Mail - can't get attachment closed

I opened up a pdf attachment on one of my emails and can not get it to close. How do I back out?

That happens some time. With the mail app open try force quitting it:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then
press and hold the Home button until the application you were using quits.
You can also try turning off that mail account and then turning it back on
Settings>Mail...>ten the specific account.
Lastly, reset:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the
Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Basically the message is saying the phone can't talk to the place where your email is stored for some reason. This could be an incorrect username/password, or some other issues. Follow the steps in this article and see if they help:

External mail can't get to two specific users

I don't know if this is the correct forum to ask this question. If not, I apologize.
I'm using Groupwise 2012 on a SUSE server.
I have two specific users that can't get email from Gmail or Yahoo mail...don't know if other domains are affected. The bounce mail indicates a 550 error. I have checked the GWIA log and can't see where the attempted email shows up. I've used GWCHECK against both mail boxes and no errors were found.
Where do I look next?

Can you save them ? What are the file formats (after .) of the attachments. Depending the file formats, you need software to be able to open them (most of them are free).

Mail can't get my mail via IMAP

Apple Mail 6.6 does not connect to my Mail account via IMAP. It keeps telling me that my passwort is wrong however, it definitely is not.
I can connect to my mail account (a gandi.net account) via thunderbird, via my android phone and via the terminal on my Mac. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Connection doctor says passwort or username incorrect which is both impossibe. See details below.
There is no entry in the keychain. Every time I want to get my mail, it asks me for my password over and over again even though I entered it in the preferences.

Deleted Mail - Can I get them back via Time Capsule?

I've started using the Mail app. only recently. I synced my hotmail account to it and everything was working fine, until yesterday when it simply stopped receiving messages. I went on various forums and the only solution seemed to be to delete the account and add it again. Which I did - works now, however - I no longer have any of my old messages (some going back to 2003). I thought I'd check on the actual hotmail webmail and sure enough, they're all gone from there as well.
I use time capsule so would that have backed up my old mails, if so, where do I go to get them?

you can try this:
o Start with the regular Mail application open on your desktop, then click the Time Machine icon in your Dock.
o Navigate to the desired backup, select the mailbox you want to restore from (and individual messages if desired), and click the Restore button.
o TM will make a new folder named Time Machine in the On My Mac section, containing a Recovered Messages mailbox. This avoids duplicating messages in the selected mailbox; you can move or delete individual messages wherever you wish.
o If you restore additional mailboxes or messages, Time Machine will make a separate Recovered Messages-1 mailbox for them.
o Note that you cannot restore Mail data to an alternate location via this method.

If you delete a POP mail account in Mac Mail can you get your mails back?

This has happened to a client of mine. She'd just set up a new account for her email as she'd moved servers. She had an old POP mail account on her Mac Mail for two years which she deleted and now all of her old sent mails are gone plus everything from the inbox that wasn't moved into folders.
How do you get those emails back? (I'm not sure if she has been using Time Machine to back everything up)
Will re-creating the old account help?

If she hasn't been backing up with Time Machine (or a full backup which hasn't been overwritten) they are gone. Recreating the account won't being them back.
If she has Time Machine, open (user)/Library/Mail in the Finder and then enter Time Machine. Navigate backwards looking for a folder named POP- and the name of the account. Use TM to restore that.

Mail can't get gmail anymore.

I get the following error message through the default mail app:
The mail server "imap.gmail.com" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.
This happened Friday night. I never changed any settings, an restarting my phone hasn't done the trick.

Go to settings>Mail contact and settings. From there go to the mail account you are having issues with.
Delete the account. Once deleted, add the account back to your device.

Is it automatically configuring the wrong server settings?
If so, on the first page of entering email address, hold down the option key and click continue. That will allow you to set it up manually.
Without more details on what you've tried, I can only guess at what the problem may be.

Mail Can't Get Mail

I'm baffled. I have two Macs at home: iMac and MBP. Both are connected to my AEBS. However, my MBP can't retrieve any messages. All I see next to the accounts are spinning wheels and some accounts are greyed-out. The accounts are set up exactly the same on both computers.
Internet is working fine on both computers. And ideas as to what's going on???

I think so, but I am not 100% sure on that. Before you remove that preference file, it occurs to me that it might be worth opening up the Keychain utility and deleting the keychain references for your home AEBS, then plugging in the passphrase or password again when you are prompted to do so.
