Mail, Addressbook and iCal from MobileMe to iCloud

Morning.
We are using a MobileMe family account. I would like to switch to iCloud. But at least two Macs in our family are G4 PowerPC. So we can not install at these machines Lion.
Can we use the email, calendar and address book services of iCloud? Or should we look for an alternative provider?

The best that I have been able to gather (for me) is that I need to update to LION OS (my computer is too old to support it, so I guss I have to wait until I get a new computer)

What exactly is the correct procedure on how to download photos and files from MobileMe (to iCloud)?
Does this mean something needs to be done with iPhoto files? or is it automatic once you sign on to iCloud? (usually the Mac directions are so clear...I am not sure what is going on here at all)
Additionally, if iPhoto files vary on multiple devices, how do ya be sure all photos are saved/downloaded or whatever?

As I mentioned in your other post, you cannot upload photos to iCloud. You will need to find somewhere else to put them.

Update: I was able to get a genius appt. and they helped set it to work with Caldev etc for ical and same with mail; contacts etc.

For years I had a mobileMe account and a different iTunes account -so 2 apple ID's.
Now I want to use my iTunes apple ID and have already made an icloud for this. I have also moved my MobileMe acount and therefor have to clouds.
Hov can I move my contacts and iCal from my old Mobileme (now iCloud) to my iCloud that I use for iTunes??
By other words; I only want ONE I cloud.
I really appreciate every helt I can get!

You have two options:
1. You can manually copy the calendars and contacts to your new iCloud account by setting up your MobileMe iCloud account in Mail, Contacts, Calendars prefs on the mac. Then just copy the calendars in iCal or Address Book contacts to the other account.
2. You can just sign in with both accounts. This seems like the best option. On your devices, just set up the first iCloud account as your iTunes account, and then set up ANOTHER iCloud account for the contacts and calendars. You are allowed to have multiple accounts signed in at once but you can only use one for purchases and photostream etc (which will be your iTunes account).
The merging of both accounts is not possible at the moment.

Well, seems I managed to unscrew this...I deleted my iCloud mail account and reinstalled it on my phone. That got rid of the duplicate .me/.mac email accounts.

Is calendar syncing enabled on both the computer and the phone.
Are your calendars in your iCloud group and not in a on my mac group.
only calendars in the iCloud group will sync.

Yesterday I moved from MobileMe to iCloud. Everything moved. Today I entered new events on my iPhone and they synced to iCloud, but not to iCal on my MacBook. Any thoughts as to why?

I am using iCloud, been on it for weeks and the calendars and contacts work for me but they don't work for my wife's profile. I am running 10.7.2 on our MacBook and our iMac desktop. We have a lot of devices and I'm struggling to get them all on the same page. We each have our own iPhones and we share an iPad, so that's five total devices I'm trying to sync via iCloud.
Specifically, she updates contacts on iPhone and they never sync with desktop... its been weeks and they still haven't synced. when I go to iTunes the options are the same as I did for my profile...

Unfortunately you can't, the additional storage belongs to your first account, you can't transfer it.

That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.

Just use your current Apple ID when you setup your iCloud account that you use for your devices.

I've migrated from MobileMe to iCloud - can I still access my iDisk on my Mac and how?

I've just migrated from MobileMe to iCloud and have noticed that iDisk on my Mac has disappeared. Is there still a way for me to access my iDisk on my Mac? Can I still sync with it before MobileMe is canceled altogether (June 2012)?

iDisk is not a feature of iCloud.
However, just log back into MobileMe in the MobileMe system preferences pane and your iDisk will be accessible again.

Transitioned from MobileMe to iCloud, need iCal help!

I've made the transition from MobileMe to iCloud. My Macbook's system prefs shows on iCloud account, using my mobileme email. My iCal however, only shows my me.com calendars, while the iCloud.com online calendar only shows the two default calendars. Am I missing something?

if you do not see calendar entries, check icloud.com and see if they exist in www calendar version.

hello all i recently changed from MobileMe to Icloud and have lost all of my Calendar events, is there a way to recover these events and if so HOW???

At the top it does say All contacts, when I select that I only get my Exchange contacts. On the Groups page I have All Contacts, then Exchange and at the bottom All iCloud. If I select All icloud I only see one contact, mine?!
I do not see any list with my [email protected] My contacts were initially on MobileMe, when I got my iPhone 4 I transfered them to the phone so they were stored on both. I was synching with my me.com account and when I was on iCloud the contacts were nowhere to be found.
I just spoke to an Apple "genius", they told me I probably messed up the backup on outlook, my contacts are lost forever. Starting to wonder why I chose Mac, in this case I got done just like with Microsoft!!
