Mail appears to be open, but nowhere to be found

In the dock, it shows the number of emails I have unread and also shows that Mail is open, but when I click on it, there is nothing. Also, tried to reboot and it says that mail is open and won't allow me to shut down. Where is it?

I tried the 3 and 4 finger swipe left and right. What I did finally do that worked was to do a command-option-escape and Force Quit Mail. Whew! thanks for answering my post.

Ok, depending on your email provider you may be able to change this, for example my email account is with GMAIL, so if yours is GMAIL as an example having a trash folder on your iPad will only ever delete mails from your iPad, they won't be deleted from the mail server, and carrying on with this example maybe the server is full, but I'd suspect you may get an error message regarding this.
Have you checked your iPad trash folder? If so is this full or empty at present? Have you also tried closing the Mail app and reopening it, it could have just glitched out.
If you've tried the steps above and get no joy then it may be worth trying a reset: To do this with iPad turned on hold down the Sleep/Wake & Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Photo showing in bottom left corner of Camera but nowhere to be found on phone

I took a picture on my iPhone 5S (upgraded to iOS 8) and it is nowhere to be found on my phone. I took it with the front facing camera and I used the + button to take the photo. It showed the 1 counter on the screen as if I were taking a boost picture (i must have held the button down a second longer than normal) and then it went back to the camera screen like normal. I went to touch the bottom left corner of the screen where it always shows a preview of your last added photo but the photo was nowhere to be found. I tried restarting my phone, but it still was nowhere to be found except in the lower left corner as a preview to my camera roll. I tried "retracing my steps" and sometimes the same thing happened and sometimes it didn't. I opened up Image Capture on my computer and the photos are all there, but I'm wondering if there is a way to stop this from happening on my phone? Or if anyone knows where they are hiding in my phone?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Music showing up and playing on comp but nowhere to be found in ipod! :(

hiya! I have recently put alot of our favorite music on our ipod and it shows that it was added to the ipod and it will play from the computer too, but when i go to play the songs off of the ipod itself they're gone! nowhere to be found and its really irritating! does anyone know how to solve this problem!?

Mail appears to be send - but isn't

Hopefully somebody can help figure this out - because it's driving me nuts:
I use Mail - and in my job I often sends mails with a lot of recipients. But Mail is playing games with me. Most of the time I send and receive OK, but from time to time mails disapears.
Two examples:
When somebody sends me a mail (and I know its coming), I don't get it - and the sender doesn't get an error mail.
When I send out emails, they move to the send folder - but they aren't send.
What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen? It's really a big problem.

If this email account is provided by your ISP or by your web domain hosting company, you need to contact the email account provider for this account.
If someone sends you a message and you don't receive it with the Mail.app, have you checked the account via webmail access (if available) using a browser to confirm if the missing message is available on the server but not downloaded by Mail?
If not available on the server either, this is not a Mail.app problem.
If a message cannot be successfully sent by the Mail.app for whatever reason, it will remain in the Outbox mailbox. A message moved to the account's Sent mailbox indicates the message was sent.
Open one of these sent messages not received by the recipient. At the menu bar, go to View > Message and select Long Headers.
If there is text - including a mix of numbers and letters next to Message ID, this is additional proof the message was sent. When contacting your ISP or email account provider for your email account, you need to provide them the Message ID for any sent message reported as not being received by the recipient. Your ISP or email account provider for your email account should be able to trace the message with the Message ID for the message to determine if it was delivered to the recipient's incoming mail server.
This doesn't sound like a Mail.app problem to me.

Mail appears to work fine but no email is downloaded.

Something very weird is going on with my Mail. I installed Leopard about two days ago and everything was working fine, but then suddenly I noticed I stopped receiving e-mails.
So I checked in my webmail and there were loads of new e-mails, but these are not coming through to Mail.
It's not related to any account settings I believed because I got 5 different accounts on Mail (from different providers hence different settings) and none of them are receiving e-mails.
The weird thing is that I am not getting any errors, everything seems to be working ok.
Any clues will be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. If you open the Activity Viewer (the window, not the pane at the bottom of the sidebar which never seems to show anything helpful), there is generally a message about ‘Copying…’ a certain message (one of the most recently-received messages).
I try to quit Mail and although the window closes, the application doesn't quit (still the light on the Dock). So then I have to force-quit the application (by option–right-clicking on the icon on the Dock) before it will deign to receive any more mail.

E-mail appears in sent box but recipients are not getting it

I have been sending e-mails to people but they are not receiving them. Also the e-mail that I sent shows up in my sent box. The account is through my school and they've been really helpful (just a little bit of sarcasm there). They told me to look at incoming and outgoing servers, which have been correctly put in. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming this is now a very regular event, and not intermittent?
Do you have a non-.edu email account to which you could CC or BCC yourself, and see if you are receiving it there? And if so, then verify whether your desired recipients received anything if you did?
Also, at the same time, CC or BCC your school account. Do you receive a copy there?
When you send these emails, is the computer that you are using connected to the campus LAN, or are you trying to access their mail servers from "outside?"

Notification of new mail but nowhere to be found

yesterday I got a notification for 2 new unread messages waiting in my .mac.com inbox (with Mail.app) but I only found 1 unread message in the inbox. When I clicked and read it the count of unread messages went to zero. I only read 1 message. Is there a problem with the unread message count or did I lose one unread message?

It's hard to tell for sure, but I believe it's just that there was a problem with the unread count, which you may fix rebuilding the mailbox, i.e. select it and do Mailbox > Rebuild.

Incoming iCloud mail appearing on my Mac but not on my iPhone

I am able to send and receive email from/to my @icloud.com/@me.com accounts from within Mac OS Mail (Mountain Lion) but nothing is coming through to my iCloud Inbox in Mail on my iPhone. I have tried deleting iCloud from the iPhone and reinstating it already, but that has not worked.
On the iPhone, I have gone in to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > (Accounts) iCloud > Account (my Apple ID) iCloud Account Information > Advanced - Under 'Allow Sending From' my two iCloud mail accounts (@icloud.com and @me.com) are displayed, but the @me.com account is dimmed, but the on/off switch is On and not selectable, with the @icloud.com account selectable.

That's normal. The @me.com is dimmed because you have selected this account as your default address to send from (so you can't disallow sending from it). If you tap Email just above this setting, you wil notice that your @me.com address is checked as your default account to send from.

HT1277 Can't restart because Mail says it's open but won't let me quit.

I have a MacBook Pro and have updated to Mavericks. I'm trying to update iTunes, but it isn't working because it says I need to quit Mail. I don't USE this application, but when I try to quit it, "Quit" is grayed out! How can I restart? I also won't be able to update anything which requires a restart until I can solve this problem. When clicking on a link in an Outlook e-mail, Firefox does not open, but Outlook crashes.

Could this problem be associated with a previous problem I reported involving SEND LINK command crashing Firefox? It seems as if the interface between Outlook and Firefox is not working properly. I ahve not received an answer on my previous problem yet.

I have identified the cause of this problem. Spybot S &D 2 Beta was installed on this machine, and it was the culprit. I have informed the vendor, and replaced it with production version 162 of Spybot S &D. The problem is no longer present.

HT1657 Movie rental downloaded but nowhere to be found

I downloaded a movie rental but it does not appear in my downloads or library.
The movie in itunes store says it has been downloaded.
Where is it??

Click on LIBRARY on the top right;
Select MOVIES from the drop down menu on the top left;
Click on RENTED on the top center.
It took me about an hour to find that out.
They should have a link from the iTunes Store, or explain what to do after we pay for the rental.

Recently I have been unable to access our Comcast Xfinity E-mail application in Firefox. It opens but is "frozen" so that I am unable to open e-mail messages or the full inbox.

I have been using Firefox instead of MS Explorer to access our Comcast E-mail account on my Lenova laptop for several months.
Firefox was loaded onto my Lenova Laptop during mid-2011.
I continued to primarily use MS Explorer as my search engine while accessing our Comcast e-mail account until the latter part of 2011. At that time I was urged to try Firefox when I seemed to have slow processing speed in Explorer.
It worked great, and I was very pleased with the processing speed while using my e-mail application (seemed much faster than MS Explorer).
A couple weeks ago I first discovered I could not open any of the listed e-mails in the Comcast Inbox, nor am I able to expand to a full view of the inbox instead of the summary view of only the few latest new message titles. New incoming e-mails appear in the listing, but I am unable to open them from my laptop.
I have no problem with our Comcast E-mail application while using MS Explorer on my laptop (except for slower processing speed).
We also can access all Comcast e-mail functions from our Dell desktop in both Firefox and Explorer; therefore the cause of the problem doesn't appear to be Comcast.
Any suggestions on what caused this problem and how to fix it? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mail Opens, But Doesn't Go Any Further

I open the Mail application. It opens, but right when it does, it keeps crashing and it always says that the "Application failed." So, I can't see any of my mail unless I use .Mac Mail online, which I don't want to do.
Can someone please help me?

Does Mail crash immediately upon start up or when it starts to download messages?
If the former, the cause could be a troublesome message that Mail tries to load every time you open it. Try launching Mail holding the Shift key down until the main window appears. This should prevent Mail from trying to select any mailboxes or load any messages upon start up.
If Mail crashes when it starts to download new mail, try the following to check whether the junk filter could have a bearing on it and post back with your observations:
1. Either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down your Internet connection and open Mail afterwards.
2. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail and disable junk mail filtering.
3. Go online again.

Mail app flashes open but closes immediately

Every time I try to open my Mail app it flashes open but then closes right away.
When I go into Settings > Mail it says "ACCOUNTS ARE CURRENTLY SYNCING." -- but I don't show anywhere that it is syncing to my iPad.
Any suggestions??

First, reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
Restoring for the latest backup would be the next step after that:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If this does not work, delete the account and set it up again.
