Mail can't open

My email can,t open, after click blinking .

If resetting the iPad doesn't work for you, try quitting the mail app and restart.
To quit the app - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If nothing else works, you can try deleting the email account in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> tap on the account to select it and the tap on delete. Add it back to iPad and see if that helps.

  • Mail Can't Open & com.apple.internetaccount process hogging 100% CPU

Desperately seeking answers after Mavericks install..
My mail crashed and now won't open at all. I've tried most (if not all) the suggestions posted by others.  Haven't tried deleting and reinstalling mail yet, as this will be my last resort since I have a work account in it that is not on IMAP.
And another troubling issue is my macbook's fan is going crazy and feels like its overheating.
Looking at "Activity Monitor" I see a process "com.apple.internetaccounts" that is taking 100% CPU and 1.6GB of memory!!
No idea what this process is and can't seem to quit it.

@Drewli77 yup that's it. When Mail opened I chose Google/Gmail and let Mail set the account up for me.
Before doing that I had noticed com.apple.internetaccounts hogging the CPU. I went into System Preferences > Internet Accounts, waited 10 minutes for the spinning ball to stop, then deleted the Google account in there. There was only one Google account in there, despite the fact that I have four Google accounts set up in Mac Mail. Anyway this one account seemed to be what was slowing down that preference pane. After deleting Accounts.plist I re-added my accounts in Mail, which added them to the Internet Accounts preference pane, but now that preference pane (and Mail) open just fine without hogging resources.
What annoys me is the fact that hitting Delete on a message sends it to Trash, which in Mavericks corresponds to Gmail's Trash, meaning it gets purged every month (regardless of the setting you choose in Mac Mail). I've been using Option-Delete to Archive it, but I wish I could just use Delete for that, since I always Archive and rarely Trash messages. I would set another folder to be used for Trash, but sadly, all of the options under Mailbox > "Use this mailbox for" are greyed out.

  • JPG files attached to mails - can't open directly

I use webmail applications (not directly 'Mail' from Mac OS) and when image JPG files are attached, and click on them to open them, the computer considers them as 'binary file' and only allows to save to disk - then, on the disk, Mac opens them with single-click with 'Preview' ('Vista Previa' in Spanish Mac OS); why can't I open them directly on the web application? Is there anything I can do (seting) to see the images with a single-click fro the atach icons?

Are these JPG files you receive via email coming only from one user, or any user?
The JPG file email attachment is opened on the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Attachment Service. It is a core part of your operating system.
First off, try this:  With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now attempt to view an email-attached jpg file. Any luck?
If not you might want to upgrade your OS on the device.
Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.
See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8500-series-discussion-gemini/227461-latest-os-8520-5-0-0-11...
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • Mail can't open on new OS Yosemite

I upgraded my OS to Yosemite several days ago. The Mail doesn't work properly. Error message pops up prompting me to "Re-open", sometimes can but mostly can't and quit by itself.
Is it a know bug /defect on the new OS?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

How long is "a long time" ... hours? days? weeks?
Since you are using Yahoo mail, and having the same problem on more-than-one computer... the 'error code 7' is very likely to be a Yahoo-generated message, not related to your browser.
(I suggest this because I have seen similar messages many times from Yahoo in the past two months... although typically error code 4 or 14, rather than 7... and "We're working on it" is, literally, one of Yahoo's standard responses. Several times, Yahoo blamed network issues, including a severed underwater cable, for the problem; I have not experienced the issue for a few weeks now.)

  • Mail can't open Word attachments

I did a clean install of Tiger and my apps. Things got messy however and I ended up just dragging some of my apps back over from my back up, --though at this point I can't remember which apps.
Now when I receive an email with a Word doc attached, I get the following error message when I click on the attachment: "The application 'Microsoft Word' failed to open the attachment 'name.doc'" and I am given the option of choosing an app to open it with. I navigate to Word and choose it and it opens the attachment just fine.
    Any thoughts???
    Many thanks, --Brian

Have you repaired permissions using Disk Utility? After doing that, click on verify disk and if any problems show up you will need to boot from your install CD/DVD and repair disk.

  • Mac Mail can only open single email

Hi there - new to Mac. Using MacBook Pro, 10.9.4
Without (knowingly) modifying configs, Mac Mail now only allows me to display a single email at a time. The very top of the email also no longer contains the menu bar with buttons to expand, minimize, close (below).
When I open an email or select compose, the email enters the screen from the bottom.
Below is a shot of what an email looks like. Tx !

    Hello gratefulcreative,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand the different issues you are seeing in Mail and thank you for including a screenshot. From the picture, it appears that Mail is in full-screen view. To change back to the non full screen view that will include the menu bar with buttons as you described in your post, please follow the instructions in the attached article.

  • Can't open mail after update

I am getting an error message saying that mail can't open because the newer version may be located elsewhere than in applications.  I have checked and I have versions 4.5 and 4.6 in applications.  I have followed instructions in help to reinstall Mac OS and security update then try mail again, but it still doesn't work.  Do I need to delete 4.5?  Sounds daft to you experts I'm sure, but am worried I will lose all my emails if I do so.  Also, seems that Adobe wants to open all files as default, but I can't figure out how to change that (in case that's the problem).  Would love some help, please.

Delete 4.5. I would then go through the steps again (see here). It won't lose your setting or messages.
Select a file that Adobe is opening, Command-I to bring up the Info window, choose what it should be opened with, then click Change All.

  • Mail won't open, permissions error

Under Mountain Lion, I am getting an error opening Mail:
"Mail can’t open because you don’t have the necessary permissions to change the folder where it saves information.
Mail stores information in /Macintosh HD/Users/cutterd/Dropbox/Mail. If this folder is on your computer, use the Get Info window in the Finder to change your permissions for this folder to “Read & Write.” If this folder is located on a network server, contact the server administrator. After your permissions are changed, open Mail again."
I have been running this very sucessfully in Lion, and no other machines are using the files (DropBox is off right now). After install, I get the above permissions error.
I am the owner listed on the folder, and have the correct 'read & write' permissions. I have performed both the 'restart Cmd-R and run permissions reset under the resetpassword', and the 'chmod -RN ~', with no noticable effect.
I have a cloned machine, and can verify, it works pre 10.8 pefectly.
    Ideas?

I had the same issue (I keep my Mail folder on a secondary HD in my MacBook since my SSD is small), and found that it requires a symlink rather than an alias to work in 10.8. A symlink is very similar to an alias but is created using the 'ln' command in the Terminal, rather than by the Finder. The command below should do what you need:
    ln -s '/Users/cutterd/Dropbox/Mail/' '/Users/cutterd/Library/Mail'
And yes, it appears to be a bug (at least in the sense that the error message makes no sense), but it is one that is easily worked around for now.
