Mail.app sends emails too soon

For the past six months or so, Mail.app has been sending emails while I'm halfway through composing them. I'm not accidentally hitting the Send button, or typing the keyboard shortcut. So I've no idea what's actually doing it. Is anyone else noticing the same bug?

I haven't seen it mentioned here.
Are your mails plain text or RTF? Are you using any apps or widgets that interface with mail (eg new mail announcers)? Does it always happen or only sometimes? What happens if you disconnect from the internet while composing?

  • Mountain Lion Mail.app Sends Email Several Times While Drafting Reply

Using Mail.app in Mountain Lion and the default configuration of Gmail via IMAP (as configured by Mail.app) when I reply to an existing message, Mail.app sends the partially completed email message several times while I am drafting the message, without me hitting the send button. This does not occur when composing new messages. I have not yet determined what is causing the message to send. My working theory is that it is sending the message each time a draft is saved to the server. Any insight on what is happening (or confirmation that other people are experiencing the same behavior) would be appreciated.

I have 4 accounts running, 2 POP and 2 IMAP, after doing some checking today with a mac engineer online, it appears that it is incoming mail only affected and only on the POP accounts. I had previously tried recreating the accounts but as from today even just quitting Mail and reopening no longer works... the engineer has had to exculate my call to a specialist who in turn has now had to send it off to a specialist team to work on. When I get results, I will post them in case it helps someone else.

  • Mail app sends emails with headers in body.

I use Mail.app to access my MS Exchange account. When replying to the end of a long email thread, the people I send the email end up seeing the headers after references. I know it's possible it's on the other users end, but if there any way to fix this problem on my end?
An example of what is seen in the body of one of my emails:

    Hi Tom,
Do you see those long headers when you initially receive the message?
If you do, then you can change that by going to Mail/Preferences/Viewing and change "Show header detail" to "Default" or "None". You can also customize what is seen in headers.

  • Refurbished MacBook Pro Mail app sends email responses to the previous owner

I bought my MacBook Pro refurbished about two years ago, and noticed recently that when I send emails through the Mail app, I don't get the responses. I quickly found out that, when I send emails through Mail, it sends under the email of my MacBook's previous owner, and so when people respond to these emails, they get sent to her.
I tried looking it up and I can't find anyone who's had a similar problem.
Also, just to rule out one option, when I go to edit the accounts in Mail, I have the mailbox under my email address. Could it be something with my Apple ID?Has this happened to anyone else?

I doubt you want just a pig-pile in your inbox.
Create categories like Taxes, Services, Friendly correspondence, Online Orders, Apple Discussions. Move the emails into the folders and they survive on your Mac.

  • Duplicate MIME headers when Mail.app sends email

Looks like Mail.app is sending two MIME headers:
    Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v928.1)
    Mime-Version: 1.0
Is there anyway to stop this?
I think it is what is breaking the DKIM signing for me. (Thunderbird, webmail etc works find sending DKIM signed mails, but Mail.app and my iPhone mangle the signature somehow).
    Thanks,
    James.

    msg.setSubject(subject);

  • Mail.app default email reader list

In anticipation of Google killing off the Google Notifier (for Mac & Windows) on Jan 31, 2014, I uninstalled it today and replaced it with another notifier app (Notifier for Gmail).  Even though I used AppCleaner, the most touted uninstaller for Mac, one trace of Google Notifier remains and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.  I'm sure it's buried somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere.  If anyone has an idea where to look, I appreciate your help.  Following is a screenshot of what I'm trying to get rid of on the Mail.app default email reader list.

95% of the time they take the easy road and tell people to simply drag the app into the trash.  With normal apps having anywhere from 3-7 attached files, if one tries a lot of software, over time that leaves a lot of extraneous folders and files on their machines.  Some of them will send you complete instructions if you ask, though.
Still hopeful someone here might know a way to fix this in Terminal, similar to how we get rid of duplicate entrie for "Open with" on the right-click context menu for an app.  If the question gets answered in the Google product support forum I'll be sure to add it here.

  • Mac mail keeps sending emails from different accounts even though it says correct email in "sent" folder. Recipients reply and it goes to different email address. So confusing.

mac mail keeps sending emails from my different accounts even though it says correct email in "sent" folder and correct email account was highlighted. Recipients reply and it goes to different email address. So confusing and annoying.

    Hi Mike,
I had the same issue and managed to solve it.
    Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Then in the account information tab, at the bottom should be outgoing mail server (SMTP) and click the drop down box
Mine had a few different servers in it so i went into edit SMPT server list. Click advanced and it will tell you which ones are going from which email address.
Delete the ones you dont want, and it should work or instead of deleting click use only this server, i imagine that will work to
    Hope This Helps

  • I can't gey yahoo mail to send email- it says something like not connected to server?

I Cannot get yahoo mail to send emails. I wonder what step I missed during the sort up process?

    Howdy msmantila,
It sounds like you cannot check your Yahoo email on the iPad. I would recommend the troubleshooting in the following article to help get that resolved, named:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Tap Safari and load a webpage. If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you can't load a webpage, check your Wi-Fi connection or try a different Internet connection:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection.
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to make sure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Make sure your settings are correct using Mail Settings Lookup.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Mail app - The email body doesn't appear on iPad.

Mail app - The email body doesn't appear anymore on my iPad2. I've deleted the account and set it up again from scratch, but no luck.
I have an iPhone and everything works fine.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • Yosemite latest update has broken yahoo email from mail.app. Emails won't collect or send. Tried deleting the yahoo account, now I can't re-add it - "an unknown error has occurred"

Did the latest update to Yosemite last night. All day my mail has played up. Either it won't collect email from IMAP for long periods, or sent emails would just sit in outbox then send them periodically.
I've now tried deleting and re adding the account. But it won't re add correctly - I either get "an unknown error has occurred" when I try and add it as a "Yahoo" account, and if I try adding it as "other email account" it syncs up around 300 email messages and then won't work.
Please help, email is a vital cog in my day to day Mac use.
    Thanks

This worked for me for my Yahoo.

  • My iPhone mail app deletes emails from my hotmail. How can I get my MacBook Air mail app to do the same?

    Hi
When using Mail on my MacBook Air (I don't open it often), i receive hundrends of emails through it, even if those messages have been deleted from my iPhone/hotmail.
When i set up Mail on my iPhone there was an option that enabled deleted/read messages to also be deleted/read on hotmail automatically.
I can't work out how to join up my MacBook mail with this too? Anybody know what I mean and can help??
    Thanks

Comcast is POP email. I have it as well. POP email does not sync across devices. If I read an email on my iPad it will appear as unread on my Mac in the Mac Mail App when I launch it.That's how POP accounts work. The emails will not sync across devices.

  • Mail wont send emails - Help!

    Hello!
Unable to send emails from my Mac (G5 OSX 10.5.8) using Mail.
Dialogue box says "Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator."
Email addresses are fine (in use for years) and smtp address is good too.
    Receiving incoming emails without problem.
Connection Doctor shows all is good for my 3 PoP accounts.
Problems started on returning from overseas trip. Abroad I use a Mac Pro which I upgraded to snow leopard. I also use MobileMe. The Mac Pro had issues sending mails too - using connections which had worked faultlessly for years. Had to restart it to send emails waiting in Outbox.
Any fixes or help for me?
    Thanks for any responses
    Cheers

Is the problem that Mail will not send ANY emails or that you cannot Reply to some emails.
If the former, look at your SMTP settings (not just the SMTP address) to ensure that your port number and authentication type are correct for your current ISP. Being abroad might have reset these.
If the latter, look at the "Send To address" which Mail has infrequently corrupted since Panther.
Sometimes if you Reply to an email sent from: <[email protected]>, Mail creates the corrupted address: "[email protected]><[email protected]" <[email protected]> which will not send successfully.

  • 10.7 SMTP Mail Logs send email address- Assign Postmaster?

How do you assign the SMTP mail log email address? I received an email this morning from another System Administrator (who previously administered this server), that he received the following message (I should be receiving these notifications, not him. I am having the same problem. I also can't send anything with attachments at all. Mail Just hangs there endlessly. This is a HUGE problem for me right now, and I don't feel like using entourage mail because it is not really reliable either. Does anyone know how to get a direct hold of Mac Telephone Support or engineering? I need to fix this problem like right now. We need to go back one level of code. Mr. Logic... This is my third day since I downloaded this code revision too, so please let me know what you find out, and I will do the same for you. I should have known better than to install this code without reading up on the issues and fixes.
    [email protected]
Since downloading the 10.4.7 update I've experienced
the mail problem wherein emails can't be sent to the
smtp server. I've read all the discussions on all
the various fora, and tried all the fixes (e.g.
downloading the combo update instead, trashing mail
preferences, repairing permissions, setting up mail
again from scratch, looking for the SOCKS proxy,
resetting the PRAM, etc. etc. etc.) but all to no
    avail.
Note that in my case the SOCKS proxy checkbox was
NEVER ticked/checked and so I couldn't uncheck it
(which was the fix that seems to have worked for most
    people).
Anyway... last night I thought would try setting the
SOCKS proxy checkbox myself, so that I could then
    uncheck it. (you never know!)
However, when doing this I noticed that any changes I
made to the proxy checkboxes in the Network system
    preference panel ARE NOT SAVED.
i.e. If I tick one or more of them and Apply the
changes, then exit the Network Preferences panel, the
relaunch the Network Preferences panel, they are all
    UNCHECKED again.
Is this related to my Mail problem? Any clues?
This is my 3rd day without the ability to send email
from the Mail client in 10.4.7. Not good.
    Any help/suggestions appreciated.
    Mr Logic.
