Mail archive will not stop, despite deletion of the rule

I use the mail program in OS X 10.9.2 (and I just updated to 10.9.4) to connect to an exchange account. I recently made the mistake of creating a rule under Mail > Preferences > Rules to send old files to archive. I didn't fully understand what I was doing (downloading all files older than 180 days to my macbook pro). I didn't like that, so I deleted the rule. However, the archive folder will not die. I trash all of the e-mails in the archive folder and they just populate with thousands of old messages. How can I make this stupid "rule" die? Get rid of the archive folder or at least make it stop archiving all old messages to my computer? Thanks!

You can try restoring the device or just try the Gmail app. For Gmail, I think it's far better than the built-in Mail app.

How do I configure the AX to connect to the hub's wireless network? It will only scan one base station Airport Express at a time in the Airport Utility. I think what I am trying to do is use the hub as a router to the two AX's. Is there a specific way to set this up?
To set up the AX to join a wireless network as a "Wireless Client," using the AirPort Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
Launch the AirPort Utility.
Select the AX.
If not already connected to the AX's wireless network, go ahead and switch to it when prompted.
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Network Name: <type in the network name/SSID of the wireless network that you want to join or select it from the pop-up menu>
Wireless Security: None OR, if you are using security on your wireless network:
Wireless Security: <Select the appropriate level of security for the existing wireless network: WPA/WPA2 Personal | WPA2 Personal>

Apple Mail links will not open in Firefox. The address bar and page are blank.

I have just upgraded Firefox to version 4.0 and when I receive an email with a link in it, the link will not work. Firefox will load but the page is blank and the web address bar will sometimes show the link and sometimes not. If I cut and paste the address from the email it will not work.

In mail.app preferences there is a setting for RSS that lets one choose which program is the default RSS reader. Whichever program is set to be the default RSS reader is used by mail.app to open any urls in mail messages.
I really like my Mac but this is the most un-userfriendly, un-"it just works" thing I've run across in the 23 years I've been using Macintosh...

My mail app will not stop crashing

Alright so this has been going on for several months. My mail app kept crashing as soon as I opened it, so I deleted all of my mail accounts. I went back to the app and tried to re-enter my information, but as soon as I type in all of my log in informaton and press "continue," the app crashes over and over again. So I went to Settings and tried to enter my information there, but as soon as I had typed it and pressed "continue," once again it would not work. Does anyone know how t fix this? It's really getting on my nerves.
All of my email accounts are Gmail, if that matters.

Lightroom 4.4 will not open despite deleting .lock file

I have deleted the .lock files already but am still getting "light room cannot be opened because another application has it opened" Help!! I read on the forum to delete the .lock file but nothing seems to be working.

Have you used your system search feature to search your computer for such files. I know from past experience that it's easy to overlook files if you are trying to do it manually. It seems to me that there has to be one in the folder with your main catalog that you have been using. Do you know the location of that catalog?

Firefox will not load despite following all the advice on the support website

I loaded an update from Freemaker Video Converter and now I cannot open Firefox. I have tried reinstalling (copied my profile to the Desktop), unfortunately System Restore has an error, tried reloading an older version, ensured Firefox is approved in the Firewall, tried opening the Profile Manager and it gives the "I'm sorry" error message (sent feedback). I have attempted to edit the registry, but only deleted the obvious entries. When I click on Firefox Windows thinks about it (circle with the mouse) then nothing, doesn't start a process. I have gone through all the support documentation and have run out of options.
Any thoughts?

If your computer is not freezing when you are referring to a white circle, there may be an issue with the touch screen software installed on your computer. To correct this, I suggest re-installing all of the original software and hardware drivers that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8), and then update the software by Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8). If the white cursor will not stop blinking after performing the steps in the documents above, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point to before the issue occurred. Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. Premiere Pro CC will not stop rendering

In the past 2 weeks, PP will not stop rendering frames on the timeline. As the "frames rendering" amount increases, so does the frames to be rendered. It never ends and when I cancel the render, nothing has even rendered.
Any ideas?

I have been editing in AVC - Intra 100 1080i and when rendering the sequence it does not stop. It will say "Rendering frame YYY of XXX." However, "XXX" quantity keeps growing and the whole process does not end. Additionally, the "Green Line" does not appear nor does the playback improve after extensive rendering.
After reading the above comments, I created another sequence in HDV 1080P and it seems to be working fine although the "Time Remaining" is a lie.
Is there a preferred quality/format for editing? I typically will include various formats and still photography in my sequences.
Additionally, I have not found a way to change the preview file format as it is grayed out and un-selectable in the Sequence Settings dialogue box. How do I change it and what would be the preferred setting for laptop editing?

Mail *still* will not Hide at Login... Why!?

Apfle seems to ignore most of it's own rules:
After years and years, Apple Mail still will not Hide upon login when the Hide-Box is check in User Accounts startup items.
Is there a way to get it to hide, like other Apple applications?
And WHY does Apfle refuse to let us hide this app?

Mail will not stop fetching

I have 3 accounts set up in my Mail app. Two with Charter and the other is my work POP account. My work POP account will not stop fetching. Mail will not allow me to quit the program other than with a force quit. Is there a way to trash Mail preferences with out deleting the accounts? I have ran Disk Utility and used Cocktail to clean the cache files but it still hangs up.
I also got the new iPhone this weekend and unlike with my BlackBerry, if Mail is not working correctly on my laptop, then no mail is sent to my iPhone? I really don't understand that but I'm trying to address the first problem first then I tackle that issue.

Okay, I figured it out. The port number had gotten changed? I logged in to my work station to check the settings and they were different. Odd. I didn't change anything. I really don't monkey around with my computer much. However, we did update mail servers at my work and remember about 3 weeks ago it asked me something about the certificate so I wonder if my response made some sort of change. Oh well, live and learn. Now figure out my iPhone!

Click on the apple in the top left corner of the computer. If it doesn't let you, open another application such as finder, and then click it, then go down the force quit, then click mail and then press force quit.

ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them. Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password. Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.
