Mail and windows live ID

I have been forced to use Windows Live by my university, alas. The help states that Windows Live can be read by Mail, but after following all instructions, there is no connection. I keep getting the signal that the password is not accepted. The password however is the correct one. I checked the normal things like SSL and stuff and that all is according to the instructions received from Windows Live. Does anyone have suggestions?

I'm sure you have already sorted this out now as you posted this ages ago, however, for anyone else interested... I believe the problem is that to use Live Mail inside of the Apple Mail app, you have to be a paid member of Live Mail. If you only have a free account with Live then you will not be able to use the POP3 services required for the Apple Mail...

  • Firefox unstable with Hot Mail and Windows Live Forum pages

In URL (1) below, which is the Windows Live Help Forum, the page loads initially but does not complete loading. The tab heading (above the URL), keeps flickering and the page does not finish loading. Impossible to do any editing or making entries because even scrolling is not possible. The scroll bar cannot be controlled. Either, it cannot be moved or when moved it jumps back to where it was.
In URL (2) below, which is my Hot Mail Inbox, the problem is similar but on a lesser scale. The tab heading (above the URL), is flickering very often which is distracting when typing an email etc. but the page is reasonably stable although it looks like the page is never completely loaded. There are times that the the page stabilizes after a while.
Other internet web pages does not cause any problems.

    Nice link and suggestion Smirnoff.
I assume that toolbar sits in the BTYahoo browser, (don't use it here) which is being phased out I think, so it's unlikely BT tech guys will do anything.
Even if the toolbar is uninstalled the registry remains the same and auto log in to WLM does not work  so "Make Messenger Remember Me" could be a useful tool for those still irritated by this who turn to another browser.

  • Intranet email with apple mail and windows live mail on LAN

i have a home wifi network and have two computers using it. one is my macbook and other is my toshiba vista laptop. now my bro and i often exchange emails. he uses windows live mail and i use apple mail. since we are on a slow internet connection with limited data usage per month i was wondering if we could email each other directly over our wifi LAN network without having to use our ISP. i know that we wont be able to use our gmail, yahoo or hotmail or other such internet based IDs but maybe we can make a LAN based ID and exchange emails.
    any suggestions?

There's no practical, simple way to do that as far as I know. Apple Mail, like virtually every other mail program is only able to communicate with a mail server, not with another such program.
You would either need to set up a mail server on your LAN (not a trivial task) or you'd have to find a "peer-to-peer" email program and I'm not aware of any such application. Furthermore, in your situation, it would have to be cross-platform (Windows and Mac).
In more technical terms, the email programs we all use are "Mail User Agents" (MUA). An MUA has to communicate with a "Mail Transfer Agent" (MTA), i.e. the email server. An MUA has NO way to communicate directly with another MUA.

  • BTYahoo and Windows Live Mail

    Hi,
I use BTYahoo online mail, and Windows Live Mail desktop client. I want to be able to sync my Windows Live Mail address book with BTYahoo mail. Is this possible?
    Thanks
    Dave.

Well I suppose the good news is that I am not the only person with this problem but it has made me think of a possible resolution.
Trying to follow this logically, I am not getting any problems with my android devices which connect wirelessly so I am not sure that it can be slow broadband connection or intermittent line problems bearing in mind that my PC is connected to the router by ethernet cable which should be better than wifi. It would therefore seem to be the way that Windows Live Mail is connecting, and on checking I see that the server settings are different. I have matched my PC to the Android settings and I will report back the results.
I can quite see if the server keeps dropping the connection for some reason or different servers settings are being used to access the emails then this might trigger the request for a new password.

  • Is PS Elements 12.0 compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail??

Is the Organize/eMail part of Elements 12.0 compatible with my Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail?  I have never been able to make it work with my Elements 9.0 after many hours of trying.  The problem is acknowledged by Adobe and a solution offered but the solution does not work in any of my three Windows 7 computers.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Brian, Thank you for responding.  I actually have two different questions on the same topic so I'll discuss them one at a time.
    1.  When I purchased a new Windows 7 computer several years ago I also purchased PSE 9.0 because I had been told my old PSE 4.0 would not work with W7.  I didn't get around to installing it until last fall--PSE 4.0 was working fine on the XP machine and I didn't have the time.  PSE 9.0 installed fine but I could not email a  photo from the Organizer.  I recently got interested in fixing the problem which has turned out to be more difficult than I could imagine.  I found a lot of evidence on the web that to make it work with W7/Windows Live Mail  you needed to make some patches in the registry.  I tried to follow the Adobe instruction a number of times but when I got down to: " 4. On your desktop, double-click SetDefaultEmailClient.reg. If prompted, click Continue. Click Yes on the Registry Editor confirmation prompt." it would not work.   Double clicking would bring up the browser with some register-like statements:  [Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message\shell] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message\shell\open] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message\shell\open\command] @="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Windows Live\\Mail\\wlmail.exe /mailurl:%1" ].  I did not get a "Continue" to click on or a "Yes on the Registry Editor confirmation prompt".   I got nothing to take action on that might cause the registry to be updated with the specified patches.  I'm no expert on modifying the registry and this is beyond my understanding.  It just didn't do what it implied it would and I'm lost.  I've tried in on my WLM 2011 computer and on my brand new W7 notebook computer with WLM 2012.  I tried it using my normal browser, Firefox, and using Internet Explorer.
PSE 9.0 does indeed show Windows Live Mail as an option under Edit/Preferences/Sharing and I have selected it.  When I try to share a photo via email all seems to go normally to the end when I get the message:  "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your E-mail message."  And, that is really not very helpful.  When I Google on that "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your E-mail message" I find that I'm far from being the only one with this problem and people with PSE 8.0, PSE 10.0 and PSE 11.0 have reported the problem.  I've found no way to communicate with Adobe and even their main support number, 800-883-6687, comes on with a message "this number is temporarily unavailable"!! I've called over 50 times over several days. That seems quite unusual.  It seems like selling a software product that is incompatible with one of the most popular Microsoft operating systems and email clients would not be a good thing.   Sorry for all the words but I wanted to define the situation as well as I can.
    2.  Given all of the time I've I spent without solving the problem it seemed tossing my PSE 9.0 and switching to PSE 12.0 might have been a smart move many months ago.  And, I'm considering it now.  That is why I really would like to get some assurance from Adobe that the problem is fixed and that I will have no problems with PSE 12.0, at least with emailing from the Organizer.  The news that it is working for you is encouraging and I hope others will report on the luck they have had.  You say it works better with WLM 2012 than with WLM 2011 but I don't know what that means.  It seems that the minimum requirement is that any time you want to send a photo via email, it works!
If anyone knows how you can contact Adobe, by phone or email, please let me know.
    Thank you very much, Brian.
    Jim

  • PSE9 and Windows Live Mail - Help

I am trying to send photos via "Share" email attachement and Windows Live Mail.  I get to the part where you are supposed to be sent to WLM, and then it comes up with the error message "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your e-mail message.  Alternately, you can use Adobe E-mail Service via the Elements organizer preference dialog."  WLM has been selected as the mail server in the preferences section of Elements, and also in Windows 7.
I don't want to send mail through Adobe E-mail Service, but I did try that.  I get to the same spot, and the entire program crashes.
    Furstrated!

Adobe have had problems with the Windows 7 email client ever since they issued a patch for PSE8.
Furthermore it will not work with 64 bit editions of Outlook, to the disappointment of many but you would think they would have sorted out Live Mail before launching PSE9. The product help screens are entirely misleading.
Both PSE8 and PSE9 are said to be Windows 7 compatible, but in reality they aren’t. Even after downloading the patch Adobe customers are still reporting problems.
If you are using a purchased copy of PSE9, rather than the trial I would suggest you raise a ticket with the support team and claim your entitlement to help with a solution.

  • TS3276 can't download mail from windows live account.  I have deleted and re-set up the account but still won't work.  I can go online and access with no problem or get mail from other apple devices.

Not able to get mail from windows live account.

Firefox can find plugins in several locations, but Firefox 21 changed the location of the "shared" plugin folder so older installers like the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin no longer drop the DLL file in the correct location.
There apparently are two ways to address this:
    (1) Change a Firefox preference so that Firefox checks the old location. Here's how:
    (i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''plugins''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins''' to switch its value from false to true.
This will take effect after you restart Firefox.
    (2) Copy the plugins folder to the new location. Here's how on Win 7 64-bit:
Open a Windows Explorer window to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Right-click and copy the '''Plugins''' folder
Double-click the '''browser''' folder to open it
    Right-click and paste
Right-click the new copy of '''Plugins''' and rename it to '''plugins'''
After restarting Firefox, the plugins in that folder should now be available.

  • Set up e mail to windows live mail

I have set up my e mail to Windows Live mail, when i send e mails it comes u with 'Server does not support ssl connection'. I have read a few other sites and says change the outgoing mail port from 25 to 465, i have done this and can now send, is this the corrct port numbers for BT. When i log in with live mail i then says 'The server you are connected to is using a security cetificate that could not be verified. The certificate's CN name does not match the passed value. Do you want to continue using this server?' I clock yes and my e mail gets sent. ANybody have any ideas?

If you have an Anti-Virus Application that scans incoming & outgoing emails you probably also need to check out that Application's setup instructions.

  • Photo Mail using windows live mail?

I have been using photoshop elements8 classroom in a book and have run into an area that I can't seem to accomplish.  I am trying to send a pic using photo mail and getting a message elements organizer could not finish creating my e-mail message.  I also tried using the alternate adobe e-mail service and get a responce that there is no e-mail program associated to perform the requested action.  I am using window's 7 and windows live mail.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanking you all in advance for your time and help.

I had the same problem with WLM and windows 7 and may have a solution for you. I have documented it in the discussion forum here http://forums.adobe.com/message/3284248

  • ICloud Mail on Windows Live Mail 2012

    Hi.
I have recently bought a new PC as my old one was showing its age (it was 6 years old). On my old PC (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit), I had no issues running iCloud Mail inside Windows Live Mail 2012 using IMAP in the few years
However, for some reason, I keep getting the following error on my new machine (Windows 7 Pro 64Bit):
Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
    Configuration:
       Account: iCloud (xxxx)
       Server: imap.mail.me.com
       Username: [email protected]
       Protocol: IMAP
       Port: 993
       Secure(SSL): 1
       Code: 800ccc0f
I copied the whole Windows Live Mail email folder onto the new PC, and all the settings for my iCloud were imported, and worked out of the box (apart from the above issue). All the port/server information seems to work as expected, along with the other settings.
Is there a way I can try and get to the bottom of this issue? The error suggests an issue with memory, and I am running Win 7 Pro on a Core i7 Quad Core Processor with 4GB of RAM, and Im nowhere near this on general browsing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Try running IE9 w/o Add ons.  Let me know if it works for you.

  • Can't Send or receive e-mails from Windows Live Ma...

    Hi,
I've been successfully getting mail though my BT Internet account and Windows Live Mail up until a few days ago when WLM just stopped working and I get the following error message.
"Unable to send or receive messages for the Btinternet xxxxxxxx account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Server: 'mail.btinternet.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No"
Checked all the settings and SMTP authentication and even tried deleting and setting up the account from scratch but still no joy.  Weird thing is that when I tried bt broadband desktop help to check e-mail connection it comes back saying everything is ok and I get a message from them in WLM inbox!!
    Confused?!

This is probably the intermittent, random problem that's been discussed at great length on the forum, eg here. It's improved considerably but is still affecting a few people occasionally. Hopefully it will go away of its own accord, but you may be able to clear it just by logging in to BT Yahoo! webmail.
