Mail and road runner account: Help!

I hate to write this, since I have been through all the threads and nothing has worked. My G4 is in the shop and I am trying to configure mail to work on my G5. I have all the settings correct, but I cant send mail. I have tried changing the port numbers and adding the user name on the back of the SMPT protocol. A lot of the threads talk about att and Iphone, but I don't have an i phone.
TWC doesn't have a clue and I spent a 1/2 hour with an apple specialist online and they couldn't help, but apple hooked it up fine on my G4 two years ago. I tried to copy everything over verbatim, when creating a pop account on my G5 Imail, but it didn't work
Anyway, here are on protocols.
POP incoming
mail-server.carolina.rr.com
username
password
outgoing
smtp-server.carolina.rr.com
username
password
Do I have to adjust a port number or add a port number on the end of the smtp. I can't get anything to work or get any help. Again sorry to ask a redundant question, but all the threads involve Iphone.
Thanks,

TWC has that issue per your last line. One thing I did was copy everything from my G4 in case apple lost my data. I have everything from my mail folder. Can I do an import like bookmarks? I will try your recipe and see what happens.
This has been so long, but apple had to put a : colon on the end of smtp-server.carolina.rr.com and I want to say it was my username, but other threads have said to put a server port 587 on the back of the outgoing. It is really confusing that apple didn't know how to do this when I called support yesterday.
Now I am hooked up to the airport express via a apple wireless card, but that shouldn't make a difference

  • IPHONE 3G and Road Runner accounts

    Hello all,
Finally got my IPHONE 3G and everything is wonderful except for the Roadrunner email setup..
Like the last IPHONE I followed all of the instructions but still no happy. Noticed that in the basic setup it adds the CWMX.COM to the outgoing SMTP configuration but that’s not the real issue at this point. The problem is that IPHONE acts like its pulling or fetching the mail but nothing shows up. I have tried several combinations but I do not take an error it just does not get the mail.
Any ideas would be great.. Thanks

I spent a lot of time trying different combinations of settings, and finally found something that works. Try this:
    1. Create new outgoing mail server for the rr email account: smtp-server.hawaii.rr.com (substute your location for hawaii)
    2. Within the settings for smtp-server.hawaii.rr.com:
    a. turn off the SSL
    b. username needs to have the @hawaii.rr.com (the outgoing smtp it needs to have the "@hawaii.rr.com", but not on the incoming POP area. I don't know why, but I tried it and it works!)
    c. enter password
Please let me know if this worked for you. Good luck!
My experience has been that you can only send via smtp-server.blah.rr.com if you are connected into the RoadRunner network (e.g., at home connected via your own wi-fi). Sending on EDGE or 3G is not likely to work unless you use CWMX.com or AuthSTMP, some smtp which is not part of the RoadRunner network.
Not unique with the iPhone. True for laptops when traveling, too.

This started about 3 days ago.  I could manually push email through in the last few days but can no longer.  I have deleted the account and re-entered the settings but I get a message that I cannot connect to the server.

  • Why can't I create Road Runner account?

Set up the trial .mac mail account okay.
Have a hawaii.rr email on old PC and trying to set up on laptop.
Sometimes the pop-server creates but the smtp-server doesn't and sometimes neither one creates.
Called RR twice...they keep saying it's a Apple problem.

My Road Runner account ran into the same problem until my friend cloeb fixed it for me. The two techs I had talked to previously at RR told me to contact Apple, as it was their issue.
Maybe something in the above-mentioned thread will work for you.
    Good luck!

  • Iphone and road runner email

Has anyone had any luck placing road runner (time warner email) on their iphone. Both Apple and Road Runner tried but to no avail. Weird thing, I have had 3 previous iphones and have had rr on there every time.

I have three roadrunner mailboxes. One has transferred ok from my iphone 3G through iTunes. The other two reject their passwords. I do not understand what's going on. I have tried deleting the other two from iPhone and adding them directly on iPhone 4 but they still reject their passwords. Any help would be very appreciated.

Note that you lose privacy when using Gmail (and Yahoo):
Gmail and Yahoo both scan users' emails. They do algorithmic analysis of your email messages, targeting ads that relate to the content of your messages. Defenders point out that "they", are not people, but machines. And they argue that it is a harmless way of making advertising relevant to users and raising revenues.
Others might say that whether a machine or a human is doing the work, the potential for a privacy breach is there.

Try Mail->Window->Connection Doctor.  If there is a problem reported, try:
Open Mail->Preferences and check your settings.
If you still have a problem, Copy your settings (screen capture ⇧⌘4), delete account, and re-setup account

  • IPhone4 - Outgoing Mail - Road Runner Account

Outgoing Road Runner mail on my iPhone 4 is unbelievably slow (2-3 minutes or more to send an outgoing message, even when I'm on wifi with a full signal). I have changed the outgoing server settings from the Road Runner server to the AT&T servers (first choice is cwmx.com and also have ATT&T STMP server on - all others are off). Anyone have any idea why this is happening and any suggestions on how to fix it ?

  • Cannot get mac to send/receive mail through Road Runner

Just got my first Mac today and was setting up my e-mail account and I cannot get it to connect to the road runner e-mail servers. I made sure the pop and smtp servers are correct but I still cannot get it to work. I am using the mac wirelessly but have no problem connecting to the internet. I am using a Linksys WRT54GL router. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was really looking forward to playing with my new computer but I need to get this fixed 1st.

I am using a Macbook Pro from 2006 (1.83GHZ, 2GB memory) and Version 10.6.7. This weekend I downloaded and installed the security update. ( I waited until yesterday to do Safari and the other one suggested.) It screwed up my mail  program, so when I opened it, it welcomed me to my new or updated mail program. Checking under library, I found my old data was still present. I had to follow directions to re-establish my account, and then it  "Imported" my data into the account. The new one has get mail in a different location on the menu bar.
However, it continues to ask me for my password to access Keychain. The only work around that was to have Mail download mail every five minutes. Otherwise I have to sign in again. I attempted to work with Keychain, I put the password into Mail's preference file, but that didn't help.
What is worse I discovered a problem with Keychain Access. It claimed the login was unavailable, and I could not directly access it in Keychain. Keychain, however, provides something called Keychain First Aid, which was able to restore the Login.
Now my work around with Mail works. BUT I HAVE LOST MOST OF MY PASSWORDS IN KEYCHAIN. Or they may be hidden. When I couldn't open a critical diskimage, I could not find it in Keychain to manually use it. Now critical files are unavailable. I will add this as a new linke, but I suspect I may be screwed.

  • Thunderbird no longer recognizes my Road runner Account

I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Now Thunderbird no longer connects with my Bright House road runner email account. I removed the account from Thunderbird and tried to re-add it, but I get a message that my username and/or password is incorrect. I can get my email (with the very same username and password) using windows Mail, and also Road runner Webmail, so I know that the user info is correct. Thunderbird still recognizes my other email accounts (gmail and hotmail). The configuration problem only applies to Road Runner email.

    Confirmed workarounds:
    * While composing an email open the address book and select the list you are trying to send to, highlight all the names in the list and drag them to the To: box. This uses your existing data without modifying it.
    * Replacing the blanks " " between the words in such lists' descriptions with an underscore "_". This requires modifying your mailing list(s) description(s).

  • Iphone and road runner

can someone tell me step by step instructions how to connect my email from roadrunner to my iphone--I can do yahoo email but would love to connect to outlook express roadrunner email--thanks <<<
I, too use roadrunner and found this answer when I Googled for it yesterday. I have had limited success, but plan on contacting AT&T as they helped me configure my Cingular 8525 when the "typical" settings were of no use. Link:
    http://freeiphoner.com/how-to-setup-nycrrcom-email-in-iphone/
"How to setup my email in iphone? I'm using [email protected]
    Incoming server
    Pop-server.NYC.RR.com
    Outgoing server
    Cwmx.com
    No username
    No password
Unfortunately tWC is quite adimant about not allowing outgoing mail from off the Roadrunner network. So you cannot use the same settings as you would at home…
(for those following, that would be SMTP.NYC.RR.com)
Also unfortunately, ATT will not allow anyone to use the CWMX.com server off the EDGE network.
What does this mean? You should use the cwmx.com server as much as possible, but it means that if you are off the edge network (on wifi) at that exact moment, your mail will not go out. Once you get off wifi (manually, or leave the range of the hotspot) your mail will send out.
Another way to do this would be to forward your email to Google.com. Google’s interface is free, connects just fine, and will hold EVERY email there until you delete it. So you could forward your email to the gmail server, checking the setting to leave copy of mail in your roadrunner account. This will send a copy of the mail to Google while leaving a copy at home.
Set up your iphone to it the gmail server (it has preset settings in the mail setup)."

  • Mail and MS Exchange Server - help!

Can anyone tell me the simple way to go from Entourage to Mail 3.0? I work within an MS Exchange environment and I really want to use Mail now (the new version is exactly what I need) but my IT dept tell me integrating Mail and Exchange is impossible... Can that be true?
Does anyone have step by step instructions/stages I can take to them to get this sorted?
    Thanks, Francis

I can assure you that integration between Mail and Exchange is possible, at least in some scenarios. I am the primary Exchange system administrator for a medium-sized university that uses Exchange 2003 with an OWA (Outlook Web Access) front-end server.
I currently have Mail and Entourage 2004 running side by side on my just upgraded Mac. I used the mail account configuration wizard with ease. Go to the the Mail Preferences and click on Accounts. You can use the '+' button to add an account. Supply your full name and email address to the wizard and click continue. In the Account Type selection, choose Exchange. Type a friendly description such as "Exchange - Your Name". To get things to work correctly, you may need to know on what backend server your mailbox resides. You will also need to know what your OWA server is named on the network. You will also need to know what server is your outgoing mail server. This will likely be the same as your OWA or backend server. You should be able to retrieve those items from your Entourage settings. In my configuration, I was able to put the name of my OWA server (ex. owa.company.com) in both the Incoming Mail Server and Outlook Web Access Server fields as well as the outgoing mail server.
I am not sure how the configuration will vary with Exchange 2007 or in an environment without an OWA server. There are also issues with Address Book Integration of the Global Address List in Leopard in situations where there are multiple domains in a single forest. In that regard, contacts won't automatically resolve as they do in Entourage in many cases.

  • Mail and Multiple User Accounts and Email Accounts

Hi there I want to be able to have two seperate pop email accounts, one for each of the two user accounts on my Mac mini but what is actually happening is that the primary mail account opens up within both user accounts and if you email the secondary account it arrives at the inbox for the primary one. The two pop accounts have the same ISP (NTL) and incoming mail server but different user names. I'd be very grateful for any suggested solutions!
    Thanks
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

When you check Mail preferences and select accounts, you should show only one account for each user. If two accounts show for both, the upper account is considered the primary, but all mail from all listed accounts will be available.
If you show two accounts, delete the account not belonging to the logged in person.
