Mail Application - Overwriting of From & Subject Headings in Received Mail

On all of my emails, the content of the 'From' heading appears on top of the 'Subject' heading making it impossible to read either. Similarly, the 'To' heading is not populated, I am guessing the content is on the line below, which is hidden.
I am struggling resolve the following issue through preference settings. Has anyone got any suggestions? I have tried previous threads to no avail.
All comments appreciated.

Dave

I would like to add that it stops changing the 'last opened' date on files in those folders if I quit the mail program.

In the Thread Pane where your messages are listed?
You see that bar with the labels "From", "Subject", "Date" and so on? Well, they are buttons. You can click on them to sort your messages. You can also drag them with the mouse left and right to reposition them, and you can drag their ends to change the column widths.
These are standard computer actions; you can do all of this in Windows Explorer ("My Computer") too.
In Thunderbird, a right-click on any of these buttons will reveal a pop-up menu where you can select and deselect the columns to control what is shown.

  • Mail application: Is it possible to have 2 separate Mail applications running?

(I am currently running Snow Leopard but planning to switch to Lion soon.)
I know this seems unlikely, but is there a may to run 2 separate Mail applications on the same Mac?
On my office computer I use Mail for my Personal email and Entourage for my Work email. I do not need to use Entourage for any work related reason, I use it solely to keep my Personal and Work email separated in different applications.
I really love Mail and am not married to Entourage. If there was a way to run two separate Mail applications I would move my Work email to Mail.
Again, I anticipate the answer to be no, but I figure there is no harm in asking.
    Thanks,
    Marcantonio

You can run Apple Mail and use it for two (or more) totally separate email accounts, e.g. one for work and one for personal.
You set up each account separately in Mail by going to Preferences ... and Accounts.
In the Accounts pane, you will see a small "+" and "-" at the bottom left of the pane. That's to add ("+") or delete ("-") accounts. You need to enter all the correct server and account information separately for each of your two accounts.
When you run Apple Mail after dloing this, you can view the email for those accounts SEPARATELY for each of the Inbox, Sent, and Trash. Or you can view them all together if you choose (e.g. you can view one Inbox that has all your work and personal email together). You can basically do this however you want.
For instance I use earthlink (POP) for one of my personal accounts, I use a different account at work via MS-Exchange (IMAP). I get them both on Apple Mail, and I always keep them completely separate (separate Inbox, Sent, Trash folders).
I use Outlook for the MS-Exchange "work email", but that's just the most recent version of MS email clients for the Mac, Entourage is an older version.

    Hi there tamarafromdarien,
You may find the troubleshooting steps for iCloud Mail in the article below helpful.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
If you can't send mail in OS X Mail
If you receive this alert or a similar alert when sending a message from your iCloud email address in OS X Mail:
“This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The reason for the failure is: An error occurred while delivering this message via the smtp server: server name.”
In OS X Mail, choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Choose your iCloud account from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu. Example: “Derrick Parker (iCloud)”.
Note: The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) menu also includes an Edit SMTP Server List command. If you choose this command, be aware that the iCloud SMTP server won't be among the servers that can be edited. This is normal.
If you're attaching a large file
Message attachments can't exceed the maximum size allowed by your email service provider or the recipient's email service provider. The maximum size varies by service provider. Try compressing the filebefore sending it, or send your message without the attachment to verify that there are no issues with sending.

  • Ovi Mail and Outlook 2010; from/subject/date field...

I'm using Outlook 2010 version for my home laptop and tuesday evening all incoming mails missed information for sender, subject and the date/time fields. Connecting to Ovi mail by browser, all these information is existing on mails.
Is there has been change on server setup after moving to Yahoo servers??

Mail messages always include more headers than are normally shown by the mail client. Sometimes people may wish to examine the full set of headers to check the veracity of a message, or to determine its actual origin, and generally when trouble-shooting. You control whether or not you see them with menu View/Message/Long Headers, or you may have a button for it on your toolbar.

  • Outlook 2010 - Subject line of new e-mail changes to duplicate the subject of the e-mail below

I'm having the strangest issue with a new install of Outlook 2010. Sometimes when I receive a new e-mail, the from, subject, received, and size fields will duplicate the information from the e-mail below it. In other words, no matter what the sender, subject,
time, etc. actually is, it will display in the inbox the same as the e-mail below it. Once I open it, it will list correctly in the inbox, or I can click on another folder and return to the inbox to see it correctly displayed.
I do not have any kind of preview on, and the inbox only displays one line. There is no pattern to which e-mails this happens to.
    Any ideas?

Please run /cleanviews switch to check the result.
(Type "Outlook.exe /cleanviews in Windows search bar and press ENTER.)
Please also create a new Outlook profile to check if the issue still persists. Thanks.

  • Overwrite Value from Payload for RCVPOR, Receiver Port

    Dear All,
Can we overwrite value of receiver port (RCVPOR) from Payload?
The actual port value (For example SAP<SID>) will be specified in IDOC Receiver adapter.
If I want to replace this value with say ABC can I do it through mapping?
I tried using "apply control record from Payload"  for IDOC Receiver communication channel but still the actual port value (SAP<SID>) is going to SAPR3 and not ABC.
I checked the help.sap.com link as well.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/13/95244269625633e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
As per my understandings, RCVPOR value will be picked up only from IDOC Receiver communication channel.
    Can you please suggest?
    Warm Regards,
    Gouri

    Thanks Prateek for replying.
Even my understanding is same that this value will not be overwritten. But I am not able to find any help.sap.com link or valid SAP Document which will clearly specify this.
I need to pass this ABC value into IDOC header Record. This value will be required by User as selection criteria while executing WE05 and WE09 reports on SAPR3.
This ABC value is nothing but the Application name and while executing above standard reports user will be able to differentiate application specific IDOCs if i provide this information in IDOC header .
Now I spoke to ABAP Team and he suggested to use RCVPOR filed for thsi purpose as it is present in selection screen of both WE05 and WE09 report.
So I wanted a confirmation through official document that we wont be able to use this field.

  • Add an e-mail adress to send from - not a new e-mail acount.

    Hi!
How do I add an e-mail adress to send from in Mail? I do not want to add a new acount, just an e-mail adress that is shown to the reciver that the e-mail was sent from a specific adress. You can choose in the menu of a new e-mail which adress you want to send from - and I had that earlier. But now suddenly my icloud-adress appears as an option instead of the e-mail adress I want to use. So how can I add a new one?
    Best regards,
    Jenny

  • Mail Application doesn't keep data of my Yahoo mail account

Hello! I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts). Any possible solution?

What I would like to add is that the problem only appeared last week, without doing anything ... I have had no such problems since September I got the computer ...

  • I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it "can't connect" to my yahoo mail account, despite the fact that I can receive mail from that account. The banner appears with my coded password highlighted and asks me to choose 'cancel' or 'ok'.

I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it 'can't connect' to my Yahoo account despite the fact that I am able to receive mail from that account. It appears with the name of my Yahoo account, my password (coded), and the choice to 'cancel' or 'ok'. If I click either, the banner goes away but comes back soon. I can open Mail and see that all accounts are online. I get the banner SEVERAL time during a session - very annoying!
I have several accounts, but this only happens with Yahoo and sometimes Hotmail. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this Mail issue?
    Thanks.

I have 5 IMAP and 1 POP (Hotmail).
    The Yahoo is IMAP.

I have 2 hotmail accounts in my Mac Mail, when I send from one account the reply comes back to the other hotmail account, how can I stop this?

You should be able to open both accounts.
I believe Hotmail T&C may expect you to have only one account, but possibly multiple alliases.
You may have problems opening two separate hotmail accounts at once in Firefox. Try using a new private browsing window for the second one. With any look that will separate them enough for you to use both at once.
(With other account holders permission.) I sometimes open my own and another persons hotmail account by that method.

  • Mail makes way to much noise for just receiving mail sound

I have mail preferences set to alert me when new mail has arrived and have the other option that turns on all the mail sounds off.
Well for some reason when it is sending mail checking mail and there is no mail it make that got mail sound.
I opened up the mail preference file to see if I could see anyhing that might be corrupt. It has other mail sounds listed as no and receive mail sound as yes.
Anyone have an idea why mail just wants to make all this racket for every action it takes when it is only supposed to alert me with the received mail sound?

Leon, when the box in Preferences is unchecked, it is indeed not supposed to make the other sounds, works well on my mac.
Do you have any plugins installed that may interfere?
Alternatively, you may have something corrupt in your pref file. You can check this when you make a new user and add an account in Mail there. You may end up with a few mails in your new account under your new user name but you can forward those and pick them up again in your old account.
You can also make a new pref file:
Open Preferences from within the Mail program and note the exact settings for your email accounts.
    Quit Mail
    Trash the following file:
    your home directory / Library / Preferences / com.apple.mail.plist
    and empty the Trash
Restart Mail and re-install your account info.
