Mail App in iOS 6.0.1

Hello,
I am interested in knowing how to locate the text edit features in the Mail App. I was composing an email last evening and could not even locate the text edit features, i.e., font style, size and even color like I have in my mail on mu iMac.
Thank you if you can assist.
Mohegan

Good Evening,
I have already posted two questions and received to helpful hints to help me, thank you both. Since apple has limited the text editing features available in the iOS Mail App, there must be a third party app the will allow some integration and with the many iOS users and developers on the planet, I respectfully have a difficult time wondering why I have not yet gotten a reply to assist.
If anyone who reads this can assist with the answer, please do and thank you for your help  so far.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Can not open Mail App in IOS 8.1.1

Since I installed IOS 8.1.1 versión today I have not been able to open Mail App. When I try to open it the screen turns white for a few seconds and then it crashes. I would like to know if there is any solution to this, as checking my mail is escential for my job.
    Thanks in advance,
    Alejandro.

    Hello Alejandro,
For issues with Mail crashing, I would start with closing out of Mail completely by double tapping the Home button and then swiping up on the app. Try opening Mail again to see if it opens up properly. If it continues, try removing the email account and then open Mail to see if it works properly. Then add the account back in. Take a look at the articles below for steps on how to do both options.

  • How do you get notified of Gmail archived labels that skip the inbox with the mail app on iOS devices?

If you are fimiliar with Gmail you know that you are able to set up labels/filters. Well i have my filters set up so when a certain person/company emails me the email gets archived into a certain folder and skips the inbox. This works great for me. This orgnazation method to keep an amazing clean/empty inbox works great. It's just like having a Filing cabinant and inside the filing cabinant you have a folder(label) for each file(email). Below is a sample Gmail that has Archived Labels that have content in each Archived Label that as you can see.. skip the inbox completely regeardless if the message was read or not.
If the Archived Label has a new message in it it will have (1) next to it.
    Ex.
    Client One Folder (23)
    Client Two Folder
    Client Three (2)
    Client Four (5)
Understand how that works? It works great for orginaziaonl reasons..
Here is a photo of what it really looks like. (Info Blurred for security reasons)
On the Gmail end of things this works great if you ask me...only flaw to this is my iOS device won't notify me that i have a new email in my ClientArchived Folder due to the fact that the Mail app preinstalled on the device only checks the inbox for new mail and does NOT check for new mail sent to Archived folders where majority of my mail is set up for orginazional reasons.
I am aware that if i am using my iOS device that i can go to the Mail App and scroll down to account > Gmail > Scroll down and my archived folders for each client are their & shows how many emails are from each client..
but why doesn't it notifty me about this emails that get sent to these organized archived folders in notifcation center?
See the Mail App icon below? Well above it says i have 16 unread emails throughout my Gmail folders/labels.. Why doesn't it give me a red bubble via NC(noticication Center) on the app saying i have 16 unread messages?
My problem isn't that i can't get the emails on the phone.. it's just if i am not expecting an email and someone emails me.. i won't get it until i go and pysically check in the mail account > gmail > archived folder. It's very frustrating seeing as if i like to be quick to respond to emails. Well it's hard to be quick to respond if my phone doesn't notify me about the emails.
Why won't the App notify me when i have emails in folders other than "Inbox"?
Called Apple and talked to a Technician.. He was clueless of a solution.
Does anyone have a fix for this or a work around?
    Any help/input is apperciated!
    -Thanks

my problem exactly. Did you ever figure it out? I had to resort to turning off labels in the web interface for Gmail. Not ideal

  • Links in emails are freezing up the mail app in iOS 6

When I click on any link in any email, the mail app freezes up.  This just started happening after the new iOS 6 update on my iPad 3 wifi.  Is anyone else having this same problem, and does anyone know a fix?

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

  • Is anyone experiencing a bug in mail app in iOS 7 ?

I'm experiencing a bug in mail app in iPhone as well as in my iPad... This bug makes all my mails unread whenever I refresh for mails and whenever I read a new mail it stays unread even if a close the app. Please help me if possible...

I've not heard of or experience any such issue.
Have you tried removing and readding the accounts in question?

  • I'm having problem with the latest official mail app of iOS 7.1.1

Until I open the mail app the email is not coming

You need to change the setting for the email account to push, if that's not an option then change it to download mail every x minutes. Settings>mail, contacts, calendar, scroll down to fetch new data & click on the email account & choose either push or fetch, then go back to the email accounts page, scroll down & choose the schedule for fetch - 15, 30 or hourly.

  • Send from Gmail alias in Mail.app in iOS 7?

I have a Gmail account with several email accounts that forward into it. I've configured Gmail on the web so that I can send email from those accounts.
I just set up this Gmail account in Mail.app in iOS7 on my iPad.
In Gmail on the web, if I receive an email to one of the accounts that forwards into this Gmail account, and click "reply", it will automatically send use that account as the "from" address (rather than the Gmail account).
Is there any way to specify this as a preference in Mail.app on the iPad? Otherwise I have to remember to manually change the "from" address when I reply to an email sent to any of the accounts that forward to my Gmail account.

I've not heard of or experience any such issue.
Have you tried removing and readding the accounts in question?

  • Any mail apps for iOS support Exchange fully?

All of the email apps that I have tried (lots of free mail apps) including Apple's mail client provide only limited support for MS Exchange features. I need to be able to access multiple distribution groups so i can send mail from specific email addresses. This is possible in the Outlook client and also in the full version of Outlook Web App (which cannot be accessed via iPad from what I can tell) but is not supported in any mail apps I can find. Does anyone know of any apps (free or paid) that support advanced Exchange features such as sending from distribution groups?

The distribution groups are properly set up on the Exchange server and this allows me to select from several different From addresses in OWA premium and the Outlook client. If Mail+ supports this then I would buy it immediately. If anyone can confirm this then that would be brilliant...:>

  • Gmail and IMAP mail accounts no longer work in the mail app since iOS 6

I'm getting the User information or password is incorrect message.  Or it takes 10+ minutes to send a message.  It will no longer allow me to sync with my IMAP mail account from work.  Everything worked correctly, then iOS 6 is released and it's hosed.  I've looked online elsewhere and a few people from google are aware of the problem and are trying different things.  I tried enabling two-step id with google and providing an app-specific password to no avail.
Highly frustrated in this, and also in the fact that there are no useful workarounds.  Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi, just update your extensions ( "Change quote and reply format 0.8.1" has to be installed an to be active) by using the updating-function for extensions integrated in Thunderbird.
Or - if the extension is removed - install the latest version from the devellopers website: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/changequote-en.html

  • HT201320 Can we limit the number of emails kept in the Mail app on iOS 7?

In previous versions of iOS, I could limit the amount of emails that were kept on my iPhone to avoid a "build-up" of many messages; I believe I set mine to 50 messages per account. Is there a way to do this in iOS 7? I do not see the option anywhere. I my phone is using over 650MB of my phone's storage and counting. I see this as a looming problem on my 16GB iPhone 4S.
    Thank you for your help.

That setting is no longer available on the iPhone. If this is an Exchange account, there is a setting for how much to sync. I'm not sure if there is a similar setting for IMAP accounts, but there is nothing for POP accounts. You would need to manually delete files on a regular basis and then set similar settings for how often to empty the trash.

  • How can I disable my MobileMe account as sender in the iOS Mail app?

Ever since I logged on to iCloud in OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.0, 10.8.1), I've noticed that in Gmail (using the Mail app for iOS), on my iPhone running iOS 5.1.1, the sender appears to be my MobileMe account (an account I had to use a while back when I first got started using iCloud, but haven't actually used).
Besides flooding my iCloud account mail information with sent mail and the fact that I don't want people associating my email address with the wrong address, it's very annoying that when I choose my regular Gmail address as the sender mail, the next time I send an email, the MobileMe address is the default address yet again.
The problem persists even though I have:
Disabled the iCloud email account (@me.com) in the Mail app in OS X Mountain Lion (the OS in which, by all accounts—no pun intended—it all started).
Disabled iCloud to use and sync Mail.
This is the settings for Gmail in Mountain Lion, in which disabling Mail and the MobileMe account for use, should be the only email address associated with my iCloud account (excepts it obviously isn't as MobileMe is tied to my AppleID for whatever purpose Apple saw fit back in the day):
I saw a thread here discussing the posibility of deleting the iCloud account on the iPhone, powering it off and then, when powered back on, simply signing in again with iCloud. I'm nor sure this is a "solution" as much as a way around something I cannot understand is happening in spite of the changed I have made already.
Surely, someone must be able to tell me what I can do to simply not have my @me.com email address set to the default From address in Mail in iOS. Other than that, I have no real problem with the @me email address being used, at all.
It's just so annyoing when trying to send a quick reply to a colleague or something.
    Please discuss below.

I feel funny replying to myself; I cannot remove this discussion and at any rate, I guess if someone else has this problem, they'll be pleased it has not been deleted.
So, I managed to fix this all on my own. Obviously the difficulty-level is about as low as it gets:
After updating to iOS 6 last night, I was playing around in the settings of my phone, when I came across this, the iCloud for Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calandars > Accounts > iCloud:
All I had to do was to turn Mail off. This leaves the Cc/Bcc, From field empty in my phone's Mail app--just the way I wanted it!

  • How do I archive IMAP messages with non Gmail/iCloud account on iOS Mail.app?

This may seem like a simple question, however I don't seem to be able to work this one out for myself. I hope you guys/girls can help!
I have my IMAP email account setup on my iPhone (own domain name, DBmail IMAP mail server running on VPS). Email works great; I can send/receive, delete, move messages no problem.
When I used MobileMe, Gmail or iCloud, I was given the option to "Archive mail" in the account configuration for that mail account in Settings.app. However, with a simple IMAP account, even though I have an "Archive" folder in my IMAP mailbox, which shows up with a suitable 'Archive-like' icon in Mail.app on my iPhone, I am not given the option to "Archive mail" - i.e. move a message from 'Inbox' to 'Archive' by touching the Archive button - Instead, I just get the delete button, which just moves messages to my 'Trash' folder in my mailbox.
Up to now, I've just put this down to Mail.app on iOS lacking this functionality. After upgrading to iOS 6 this morning (which I hoped would bring this functionality) I'm starting to question whether there's a setting or a workaround that I've missed that provides this functionality. I'm not sure I understand why Mail.app on my MAC allows me to Archive mail for my simple IMAP account, but my iOS devices won't.
Does anyone know of a way to get a simple IMAP account setup in Mail.app on iOS to 'Archive' mail, as opposed to delete? Please chime in if you have any suggestions.
    Joe

I know this is old but it's google #1 for the relevant search and it took me a while
Settings -> mail, contacts, calendars -> pick the imap account -> advanced
    Move discarded emails to:
    Pick the 'archive' option
I have no idea why, must be apple logic, but with delete being the default that's all you can do, when archive is the selection it replaces the deleted button but you can hold it down to get a delete/trash option also.

  • In the mail app why can't I see single page pdf attachment created by SSRS R2 on iPad with iOS 8?

We have reports that are generated using Sql Server Reporting Services 2008 R2 and are distributed to users by email as a PDF attachment.  This worked fine in iOS 7 but ever since users have updated to iOS 8 the single page PDF is missing even though it has the paper clip icon indicating there is an attachment with the email.  If the PDF is multiple pages then the PDF icon would appear but there seems to be a problem with the single page pdf that is embedded on the mail app in iOS 8.
We've recreated this issue creating a test report and sent it to iPads that have iOS 7, iOS 8 using different models of iPads (2, 3, 4) and the ones that have iOS 7 work fine.  Only the ones that have iOS 8 have this issue.  Also tried changing the format of the file to a PNG, TIFF and again the same results on the iPads with iOS 7 display it correctly.  Another test we did was send the PDF to our personal email and open it on our home iPads we were not able to see the single page PDF on iOS 8.  Looking at the headers of the email I can see the that the Content-Type is multipart/mixed.  When the original is forwarded to oneself on the iPad the attachment is included but the Content-Type is application/ms-tnef.

Can you check your email headers, I have also noticed this for reports that are generated using Sql Server Reporting Services 2008 R2. It could to be due to the Content-ID header I believe.
As a single page attachment on iPad will try and display inline, the Content_ID header is possibly affecting this and showing a small blank square as the image instead. Although this isn't defined as inline within the Content-Disposition header and will appear as an attachment on Outlook.

  • IOS SIMULATOR MAIL APP

    Hi.
I start to use Xcode and especially IOS Simulator (Xcode 4.3.2) on OSX LION 10.7.3.
I'd like to know if it's possible to use mail apps on IOS Simulator ? It's not installed by defaut.
I need it to check what looks like newsletter on ipad, iphone ... I send to my client without using each device. I was thinking about using mail apps on ios simulator but I don't know if it's possible.
If yes, can someone explain the procedure to install mail app on IOS simulator ?
    Thank's.
    David

The mail application is not available on the simulator.  You will need to test your application on a device to test that part.
