Mail, can't send, can't type special characters

I can't send mail but I can recieve mail. I can't reply to email. When opening a new mail I can add the address and subject line but when I type in the body of the email I start typing and as soon as I hit the space bar or any special characters it freezes up and I can't do anything. I've rebuilt the the mailbox, I've checked my quotas and they are fine. I can also get on the internet. This happened to me before but forgot what the problem was. The other day I updated to the latest OS X but everything was ok till yesterday when I took my laptop to our other location where I'm wireless through a cable modem. I have the same connection at both locations. I am using Mac Mail version 2.0.5 This is driving me crazy that I can't find an answer. Please, can anyone out there help me, I sure would appreciate it.

I just had another hunt around looking at posts and discovered that it was because I recently changed to BT Infinity and they had a block on.

I ack only type special characters, so I'm locked out. Help?

My cat stepped on my keyboard and some buttons on a wacom tablet. I thought the keyboard might be acting up when I could only type special characters, but I took out the batteries and plugged in another keyboard.

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Outgoing mail & router problem - can't send (can receive) messages through Mail on specific network

Hello everyone,
There's a problem that's been bugging me for quite some time now. I'm using Mail to handle my gmail email, and everything's working fine, except when i'm connected to my work wifi.
When i'm connected to my work wifi I can't send e-mails. Mail will try to send a message (it shows a loading icon next to the 'Sent' mailbox)
for a few minutes before notifying me that it cannot send the message. When I look at the 'Activity' window, it seems to be stuck on 'checking account connections' and 'sending message'..
The strange thing is, when I switch networks to some other wireless network (my home network, or our neighbors, for example), the message is sent straight away and everything works perfectly.
I'm using the standard gmail settings (smtp.gmail.com, standard ports & password authentication)..
My work router is a Thomson TG789vn.
I hope someone can help :-)

p.s. I just testing sending again, and was able to send 1 email. It took about 20 min to send.. ( :-s ), it was only text.. weird.

How can I type special characters on bootcamp?

I try to find a way to type specials caracters on windows that I used to type on my PC with the combination ALT+XXXX where X are numbers. I have search here (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17571606#17571606 https://discussions.apple.com/message/12157759#12157759) and on the net but I'm still not able to type them.
Does anyone has found a solution to this?
I know that I can use the caracter table embedded in windows but that's not very convenient when you need to regularly type special caracters.
I have a MBP retina with Win7 x64 on bootcamp.

Can you help me find my special characters?

I have used special characters without any hitch in the past. But now I can't bring them up at all. Not in Pages, or in Mail. Can anyone suggest a solution? I'm using a rather old 12" iBook G4.

Can I change the Password Policy Special Characters list?

I would like to add the UK Pound sign £ to the list of characters IDM uses for special characters in its password policy checks.

It should be possible but it might be be possible from the GUI. I did a quick search in my IDM development environment and found two objects that might be of use to you.
First was the UserUIConfig Configuration object. I have a feeling that is a hold-over from IDM 7.1 so it might not be applicable but within it is this:

The second thing I found was the "Alpha Numeric Rules" rule library, also a Configuration object. It has a rule called "SpecialCharacters" and "hasSpecial" that might be of use to you.
I haven't tried changing either of those objects myself. Let us know how it goes!

SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 sending pdf with wrong special characters

Hi Experts,
Im using the fm SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 to send out a pdf (into sap office box). But when I open it
I get totally wrong special characters (Chinese for instance, and ' is replaced by #).
I have already applied the note 1430123 but it didnt resolve the issue.
Can anybody help on this?

Understanding how to type special characters

We're running Frame 7.2p158 on Windows XP and experiencing unexpected results using keyboard sequences to insert special characters.
1. Out of my group of 7, 2 writers say that Ctrl+q zero does not insert the multiplication sign in the default font. It works for the rest of us. I didn't believe this until I personally experiment with other combinations listed in the help that do not work on my machine.
2. On the help page entitled Symbols Page for Windows, there is a list of Alt+Ctrl combinations that are supposed to insert Greek letters. None of these work for me. I have tried pressing Ctrol and alt simultaneously then the letter, as I do with the multiplication sign that does work for me. I have tried pressing Ctrl, then Alt then a letter, I have tried pressing all three at the same time. None of these work.
This makes me think I am missing some simple point, or omitting some step.
Does anyone out there have any idea what?

If you want to do the same, but also including the possibility to use Unicode do this (FM8!!!):
Hold down the Alt key and hit the + (PLUS) key on the numeric keypad followed by the hex code for the unicode character you want. For letters use the normal keys on the keyboard.
For example, to get permille, enter
Alt + PLUS + 2030
If you are working on a laptop this becomes extremely ackward since the numeric keypad is often 'hidden' with the use of a function key of some sorts.

I can Receive mail but cannot send-- can anyone help??

I just got my iPhone and I was setting up my email account which is AIM. It works perfectly except for one problem. When I try to send an email (and I have tried to multiple people), a message pops up that says:
Cannot Send Mail
The sender address was invalid.
It says this any messages I try to send. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!!

How can I put emoji from the special characters from the edit menu on to a Pages document? They will go on an email but not on Pages. Other special characters like divination symbols will go but not emoji, i.e., smiling faces.

Note that you can also exclude a page from your sitemap.xml to prevent crawlers from crawling it. Usually you don't want to do this, but if you have a good reason to the setting for that is in the page properties dialog.

I'm able to set alt text on thumbnail images. Are you sure you have the thumbnail image selected?
You can create a placeholder page in your plan view, then mark the page menu options as 'include page without hyperlink'. Then your menu will contain an entry for this page, but no hyperlink. If you select the menu item, you can assign a hyperlink with the hyperlink control in the control strip.

I reset my email password on my Iphone 6 and now i can't send emails. i keep getting a message saying the email password is incorrect but i'm receiving email

i've rebooted and deleted the acc and reinstated, still says the password is incorrect. i get mail but can't send. can anyone help please?

Can't read special characters in an excel file using JDBC

Hi! I 've a code to read an excel file using JDBC-ODBC bridge. I can read the values, but any special characters is readed wrong, just symbols. The special characters are of spanish language. This is my code:

Can Apple TV display special characters in movie chapter names?

I have an Apple TV 2.0.1. I have encoded my own movies with descriptive chapter names, imported them into iTunes 7.6.2.9, and synced them to my Apple TV. Does the Apple TV have the ability to display special characters (ó, û, etc.) in movie chapter names? The movies play fine and in iTunes the chapter names are all displayed correctly. I also have an iPod Touch 1.1.4 and it can display the chapter names with special characters fine as well. When playing the movies on Apple TV, only the chapters that have special characters in them display nothing at all for the chapter name. All the other chapters display fine.

I can't really confirm your observation one way or the other, I don't use chapter names. I suspect though that your observations are correct. Unusual characters can often cause issues in a variety of ways, illegal characters in your filenames for example can cause the video not to be found at all or in some cases simply not play. If you are using ie instead of safari for example the  in my welcome my well not display properly whereas others will clearly see it as an apple symbol.

Send CAN remote frames periodic on RTSI pulse

Hi. I'm trying to send a remote frame (with the RTR bit set) on receipt of a RTSI pulse from a PXI 6602 timer card. I then need to receive CAN data frames at the CAN card from the instruments with the arbitration ID of the remote frame sent.
I can do this using CAN object transmits period using RTSI example vi and Cont pulse train vi to provide the RTSI pulse. However this can only send CAN data frames, not remote frames. Grateful for any help on this.

Instead of using a CAN Object you can use a Network Interface Object for that. There is already an example that just needs minimal modification.
If you are using LabVIEW:
Open the NI ExampleFinder and navigate to the Network Interface transmits CAN frame on RTSI example (Hardware Input and Output » CAN » Frame API » Synchronizing CAN with DAQ » DAQ Card Controls RTSI » Network Interface Objects). Modify the example by wiring a '1' (numeric value) to the currently open 'IsRemote' terminal of the ncWriteNet.vi.
If you are using C:
Navigate to the …\National Instruments\NI-CAN\MS Visual C\Frame API examples folder and open the Network Interface transmits CAN frame on RTSI example. Locate the line
Transmit.IsRemote=NC_FALSE;
And change it to
Transmit.IsRemote=1;
Now, you’re transmitting a remote frame with every RTSI pulse.
