Mail arbitrarily changes sender or recipient names!!!

I have realized that Mail 4.0 changes sender and/or recipient names on a lot of my emails under SL: if I check the actual email address it is the correct, intended one, but the associated name is taken randomly from address book!!!
I was wondering if anyone has been experiencing similar issues.

Ok, even more info: My actual Address Book is perfectly fine. But if I hit the "Address" button in Mail.app, thats when I get the corrupt/mismatched list of e-mail addresses. This is strange as I would think this list would pull from the same place the actual Address Book application pulls from. Perhaps there is some sort of cache that can be reset or something? Clearing "Previous Recipients" did not work.

Hi everyone!
I've been looking for a solution but had no luck so far.
Here's the issue:
In Mail, the sender email address or the recipient name would sometimes be displayed twice between chevrons.
For example, sometimes in my sent folder, in the "To" column, the recipient name is displayed twice like this <[email protected]> <[email protected]> whereas it used to be displayed once and without chevrons. This happened since i have reinstalled Snow Leopard (clean install).

Changing Sender's Display Name?

Hey everyone,
I've been looking around for an answer to this, but I haven't had any luck. I am wanting to change the display name of a sender's email to match that sender's details in my address book. I know that the sender's display name is something that is set by that sender, but is there an Applescript or a plugin that will help me here?!
For example, some of my emails contain sender's names as UPPERCASE, lowercase, as email addresses, or as a nickname that they have set. I want to make Mac Mail recognise the email address of the sender, match that email address with the appropriate person in my address book, then apply to that email the sender's name as it appears in my address book.
As far as I am aware this is not possible in Mac Mail and is a major shortcoming considering that other mail applications are able to do this.

How to clear defunct mail address when typing in recipient name in Mail

Just to keep this simple:
I have a client that I email regularly, yesterday he changed his mail address, the old one is no longer valid and is completely out of use.
I replaced the old one with the new one in Address Book, but now when I type the person's name in the To field in Mail, the old one still comes up in a list of suggestions made by Mail. How do I clear these suggestions?

My husband and I both use our one alias iCloud mail accounts. Both the alias and the main account were created in my name (not his) and yet his name appears as the sender and recipient on messages sent and received through the alias. Are you asking about the full name associated with the email address?
For your iCloud Mail you can change the full name for your mail account at https://www.icloud.com/
Click the Mail.app icon, and in the Mail panel click the "Gears" icon in the lower left corner of the panel to open the Preferences. In the "accounts" panel select your account and change the "full Name" for your Mail account.

The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

Even when I use the "ask personal questions" option to verify and it asks me for my date of birth, I put it in and it still won't acccept.

My Sent mail box on my hard drive shows my name rather than the recipient name. How do I change the settings to view the recipient name rather than mine (which is on all of them, of course)?

Why does Apple Mail preview pane display only sender's first name?

Some, but not all, of the mail I receive shows only the sender's first name in the preview pane. I've checked the three areas others have mentioned as possible sources of the problem: 1.) Both first and last names appear for these senders in my Contacts. 2.) None of these senders appear with only first names in my Previous Recipients list. 3.) The full headers don't show first name only.
When I used Entourage, emails from the same senders never showed only first names in the preview pane.
Is this a bug in Apple Mail? Is there a workaround?

I came here looking for a similar answer. Some of my HTML messages show up just fine in Mail 3.5. Others, I get the plane text alternative or a bunch of raw HTML. With no answer in sight on the Discussion groups, I decided to look at the raw mail message of one of the offending emails.
Under the View menu I found a sub menu called Message then there are 6 choices beneath that:
*Long Headers*
*Raw Source* (which is what I was looking for)
+(and then below a separator I found a surprise!)+
*Plain Text Alternative* (grayed out)
*Previous Alternative* (grayed out)
*Next Alternative* (available)
*Best Alternative* (available)
Only the appropriate ones for the current message display format are available.
So low and behold selecting "next" or "best" changed my message into fully readable HTML format with pictures, formatting, etc.
I am assuming that something in the way that the multipart MIME message is assembled by some senders' systems does not sit well with Mail. I'm not going to bother figuring it out, but I'm sure that close examination of the raw message would give some clues.
Now if only I could figure out how to choose the message format based on the sender, I could eliminate having to change every message that comes in from that sender. Maybe AppleScript and a Mail Rule?

Email was working fine. Now not working even though nothing changed. Deleted acct turned off iPad turned on and added account again. Can receive mail but not send. Sometimes says relay not allowed sometimes different message.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if you can then send emails

Mail has changed my outgoing name...

I'm not sure exactly when this started, but Mail has started sending my emails out using my title (e.g. Mr) in the from address as well as the recipient's addresses, where the title is specified in the addressbook, which is a bit too formal for my liking.
Previously, it just used first name and last name.
Why is this? Do I really have to go through Address Book and delete all the titles?

Maybe you can try this...
You can choose which account Mail uses to send messages. Maybe you have multiple mail accounts?
Go to Mail > Preferences > Composing.
Then in Addressing: Send new mail from: Select the account you want to use.
Of course, make sure that your Full Name in your Account Information does not contain Mr.!
As for the recipients names, I'm not sure but look in Mail >Window > Previous Recipients, maybe your problem is there? You can delete them if they have the Title attached to the name.
Do you use Smart Addresses?
From Mail Help:
"To use Smart Addresses when composing messages and viewing an inbox, choose Mail > Preferences, click Viewing, and then select the Use Smart Addresses checkbox. By default, only the recipient's name or email address is shown in a Smart Address. You can drag Smart Addresses between the To, Cc, Bcc, or Reply To fields when composing a message."
Maybe that will work?

It sounds like you want to update the Apple stores and services that you've used with your previous Apple ID name with your secondary Apple ID. Check out the steps in this link to make sure that each store or service is using your current, desired Apple ID:
