Mail.app locks up when opening a mail with an attachment
Hopefully someone has run into this before. Our Mac users connect to exchange using IMAP. However, the Intel based users have their mail app lock up when they receive an email with an attachment. So for I havn't been able to find any info on the web, and the non-specific instructions I've found for general maintenance of mail.app have not lead to a resolution either.
So far I've definitely narrowed it down to the Intel based users. Which is a problem because the non-intel users will be switching fairly soon. The general maintenance items I have tried include indexing the mail envelope, I gave one a reboot, but since it did not fix the problem did not try to restart the rest.
The mail.app version varies but is occurring in but most (working and non) are version 2.1.3, one is 2.1.1.

Have setup exchange for POP3 access and setup a workstation to pop the mail over but it still hangs up mail.app. I have also attempted setting the client up for "exchange mode".

I had a pdf that I wanted to attached to an email. I started attaching and then locked up. So I forced quit mail. Now whenever I open the mail app up, it starts up, I see the previous unsent email with a partial composed attachment, but then the spinning ball starts, and my only choice is to force quit. I have already done a disk permissions repair, and a disk repair from the start #R repair, but it did not help the problem.

Mail app is crashing when sending e-mail from Yahoo
When sending an e-mail from the Mail app, the "Sending..." bar shows up, and then the application shuts down and puts me back at the home screen.
The email gets through though.
(Using Yahoo to send)I, too, was having the same problem of blacking out and returning to home each time I sent an email with Edge. I put the phone to sleep, did a hard reset and re-added my account several times. Each time I came back to mail the message was waiting to be sent again. I finally checked my sent mail and it showed up as being sent 22 times. Apparently you should check the sent folder to make sure if it went through or not before trying again.

Mail crashes when opening a message with an attachment!
Each time I try to open a message from a friend of mine with an attached file, Mail immediately crashes. I've tried to delete these emails, but can't even do that much because as soon as I select them, it again crashes. Any ideas?
Turn off the preview pane before selecting the message. This will prevent it from trying to render it, which is probably what is crashing it. If it starts up selecting the message, start up Mail while holding down the Shift key. This will start up without selecting a Mailbox. Then, turn off the preview pane by double-clicking the little dot in the middle of the divider bar between the list and the preview.

What does a 2 on the upper right corner of the Mail icon mean? When opened, the app is essentially blank and unresponsive. We've been using Mail for weeks.
Thanks. I used an Apple in 79-81, and got the first PC in EDS (Ross Perot) in Jan, 82. Installed corporate email in 83. Now have 4 pcs in a house of 2 people, supporting our 5 kids and 15 grandkids. The iPad is what it took to get my wife to use her own email address. I should have known about the red circle - my bad. I did get fixed with a reset. Vern Olson

Apple Mail 4.6 Crashes when opening email with signature
Everytime I open an email with an attachement and a signature Apple Mail 4.6 for 10.6.8 crashes. Does anybody have a solution for this? I already "Rebuild" my mailbox, and it didn't work.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Mail 4.5. When I receive mails with attachments which are visible the save button doesn't work. And some contacts occasionally have problems opening files sent by me using Mail too. This was never a problem on pre-Intel Mac. A real Mac **** up ! Any ideas ?
Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things. -

Mail app window does not open, mail won't send
Ever since my upgrade to 10.7, my mail app has not opened a window (although the app opens). I can manually open a window from File/New Viewer Window. I also have to force quit the mail app, it will not close from Mail/Quit Mail. Also, it cannot send mail. I have been hoping 10.8 upgrade would solve, but no luck.

I have this issue also. What I am doing is going to mailbox and to "get mail". Then it appears in the inbox. But there has to be a better way! I just posted my quetion, also.

I hope I can keep this simple, I'll go by the steps leading to my propblem:
1.
I've been using POP3 mail for a long time, mainly with Outlook on PC's and now that I have made the godly switch to Apple I've been using Mail.app for a couple months. I host my domains at GoDaddy.com and they offer decent mail servers including webmail, etc. Since I'm checking mail on multiple platforms (iPhone, iPad, MacBook and webmail) I decided to start using IMAP instead of POP3. GoDaddy set that up form me in seconds and I got IMAP working on Mail.app in no time (yes, I deleted the old POP accounts and started from zero creating new IMAP accounts).
2.
I've learned to keep mail filing easy so I have just two folders: "Inbox" and "archive". My inbox is... well... my inbox. If a mail is in my inbox it's because it's either a brand new unread mail or it is read and I'm keeping it there because action needs to be take upon it. Once action has been taken and I want to save the mail for future reference I just archive it. If I want to retreive mail I just make a search across all folders. Of course I also have the trash folder, sent items, junk, etc.
3. THE PROBLEM
As seen on the subject line, Mail.app is COPYING instead of MOVING mail to the IMAP server based folders. So when I click on archive, or manualy drag a mail to the "archive" folder it places a copy there but the email is still visible in the inbox on all my devices. I have tried creating other IMAP folders and giving them different names such as "saved mail" or "old mail" and still I get the same problem. To prove the problem is on the Mail.app side I loged into my webmail and moved messages to the "archive" folder from there, and guess what... it worked. The messages did not show up in the inbox of any of my devices any more.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP.... I'm talking about three email addresses which receive tons of business related mail every day... I'm flooded in mail.

I had already tried that. I even created a keyboard shortcut to do so. It doesn't work! As soon as I close down Mail.app and start it up again, the messages are back in the inbox. -
Mail.app pops up saying "Cannot get mail" but the emails are downloaded normally....
mail.app pops up saying "Cannot get mail: The user name or password for "iCloud" is incorrect", that is not true because i can log in on iCloud.com with the same credentials setted in mail.app. But the strange thing is that i can get the email! Let me explain: mail.app download the emails normally but when it check for incoming mail and there are no one, the alert pops up.
This is not a critical issues, i can get the emails anyway, but that alert is really annoying.
I've alredy changed the password of my appleID to a new one, but nothing changed.

My iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing. That is it is running (doesn't crash) but will at time just stop getting email updates. I then have to force close the mail app (i.e. kill it) and then restart it. After restarting it the mail flows again.
Notes:
a) I do connect to Gmail for my mail - I'm using the IMAP facility for gmail currently (i.e. not the "Exchange" method)
b) I do also have the Google "Gmail" app running on my device too
c) on iPhone 3GS, latest version of IOSI have this same problem too. I have both a hotmail and work Microsoft Exchange account setup on my iPhone and have intermitent issues with both. Sometimes the hotmail push works, but my work email doesn't push, other times it's backwards, and sometimes neither work. I can't figure it out. Usually restarting the app (closing out of the multitasking bar), and/or going into settings and disabling the affected mail account works. And to top it, I have an iPad, I'll hear the mail chime go off on my iPad, expecting it to go off on my phone....and it never does, not until I manually fetch it.

I am creating a form on LiveCycle Designer and I am trying to create a form that has a e-mail submit button. When the button is utilized it attaches the form to the e-mail in an plain text .xml format rather than the pdf format. Is there a quick fix?

You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

App Memory Leak When Open iPhoto
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have experienced app memory leak when open iPhoto? My free memory immediate dropped from 5000 mb to 15mb when I open iPhoto and the app never open. If I force to quit iPhoto, all return to normal and everything work fine. I only have iPhoto app running, not sure what caused the memory leak???

JHMLActually the new library was a test to see if the problem occurred only with your current library or with all libraries. The fact that switching libraries cleared up the problem is just serendipitous.
