Mail automatically open in MobileMe inbox

Every time I open the Mail app, it automatically opens in the MobileMe inbox. I've set my Gmail account to the default email account but this hasn't changed the Mail app's behaviour. Any fixes available?

No search function for eMails after 16 months of existence. You can try asking for it on the suggestion links, but I wouldn't expect anything to happen now or in the future. After 16 months, you would think Apple would have provided this by now. No wonder corporate users laugh at the device for Enterprise use. No search for emails, is a huge failure.
Using your web browser on the iPhone to search mail is even worse as a workaround. There is no 3rd party app ( you have to probably buy ) that can give us this feature. I've tried searching the App store and found none.

  • Why can't mail automatically go back to inbox if marked "not junk"??

I hope someone who has the power to change this annoying feature reads this post.
In Apple Mail Inbox - if I mark an e-mail as junk, it is automatically moved to the Junk folder. But if I select an e-mail in the Junk mail folder, and I click it to be "not junk", it just changes the color of the text, but the e-mail remains in the Junk mail folder. Why can't it then automatically be moved to the normal inbox?? Certainly not too much to ask - in fact, I think this should be a logical expectation from the vast majority of users.
Please Apple - this is poor programming and needs to be fixed!

    Hi -
Hmm, mine used to do this a few days ago, but doesn't now . . . ??
The only think I've done is to change the rules.
My settings are to look for an address in my address book or previous
recipients - if not, send to trash. In another discussion, this apparently
doesn't work all the time, and nobody knows why.
When I open the trash and find lots of messages that shouldn't be there,
clicking on "Not Junk" just keeps in trash.
    Sigh . . .

  • Will any mail apps open to the inbox by default?

I have been using computers for decades...and have had my iPhone for a few years now. It was only a few days ago that I got my first iPad and was surprised by the "feature" that all of the mail apps seem offer...
I am talking about opening the app to the last email you were looking at. I tried a few different apps and they all seem to offer the same thing.
Why does it seem to be an iPad thing to make you go to your inbox instead of having it be the first thing you see?
Can anyone direct me to an app for the iPad that when I open it, I will see my inbox?
Maybe it's just me but I don't want the contents of an email being displayed on my screen until I choose...who knows who will be looking over my shoulder when the app is opened.
Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.
    Scott

This answer does not help me at all.
It does not address my initial question...not even a little bit.
Me mentioning someone looking over my shoulder was just an example.
The point is, I want an app that opens by default directly to the inbox.
If you have anything useful to contribute, please do.

  • Mail automatically opening.

I don't like my mail being automatically displayed on my computer. I leave my computer on, rarely shut it down and don;t require a password. Other family members can use it at will. Although I don't have any secrets, I would rather mail is displayed when I click on the icon. It  is automatically displayed for all to view when I wake it up.

Yes, I know anyone could access my mail, but I don't need it automatically displayed without having to open mail. This happens on my desktop only. If I want to read mail on my laptop, my I-Pad, or my I-Phone, I have to open mail with the icon. My desktop automatically displays it. I have to X out of mail to do anything else. If you know a way I can stop this, I would appreciate it.
Close Mail before the Mac sleeps, if you leave it open it will stay that way.
X'ing out DOES NOT close mail, you need to quit it yourself.

  • Mail application opens to default inbox

When I open the mail applicaiton, ratehr than opening up to the main screen where all my inboxes and accounts reside, the app opens to my default account inbox.  If it does open up to the main mail screen, the mail app crashes right away.
I was hoping that the recent update would correct the problem, but it did not.  I have tried a reset, but not a restore. I'd like to avoid that, but if that is the only way to go, I'll give it a try.
    Thanks.

Exact same problem here. iPhone 4S with ios5. Always opens to top email accoutn in list, not default account, and not "All Inboxes" which would be preferred. Have seen a few suggestions but no solutions. Anyone?

  • Why doesn't mail automatically open up when Im trying to share a doc?

I used to be able to press share, change my doc to a PDF and it would automatically be placed into a mail ready to address and send.  Now all of a sudden it won't open up in mail.

I have the same problem. I have not seen any effort by the Apple to fix this Its a very big Flaw. I think they are happy with it.

  • HT5361 new message in mail- it opens BEHIND the inbox

Something just changed on my Mac - now when I open a new mail message it it positioned BEHIND the inbox and I cannot read it.  How do i make it so it pops up IN FRONT OF the inbox?  (that is the way it has always worked - I don't know what changed.)

Would you post a screen shot of a message so people can see what you are seeing? Make sure you cover any personal information using Preview. Post the screen shot in a Reply using the camera icon. Copy and paste doesn't work.

  • Mail automatically opens a new compose window after sending mail

Just recently, my Mail program has started opening a new compose window after I send an email. It's accompanied by the "you did something wrong" tone that my computer makes if you (for instance) hit some incorrect combination of keys. I've tried to fix this in preferences, but I don't see any item that controls this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as this is a waste of time to have to cancel out of the unwanted new compose message, and confirm that, indeed, I want to cancel and not save it.
    Thanks!

  • Stop automatically opening next mail

Is there a way to stop Mail from opening the next message? I often want to leave a message unread. But if I delete a read message, Mail automatically opens the next in line. Is there a way that I can manually decide which ones to open and NOT have this automatic feature? I've examine the preferences and cannot find any indication there.

the only way to do that is to collapse the message viewing window completely.
That will mean that you'll have to double-click on a message to view it but it will keep it unread untill then.

  • I don't want "Mail" to open when I respond to website, instead I want Earthlink mail to send the response

Hi, newbie here.  I do not use Apple "Mail" (nor do I want to).  Problem: in websites I respond/click to respond and "Mail" automatically opens up.  How do I configure the MacBook Pro 10.7 to not go to the default of "Mail?"  I have looked at mail preferences and it gives me the option of "mail" in the general section or choose; when I hit choose I get my apps etc and do not see how I would indicate to use my earthlink email or charter email as defaults.  Any suggestions?

You can't select Web Based email for this purpose. You have to chose a email prgram on your computer.
What you would need to do is copy the email address and then go to youe Web Based email and send from that.

  • When I click on my mail account it automatically opens a a message.  How do I set it to display my inbox?

Help!  When I open my mail account it automatically opens to a message(often an old one) instead of displaying my inbox with a list of 10 or 25 recent messages.  I have clicked that option in the settings.  How do I change this?

Quit the mail app then reset your iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
Also, when looking at the list of your emails that have already been delivered tap and pull down on that list then let go. This asked the Mail app to check again.

  • TS2755 Messages disappear in inbox.  When I close out messenger entirely and reopen it, they appear.  Also, if I only have one message unread in my inbox and I open up my messenger it automatically opens the unread message.  Very frustrating....Please hel

I have an iphone 4s, OS 4.1.1.  I am having issues with my messenger.  When I have a message open I will see a new text come through and then it disappears.  I have to close out of my messenger entirely and reopen it.  Once I reopen the message the text reappears.  Any suggestions?  Also, if I get a new message and there is only one unopened message in my inbox and I open my messenger it automatically opens that message.  Any way to fix this so that I decide when I want to open a certain message?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Jen

There are several possible reasons that messages seem to 'disappear'.
There are two types of email accounts: IMAP and POP. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts
If you have a POP account and are accessing the mail on more than one computer or smartphone, whichever device reads (downloads) the message first will have it locally, but it will no longer be listed or available on the other devices.
If you have an IMAP account, the message stays on the server, but if one device (user) moves or deletes the message, it will affect the view on all devices. So, for example, if you are using your smartphone and take some action on an email, when you get back to your computer, it will reflect that same action (but you might not have realized what caused it).
Sometimes the index of a mail folder (.msf) will get corrupted. If you right click on the name of the folder and select Properties, a 'Folder Properties' window will open. Select 'Repair Folder'. This may take care of the problem.
Another, less likely, reason for messages not to show up in your inbox is having the preference set to show only unread or recent messages. Then once you read them they seem to disappear.
If you are still having problems, please look at the following items and respond with the information.
    1) What operating system do you use (Win8, MAC, Linux, etc)?
    2) Are you using IMAP or POP?
    3) If your mail server has a browser interface (web mail access such as mail.google.com), do the messages show up there?
    4) Right click on the folder in question and select Properties.
    a) Number of messages?
    b) Size on disk?
    5) Left click on the account name; View settings for this account; highlight Server settings;
What choices are marked under "When I delete a message"?
    6) What, if any, antivirus program do you have installed?

As you are on a residential service you have to wait for engineer availability priority is given to Business users as they get a different service level agreement also using a residential line for business use can leave you open for suspension or cancellation of service as it breach's the terms and conditions
