Mail attachments not received

I use the Mail app to send email from a variety of email accounts. Recently, I have not been able to send MS-Word attachments to a MS-Windows user. On my end, the messages shows up has having been sent complete with attachments, but the Windows receiver of my email only receives the email message with attachments missing. I have been having this problem with all of my accounts using Mail. Any ideas?

Send the message in Plain Text to those using Outlook -- has nothing to do with file type, but only the formatting of the message text.  Try one you have sent previously -- open it in the Sent mailbox, click on Message/Send Again followed by Format/Make Plain Text.
Outlook and Outlook Express mess up Rich Text from other email clients, and ever from each other.

  • AIM mail suddenly not received by mac mail

    Hi-
I have been using my new AIM account on my Mac Mail for about 6 months now with few problems.
The other day Mail decided to not send out any of my AIM mail although it was able to receive them. This lasted for a day and a half and then corrected itself.
Last night Mail is not receiving any of the AIM mail, although it is able to send it out (although VERY slowly). It is still trying to receive mail but cannot as of this morning.
I have checked the Mail settings and they seem fine. Mail is still able to be sent and received without a problem on the AIM mail site.
How can I see if the problem is with Mail, AIM, or even just me?
    Thanks!

I discovered the problem. I had tried to send some photos that made a very large file. Mail tried and tried to send it but I finally stopped it. In the meantime it had copied the 44.1 M email 260 times! I deleted and emptied the trash and now all is well!

  • Mail will not receive any messages

As of 9:30 Thursday morning, Mail will not receive any messages. I can still compose and send but incoming messages just sit on Google's server (where I've been reading and replying). Nothing was changed, Connection Doctor shows everything to be fine, I've checked and reentered passwords, quit Mail, restarted the computer, etc.
    Suggestions?

I tried that again, including another shut-down, and based on another link, changingthe"check for new mail" preference from "automatically" to "every 5 minutes."
    No change.

  • My mail will not receive mail

My mail will not receive mail. It seems the last mail I had was 24th Dec but I have got the mail on my ipad and iphone ok. If I connect via safari I can get mail ok. I tried deleting old mail, no change.

    Not so fast ;-)
How many email accounts are you using with Mail.app?
In the left-hand panel of the Mail window, under "Mailboxes", you can see (beneath other things) the inbox(es) of your account(s). Is there some sort of sign/logo displayed to the right of their names? Is it possibel that you have taken it/them offline by accident?

  • TS3276 Mail is not receiving messages on my iMac.

Mail is not receiving messages on my iMac. I can send messages but not receive. My MacBook Pro receives OK. What can be the matter?

I sorted this out in the end by playing around with Connection Doctor

  • Attachments not received in Mail app

I received a couple of email where the attachment is not received in the Mail app.  It doesn't show up anywhere. The attachment is received on my iPad, iPhone, and iPod with no problems.  Also, I have another message where the html images are not displayed on the mail app, but show up properly on my other devices.  I have the preference "display remote images in HTML messages" checked and I'm connected to the interent.
I'm using IMAP with my gmail account.  Ironically, both messages are from Apple, one has a receipt in it.  I've downloaded the receipt directly from gmail, but I'm worried that I'm going to miss something else if I don't fix this problem.
    Thanks for your help.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Mail attachments not saving to the folder I choose

My mail attachments are not saving to the folder I choose.  When I select a file to save in the mail drop-down box, I am given options to save to a folder of my choice.  However, when I select save the document is actually saved deep in some Mail Downloads area, not in my chosen folder.  Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?

What kind of files are you trying to attach?
Is it all recipients having this problem or specific one(s)?
Could you possibly post a screenshot of the sent message from your side and a screenshot of what the recipient sees?
What happens if you send one of these messages to yourself?

  • Iphone mail app not receiving e-mail from 1 sender

The Mail app on my iPhone 6/iOS 8.3 is not receiving e-mail from one sender sent to my Outlook e-mail account. This sender's e-mail address is "[email protected]". It is a notification of digital magazines available from Zinio. I know the mail app is not receiving the e-mail because Outlook 2013 on my desktop and Outlook.com do receive these e-mails. How can I get the mail app on my iPhone to receive these e-mails from this address?

Initially it sounds like something with your backup data caused the issue with your new device but if you restored your device again without using the backup and the issue still exists it wouldn't appear to be the issue at all. Since the problem seems to only be with one person are you sure it's not an issue on their end and with their network that is stopping you from receiving the messages? Have you tried *228 option 2 to see if that helps?

  • Is there any way to configure Mail to send mail only, not receive?

I am very new to the world of Apple. I currently use Yahoo and I want to keep using Yahoo for my main email program, but I want to take advantage of the neat features on Mail (i.e. stationary, sending pictures, etc.). I don't want to keep any of my messages on the hard drive of my computer, and when I have tried setting up Mail, the messages are downloaded. So, I would like to know if it is possible to set Mail up so that I can only send, and not receive mail.
I do use Yahoo, and it seems like there are some tricky things about using Yahoo and Mail, so I want to keep that in mind. Thanks!

    Hi,
In MAIL -> PREFERENCES -> GENERAL
For each account under the ADVANCED tab, UNCHECK the "Include when automatically checking for new mail."
This will stop the program from getting your mail.

  • Mail Will Not Receive After 10.6.2 Update

I just updated to 10.6.2 and now my mail program will not receive any incoming emails. I seem to be able to send however. I'm sorry for another one of these "me too" postings about the mail program not working post update but I'm hoping Apple will see the number of postings regarding this issue and correct the problem.

Ever since I updated to 10.6.2, I have had intermittent problems with sending, forwarding, and replying to emails from both my yahoo and mobileme accounts. I hit send and get the rotating rainbow and end up having to force quit. And now today, it's not downloading any mobileme messages. They are showing up on my iphone but not the iMac.

    Hello,
Do you mean when you send message to [email protected], the mail not show in inbox or other means?
    Please follow the ExchangeITPro's suggestion.
Besides, please check the primary SMTP address is

  • One account in .Mac mail will not receive mail?

I've tried sending to my other .Mac accounts and this is normal. My primary .Mac mail account will not receive mail. My E-Bay mail and other mail is not reaching this one primary account. Any suggestions?
867 Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   My primary account is storing 1412 mail messages

The .Mac servers for your area may be having problems this morning.
I'm using Mail 2.0.5 but checking the .mac server
directly takes mail out of the loop.
Not true. For a .Mac type account, it will mark a message as read only in the Mail.app when the mailbox is synchronized with the server after messages are checked and read at the server using webmail access and if changed to a POP type account in Mail, any message that is available at the server will be downloaded by the Mail.app even after messages are read using webmail access.
    Is mail storage calculated separately?
It is now. You can adjust - lower or raise the amount of server storage space alloted for the account.
