Mail and Microsoft exchange server problems

My company is moving to Microsoft exchange servers now, and for some reason, Mail cannot work.
There are several settings that are possible to set in Thunderbird, but that are not even options in Mail. These are settings such as "TLS".
Is there any way to make the same settings in mail that are possible in Thunderbird?

Hi Budgie
I can confirm that provided your administrator configures the Exchange server for IMAP (Mail uses IMAP to connect) that yes, Mail can be used effectively with Exchange and messages will remain on the server; though the set up can be misleading.
For me at least, when you get to Outgoing Server Settings, the set-up panel does not allow you to enter an authentication type, and entering my user name and password will get the following response:
The SMTP server “xxxxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com:username” is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the “Outgoing Mail Server” field. If it still doesn’t respond, the server might be temporarily unavailable.
If you continue, you may not be able to send any mail.
When I click continue, the authentication panel comes up, and by changing authentication to NTLM and entering the Domain name - everything works perfectly!
The only other nuisance is that Mail looks at the Exchange Calendar and Personal Folders/Contacts folders as mail folders, but cannot display the contents in the way Outlook or Entourage does, and I have not found a way of eliminating them from the folder list.
I hope this helps.

  • Oracle alerts and microsoft exchange server

    Hi,
We are working on Oracle Applications 11i (fail over on 2 servers) which is installed on Solaris 64 bit .
AND I am trying to configure Oracle Alerts with Microsoft Exchange Server.
I am following the note: Oracle Applications And Microsoft Exchange Server-Interoperability Guide.
At the step of configuring the exchange Server I need to know the account used to run the Concurrent Manager service.
    How can i check that?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
At the step of configuring the exchange Server I need to know the account used to run the Concurrent Manager service.
How can i check that? Most probably it is applmgr user.
To verify, issue "cd $COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>", then "ls -l adcmctl.sh". This should should the OS owner of the script (the OS user which is used to start the CM). Or, you could check the value of the "s_appsuser" context variable in the application context file to determine the user.

  • Mail on Microsoft Exchange Server

It seems as though this topic has been beaten to death. I've read nearly every post about getting Mail to work on Microsoft Exchange servers, but I can't make it work on ours.
I am fully functional on the Exchange server using Entourage. However, I simply cannot figure out how to make Mail work on the Exchange server. It seems like some have had luck using the account type IMAP and some using account type Exchange.
I've entered nearly every possible combination of settings, but have had no luck. Is there at least an explanation as to why Entourage will work but Mail won't? I'd still love to get Mail working...any ideas?
    Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi pblakes9,
I can try and help, I have 10 Macs running 10.4.8 and 3 running 10.4.10 all using Apple Mail with the Exchange Server and no problems.
I have them all set up the same using the account type "Exchange".
Before Apple added that as an option, we had them set up using IMAP.
However it seams that even the account type called "Exchange" is using a IMAP protocal. (excuse me if that is not the right term) What I am trying to say is that our IT people said that no matter if I use the "Exchange" or "IMAP" account type, the Mac talks to the server using "IMAP".
What this ment to us is IT needed to make sure that "IMAP" was enabled on the server.
If you are using Microsoft Entourage version 11 (from Office 2004). This does not use IMAP. So this would still work on your Mac even if IMAP wasn't enabled on the server. However Microsft Entourage version 10 did use IMAP.

  • Apple Mail and MS Exchange server?

In a strange twist of fate, our new university President is a Mac guy (yeah!), but he is obligating all of us to put email and calendar software into MS Exchange server. Sadly, it means I will need to migrate 4 GB of emails from Apple mail to Entourage.
Does anyone know of a solution that will allow me to continue using Apple Mail?
I also favor NOW Up to Date & Contact for calendar and contacts. Any ideas on connectivity between Exchange server?
    Thanks.

Rats! I just heard from our IT department. The reason Apple Mail is not supported is that it requires IMAP to be turned on. They claim that "IMAP passes passwords and mail in clear text which is a big security problem. Exchange natively sends all of its info in an encrypted manner. "
Is there a way to get Apple Mail to use Exchange Server without IMAP in a way that will get these security freakish IT folks to be happy?

  • I have a BlackBerry and Microsoft Exchange Server.  How will I sync with my new iPad?

I have a BlackBerry that is supported by a Microsoft Exchange Server so I can sync my BlackBerry and my laptop which is a PC.  How do I sync my Outlook info with my new iPad2 so all of my devices are connected?  Thank you.

The setup , as was mentioned, is basically the same as a Wimndows Mobile device.  You need mail server name, your domain login and credentials  You will also need to check you wi-fi connection and be sure you can get rhough whatever enterprise proxy servers you might have. If you have 3g I would use that and not mess around with a proxied network, if that is an issue for you.
One additional caveat....adding another mobile device significantly increases the complexity of your mail delivery system.  There are articles on the Microsoft kbase that talk about Outlook calendaring best practices.  Watch for calendar consistency issues.  You might consider running Outlook in online rather than cached mode, or at the minimum deleting and rebuilding your cache file.

    Paul,
I hope you are right, but I fear you are not.
I was told by my att guy that if I wanted to access my Exchange Server that I would have to pay the extra $15/mo. When I questioned him, he told that the only difference between the standard and the Enterprise accounts was the Exchange Server option.
Again, it would be really nice if that turns out not to be the case, because I will probably just stick with the standard service rather than pay the additional $15 just for Push.
I'm sorry to say this, but he is wrong.
All of our hand held users at out office have phones that are paid for on their own account. We do not utilize business accounts. They are able to get ActiveSync just fine.
Even from AT&T's own main page on individual accounts [here|http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/legal/plan-terms.jsp] they do not make any statement that you must have a business account to access exchange. AT&T does not make this requirement for any of their Windows Mobile phones with ActiveSync. None. Why would this be different with the iPhone?
I am sorry to tell you that if enterprise mail was not included on individual accounts, than why do their terms or usage talk about it. If corporate access to email was prerequisite by a business account, than why do their personal account pages mention corporate email access. Their Business page only applies to partnerships that AT&T has with various business. For proof I went to their page and entered in my email address. Sure enough, I [failed|http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/auth_fail.jsp]. This was why:
Your company or school web site address was not found in our records. Check with your Telecom or Benefits Administrator to see if your company or school is a current AT&T business customer.
We don't have a partnership with AT&T. I know this already. Yet at the same time I know several people in out organization that use ActiveSync and have AT&T personal account - I know that for a fact since I spoke with them about it. They have no restrictions. By your assertion, since we are not a business customer, several employees should not be accessing Exchange. They are.

  • Ical and microsoft exchange server

I'm switching my office from Pc's to macs. I'm keeping my microsoft exchange server. I have the mac addresses and mail syncing with the exchange server. We can figure out how to sync Ical with the exchange server. I was told that Groupcal would work - but the makers seem to have disappeared. You can buy the software, but I'm not sure they are around to support it. any help would be appreciated.

I have been experiencing this issue for a couple of months, and today I found the solution here:
    http://www.n8henrie.com/2012/12/google-calendar-delegates-and-mountain-lion-cale ndar/
Basically, Google Calendar will revert to the original behaviour by unchecking the third-party calendars from the list in this "iPhone Sync Settings" page from Google.

  • CRM 5.0 and microsoft exchange server integration

    Hi,
I'm facing problem in setting up email integration in SAP CRM.
What I woul like to achieve is that an email sent to the call center should be see the email in this way:
    from: customer email
    to: [email protected]
The exchange server responsible says that it is not possible to do this but exchange has to change the "to" domain before sending the email and so the call center agent should see in the inbox an email like this:
    from: customer email
    to: [email protected]
    Is it right? Any hint?
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Roberto

    Hello Roberto,
E-Mail rerouting is possible with an Exchange server. We use an adress [email protected] provided from the Exchangeserver. The mail is then forwarded to [email protected] to be retrieved by our CRM System for further processing. Please ask your Exchange admin again. I think he has to get wome more information about configuration possibilities.

  • IPhone and Microsoft Exchange Server , 'Send As' Function

    Hi there
Well as described in the topic. Is it possible to send emails from the iPhone, using another smtp server?
    Why I need this?
Well, some people in our company have 2 separate Mail Accounts.
One for everything and one for the iPhone. They can then create rules by themself for which emails they want to be forwarded to their iPhone.
The problem is, when they answer using the iPhone, they would like their regular email address to appear, so that all mails still arrive at the regular mail account.
    Can anyone help me?
I hope I've expressed myself clear
Thanks for your help in advance

    Try this:
    1. On your Exchange server that runs your active sync or outlook web access, open IIS
    2. Right click on the website that contains exchange components and choose properties.
    3. Select the "Directory Security" tab
    4. Under "Secure Communications", click the "Edit" button
    5. Under "Client Certificates", select "Ignore Client Certificates"
    6. *IMPORTANT STEP: When you click ok and ok again, it may ask you whether you want to change other subfolders within the main container with the modifications you have just made, dont select any of these subfolders, just click OK. It is only the main properties you need to change. Those that need to inherit, should already inherit properly. If you select other subfolders to change with the modifications you have just made, it will likely ruin your active directory setup as some subfolders need different security settings to others.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server Problem

I successfully added our Company email on my I-Pad using the Microsoft Exchange function. My boss has the 3G WI-FI I-Pad and I absolutely cannot get it to work for him. I'm doing exactly the same thing I did for mine, but without success. Could there be a problem with the 3G Wi-Fi model or does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried everything I can find but it keeps giving me the "unable to verify account" message. Any ideas anyone?

For what little it's worth, I have a 3G iPad and had no problems connecting it to our Exchange server, so it's not a blanket problem with the 3G model. I did the setup over a WiFi connection, though, not 3G; if you're attempting to do the setup via a 3G connection, you might try it over WiFi instead.
Also, if your boss's iPad isn't on the latest (3.2.2) version of the iPad iOS, update and then try the setup again. Exchange fixes were part of the last couple of updates, if memory serves.
    Regards.

  • Mail sync with exchange server problem

I started using Apple last year but have a problem with syncing to my exchange server. My iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air all sync fine but Mail on my iMac will only sync up to 20/08/2013.
The MacBook Air runs 10.9.1 and Mail v7.1 and syncs my exchange and IMAP mail perfectly.
The iMac runs 10.9.1 and Mail v7.1 and syncs my IMAP mail accounts fine but will not sync beyond 20/08/2013.  I have tried deleting the account but keep getting messages that this will delete the account from my Macbook as they are linked via icloud.  I can disable the account on the iMac but cant see how to delete it then.
There are posts about deleting mail caches but I dont know which files these are.
    Can you help please?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Make sure that you have enabled auto sync under settings > auto sync and under email > menu button > settings > your account > synchronize email.
If the settings is correct, you could try with another email client from Google Play to see if you experience any difference behavior.

  • Iphone and Microsoft Exchange server 2007.

We as a corporate company have many iphone users, and the iphone users are configured with our corporate microsoft exchange 2007 server.  So the users use their iphones to check their corporate emails which is on microsoft exchange 2007.   So they have setup a connection on their iphones to the company exchange server.
The issue we have is that the iphone users have issues with sending out email via the exchange email accounts on their iphones, when they send large emails, or emails with a long chains, When they send these emails the emails gets stuck in the outbox, and does not send out.  The users then have to delete the content in the email, or make the email less in size and then it sends OK.
We have checked our exchange server and the settings seem ok, and we have contacted microsoft, and they have done some tests with a windows mobile emulator which acts like a mobile device, and there are no issues with sending email their.  So they have asked me to contact Apple about any issues.
So has anyone come across this issue.  Any suggestions.

    1. On your Exchange server that runs your active sync or outlook web access, open IIS
    2. Right click on the website that contains exchange components and choose properties.

  • Using Mail and Windows Exchange Server 2003

HI I have just set up a server using windows server 2003 and I also installed exchange 2003 on it as well. I have a domain which forwards to my server so I can set up my own mail addresses on exchange which connects to outlook. My windows pc is connected to the domain and the email works fine, no probs. I would like my mac book (tiger) to connect to the exchange server as well for my wife to get emails using an email address I have set up for her. Myself and my wife are new to macs so its slow going at the moment but I am persistant. When setting up the mail using the exchange option it asks for the incoming and outgoing mail server which confuses me as exchange doesnt use these as far as I am aware. can anyone offer any hep at all as I would really like this sorting.
    thanks for any help offered

    Hi
Without any further details regarding how you have set up your exchange mail server as well as your private network its going to be difficult to help you. In any rate you are the one who has configured the exchange/windows server so I would imagine all of the information regarding the mail server you should know?
For example if you have enabled webmail on the exchange server then you should know that. If you have not enabled it then there is nothing you need put in the relevant field.
How well internal DNS queries resolve for your server name to its IP address will depend on how well you have configured internal DNS Services. Only you would know why you can use the IP address and not the name, or the name and not the IP address. Perhaps you should review this. Typically you would match the external MX Record with an internal one, that way DNS names can resolve internally as well as externally to their relevant IP addresses. This all depends on how you have configured Exchange mail server. For example you could be using the POP connector feature. Again this is something you should know as you are the one who has configured it.
also when going through the mail setup it wont connect to the
incoming mail sever using the dns info but it will to the outgoing
mail server using the same info.
This could mean that internal DNS Services are not set up and that outbound mail is actually using your ISP's mail server rather than your internal server.
I'm not sure where you are getting Port 993 from? The default ports for POP (inbound) and SMTP (outbound) are 110 for POP and 25 for SMTP. All that is required is a Port forwarding/firewall rule for those ports that point to the internal IP address of your mail server. Provided your domain's MX record is pointing to the fixed external IP address configured in your router at your location then mail should flow in and out. Again this all depends on how you have configured your domain and mail server to send and receive mail. Again only you would know that.
If you launch MS/DOS (PC) prompt or terminal (Mac) and telnet to the server's internal IP address for port 25 it should tell you if it is accepting mail. You can use the same thing for port 110. The command would look something like this:
    telnet 192.168.1.1 25
You should see something like this:
    Trying 192.168.1.1...
    Connected to whateveryouhavecalledit.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    220 yourdomain ESMTP
If you configure Apple Mail for a POP account then it should work using the internal IP address of your mail server for both inbound and outbound mail, as long as the account configured on your mail serverr is configured for a POP mail account.
Most Mail Server's today will offer a mail service using IMAP accounts (this is in addition to the other methods offered) which can be accessed simply using a web browser. In my view this is preferable to POP accounts as (a) you don't need a separate mail application (b) no mail is ever stored locally, its all kept on the server (c) you don't even need your own pc/mac to access your mail. As long as you know 3 bits of information you can send/receive mail anywhere in the world just as long as you have access to any computer that has access to the internet.
    Hope this helps, Tony

  • Q10 and Microsoft Exchange Server

    Please help!
I got the Q10 back in May. The IT at my work is not going to upgrade the server to support the BES10 and has no plans on doing so in the near future. All I am told is they will not support the Q10 or Z10 models. So I had to reactivate my bold 9900 after a few days and the Q10 is gathering dust on a shelf.
However, we do have external access to our email account through microsoft exchange and I know my colleagues with iphones have an application that allows them to sychronize with their work accounts via the exchange. Does the Q10 have anything similar or is anything in development? If not, I may have to sell the Q10 and move on as my 9900 is kaput.
Many thanks in advance for any help!!

Hi jlkb78 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
If Microsoft ActiveSync is available on the Exchange server, you can add your email to your BlackBerry Q10!  From Settings>Accounts, click on Add Account then click on the Advanced button at the bottom of the screen then choose ActiveSync.  Enter the information to add the email account!
Let me know if that helps.
    Thanks.
