP server (SSL auth to my fastmail account)
    - Hit "sign in"
    The result
    "Server not found"
Can anyone from Nokia help out please.  It's a shame the N95 8G died, as we did at least have working mail for this.

    andrewrob,
I had the same problem and found that I had to unlock CAPTCHA here: http://www.google.com/  accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha.
This worked for me. If that doesn't work, you could try this:
    1. Open Keychain Access (located inside the Utilities folder which is inside the Applications folder)
    2. Highlight the login keychain in the white box to the left.
    3. Click the lock above it to lock the login keychain.
    4. Now unlock it.
    5. Go back to Mail and enter your password again. You will probably have to do it once for incoming mail and once for outgoing mail.
    I hope this helps!

  • Emails composed using the "new message" in the Get Mail add-on do not get sent until default email account is opened.

Had this add on before using Outlook Express - worked really well. Now using Office Outlook and find that emails do not get sent until I open up the email program. Read the FAQ here http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Changing%20the%20e-mail%20program%20used%20by%20Firefox and followed instructions but has not fixed the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Whatever the reasons are that you think the problem exists, you will not be able to resolve it on your own. Did you see this at the bottom of the support article that I suggested that you read?
    Additional Information
If the issue persists, you can visit iCloud Support, iTunes Support, Apple Print Products, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.
You should probably contact iTunes Support.

  • Why won't mail add contact to address book?

When I click on the email address in the "From" field of a message in Mail, I get the option to "Add to Address Book." But it doesn't actually add the contact; when I search my address book forby that name, nothing comes up. When I then go back to Mail, I again get the "Add to Address Book" option. I "Add" again, then click "Show Contact Card," and I see something like "740ACE68-521B-4FDC-AA9B-42583457345...:ABPerson." When I click "Open with Address Book," again there's no entry.
Running OS 10.7.5 I've run Disk Utility to Repair Permissions, but that hasn't helped. I've looked for any files including "Address Book" in Preferences and Cache, but there aren't any.
    Any ideas??
    Thank you!

Just solved the problem myself after finally finding someone else had the problem. Had to change permissions of Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Address Book/AddressBook-v22.abcddb
In case any one else has this problem!
