Mail application - Yahoo account

Hey there!
After having my iPod i went and purchased the update which is great apart from the mail application. This is because i have tried to use it with my Yahoo account which is fine for recieving mail but unfortunately i cant send any! When i try to do so it says:
*Cannot Send Mail*
The connection to the outgoing
server "(null)" failed.
I am really satisfied with the product otherwise and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem as i have and if there are any solutions to overcoming the problem!
Thanks in advance!
Plectrum Kid

What do you have set as the outgoing mail server for your yahoo account, on the ipod? Sounds like there is nothing set. Have you tried erasing the yahoo account completely from your ipod, then adding a new account, by using the yahoo preset.

  • Unable to open any e-mail in yahoo account...

Unable to open any e-mail in yahoo account or even use any drop-downs on the yahoo webpage.  The multi-color pin wheel just spins endlessly.  Only on the iMac desktop; our iMac laptop works fine and open yahoo e-mails.  I unchecked the 'safari reset: remove all website data' several days ago.  Ideas?

Problem solved. Safari "Help" suggested adding "/index.html" at the end of the webpage address. It worked! Now yahoo e-mails can be opened, deleted, etc. Hope this helps others with the similar glitch.

  • Mail with Yahoo account doesn't exit when shutdown or logout

    Hi,
I'm using OS X Mail with a Yahoo Imap Account (setup by Mail itself) on a new MB Air.
Reading, writing Mail works fine, but: when logging out or restarting the system, the mail program (in background, hidden display) does not quit. After some seconds I get a message from the system saying that I have to quit Mail (translated from german) manually for the system to restart.
This behavior does not occur always, but sporadically (each 3rd or 5th time).
If I display the 'Activity' window of Mail in this cases, I can see that there are 2 jobs waiting forever: 'empty the trash' and 'logoff imap server' (translated again). One of them (or both?) seems to be a problem for the Mail application causing the endless waiting.
All other Mail acounts (iCloud, Google) do not have this problem, only Yahoo. The Problem can also be reproduced on two other Macs with fresh created Yahoo Email acounts.
Sorry for my bad english. I hope someone has a solution/hint for my problem.
    Greets from Germany,
    Peter

  • "Cannot Get Mail" When Checking Mail on Yahoo Account after 1.1.2 update

I recently updated iPhone to 1.1.2 and now cannot get yahoo email. 1.1.1 worked fine. When I attempted to check for e-mail on iPhone it returns error "Cannot get mail: The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect." I have checked my username and password and I am positive that it is correct. I just logged onto the yahoo mail website with the same username and password that I entered into my iPhone. BTW, I have only alphas for a password and I also tried updating my password online and then modifying the iPhone to match. It authenicates the password when updating the account but will receives the same error above when attempting to update e-mail. I just have the standard yahoo account which shouldn't matter because it is the one that i used on 1.1.1. I have tried everything i can think of and just cant seem to get it to work so I'm hoping someone here can help me out. Thanks

I have a new iPhone with 1.1.2 and have this same problem. My Yahoo mail is set up correctly, and I can send mail from the mail client, which shows up when I check my 'sent' folder on yahoo using the browser interface from my computer.
I can't check mail - I get the "The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect. Since I can send email from the iphone, and then see what I sent on both my work email and in my 'sent' folder, it's not a user or pw setup problem.
I tried turning it off and on and that didn't do it. I have a free yahoo account, so I believe I have to use the Y! option.

  • IOS mail not picking up mail from yahoo account

    Hi guys,
few days ago i deleted some of my mail by accident, so i used yahoo's restoring email service to get my mail back.
after its restored all my mails are back, but on my iOS for some resason 'inbox' just not picking up any mails at all (old and new mails), all the other folders works just fine (e.g. sent, junk, trash and my persoanl folders).
I have tried to delete the yahoo account from iOS then reinstall it, still the same problem. but on my Mac's Mail everything is just fine.
I really dont know what do to next.
hope someone can help me out here,
    thanks in advance!
    ltrisotti
BTW my phone is iphone 5 and running on iOS7

Yahoo email hasn't been reliable for me.  I get a lot of errors when yahoo goes to put a copy of my sent email in to the sent folder.  I am using thunderbird with imap.
Does the wife have a paid account?  I do and I think it is required for downloading your email.
The email pop protocol hasn't changed much so I'd think 10.3 would still be ok.
    What to do?
    wait.
Try another mail reader. set to leave on server.  could try thunderbird with imap. not perfect.

  • Fetching e-mail from yahoo account

My iPhone 4 will not fetch new emails for my yahoo account. I have the settings to push for the account but I still have to open my mail in order to get new emails. Any ideas why this is happening??

If you used the Yahoo account preset to create the account which creates the account as an IMAP account with push access for received messages and you have push enabled for the account, if new messages are not received/downloaded until you access the Mail app, that is fetching. Fetching can be done automatically or manually which is separate from push access for received messages.
Yahoo has had on and off again problems with this since day one 3 years ago which was an entirely new protocol for Yahoo at the time.
Try turning push access off for received messages and set Fetch to automatically check the account every 15 or 30 minutes to see if there is any change with an automatic fetch setting.

  • Pulling folders in to Mail from Yahoo account

Hi. When I set up my Yahoo email account on my iPhone it pulled in all the folders I'd created and it allows me to file emails in to these folders from the handset. When I set up Mail on my iMac with the same Yahoo account it didn't do this which makes the Mail function pretty useless. The account is pulled in via POP and my OS is Snow Leopard. If anyone can help I'd be truly grateful!

It works on the iPhone because Yahoo have setup a special way of working with the iPhone called 'Push' email, it is the way you get your emails on the iPhone as soon as they arrive. This in effect means that on the iPhone Yahoo are offering an IMAP mail service. Unfortunately Yahoo do not offer an IMAP mail service for computers, they only offer POP email. This is not a failing of the computer, it is down to the service that Yahoo provide.

  • Does Mail support Yahoo Account ?

I have a Mac account, a POP account but am unable to set up my Yahoo account, as I keep getting an error message "Trying to log into the IMAP server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” has failed." even I have the correct username and password.
Could anyone let me know whether Yahoo! is supported at all with Mail ? And if yes, any helpful tips to configure the email account correctly or where to find the resource ?

Thanks Roger for the kind advice, this is much appreciated and now I know how to proceed.
I use a HTC Touch phone (great device by the way...) and can configure all my email accounts and synch without any problems whatsoever (a Mac email account, a POP email account and an IMAP Yahoo account) so probably Apple is still lagging a little bit behind Microsoft in certain crucial areas still.

  • Old mail in Yahoo account missing

It may be a Yahoo problem but ...
My Yahoo! account is many years old. For some reason it all screwed up last night. I deleted the account in MacMail and recreated it. All my old mail is not available!
AND the iMac/MacMail account will not connect but Webmail is fine.
Very confused! All help gratefully received!
    Hugh

It turns out that it was Yahoo! being too cautious and asking for a. Account Verification and b. a one-off password to re-enable the iMac Mail Account.
All the old mail I recovered via TC
I'm sorry to have wasted anyone's time ....
    Kind Regards
    Hugh

  • Partial download mail with Yahoo account

    Hi.
I have Mail 3.6 on Mac os 10.5.8 and 2 account: Gmail and Yahoo. Gmail works fine but Yahoo has downloaded only mail until 25/09/2008.
I deleted mail account in Mail e re-created but problem didn't resolve.
I have Powerbook G4 with Mac os 10.4.11 and Mail 2.6 works fine with both and I setup that mail on server doesn't delete.
    Have you any suggestions?
    thanks

I came across your post when trying to sort out the same problem - which I have now resolved. My account stopped downloading from yahoo server post 21 Aug 09. I moved the contents of the inbox to a temp folder and then removed and re-added my account. The server said there were 916 messages but only downloaded approx 80% up to 21 Aug 09. I then double clicked on the inbox and selected "Account Info" which listed all 916 on the server. At the top of the list there were 10 messages with "Sender unknown" and with received "Today". I removed them from the server and Mail dowloaded the missing e-mails. I hope this helps.

  • Un-synchronize ML Mail from Yahoo account?

Just got ML yesterday and i'd like my Mail app to behave the same as it did in SL. I'd like it to be set that I can delete emails on my Yahoo email page through my browser, but that they are then NOT also deleted on my ML Mail app.
In SL I could delete email on Yahoo, but they'd still remain on SL Mail.
How can I do this in ML Mail please?

I spent an hour on the phone with Yahoo Tech support yesterday (since I pay for it I figured I might as well try)..
Long story short -- they weren't much help.
Yahoo outsources their tech support and so it was hard to understand this guy to begin with.. but he kept giving me a song and dance about how "yahoo's servers were so very powerful" they can't be connected to multiple devices.
Meaning, you can't be logged in and checking your yahoo mail via a webpage, and via another device at the same time. It would put your yahoo mail account into "error state 5"...
I pay for yahoo specifically so I can use the iPhone and the Webmail at the same time.. You can't get the pop/smtp access without paying for it.. And now they are telling me that its not possible to do this?
I don't buy it.. His excuses really didn't make sense to me.. I don't understand why I can't be logged in via two different devices..

  • CANNOT SETUP MAIL WITH YAHOO ACCOUNT

I've tried over and over to try and setup my mail account on Mail and it always ends up saying that it it failed to login into the mail server "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com." I retyped all the account information and double-checked to make sure the user name and password was correct but the same thing happened. I don't have a Yahoo Plus account, just a regular one so I tried putting in "pop.mail.yahoo.com and once again, no juice. May I please get some help with this??

no one knew why i couldn't get my messages from the pop server at att/yahoo into my mail on my mac. there were no answered questions to the support topic why can i see mail activity....messages on the server, but not coming into the mail box? sending is fine, but for some reason, it suddenly stopped 3 days ago and for 3 days i searched for a fix. the only way i found this was a mail access error on the web mail thru att.yahoo where my messages showed up (they were also showing up on the i phone, not the mac)...had to verify the email....and while waiting, i found the att yahoo help page that cleared the whole problem
not removing files and putting them back in while opening and shutting mac....all the ports and ssls were checked and correct
apparently you have to clean your cache
    totally all att's fault
Web Mail - How do I clear my browser's cache?
It's true, a clogged cache can slow down and even stop your browser. Who wants that? Not us. Let's get to work clearing your cache. Which browser are you using? Instructions are included below for each of these:
Firefox 2.x for Windows or Mac
    1. For Windows or Mac, click Tools and select Clear Private Data.
    2. In the window that opens, select whichever items you'd like to clear. When you're done, click Clear Private Data Now.
    Safari 3 for Mac
    1. In the Safari menu, click Empty Cache. That's it!
    2. To also clear the History, click the History menu and click Clear History (at the bottom).

  • Mail App / Yahoo Account Issues

Getting an error "Login failed".  If I try to update my password or even delete the email account, I get a "401 Unauthorized" warning.
If I try to remove the account under Accounts & Sync, it won't let me and says I have to reset the phone.  (Yahoo email)
Anyone know how I can resolve this?

I have two suggestions and a tidbit of information.
First like the other poster suggested don't use the email app from the phone (stock) secondly go to the Google play store and get the Yahoo Mail App as a stand alone.
Now the tidbit of information. If you had reason to read the news paper in your city, or online Yahoo Mail has had a security breach in that many customers accounts were accessed. They have sent out warning emails to users to have you change your password to Uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols to secure the accounts. A real hassle I know.
That could be part of the problem keeping the email account from messing up.
    Good Luck

  • Error message whilst trying to get mail from yahoo account

I have been trying tu setup my yahoo acct buy I simply cant. .mac works fine, but i cant seem to connect to yahoo. an error message appears that says "The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect." can someone translate this to english?

It means what is says. The server that you are trying to connect to - the one with your email - says that either your user name or password is incorrect.
If you have double check then it is probably a server issue. You'd need to talk to Yahoo about it.
