Mail cannot Display Chinese Correctly!?

I have set up Google mail in Mail on the iPhone, but I cannot read emails written in Chinese. Is it just me or is it Apple's bug? I think Apple should fix this since 1.1.3 firmware already offered support for Asian font like Chinese. For now by going to Settings--General--International--Asian Font--Chinese, does not help at all.
Thanks,

But most people would not know how to set their outgoing mails to Unicode in their webmail or email client.
And that might not make any difference either, because most webmail is defective and can't handle unicode correctly anyway.
The real solution should be on the receiver's end, i.e. give us the options to choose how to encode incoming emails written in different languages. Just like you can select how to encode a webpage in IE or Safari.
Of course that is correct. Hopefully the iPhone will eventually have all the encoding and font capabilities of the full OS X. Make sure you tell Apple you want this here:

• ITunes cannot display Chinese

I have a number of Chinese songs on my iPod that loaded from a Windows pc. Now, I am using MBA with iTunes and all song titles become garbage. I am using English version Leopard 10.5.2 and iTunes. Can someone advise how to configure it to display Chinese correctly. Thanks!

You probably need to fix the encoding of the ID3 tags. See if this note helps:

• Cannot display Chinese font in PDF Report

I am using Oracle Report Server 11g currently. I have met a problem that the chinese font cannot be displayed in the PDF report which is generated by oracle report. Can anyone help ?

Hi...
You can achieve this in XML report.
As per metalink Note id ID 842856.1,
1. Copy the following font files from $FND_TOP/resource to the /lib/fonts directory (under OA_JRE_TOP).
ALBANYWT.ttf - "single-byte" characters only
ALBANWTJ.ttf - Unicode font with Japanese Han Ideographs
ALBANWTK.ttf - Unicode font with Korean Han Ideographs
ALBANWTS.ttf - Unicode font with Simplified Chinese Han Ideographs
ALBANWTT.ttf - Unicode font with Traditional Chinese Han Ideographs
2. Restart the Apache.
Regard,
Sathiya.

• Mail not displaying attachments correctly

I wondered if anyone can help me out with the following please?
From time to time when receiving email attachment in mail I do not receive the attachment as a downloadable file, instead mail does not recognize the attachment and displays garbled text (See below sample).
This can happen with simple single Word files emailed to me and has happened with other file types such as PowerPoint and Jpegs. The problem is intermittent but is very irritating.
My ISP is AOL and I am running Panther on my MAC .
Incidentally my work around is to access the mail using AOL’s website and downloading the attachment from there.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue in mail? Thanks gang.

Linda,
This next line of questions, and suggestion for things to observe, should not be pursued, without some feedback, and perhaps additional info. However, if some files leftover from when Panther and Mail 1.3 was used, are present, then the index file now used in Mail 2.0/2.1 may be corrupted, and if so, it will never impact every Mac, and its Mail exactly the same way.
Since your mailboxes, or at least some of them, originated in Panther, I want you to read the article at the link below, and get back to me with some observations, before attempting any changes -- however, the problem is not usually as severe with xxxx.imapmbox folders, but can still be present:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301315
This issue of leftover files applies not only to mailboxes you have previously created (which are in the Mailboxes folder the article mentioned) but can also apply to those mailboxes in account folders created prior to the upgrade to Tiger, which will be of the form, xxxx.imapmbox.
Also, please report the size of each file or folder. Do not, however, try to list the files that are within the folder named Messages, that is found in each and every mailbox. For any On My Mac mailboxes, it is very important to compare the size of any file named "mbox" with that of the Messages folder. If the mbox is greater in size than the Messages folder, then not all messages have been converted to be in the Messages folder. Also, if any xxxx.mbox folder has more than one folder with Messages in its name, things are not what they should be.
The path to the Mail folder is Home/Library/Mail -- within the Mail folder are one or more account folders and the Mailboxes folder. Even though you are using IMAP, other mailboxes (On My Mac or POP) might still corrupt the Envelope Index that Mail 2.x now uses instead of separate index files in each mailbox.

• JavaFX Mobile EA on Window Mobile 6.1 cannot show chinese correctly

Text{content: "测试" }, it is shown well in the JavaFX Desktop or applet. but it is garbled on JavaFX real device(HTC Touch Diamond 2 Window Mobile 6.1 professional)
I also try the new String("测试".getBytes(), "UTF-8") even "\u6D4B\u8BD5", nothing can be working well.
Anyone can help us on the garbled issue? we are really appreciated him, now we have tried any way and where should we go?
Thank you very much

the Character is not equals charIt should be, but it seems we don't have total symmetry of types yet. See [finish primitive-sequence to primitive-array conversions|http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/JFXC-3257] bug, for example, or [nativearray of byte|http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/JFXC-3325] which will be fixed in SoMa (JavaFX 1.3?).
I tried:
var foo = "{[ 1 .. 400 ]}";
var dummy = foo.substring(0, 1024);
var buff: nativearray of Character = dummy.toCharArray();
println(sizeof buff);and I get an error: TestPlain.fx:21: incompatible types
found : nativearray of Character
required: nativearray of java.lang.Character
var buff: nativearray of Character = dummy.toCharArray();
^
1 errorAnd if I write: var buff: nativearray of Character = dummy.toCharArray() as nativearray of Character; I get a compiler crash...
I see, looking at [String(byte...) doesn't compile|http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/JFXC-2852] bug, SequenceConversions class in the webrev.zip file, that we don't have a toCharArray method yet. Either an overview or some technical issue, I don't know.
So it looks like there are still some holes in nativearray support (it was presented as "experimental" in JavaFX 1.2 release announcements...).
PS.: I am not a Sun employee, I don't know Chinese, I don't have a Windows Mobile phone and I didn't even tried the mobile emulator yet (just tried, seems hard to use outside of NetBeans, which I don't have), among other problems. So I fear I am not the best help you can get, don't put high hopes on me... :-P
