Mail appearing on MacBook Pro not on desktop

I use my iMac every day and very frequently check Mail on it. I also have a MacBook Pro which I only use occasionally and very seldom check email on it.
However, when I do use the MBPro and check mail, I find that there are several messages on it that I haven't received on my iMac and are dated several days - weeks - or month - earlier when I was on my iMac.
How can I correct this so that I can be sure I am getting all of my mail on my iMac?
Thank you for your help.
Vernon

It appears that Yosemite's Mail 8 has made a change in Mail signatures. I have always had a photo as part of my signature. With the upgrade to Yosemite, the photo causes the behavior noted above. A signature with a photo will cause it to stick, although adding a signature without a photo below it will behave as expected. Just removing the photo in the Signature preference will cause the signature to behave as expected.

  • Mail on my MacBook pro not working

    Good morning.
My mail account on my 13 inch MacBookPro has stopped working and I am out of ideas.
I can receive my mail on the iMac, the 15inch MBP and on the iTouch, synchronization is working and I can also receive mail via MobileMe.Also my wife using all the above also can send and receive mail. the Internet work on all machines.
The problem is isolated to mail account on the 13inch MBP. This was working until last night when I attempted send a very large file and half way through the message said can't send it via the server and I stopped it and deleted the outgoing message. I seem to recall that I received and sent messages after that.
I have rebooted and restarted, checked the settings with the iMac and the other MBP, all are the same. I have re set the modem. Also sent messages back and forwards via my wife's e-mail on the 13inch MBP and the iMac. All sent and received ok by the other units. I have sent messages from my account to my wife and myself from the imac. Received on iTouch, Mobileme and my wife's account ok.
The problem is isolated to the 13inch and the mail programme.
The 13inch MBp has a continually spinning wheel or the bell,( seems to alternate) and a file "on my Mac" which shows numerous times a message from me at 7.27 last night with no subject. I have no idea what that is.
I hope that this gives enough info to someone to point me in the right direction as to how to reset this machine and get the mail working.
    I appreciate any assistance.
    Thanks everyone

I just thought of another way to approach it:
    Follow this path:
    Quit Mail
Users - Library - Mail - POP-your email address folder (or IMAP if that's what you use).
You should find the following mailboxes (mbox) there:
    Deleted Messages
    Drafts
    Inbox
    Junk
    Sent
Click on the Junk.mbox - Messages folder and manually drag/throw the offending message into the trash.
    Empty trash.
(If you have more than one message there, throw them all out unless you want to keep junk messages because you won't be able to differentiate)
    And if that doesn't work,
Graham might have a point - the only way I know of to clear caches is with a utility like Onyx. I just checked my Onyx and under Automation, it mentions clearing out caches as well as rebuilding Mail's envelope index. So, my next step would be to run Onyx and use the Automation tab. If you do not have Onyx, you can download it here (it's free):
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/onyx.html
After you install it, run it (you'll need your password) by running the default set under the Automation tab. You'll have to restart after it is done.
Trashing a .plist file is somewhat like "reloading" because that file contains all the settings for the application, so in essence you are starting over (except for the mailboxes which are still intact).

  • My e-mails do not appear in Mail on my MacBook Pro

For the last week my incoming mails on my iCloud account does not appear in Mail on my MacBook Pro.  E-mails appear as normal on my iCloud and iPhone.
I have logged out of iCloud on my Mac and logged on again, still the same problem.
    Any advice anyone?

  • TS3276 Web through this step-by-step, but alas it did not solve the problem. For some reason I can download mail on my Macbook Pro, but no my iMac. Connection Doctor shows all green lights.

Went through this step-by-step, but alas it did not solve the problem. For some reason I can download mail on my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but no my iMac. Connection Doctor shows all green lights. This started today when I was prompted to re-enter incoming mail server passwords. I re-entered passowrds yet again to make sure they were correct. Rebuilt the inBox. Connection Doctor continues to show all green lights, but am still unable to download mail to the inbox. Has anyone else ever run into this problem?

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

  • Email sent on my iphone 5 does not show in the sent folder in mail on my macbook pro and vice versa especially since update to Yosemite

I have an iphone 5 and a Macbook pro. Since upgrading to Yosemite, when I send an email from my yahoo email account or another email account linked to my website, on my iphone, the emails don't show in the sent folder in mail on my macbook pro and vice versa.
I have deleted the accounts and re-created them on both my iphone and macbook pro but the samething keeps happening.
When last I was at the istore, they were unable to sort it out and said I needed to book it in.
Any suggestions that will prevent me from booking my macbook pro in are welcome.

    Hi,
Are you saying you are trying to synch iMessages across two iPhones ?
Or do you mean you are trying to get iMessage that were synced to one iPhone to show on another ?
Whilst the first is possible - from the date you add the second iPhone the second  is not possible.

  • HT6030 I no longer have my notes in mail on my MacBook Pro

I no longer have my notes in 'mail' on my MacBook Pro, but they are in my IPhone and IPad.  They used to be in my MacBook Pro and they did synch with the other two devices with ICloud.  I think that it may have something to do with upgrading Maverick on November 17.

I am running 10.9 and the app "notes" is totally empty.

  • Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help

Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help!

    Hi ..
Shift key boots into Safe Mode, not Recovery.
This only works on a Mac running v10.7 Lion or later.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery
If you can't boot into Recovery Mode, help here >   Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup

  • ICloud mail does not reconnect in Mail application on MacBook Pro after disconnecting and reconnecting iPhone or after sleep

iCloud mail does not reconnect in Mail on my MacBook Pro after sleep or after disconnecting and reconnecting my iPhone. This only happens when I use my iPhone as a 3G-modem and not when I am on Wi-Fi. The only solution seems to be to quit the Mail-application and restart it again. Then Mail reconnects to iCloud.

    Hi horstp,
Given your description of the issue (works on other Macs), it may be worth trying to set up that account by itself in a new test user on the iMac to see if it can be isolated to a user-specific file. You may find the following article helpful:

Check that your phone settings are not set to remove messages from your server after downloading.

  • ICloud does not update emails in Mail on my MacBook Pro unless Mail app is open

    Hi, looking for some advice
Up to a few days ago whenever I started up Mail in my MacBook Pro the e-mails I had received on my iPhone/iPad were pushed through and were visible as read.
Only now unless I have the MacBook runnig with the Mail app open they don't come through.
I can force them to synce if I move the emails on my iphone into a different folder, then back to inbox, but only while the Mail app is running.
It's annoying as one thing I like is being able to read the emails on my mobile devices then reply later from the MacBook when I get home.
I did change my iCloud password recently but it is the same across all devices, I removed the iCloud account from mail and system prefs then added them back but no joy.
I'm fairly sure it all started when I updated to iOS7 on the iPhone & iPad but cant be certain as I dont use the MacBook every day,
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks

OK, I persevered and used the Rebuild mailbox option on Mail, actually had to do it twice, but now when I boot up and Mail opens all the previously received iCloud messages I've read on iPhone/iPad are pushed through.
    Back to normal...

  • HT1338 What's going on with iCloud (MobileMe)?  I'm able to sign in here, but I can't access mail on my Macbook Pro, iPhone, or work computer.  I always get an authorization error (user-id or passwork wrong).  This has been going on for almost a week now.

The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
    - connecting the iPad to your Mac
    - selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
    - selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there  then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ?

when trying to add new mail to my macbook pro it crash on me
    help please
    thank you

    Hello BassoonPlayer,
Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using.  FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in.  This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly.  By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you.  Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

  • ICloud Mail on My MacBook Pro

For some reason, my iCloud e-mail on my MacBook Pro goes crazy! I can send and receive mail, but no matter how I set the blue tab and up/down "Date Received" arrow, sometimes my mail goes back to 2002 back when I first set up my mail on an old Titanium MacBook! So I have to spend wasted time scrolling through all my messages from 2002!
This just started happening with my new MacBook Pro that I purchased last summer.
Any clue as to why this is happening?
    Thanks in advance!
    Tom

Since this is a question regarding Mail you need to be asking it in the Mail thread. It is not an issue with the hardware of your Macbook Pro. Sorry.

  • Why will macbook pro not go to sleep with Lion OS?

Why will macbook pro not go to sleep with Lion OS?

Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
    Step 1
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power Adapter ▹ Wake for network access: uncheck. You may need to unlock the preference pane by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your administrator password.
    Step 2
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Schedule… ▹ Start up or wake: uncheck
    Step 3
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Print & Scan ▹ Open Print Queue...
Check all printers for unfinished jobs. Deal with any you find.
    Step 4
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse or trackball, and monitor, if applicable.
    Step 5
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Enter “powerd” (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Select the powerd process and click the Quit Process button in the toobar (stop-sign icon.) In the sheet that opens, click Force Quit. You’ll be prompted for your administrator password. The process will be relaunched immediately.
    Step 6
Boot in safe mode and log in. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the Mac OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
    Step 7
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
    Step 8
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again.

  • MacBook Pro Not Turning On / Green Light

    Hi,
I have a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro 13", which has been my trusty machine for the past five years. It's been a fantastic machine.
Recently, it began losing the time, and shutting off on it's own. Yesterday, it simply gave up, shut off, and that was the last time I was able to turn it on. Since that, I've been unable to turn it on.
When pressing the power button, the charger light goes green (it was previously orange). The battery indicator light shows as charging.
Has anybody any ideas as to how I could fix it? Missing my Mac!
    Many thanks,
    George
