Mail Behavior has changed!

I do not know which button i pressed while using mail ... now when i start mail i have no preview of mails! I have top double click on every email to read it!
Can someone please help me!
Thanks

At the bottom of the mail list there should be a bar with a wee dot in the middle of it. You should be able to drag it upwards to reveal the preview pane.

Is that behavior has changed along ios8 ? Or still you need to launch mail app to update unread emails ?

I've found out that this is by design.
Email Application offer push-notification, but read action is not populated to the Cloud.
So Mail app needed to be opened manually each time you want to refresh it status ...
That is not a good information...
As far as I remember, google had that work quite long ago properly (of course on iOS and inside Mail.app)

  • HT204053 My e-mail address has changed.  How do I update the Apple ID that is showing for my iCloud?

My e-mail address that was used for my Apple ID has changed.  I have changed my Apple ID to my new e-mail address, but how do I go about changing my iCloud to my new Apple ID?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • Mail format has changed...

I checked my e-mail before I went to bed last night and all was well... This morning I can receive and send e-mails, but the format of every message has changed! Lines of text are perhaps a dozen spaces apart, rather than single or double spaced. I restarted and then rebuilt the mailbox, but it persists.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    C.

    Charles,
Not sure this is the cause, but see:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4923736&#4923736
Not sure if I have seen this cited for Leopard and Mail 3.x, but would expect things to be similar.
You should check for the continued presence of the Helvetica.dfont, but since that is necessary for good operation of Safari and some other apps, it is probably not the issue here.
Btw, is the Photoshop CS4 or the entire Creative Suite?

  • Incoming mail server has changed, but greyed out in Mail, can't be corrected

The incoming mail server for my website's email account has changed, but the incoming server box is greyed out and doesn't allow me to change it to the correct one.  I do not want to delete the account and start again because all mail and contacts associated with the account will be lost.  So far all the suggestions regarding greyed out incoming server boxes have to do with iCloud but while i use iCloud, I don't use it for mail or have an @iCloud email address.  They also involve starting from scratch with Mail, which would be a huge problem for me trying to save all my emails and reconstruct my mailboxes.
What gives with this issue? a lot of people seemed to have it, though I saw no responses later than 2012.  Unlike other people, I can still get my mail, but the server certificate always comes up invalid.  I can tell Mail to trust it, but This greyed out thing is certainly a bug or unintended consequence.  I want to be able to change that field.

Sorry, Guess I solved my own problem anyway.  Perhaps this will help others.  I unchecked "automatically detects and maintain account settings", closed and saved the mail preferences window ( I had also updated my outgoing server info which was not greyed out )  I closed Mail and when I reopened it, the incoming server was no longer greyed out and I could change it which I did.  I may recheck the auto detect box once I have ensured that the port settings are all correct.

  • JDK1.5 table selection behavior has changed

The default extended selection policy of JTables has changed from version 1.4.2 to 1.5.
In 1.4.2, a user can hold down the Ctrl key and drag out a multi-row selection. The user can then hold down the Ctrl key again and drag out a second multi-row selection which leaves the first multi-row selection intact. The end result was 2 discontiguous multi-row selections.
Now in 1.5, the process of making the second multi-row selection clears out the first. Basically any Ctrl+Drag gesture is clearing out any existing selections. This is dangerous since a user that wants to Ctrl+Click several discontiguous rows may slightly move the mouse on each click. This will be interpreted as a Ctrl+Drag and cause all existing selection to be cleared.

I don't remember being able to do that in 1.4.2_04 without some special code. Well, at least not for a JList, never tried on a JTable. Anyway, you should make a bug for it if it's not alreay there.

  • Need to remove the Shutdown option in Windows 8 since WOL behavior has changed

For those you who manage systems in an enterprise, you need to read the following article and test it out yourself before you respond.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2776718
This subject of removing just the shutdown option has been floating around for many...many years without any solutions but now with Windows 8 and it's new WOL behavior, we may need to find one since it may be impossible for System Administrators who manage
systems in the enterprise with tools like SMS/SCCM, will be unable to wake up the system if the end user shuts it down. There are all kinds of Group Policies, Tweak UI settings and reg hacks that have been discussed over the years but none of them are currently able
to remove just the shutdown option. Interesting enough, you can change the behavior of the power button to put the system to sleep or hibernate but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the same functionality with the Shutdown option
in the OS. Ideally, I am looking for a way to show only the Hibernate, the Restart and the Logoff option. Currently I can configure the system to show those three along with the Shutdown.

I ran into this too, but I found the solution, at least for my pc:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000]
    "PnPCapabilities"=dword:00000108
where the '\0000' could be another value, see in regedit.exe.
The reason this works is, in windows 7, the 2 checkmarks in the "Power Management"-tab of the Ethernet-controller's properties ('allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and 'allow this device to wake the computer') were independent.
In windows 8 those 2 settings are dependent, meaning if you UNcheck 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power', you can not check 'allow this device to wake the computer'.
The DWORD_value in the registry has the following values:
0x118 = all checkmarks off (yes really)
0x010 = 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'
0x000 = 'allow the computer ...' + 'allow this device to wake the computer'
0x100 = all 3 checkmarks, the former 2 and 'Only allow a magic packet to wake this computer'
While I can not find the true logic in these value, value 0x108, has the required effect.
In the GUI, ( the "Power Management"-tab of the Ethernet-controller's properties) it still looks as if 'allow the computer...' is on, so do not change anything there.
    Good luck!

  • My full name for my e-mail address has changed

I'm not sure if this has happened after updated to Yosemite, but then I noticed a change of my full name for my gmail.com e-mail address. I attached a pic for better understanding what I mean.  I already checked my full name in my gmail account in the "Mail->Preferences->Accounts" but there was nothing wrong, my full name was shown correctly. Has anyone an idea what has happened? Do I need to contact gmail for this problem?

  • Grid behavior has changed from version 11.5 and 12.1

We are upgrading from 11.5 to 12.1 and notice a problem in some of our reports displaying the Grids. With the Grid Type as Embedded Lights, the light displays as a black circle when there is no value for the column. How do you change this behavior? As a work around we used Lights as the Grid Type; but the column had no heading. Is there a way to assign a heading to the column?

What service pack of MII 12.1 are you using?  There were some issues with updating display templates in early versions which have since been fixed for the lights.

  • TrackPad Behavior Has Changed

Something strange has happened recently and I can't pinpoint when it started happening.
    Here's the issue...
In a web browser (Safari, Firefox, etc.) in the past, if I held the trackpad button down for 3-5 seconds, it accomplished the same thing at a CTRL-Click - it brought up the option window.
This feature is no longer working - I miss it. How do I get it back?
Furthermore, another issue related to web browsers (Safari, Firefox, etc.) - it seems that web sites with automatic downloads are not being processed correctly anymore.
Instead of opening the download window and downloading the app, the apps are opening in the URL field (ie: http://www.foobar.com/download.dmg) and nothing happens - downloads do not begin.
Since both my issues are related to web browsers - I am wondering if they might be related?
    Any thoughts? Suggestions?
    Thanks!

I've gotten used to CTRL-clicking or right clicking when I have a 2-button mouse handy.

  • My e-mail address has changed and i-tunes still recognizes me by the old one. I can't get authorization to move songs from one computer to the next.

When I first got started with Mac, I had a different e-mail address. I have a new e-dress and new passwords, but much of what I bought was with that old e-dress. Now, I'm trying to migrate my i-tunes library to a new computer, and I can't get authorized to move or play songs on the new computer.
Does anyone know what to do? (A once and for all reset of Apple username and password).....
    Thnx

Have the tracks become unchecked? iTunes will skip unchecked tracks, so if they're all unchecked, iTunes will play one and then stop. If this is indeed the case, re-checkmark the tracks - Command-click on any checkbox will select or unselect them all - and you should then have continuous playback.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mail behaviors have changed

This is really strange....at least to me. Some background: I was on a 2008 MacBook Pro running the latest version of Lion until Christmas. I use Mail and have several email accounts, mostly to separate my personal, commercial (shopping!), and Yahoo Groups emails. Two of them are gmail accounts and the others are on cox.net.
After Christmas, I transferred everything to my new MacBook Pro with Retina Display and Mountain Lion. Now my mailboxes are acting crazy and I don't know how to fix them.
    1. If I reply to a message, it shows up in my Inbox; when I delete it, I also have to delete copies of it in Sent mail and one listed under the email account.
    2. When I get a new message, any old, deleted message that is remotely related also shows up in my mailbox.
    3. I have Mail set to use the email address that the message came in on as my reply address, but sometimes my reply will try to use my me.com (Cloud?) email address.
    4. I sometimes receive 4 copies of the same email, designated Important, "email account", groups, etc.
    Can anyone explain this?
As an aside, I did have an appointment with a Genius, but have lost some confidence with my local Apple Genius Bar after discovering that the Genius I was working with on another problem didn't even know that an initial backup on a new computer with a new OS would take more than 2-3 hours!
    Any help is appreciated!

    Try...
In Mail go to the 'Window' drop down at the top of the screen. Choose 'Previous Recipients'. Delete the old address.
Can't guarantee it will work, but worth a try.
You may also find if you type the first 3 or 4 letters of the NEW address in the 'To' line other address associated with those letters will be shown (listed). Chose the new address from that list by clicking on it.

  • Mail screen has changed. no list of incoming etc

I opened my mail, but the screen just says welcome to thunderbird etc. I am used to seeing my inbox and files over to the left side. How do I get this to come up? I can not find how to get it.

Well, I will definitely try this next time it happens! I really can not try for now as I went to internet provider, removed e-mails going back to February, and when I went back to firefox, I had the option of seeing my inbox!
Thank you SO much for answering my question, I will try it next time!

  • Since upgrading to Mail 7.0 the menu popup from right clicking an element in an email has changed.

Since upgrading to Mail 7.0 the menu popup from right clicking an element in an email has changed.  There is now only a short three item menu:
Previously there was a longer menu (like the one when right clicking an item on a Safari page):
I've looked in Preferences and at all the Mail dropdown items but can't find any way to get the old menu back (or why it changed).  In particular, I miss the "copy image" item which allowed me to copy an item image into a new email for forwarding.  I've got two email accounts, an IMAP and a POP.  The behavior is the same with both.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Your screen shots are not visible to me.  But I think I understand your question.
    Several thoughts come to mind:

You can still, of course, simply forward the entire email message containing the image.
You could also use the "Save Attachment ..." feature available when you right click and copy and paste from there once the image is saved.
Less likely, you could also use the "Share" feature available when you right click, though I suspect it may not offer sharing options that you would like.
