Mail and To Do Setup for IMAP Account
Hello,
I am attempting to setup the TO DO function in Mail.app and am not having too much luck.
Currently I have only one IMAP account functioning in Mail and am attempting to get TO DO functionality going. At the moment I have the following setting:
Create Notes and ToDos : "On my mac"
My problem is that when i create a new todo or note relating to an email... I am not given any options as to which calendar to assign it to. I only get one option "calendar" (color:purple) in the drop down menu... which i think is being supplied by my IMAP email...
I would like to be able to see all my ical calendars and colors in order to better assign the To Dos to their respective categories..
Is there any way to add this functionality?

once you create one to do in mail.app on "on my mac" then go to ical and create other calendars you would like to set your to dos in, to dos that you create in mail.
you will notice that to dos created in mail are stored in different ical calendars than the to dos created in ical directly. the to dos created in ical directly are under icals under the "calendar" header in ical. to dos created in mail are in calendars under the header "on my mac" if created "on my mac" in mail or under the email account header in ical if created under an imap email account for example.

IPhone mail inbox grey for IMAP account
I am having trouble with the main inbox folder on IMAP email accounts being greyed out on the iPhone. Greyed out meaning I cannot select the inbox and look at my mail. Only the inbox is grey, subfolders are black and I can read mail in them.

Thank you in advance.Guys... not sure if this helps but it's worth mentioning. I'm beta testing a system at work for an upcoming change of email servers in the next 8 months or so. I have been using my 3G up until yesterday with no problems and then suddenly my inbox started being greyed out. Every once in a while when going back to the home screen then choosing mail again I might get placed into the inbox where new messages could be read or deleted. Going back out of the inbox would result in a greyed out choice. I did try removing/adding/etc the settings and even creating new profiles. All were the same. I upgraded to 2.1 this morning and same issue.
Now the only thing I did differently prior to having problems is that I accidentally created subfolders in my INBOX. I'm running UWIMAP 2007B on the backend and Perdition as the front end proxy server with a self signed SSL certificate. The mailbox format being used is MIX therefore subfolders are supported. I did remove all traces of the subfolders and the problem continued so I'm not 100% sure that was the cause, however, it is strange that I have had this mailbox configured since July 17th and no so much as a hiccup until the subfolders were created. Thunderbird or mail.app had no problems during any of this accessing my inbox and folders. It was only the iphone giving me grief. Anyway, removing the folders had no good outcome so I started searching the web. Coming across multiple posts that say use INBOX as the imap prefix folder, I decided to try that. That worked great but since my other folders were in ~/mail that caused those folders to not appear. The easy solution is to move move those out of ~/mail and under INBOX. If you are using dovecot or another server that supports subfolders this should work as the INBOX is simply a directory with dotfiles that contain the data. All of my folders are now under the INBOX and the iphone appears to be happy. My inbox is accessible and I have all of my other folders at my fingertips.
I hope this will help at least one of you out there. It's been very annoying but glad it was figured out.

How Can I Turn OFF Junk Mail Filter for IMAP Accounts Only?
I am trying to figure out how to turn off the Junk Mail filtering for IMAP accounts such as .Mac/.ME and GMAIL. All filtering is working fine on the server side, and reviewing the mail that is tagged is easy enough by just going to the account and displaying the folders created on the server.
I've checked the Junk mail pref and although the Advance settings let you isolate specific accounts to check, it does not give you the option bypass checking an account.
i.e.
if <Any> of the following conditions are met:
<Account> <is not> <Gmail (IMAP)>
As is, the mail rules are working perfectly on the server side, but in Apple Mail, many mails are being sent the Apple Mail's Junk folder.
When going through the Gmail's instructions on setting up a Gmail account for Apple Mail, it specifically says to turn off Junk mail filtering for the account, but I can't find any options to do that.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIAI haven't tried this, but it should work:
Make a new rule,
If <Any> <Account> is <Gmail> or <Account> is <.me> then "Stop evaluating rules".
Move this rule to the last in the list of rules.
In the Junk Mail preferences, be sure that "Filter junk mail before applying my rules" is unchecked. -
Help me ditch Outlook! Apple Mail doesn't display messages for all accounts. Thoughts?
I have two IMAP accounts, both GMail. One account always shows messages (Gmail in the screenshot below) but the other usually does not. I've deleted the account, rebuilt it etc and nothing works. When I do get messages to display, as soon as I change folders then go back the messages have disappeared again.
Both accounts are set up the same way. One the account that is not working (Ruddell Consulting in the screen shot), I see the total unread message count under the Mailboxes window but the sort column and preview windows are blank. When viewing the common inbox I only see mail from one account.
I'm trying to get rid of Outlook 2011 but with the same account settings in Outlook 2011 both accounts work as expected so I'm stuck with it until I can get this resolved.

JimI found the problem. Or at least a workaround. I use Google Mail and some folders in my Gmail account were causing problems for Apple Mail. I removed the folders and Mail works as it should.

My mail application was working fine, I shut down and when I restarted it is asking me to set it up again. I dont want to loose any information on my mail and I had a lot of accounts on it. . what can I do?
I found all my files from my old account in the users folder but when I logged out there was no option to sign in on the old account, I'm guessing ill just have to start from scratch, which is fine as long as my old files aren't lost :) thanks for the help.
I'll explore more once I get my screen fixed and there might be a way to recover my old account :) -

Use
In the Philippines, companies are required to submit Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) forms 2550M for the monthly (value-added tax) report and 2550Q for the quarterly VAT report. However, these forms also include information not provided by the SAP System, such as advance payments. Using the Advance Return for Tax on Sales and Purchases report, you can print the relevant VAT data and enter it in forms 2550M and 2550Q.
Integration
The report is based on the SAP List Viewer (ALV), which enables you to define your own display variants, according to the BIR requirements listed below.
Activities
To access the report, from the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Accounting --> Financial Accounting --> General Ledger --> Reporting --> Tax Reports --> General --> Advance Return for Tax on Sales/Purchases --> Advance Return for Tax on Sales/Purchases.
You need to make the following settings, in addition to your specific selection criteria:

BIR 1601
SAP provides withholding tax data for page 3 of the form. The form comprises three sections u2013 expanded withholding tax, final tax based on the regular rate, and final tax based on treaty rates. The Generic Withholding Tax Report has several options for reporting.
The report can be run without the Output Group field populated, or it can be run with one of the PH1 to PH5 options as it relates to the reporting forms/requirements

IMAP setup for .Mac account and Gmail
I've been trying to use my .Mac account and Gmail with mixed results. I have been using Mac mail for some time and have my folder structure setup for personal and work. Now I want to add a work Gmail account and simply have a separate inbox for the Gmail account. I store messages from both accounts into the folders I have in the .Mac account.
Gmail caused all sort of issues using IMAP in this structure, basically creating another series of folders below the .Mac folder tree. The inbox structure was fine and I could stored Gmail messages into the .Mac folders. But there were duplicate copies of the messages in the Gmail IMAP structure. I wasn't sure if I should just delete the Gmail structure, but the duplicates were driving me crazy whenever I did a message search.
Now I've backed Gmail down to POP and I have all sort of sync problems between my laptop and desktop systems. On my laptop it shows no mail, but when I check Gmail. There is mail in my inbox.
Does anyone have an idea about how to use two IMAP accounts successfully in Apple Mail?Okay. This has got to be a common issue. And I think I have it solved.
The secret is using an IMAP prefix of "IMAP" and then creatin labels of "IMAP/Foldername" on Gmail.

Is Mail good for imap accounts?
I don't know if it is my setup or what but I am experiencing a few deal breaker problems:
1. Mail seems brutally slow AND it seems to send my machine into a state of "powerwork" whilst performing basic tasks like selecting different folders.
2. I have an imap account and a .mac account. Selecting back and forth between the 2 inboxes, mail seems to need to sit and think (almost as if to reload the whole folder) just to bring back the mail contents and make the list visible.
I have been using entourage which works great. I wanted to De-microsoft my mac as I thought I'd get an intercompatibility boost by switching to Mail but it looks like I may be wrong? Should I abandon the idea and go back to entourage?

You have something wrong because you shouldn't experience that.
Selecting back and forth between the 2 inboxes, mail seems to need to sit and think (almost as if to reload the whole folder) just to bring back the mail contents and make the list visible.
I typically just view the top level inbox so that it includes the contents of the inboxes of all my accounts.
If you use the '.Mac type' when defining your .Mac account in Mail, it is also an IMAP account.
Using an IMAP account means that the e-mail client must establish contact with the remote IMAP server before the inbox is shown. The inbox on the e-mail client is essentially a window into what is stored on the IMAP server's inbox. -

Present mail setup for 2 accounts - want to separate everything
Presently have 2 accounts in mail that is accessed by 1 icon on the dock. What I need is 2 separate mail programs on the dock that opens only 1 of the 2 accounts. In other words, 1 program per account. How do I do it?
When either of the 2 users logged in, they'd only be using one program/email client, in this case Mail, to access their emails. I thought that I could follow the same idea without setting up 2 users, or alternatively, as you are saying, 2 clients
The reason why this doesn't work is that when Mail.app (or any app, for that matter) starts up it looks for a specific configuration file to use. In Mail.app's case it looks for the file com.apple.mail.plist in the current user's preferences directory.
So if you could launch two copies of Mail.app at the same time they would both look at the exact same configuration file and have the same set of accounts, etc.
The reason why a different user gets different settings is that they have a different preferences directory from you - your preference folder might be /Users/kaal/Library/Preferences/ while some other user might be /Users/someoneelse/Library/Preferences/
There's no way to tell Mail.app to use someone else's preferences directory while you are logged in (that would violate the system security, for one thing). -
My son's MacBook pro needed a new hard drive. He is out of state for a month.
I want to test it to make sure it has been fixed, but I cannot get past the start screens which require
an owner name, an account name and passwords. It states the account name cannot be changed once
entered. I dont want to enter info that might not be his preferences.
Can I bypass this screen? There is no "skip"nor "continue" button.

You do need to set up an account. I never enter my address, etc, but usually (when I want to sell a machine with a new install) set up a temporary account "user" with a password of 12345 with as little info as possible (it also helps if it's not connected to the internet at that point because it won't be able to contact Apple's servers. That way you can run it and he can establish another account when is is back.
