Mail app glitch? - deleted emails come back!?

Hi all,
I upgraded to Mavericks today, and it hasnt been smooth at all for me - no wonder it's FREE. One major problem that I'm having is with the Mail application.
I have the application connceted to my gmail account. - When I delete emails from my inbox (on my mail application), those deleted mails reppear in my inbox! No matter how many times i try deleting them, they always come back. But, when i go on gmail.com and delete it from there, then it deletes from the mail application inbox as well.
I hope i made some sense in explaining the problem.
Solutions? ideas?
Thanks!

Some people are having problems with Gmail. I haven't had a problem with it at all. Gmail isn't IMAP, which Mail expects it to be, since that is what Gmail says it is, but it's not. It is Gmail.
Gmail doesn't have folders or mailboxes. It tags messages with "labels." When a new message comes in, it is tagged with "inbox" and "All Mail." When you remove it from the Inbox, it gets tagged with the new mailbox it was moved into, and the "inbox" tag is removed. That process isn't quite working for some.
It is likely that something on one end is not doing what it used to do. If Google would just implement a normal IMAP server, there wouldn't be all off this tagging and untagging bs to deal with. My guess is the problem is on Google's end of this as it's server is announcing to the world that it is IMAP and it needs to translate the IMAP requests that it gets from the email clients.

  • Deleted Emails Come back into Inbox

I have a iPhone 3GS with POP3 email account. When i delete emails from the iPhone inbox, occassionally I'll receive the same emails as "new" emails into my inbox again...after they've been deleted. Sometimes i delete by sliding the message to show the delete button, sometimes i use the edit to delete multiple emails and sometimes i delete from within the message. i have the settings set to delete from server when deleted from inbox. any thoughts?

I have the same problem on MacBook Pro using os 10.5.8 with Mail 3.6.
I discovered that if I look at emails that have been sent to trash select them and press delete they all come back. When I do the proper erase deleted messages then they don't.
This might be useful on your iphone.
I now have emails coming back to me weeks, or months after I have deleted them, particularly ones with photos attached that I have sent through Kodak EasyShare, and copied to myself!! does anyone know what I can do about this? apart from being a waste of time, I might receive 100 photos in one day which slows everything down and effects my data usage.

  • MY deleted emails come back too! Please help

OK.. This is driving me nuts now. Not happened for a while but today - I have tried to delete the same 27 emails NINE times now and they KEEP FRIGGIN COMING BACK!!!! Grrr
Always been a huge huge fan of apple - til I got the iPhone! Only had it 3 months and would switch back to my blackberry in a heartbeat!
    WHat to do ?
I delete some - or all - or one - then the others - and they keep coming back. Restarted... not restarted... Driving me mad.
I get up to 100 emails each day - so to KEEP ON having them come back is driving me a bit nuts!

This happens to me constantly and I can't believe none of the Apple experts, either with Apple or not, have addressed this problem. I have spent so much wasted time just trying to clear out messages from the In Box. In one account it shows 46 messages even when the In Box is blank. I even tried deleting the account and bringing it back, but it did not help. Also, like the rest of you, I get constant shutdowns when deleting, then when I go back, there are those deleted messages again. This is driving me crazy! Help!!

  • Deleted emails come back!

I use Comcast as my email provider. Within the phone settings I have it set to "delete from server when removed from inbox". Not only does it NOT delete emails (i.e. spam) from the server, but sometimes when I go to check for new mail on the phone, it re-downloads those emails I previously deleted. Has this happened to anyone else?
    Thanks!
    Eddie

I have searched for this EXACT problem everywhere. Hubby and I

  • Mail app regurgitates deleted email back into Inbox

Earlier today Mail's dock icon indicated 3 new msges. Having Mail in Full screen mode I swipe to it and to my surprise old msges. from 2009!! were brought out of nowhere back into the Inbox. Having 4 accounts (2 POP, 2 IMAP (both Gmail)), the Inbox now had a total of 130 msges.
How is this possible for old emails which were trashed and deleted (permanent deletion set when Quitting Mail) long ago are revived? Where would this old email be stored?

I am having this issue as well. Here are the steps I have taken and it is still going on:
Deleted my ME account from all of my devices
    Deleted undesired emails from icloud
Emptied iCloud junk and trash folders
Checked all my iCloud email settings to make sure trash gets emptied etc.
About 5-15 minutes later there are about 11 emails that keep coming back. This is getting old and if not fixed in a few days will be closing all of my iCloud accounts for good.

  • HT2954 Need help on deleting emails from my email account i'm able to select all and remove them but when i recheck  all deleted emails come back now have 3000 plus

how do i remove emails completly from my account

In mail, highlight the mailbox you deleted the messages from, then on the menu bar click mailbox then rebuild. That will usually get rid of deleted messages that won't delete.

What type of account did you set-up on the iPad, POP, IMAP, the items on your iPad could have downloaded off the server or you will need wait awhile for the message to update to the iPad.

  • Old emails come back marked as "new"

I have had 2 comcast email accounts on my phone for years, all of a sudden one of them started reloading old emails that had already been read and marking them as new. I deleted the account like 3 times and re-added but every time, the old emails come back. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening on one comcast account but not the other.
I read one one of the past discussions that you can change a setting for archives or something but I can't find that option on my phone or in my email account.
Any help would really be appreciated - thanks!

After some initial issues (which I believe were really part of the "learning curve" for a new device), I'm really loving my LG Ally.  However, I have one issue that I just can't seem to figure out how to fix:  My home email, which is a POP3 email, keeps sending me "new" emails, that are actually old emails that I have deleted from both my phone and my home email.  In some cases, it is even email that I have completely dumped from my "deleted items" on my home email.  Why does it do that?  I have the settings on my home email account set to NOT save email on the server, so why doesn't it seem to be working?  I don't have any problems with my work email which is on an exchange server.  Any ideas?
Hi.  I am sorry you are having issues with your email and I can certainly look into it for you.   When did this start happening?  Dif you download any applications before this started happening?  Try to delete that particular email account and set it up again to see if that works.
    Waiting on your reply!
    Thanks!

  • Reg iPhone Mail App (downloading of emails)

    Hi,
Does iPhone download the entire email when we check for emails?
    Scenario:
    - Open iPhone mail app
    - receive 10 emails
    - open the email to read the contents
    - get ‘loading’ icon..seems as if that’s when it’s trying to get the email
    - the contents received in few seconds depending on the email
    - move on to next email…and see the same loading icon
Is it that mail app downloads just the headers and the content is downloaded when you actually open that particular email? Ideally, I would like the email to be downloaded completely to my phone…this way I can quickly check my emails and move across the messages.
I believe Blackberry works differently where the entire email is downloaded and only attachment is downloaded when you try to access it.
    Thanks,

I have just received the new iphone 4th generation. I have a data plane for 200mb per month.
My question is wether iphone downloads the whole email message or if it downloads only the headers? If it downloads the whole message, can I opt for only the headers?
It seems from the first day of use it downloads all messages including the attachments and thus my data usage is huge. In my old Nokia phone only when I required to read the email it will go ahead to download the whole message-is this possible with iphone?
    Marios.

  • Why does yahoo emails come back with failure notifications

why does yahoo emails come back with failure notifications

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • Foolishly deleted Mail app now I want it back!!!!

I deleted my Mail app thinking I would never need it, as I had been using Entourage, but now I actually want to use it - I am sick of the constant database corruptions I am getting with Entourage.
So I went to my trusty Time Machine backup and restored the app, but received this error:
You can’t use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X. You have Mail version 4.2 (1077/1081). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.4 (Build 10F569). For more information, click the Help button.
Is there a way to get Mail back without a complete re-install?

    Hey Baltwo,
That was the answer! I actually did this before I saw your response but I'm still giving you the solve because it was the correct answer.
So just for the official record for future reference:
Apple Mail had already been installed so I did not need to do the Optional Install. However, since I deleted it prior to updating to 10.6.4, Mail never got updated. When I restored it via Time Machine, it was the previous version - which was no longer compatible, so I downloaded and ran the 10.6.4 ComboUpdate, which then updated Mail app to the current version.
    Hope that all makes sense.
Thanks for all your responses! Apple Discussions is a GREAT resource.

  • Mac Mail keeps moving deleted emails back into inbox

How to stop Mail from moving deleted messages back to inbox?

I've had the same problem for several months. I can't archive emails to the archive folder. They keep moving back into the inbox. I have to keep moving them several times before they stay put.

  • Why does the mail app think my email username and or password is wrong, when they are correct?

I used to be able to check my AOL email through the mail app on my ipod touch. Recently it has been telling me that my username and/or password for my AOL email is wrong. I checked my username and password by logging in to my email on my computer. I tried deleteing and readding the account. Restoring then readding. I am able to use my gmail accounts on my ipod touch.

    Hi,
Is your AOL account an AOL Kids account?  I have seen problems with AOL Kids accounts before in Apple Discussions.  Try a forum search and see if anything useful comes up.
    Hope this helps!
