Mail app defaults to opening the last email I opened on the iPad
I have a new 32gb iPad. I'm new to the tablet arena, so forgive me if the question has been answered 1,000 times.
I configured my work email using the mail app - easy as pie (using Exchange server). However, when I open the mail app, what displays is the last email I opened on the iPad. it doesn't open up to my inbox with a list of email, or to my folder list - it literally opens up to the last email I opened on the machine.
Is this intended behaviour? If so, is it changable? I'd really like to see my inbox without having to hit the button to bring up my inbox.
To get a list of accounts or emails, turn the iPad to landscape orientation. List automatically appears when you do. Otherwise, it does open to the last message you were viewing when you closed it.

In anticipation of Google killing off the Google Notifier (for Mac & Windows) on Jan 31, 2014, I uninstalled it today and replaced it with another notifier app (Notifier for Gmail). Even though I used AppCleaner, the most touted uninstaller for Mac, one trace of Google Notifier remains and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I'm sure it's buried somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere. If anyone has an idea where to look, I appreciate your help. Following is a screenshot of what I'm trying to get rid of on the Mail.app default email reader list.
95% of the time they take the easy road and tell people to simply drag the app into the trash. With normal apps having anywhere from 3-7 attached files, if one tries a lot of software, over time that leaves a lot of extraneous folders and files on their machines. Some of them will send you complete instructions if you ask, though.
Still hopeful someone here might know a way to fix this in Terminal, similar to how we get rid of duplicate entrie for "Open with" on the right-click context menu for an app. If the question gets answered in the Google product support forum I'll be sure to add it here. -

First of all quit the mail app and all of the apps that have frozen. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the mail app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Close the other apps the same way. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
What I would try next is to delete the email on the server in your web mail account using Safari or another browser. Then when you go back to the mail app - if it opens ok - and the if mesaage is still there in the inbox - swipe on the mesaage - left to right - in the list on the left side - and hopefully the red delete button will pop up. Hit delete to remove it from the inbox. Do the same thing when you go to your trash folder in that email account - swipe the message to delete it. -

Try quitting the Mail app like I describe then reset your iPad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the app switcher. Flick up on the page preview of the app you want to quit. The page preview will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. The reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot. -
The mail app on my Mac laptop will not open. This began happening after an upgrade during which "Security UPdate 2012-004" was installed. My mail app has a new icon, and I think i trashed the old program (trying to follow directions). Suggest a fix?

How could I re-open my mail box, as an error message blocked "The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?" Even I entered re-open, the airbook does not response but prompt the same error message again.
Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal

Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

ThanksThis works but you have to get all the Envelope Index files that might be in there.
Make sure that you also delete Envelope Index-shm and Envelope Index-wal
and there could be some files named this with gibberish as suffixes too. -

Mail app is not showing new Hotmail emails
Hi everyone:
I'm not sure what to blame here -- Hotmail or this upcoming iOS7 release. Let me explain. Since long ago I set up several Hotmail email accounts on my iPad 2 in the built-in mail app. Everything used to work great but since recently the mail app doesn't seem to update automatically if I have new emails. Only when I open up the mail app and manually drag the list of emails down to fresh it, only then it loads them up -- something like a dozen at a time. This is a fairly recent thing. It'd be nice if it was loading them up as they come -- like it used to do.
Any idea what's going on there?
PS. I tried force-closing the mail app, as well as rebooting the iPad. It didn't help.
PS2. I have not installed or changed anything on that iPad for a long time -- only the updates that come out in the App Store.You dont happen to have any other accounts to see if it is just hotmail do you? Lets try turn off/on push, setting > mail, contacts, calendars and delete account and readd again, and lastly setting > general > reset > reset network setting (it will take off your wifi passwords/cellular info/vpns).

I can preview email when it arrives (I chose 5 lines) but when I then go to open up the full email, I see only the header info (To, Subject & Date); nothing in the body...it is blank. This only started recently as before, it worked as expected. Help?
I have two yahoo accounts and I know as they 'improved' their servers I had periodic outages. It'd work fine on my webmail on my computer, webmail on the iPad, but not via the mail app. And it was stuff on their end. It may be a case of wait and see and you may need to eventually remove/readd the account on your iPhone.
When the issue is on their end, unfortunately there's not much for users to do beyond wait it out or find work arounds. -

I have been working on the same numbers file for the past few weeks. The last time I opened it was 1 week ago. Today when I tried to open it I am unable and getting a message that the file is invalid and the index.xml file is missing.

I upgraded to Maverick OS X 10.9.5, numbers spreadsheet is saved. Upon re-opening, it appears to be frozen, a warning "file is invalid as index.xml file is missing". I checked, and the file is not "locked". This appears to occur only with using the new numbers app. When I open previous spreadsheets from old iWorks, no such problem occurs.
How did you resolve your problem?
Would appreciate any help here.

When I run my Mac application, I get a error message saying "The last time you opened Sample_App, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to reopen its windows again?".
This message is not localized, i.e. this error message always display in English even when my system language is set to non-English language.
I want to know if its a System throws error message? How can I localize this message?
