Mail Alert tones not changeable

The MAil alert tones should be changeable and volume adjustable. One small beep is not sufficient to hear in most environments.

  • New Mail Alert Tone no longer working

I didn't change any settings and in my preferences, it's still set for the new mail alert tone to sound when I get new mail. However, as of yesterday, it's no longer working. I still get the sound when I send mail out, just not when new mail comes in. How do I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Carole

Ok, this is weird. This morning my new mail alert tone started working again. I have no idea what made it stop, or what made it come back on.

  • Iphone 4 Alerts Tones Not Working / Ringer Is WORKING KINDLY REPLY ME

HI , PLEASE HELP ME I WANT TO FIX THIS ISSUE THAT I AM GETTING PLEASE HELP
MY ISSUE IS IPHONE 4 ALERTS TONES NOT WORKING AND CALL RINGER IS WORKING.. PLEASE HELP ME!

If the iPhone came from the US then it is locked to AT&T. To unlock an iPhone the original carrier is the only one who can unlock the iPhone and AT&T will not unlock iPhones. So there is not official way to unlock the iPhone 4.
At this point there is no way to hack the iPhone 4 running 4.2.1 to unlock it either so the phone and messaging apps will never work. You basically have an iPod touch.

  • Mail alert tone

I cannot seem to figure out how to change the alert tone for mail. Is there a way? I've heard Other iPhones with different mail sounds but not sure how they did it.

The standard iOS mail app only has two options, no sound, or the default sound. I personally use a third party app that provides push support and custom alert tones for incoming email. The app I use is PushMail.

  • Unwanted mail alert tone

Have my mail (Yahoo) alert tone set to "none" and I still get a "tweet" sound no matter what. I've tried changing it to different tones and it still just "tweets". What to do???

Hi This sounds may come from Yahoo direct if it does you can't stop the sound it's not your iPhone settings. Cheers Brian

  • IOS 5 - New Alert Tones not playing

After updating to iOS 5, I purchased some new Alert Tones to customize my notifications (text, calendar, etc..), BUT the new tones will not play when my notifications pop up.  I switched back to the default tones and it worked fine and I get the sound, but anytime I switch to any of my purchased tones I don't get any sound.
    Anyone else experience this?

After messing with it for a while, I finally rebooted the phone and the sounds now work.

  • Annonying mail alert tones!

Lemme just start off by saying I'm super excited to finally get Exchange support on the iPhone. I set it up today and it works pretty well. The 1 thing that bothers me is that new mail message alerts can only be turned off or on for ALL email accounts. I'd like to have the phone audibly alert me when I get when I get mail on my personal accounts (yahoo, gmail, mac) but not on my exchange office mail (since I can get 100's of those a day). Taking it a step further, I'd like to maybe be audibly alerted when I get mail in a specific folder ONLY on my Exchange mails. For example any email that goes in a folder marked "Personal" in my office exchange mail I get alerted for and not the other mail in other folders within that account that I'm getting.
Not sure if Apple will ever fix this, but I'm sure I'm not the only one having these issues or would like this fix.
    Thanks!

  • Nokia Messaging 6303i classic - no e-mail alerts

    Hi all,
I have a problem with Nokia Messaging on my new phone - Nokia 6303i classic. The problem is that I can't enable the e-mail alert option - when I tick the "Alert me for new e-mail" option, it says "E-mail alerts not available. Alerts option ot available". My e-mail account is in Gmail. My service provider (VIVACOM, Bulgaria) says that they support Nokia Messaging and that it's up to some settings (which they apparently can't figure out!). I have all the necessary settings to access the internet and the phone browser works great; Nokia Messaging also works - connects to my Gmail account, receives messages, the only problem is with new e-mail alerts.
I know 6303i doesn't support multitasking - could the problem be related to this (e-mail client unable to run in the background)?
I used a Nokia 2330 before and it had a native e-mail client with far more capabilities - no problem with e-mail alerts, could edit (copy/paste) received e-mail body text (a very useful function which lacks in Nokia Messaging!) - can I get that on my 6303i instead of Nokia Messaging?
    Phone firmware version: V10.80/21-01-11/RM-638
    Nokia Messaging version: 1.3.49
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    N. Y.

I recieved an update from Nokia support center. For everyone wondering, here's the deal, as far as I get it 6303i comes with embedded Nokia messaging application instead of the usual s40 native e-mail client; that's why there's no e-mail alert tone option in the profiles' settings. However, when you try to enable e-mail alerts from inside the Nokia Messagign application, you get an error message stating that this option is unavailable. What I could make out is that, as s40 doesn't support multitasking, Nokia Messaging can't be left running in the background and therefore can't alert you on new e-mails. As I see it, it's a design failure.
Nokia, if you couldn't make Nokia Messaging e-mail alerts work in s40, why didn't you just leave the good old native e-mail client, for crying out loud???!!!

  • Missing alert tones

I bought a few alert tones on my iPhone 5.  Device was lifted while at the airport.
Was not able to backup (iCloud) some content that was procured prior to the lifting.  Moved to a new iPhone 5 and was able to download everything with the exception of the alert tones I procured from iTunes.
When i go to the same tones in the store (from my iPhone) it does not give me a download option like it would with music or movies.  When i try to buy the tone again, it tells me that i have already aquired the tone and asks if I want to buy it again.
Given that iTunes clearly knows that I have procured the rights to the tone, where is the option to re-download it?
Also, why on earth is the ringtone and alert tone not part of the iTunes store section from the web?
    Regards,
    RK

You cannot redownload tones.  They are not included in icloud re-download.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking fo an exception.

  • E71 Different email alert tones

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to have different alert tones for different email accounts? I have three email accounts set up on my E71 but when I get an alert, I never know which account it is so I have to check all three, which is a bit annoying. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There is a single mail alert tone in the tone settings, all accounts are therefore limited to that one choice, unfortunately.

  • LOM, ALOM, RSC, ILOM mail alerts

    Hi,
I just want to get to the bottom of this. Anyone else who experiences problems with ALOM/RSC/ILOM/LOM email alerts please post here!
I have done an audit of all my systems and found the following:
    T5220 with latest firmware:
    Sun System Firmware 7.2.0 2008/12/11 17:58
    Host flash versions:
    Hypervisor 1.7.0 2008/12/11 13:38
    OBP 4.30.0 2008/12/11 12:15
    POST 4.30.0 2008/12/11 12:43
    Mail alerts work fine here
    T2000 with latest firmware:
    Sun-Fire-T2000 System Firmware 6.7.0 2008/12/11 14:54
    Host flash versions:
    OBP 4.30.0 2008/12/11 12:15
    Hypervisor 1.7.0 2008/12/11 13:43
    POST 4.30.0 2008/12/11 12:41
Mail alerts do not work. Sun advises me to
change my Production mail server to allow
    broken sender header "[email protected]".
    This is not good enough.
    V240 with ALOM 1.6.8:
    Mail alerts work fine.
    V490 with RSC 2.2.2:
    sc> showsc
    RSC Version: 2.2.2
    RSC Bootmon version: 2.2.2
    RSC Firmware version: 2.2.2
    Email alerts work fine!!!!
    V490 with RSC 2.2.3:
    rsc> showsc
    RSC Version: 2.2.3
    RSC Bootmon version: 2.2.2
    RSC Firmware version: 2.2.3
    Email alerts do not work.
So we have a case where Sun RSC is broken from RSC 2.2.3 onwards.
We have a case where the ALOM on a V240 works perfectly but the T2000 is totally b0rked and
Sun is not interested in fixing it.
So can anyone concur with my findings? Do we sort of get together and request
    en-masse to get these fixed?
It would seem the programming of the SC/ALOM/ILOM/RSC are all inconsistent.
Some of them are well behaved. Some are configured in such a way I would
fail anyone submitting such work as homework etc.
I honestly believe if a service such as an RSC is setup to send email,
it should do it in a method that ensures as little risk of non-delivery
as possible, such as being able to set a hostname/domain for the sender.
As is indicated above, it appears the precedent is set for the technology
to be able to do so, but there is an inconsistent approach to this in the
Sun shop where the RSC/LOM etc are developed.
So while we're at it, how about Sun standardising the RSC across
their product line so we only have to use and support one interface?!

    Problem
Email alerts from ILOM not working. Test box is a T5140.
    Complication
ALOM systems using the same email server have no problem.
    Analysis
ILOM changed the format of the email address.
    Old [ALOM] = alom-alert@[alom_IP]
    New [ILOM] = ilom-alert@ilom_IP
The one that works has [] surrounding the IP.
Note: the other problem was that under certain firmwares, the “Send Test Alert” function in the GUI was broken. As this is how I tested ILOM email functionality, I thought it was broken when only the send mechanism was broken.
Paul Quattrociocchi from Sun found this:
    Document ID:     6633026
Title:     Unable to use e-mail alert notifications via ILOM due to
    IP domain in address
For example, sendmail v8.9+ will not accept "domain literal" address
([ipaddress] is a domain literal). But it does accept "@1.2.3.4"
    Just fine.
So some mailers accept @1.2.3.4, some accept @[1.2.3.4]. But it
doesn't look like we can be guaranteed that any one style will work.
CR 6410008 is the same as the ILOM issue. They fixed it by quoting
RFC 2821 and changing the address to "ilom-alert@[10.100.14.104]".
The mail server that was failing showed the following in its logs [I’ve removed the SMTP server and client ILOM info]:
    Feb 25 10:53:22 SMTP_server postfix/smtpd[29222]: [ID 197553 mail.info] connect from ILOM_card
    Feb 25 10:53:22 SMTP_server postfix/smtpd[29222]: [ID 947731 mail.warning] warning: Illegal address syntax from ILOM_card in MAIL command: ilom-alert@IP_address
    Feb 25 10:53:22 SMTP_server postfix/smtpd[29222]: [ID 197553 mail.info] disconnect from ILOM_card
Fix [this is specific to the T5x40 but there are likely releases for other platforms]
    Document ID:     139444-01
Title:     Hardware PROM: SPARC Enterprise T5140 & T5240 Sun System
    Firmware LDOMS
    Sun System Firmware 7.2.0 2008/12/11 18:19
    ILOM 3.0.2.50 Dec 11 18:19:11 PST 2008
    VBSC 1.7.0 Dec 11 2008 17:20:47
    Hypervisor 1.7.0 2008/12/11 13:40
    OBP 4.30.0 2008/12/11 12:16
    POST 4.30.0 2008/12/11 12:44
From the GUI you select update ILOM, but it updates everything.
This allows you to change the format of the return email address to something the SMTP server will accept.
    The short-term fix
Change email servers to one that accepts the new format [no guarantee this will keep working].
If you set the sc_clieventlevel to 3 [minor] and do something, anything, that triggers an event [logging in to the GUI, logging out of the GUI, etc], you will cause email to be sent.

  • Mail alert choices

hello all, I was wondering if it is possible to have a different mail alert sounds to help identify specific emails when they arrive. Is this something that might be possible from a app? Thanks for any help and advice.

Unfortunately, there is no choice regarding mail alert tone and none was announced for the 3.0 firmware. Also, no 3rd party app can supply this since the iPhone OS doesn't allow access to core phone functions. You can request this, and maybe it will eventually be added:

  • Unwanted Alert Tones - 920

How do you turn off the 'unwanted' tone alert which sounds many times a day and there is no info or message to look at. I have turned off all 'Play a sound for' in ringtones section except New text and New Email. This unwanted alert tone not only annoys me, but anyone else standing near to me.
I was told that when the Nokia upate 8.0.10 is released, it would remedy this - WRONG, I have updated today and it still bleeps at me!!!!
This is really important and I would be so grateful for anyones help here.

Agreed. It's probably something like Skype, a twitter client or a facebook app giving you toast notifications.
