Mail box icon?

Anyone know what those mail box icons are/mean? they seem to have changed on my phone to the icons below.

I have never seen anything like this on an iPhone that has been jailbroken. When did they first appear, were you updating software at the time. Have you tried a reset or a restore from backup?  Hopefully somone else from the forums can chime in with some ideas of why these have changed.

  • I can only see the welcome to mail screen (iphone 5).  I have set up mail successfully because it shows mail icon with messages.  But I cant get into the mail box!

I can only see the welcome to mail screen (iphone 5).  I have successfully set up the mail because it shows mail icon with messages (104 messages).  But I cant get into the actual mail box to read them.  Pls help!

The received emails should show in two locations:
    1. In the All Inboxes tab of Mail.
    2. The Inbox for each mail account,
If your emails are not showing in these locations try quitting the mail app and then reset your iPhone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal.
To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • PLEASE help!! I use Outlook for my email and the Mail App Icon in my dock was also storing all my emails. So, I tried to delete ONLY the emails in the Mail App but somehow (under Preferences maybe?) I also deleted all my emails in my Outlook inbox.

PLEASE help!! I use Outlook for my email and the Mail App Icon that is in my dock, that I know nothing about, was also storing all my emails. So, I tried to delete ONLY the emails in the Mail App but somehow (under Preferences maybe?) I also deleted ALL my OUTLOOK emails in my inbox.  Can someone please please tell me if there is a way to get my Outlook inbox emails back OR EVEN the emails that were in my Mail app - because even tho I never use the Mail app, at least the emails would be there.
When I was trying to delete the emails in my inbox for the Mail app - I followed THESE directions.  It did in fact clear my inbox for the Mail app.  But then I went to log on to my Outlook account and EVERY SINGLE EMAIL was gone.  And not in the Deleted box.  Just gone.  Here are the directions I followed that screwed everything up.  Please help.
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors.
Uncheck "Store deleted messages on the server".
At the drop list for "Permanently erase deleted messages when", choose "Quitting Mail".
    Next...
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > General.
At "When searching all mailboxes, include results from", uncheck "Trash".
    Select All = command A

    i found out my prob!
    here is what you do.
go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
    click "software updates".
    click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
    go to mail.
    click "mail" at the top.
    click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!
its something with that update that effected mail, i hope this works out for you, if not reply back

Can't excess Email in Mail box

    Hey Hitesh_Motee,
    Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Have you managed to sync your e-mail at any point and only recently stopped or never work to begin with? Also what e-mail provider are you using?
I suggest first of all you should contact the email provider to be sure you have all the correct configuration settings for the e-mail account.
You can also try perform a soft reset *#7780# security code 12345 by default if prompted. This will restart all your phone settings to as they where out of the box, but will not delete any of your data.
Let me know how you get along.

  • TS4002 I subscribed to serveral communities for email.  I have over a thousand emails,  now the mail box in icloud says I can't open my mail account.  I have ML . I have been deleting little by little, can I delete it all?

I have tried deleteing all the mail, by selecting all to erase. I have done 5 at a time, 10 at a time by zooming out. Now I can not get into the mail box. I was sent a message saying I am not able to acess my mail. It is a me.com acct. I have 40gb of storage. Any suggestions of how to get rid of this mail? I don't want to give up my email address.    Thanks.    I did manage to stop all communty email and notifications. So no more email is coming.  Again, thanks to anyone who can help me!  Since I homeshare, I am sure all my other computers look the same!  LOL.. I have only myself to blame, I guess.    Linda

An Alias would be an email address that is delivered to a different account's inbox.
For instance if you have  [email protected] and have [email protected] Then [email protected] would be an alias if mails from that address arrive at the icloud address.
If you want to add a completely different account, with a spearate inbox, like an account in hotmail and one in say yahoo mail. Then as has been pointed out, you need to go into the  Settings Icon, Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and then on add account. The iPad has several services preconfigured, you can tap on one of those from the list to setup an email for that service. Such as Hotmail, Gmail etc...
Or you can tap on other to add a personal pop3 or imap type email like from your office, or your school.

  • Invisable Mail box listings (middle column)

I just upgraded to Mavrick and in my Mail everything is there but when I click on an email in the mail box the text goes white with a color background (normal) but when I click out of that email the box goes back to white but the text stays white (only the "To" or "Cc" stays visable in that they are blue). The text is still there and shows when I click back on the email to reveal the text in white with a color background. If I click out of the Inbox to another mailbox and back again all the text is back to normal but will stay white again when I click on them.  This seems to happen in all of my mailboxes. The actual email doesn't seem to be effected at all.

Sounds like you want the "classic layout" (as in, the way Mail looked before Lion).  Go to Mail -> Preferences, click the Viewing icon and check "Use classic layout."

  • After installing mountain lion the local mail boxes disappeared

after installing mountain lion the local mail boxes disappeared.

    This is my problem too:
All of my local mailboxes (On my Mac) disappeared from the sidebar.  However, I do not have the 'triangle' on the Inbox that I can turn to reveal the list of mailboxes -- that disappeared too (and nothing happens when I hover over "Inbox").  I do know that the mailboxes are still there, somewhere, because when I go to create a New Mailbox, I can navigate to "On My Mac" and the entire mailbox list shows up there in the dropdown.  How do I get them back onto my sidebar if the option to do that is no longer on the "Inbox" icon?

  • Phantom junk mail box - help!

A little over a month ago my junk mail went haywire and began flagging far too much. I switched email providers and they were providing good filtering so I shut down OSX mail's junk mail filters and went about my business. Then I realized today that I was missing some important emails people had claimed to send me. I checked on gmail (my provider) and sure enough there was a record of them and, in fact, they were shown to have been downloaded. I searched for them and couldn't find anything. Then I reactivated my junk mail system and when the junk mail box reappeared it had two hundred messages in it. Admittedly most of them were junk but there were a dozen or so that were not and I never got them.
So, the question is, why did junk mail keep filtering after it was turned off and the junk mail box had dissappeared? The second question is how do I actually turn it off and not worry that more messages are dissappearing. Please help!!!

Hi, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, but it's best to start with these two steps, which may fix it also...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then Safe Boot off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.
Safe Boot... holding Shift key down at bootup.

  • Recover mail boxes "on my mac" from external hard drive

How can I recover my mail boxes saved "on my macbook" pro osx 10.9 from a backup on my external hard drive? There is no folder called "mail" in my library, neither on my external hard drive, neither on my Mac, is this unique to Maverick?
I really need to find those emails stored on my mac because my hotmail has a virus and delete my email everyday (now using gmail)
    Thanks

You should see something like this:
In Mail, enter Time Machine from the icon in the Menu Bar:

  • When I send or receive e-mails, the icon showing that there is an attachment with the e-mail may or may not appear. I have spoken to Apple and they cannot fix.

When I send or receive e-mails, the icon showing that there is an attachment with the e-mail may or may not appear. I have contacted Apple and they do not have a solution for this issue. This is a huge problem for me.

No, the senders are in most case sending from corporate servers which are almost certainly not Mac based. Also, remember this happens when I send or receive. So if I send something with an attachment, the attachment will go through, but the sent box will not show the paper clip icon so that I can distinguish the emails sent with attachments versus the emails sent without attachments. I receive the attachments as well, but again the paper clip icon does not show up so that I can distinguish the emails that I have received that contain attachments. Recipients of my e-mails have complianed that when they receive an attachment from me they do not see the paper clip icon which alerts them to the fact that the email contains an attachment.

  • My various mail boxes now and then gets the Exclamation sign

Why does the other mail boxes on m Mobile Me account - now and then get the Exclamation Point the the wheel keeps spinning?
What causes that and how do I fix it?

You're not alone - I haven't found a reliable solution, and keep hoping it doesn't happen that often.
I just click on that icon...if that doesn't work, a dialog usually pops up asking if the account should be brought back online. I suspect you've been thru this part tho

  • HT6065 I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks OS X, and lost all of my "on my mac" mail boxes.  How do I restore them?

I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks OS X, and lost all of my "on my mac" mail boxes.  How do I restore them?

The answer was more complicated.  I had to have an Apple Care tech help me onscreen.  Had to go to Time Machine to restore (which I had tried, but couldn't find the right files to import.  The Mail icon was barred).  They helped me find them.  It was very complicated, with many steps involved.  I never could have figured it out on my own.  Even the tech was not sure how, or if it would work. And it took about 1/2 hour for the stuff to download. But, the problem was solved eventually
.  Thanks again for your help!

  • Gray Box Icon upper right corner?

I have had my phone for 1 year now and now I have this icon that is a small gray rectangualr box with two dots in it to the right of my battery status on my main screen.  Anytime I had a voicemail it had showed up and then I would listen and it would disappear but I have no voicemails and it remains...what is this icon and how do i get rid of it? Thanks!

That does sound like you voice mail indicator. Looks like this one below?
If you have an errant VOICE MAIL waiting icon on your home screen:
    * Call your voice mail and clear the message.
    * Call your BB from another line and leave a message. From you BB, call your voice mail and clear and delete your messages.
    * If the above fails, pull your battery to reset and reboot your BlackBerry.
