Mail and iMessage sync troubles in Mountain Lion

Hi,
I have;
iPhone 4 (latest iOS)
iPad 2 (latest iOS)
MacBook Pro 13" - mid 2012 (osX Mountain Lion)
I have three questions, hope one (or more) of you can help!
1) I noticed that iMessages I receive on my iPhone and iPad when my MBP is turned off or in standby, don't show up in the appropriate conversation on my MBP after I turn it on and start iMessage. It only syncs iMessages sent from after starting up my MBP and onwards. So not all my conversations are in sync on all my devices, as Apple advertises.
Is there a setting I've missed? Is something wrong? Or is this just the way it works for all of us?
2) Also, I sometimes receive iMessages on my iPhone and MBP at roughly the same time (2 to 3 secs. apart), and only 30 to 50 secs later on my iPad. This wile all three devices are on the same WiFi network, all with best connection. Do any of you have the same problem?
3) Also, as this MBP is my first osX product, I was wondering if there's a way to receive emails without opening the app. Now, when I turn on my MBP nothing happens in both the Mail app as in Notification Centre. But when I launch the Mail app, mails come flouding in and suddenly Notification Centre is full as well.
So in short, my question would be; is there a way to receive emails without opening the app? Just like in iOS so to say.
Hope to get some answers on my questions!
Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm having the same problem in a different part of Preferences.
I keep unchecking "Logoff after X minutes of activity" in the Security and Privacy section. After restarting the setting is checked and enabled again.
My user is a network user connected to a Mountain Lion Server. I've tried the same things with different users and computers with the same results.

No, I don't know about that kind of software. It isn't Pages anyway. You need somekind of database.

  • When syncing calendars between mountain lion and ios6 on iCloud, the times of events change

When I sync calendars between my iphone 4s running ios6 and my macbook pro running mountain lion 10.8.2 using icloud, the start times and end times of my events change ... very frustrating !!!

This is usually due to one of the two devices having the wrong time or being in the wrong time zone.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Try the action that you're having trouble with again. Post any messages that appear in the Console window – the text, please, not a screenshot.

  • I am not being able to attach a pdf file to my apple mail after upgrading to os X mountain lion

Hi, I was easily able to attach pdf files to my apple mail.  infact I could just open a pdf file and then send it as attachment in the email earlier. but after downloading and upgrading to os X Mountain lion, I am neither being able to attach and send pdf files in my apple mail, nor can I send PDF file as an attachment.
Is there any issue with OS X Mountain Lion.

    Hi, Thanks for the response.
I compose an Email, now I wish to attach a pdf file, I select attach, navigate. select the file, then click on attach.
It shows as attached in the body of my Email ( either as an icon, or the first page of file).
When I send it to the receiver ,  it is not present as attachment in the receiver's email.
whereas the same file when I attach and send through gmail, it goes properly.
    Issue no.2
I open a PDF file.  I go to file > attach to Email > on the right hand side, appears a menu where I click on the attach link,  and I get this message
The SendMail doesn't know how to talk to your default mail client.  Please select a different mail application to use.

  • Two iMessage Accounts on OSX Mountain Lion???

Is it possible to have two iMessage accounts on OSX Mountain Lion?  My wife and I have our own phones with separate Apple IDs for use in iCloud, etc, but share a computer at home.  We would like to be able to use the iMessage functionality in Messages without having to switch between user accounts on the computer.  I don't see a way to add a second iMessage acount on the computer version of Messages.
Please let me know if this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

    Hi,
    It is not possible.

  • How can I recover my Notes from mail in Leopard after updating to Mountain Lion?

I had Snow Leoppard and I used to save so many notes in "mail". When I switched to Mountain Lion, it seems all notes are disappeared. I can get the notes from my iphone and ipad, but not the ones in my "mail". I appreciate if you help me, since those notes were crucial for me.
    Best,

    Via Google translate
estimates, aluguna help activating iMessage and facetime in mountain lion? I have tried to do it and I get an activation code appears and I contact technical support, the problem is that there is no support in chile and less appstore
Sometimes the app will tell you to "Contact Support" and give some numbers for you to do so.
It should also provide a link button to access Support.
I take it that this is the part that is not working ?
A veces, la aplicación le dirá que "Contact Support" y dar algunos números para que lo haga.
También debe proporcionar un botón de enlace para acceder a la Asistencia.
Supongo que esta es la parte que no está funcionando?
Where is the closest place that is likely to have Apple Support in a language that is helpful to you ?
It may pay to ring there and ask them to help.
¿Dónde está el lugar más cercano que es probable que tenga soporte de Apple en un lenguaje que es útil para usted?
Puede pagar a sonar allí y pedirles que le ayuden.
If you are getting the "Contact Support" Error dialogue there is no other fix.
Si usted está consiguiendo el "Contact Support" diálogo de error que no hay otra solución

  • Mail keeps launching since I installed Mountain Lion

I do not use Apple Mail. Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion it keeps launching and demanding my attention. How can I stop this?

I've been a Mac user since 1984 and this is one of the more frustrating times I've had with Macs.
I'm having the same problem. You can't delete the Mail app so the best I've been able to do is go in and edit settings to remove all email accounts that Mail thinks I have. That didn't stop it, however. It just reduced the amount of alerts I kept getting. Turning off notifications for Mail doesn't help, either. It just keeps launching several times a day. I use Gmail and don't need Mail.

  • Poor stability and performance after install of Mountain Lion

I installed Mountain Lion a few weeks ago and noticed the iMac has slowed considerably. Th emost important app is Final Cut Pro X and I upgraded to 10.0 6 and this has been a disaster. The machine regularly freezes and the only recourse is to power off and start again. Before Mountain Lion I never had occasion to turn the machine off. Now it happens regualarly. I usually cannot SHUT DOWN /RESTART as the machine just hangs and I then have to power off at the mains
I use Mackeeper and this seems to have little effect. I have tried:
Disk verify and repairs on all disks. I have 2 external HDDs - 1 Firewire for FCP X and an external 2TB USB.
Running Mackeeper and deleting rubbish regualrly.
None of the disks is very full. System disk (500GB) with applications and mail - 430 GB free; Firewire Disk (500GB)  380 GB free
I have tried to download OSX Mountain Lion again and the download freezes with a message 'Waiting'....I beleive a reinstall would help but cannot get a clean download.
I seem to have reached the end of my competences with this mache. It is just 3 years old, 4GB iMac 2.66GHz, 20" screen.
I would really appreciate some advice on resolving this series of performance and stability problems
    Richard

Get "rid" of Mackeeper!  That is a good part of your problem of slowing.  There have been endless comments in these Forums by the expert Users that Mackeeper is more like a Malware than a legitimate app, and it is documented as having adverse effects on system speed and stability.  Feel free to do a Search in this Forum for "Mackeeper" if you doubt me.
Note:  You will need to do a Google search for the means of removing Mackeeper.  Its Developers coded it to be very difficult to remove.  Simply dragging it to the Trash will NOT work.
    Hope this helps

  • My iMac goes to disc utilities on startup, repair disk doesn't cure it and I can't reinstall Mountain Lion because I don't remember my I'd and password at the time I bought the software. Currently working abroad and at a loss can anyone help please?

My iMac goes to disc utilities on startup, repair disk doesn't cure it and I can't reinstall Mountain Lion because I don't remember my ID and password at the time I bought the software the system isn't accepting my current details and Apple isn't recognising the answers to my security questions.  They don't even seem to have my correc date of birth so I can't progress the reinstallation.  I'm currently abroad and have my iMac with me but with no way of contacting Apple that I can find, I'm at a loss and very reluctant to pay £35 to try and get my ID and pasword sorted out given that their system recognises my current details.  can anyone help please?

when they gifted me the mountain Lion software several years ago.
Mountain Lion was introduced in July 2012. Did the people who gifted you possibly use their Apple ID for the purchase of your OS? If you used your own Apple ID, you should have simply used the one you use for all things app store. The problem with any purchase at the app store is: whatever Apple ID was used to purchase, it willl stay tied to that Apple ID forever. And, purchases from the app store are not transferable.
So, you can check with the person(s) who gifted you or spend $20 to buy it - or, if your hardware is compatible with the new OS Mavericks, you could download it and associate it with your Apple ID.
FWIW, according to the licensing agreement, the OS remains the property of Apple and you are only granted a license to run it.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Check if your computer is compatible with Snow Leopard > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 If it's supported, cal Apple to buy Snow Leopard > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 Then, make a backup, insert the DVD and upgrade. Finally, open Apple menu > Software Update and install the latest version.
Check if your Mac is supported > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's supported, open App Store and purchase OS X. Check if your programs are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase harddisk and install Leopard Snow Leopard Mountain Lion. Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase the harddisk and install Leopard > Snow Leopard > Mountain Lion.
Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion?

I tried and failed for several hours to install Mountain Lion, and was repeatedly getting the "Recovery System" cannot be created error.  I tried all the tricks: resizing the drive partition, booting from an external boot drive, all to no avail.  After reading other users struggling with the same issue, I had determined it to be a boot camp drive error.  However, I didn't want to have to erase and begin anew when I came upon a possible solution.  I had long ago renamed my boot camp drive with a "." (".windows" for me) in order to avoid having the partition show up on my desktop.  So, I boot into windows and renamed the c: drive without the "." ("windows"), and reboot into os x.  The install then went off without a hitch.  I hope this will be helpful for others struggling with this issue that may have renamed their boot camp drives in a similar manner.

    Hi Fred,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
