Mail Client stopped sending mail via googlemail after changing password

I changed my google mail password.  Now, I am getting smtp.gmail.com failures on both my iMac and my Mac Air.  I have updated my google password on all my devices. iPhone and iPad work fine but neither computer will send mail. Running Yosemite 10.10.1 on both computers.  Also tried resetting Captcha (?) per similar issues on google threads...did not help.

You do not need to delete your account.  The trick is that there are TWO places to put in your account password.  You probably fixed it in the obvious place, and your incoming mail works fine.  Now you need to fix it for your outgoing mail:
Settings > Mail > your account > Outgoing Mail Server > Primary Server >Password
and suddenly your outgoing mail will work again  :-)

  • Can I use a different mail client to "Send a Copy" from Pages?

One of my favorite Pages features is its ability to send someone a copy of your document in Pages, Word, PDF, or ePub format via email with only a couple clicks in the "Share" button. But this feature only works if Mail, Apple's email client, is set as the default email client for your Mac. Because I use Unibox as my email client, I'm unable to take advantage of the "Send a Copy" feature in Pages. Is there a work around for this or a settings file within the system I can tweak to allow me to use a mail client other than Apple Mail to "Send a Copy" from Pages? Thank you!

No, I haven't heard that. YOu have to do it the old fashion way and attach a document in your mail client before sending the mail.

I would think that at the very LEAST you would be eligible for a COMPLETE refund of ALL charges for insurance paid thru Verizon!  They were charging you for something you were ineligible for!  Verizon has a record of whether or not you purchased the phone from them - otherwise how could they deny the claim!

  • Gwia2012 stops sending mails

After upgrading from GW8 (Netware) to GW12012 (OES11) my gwia stops sending
mails after all 8 configured SMTP send threads are eaten up. This happens in
a period of about 1 to 2 weeks and I found that used send threads aren't
released anymore and the gwia send queue is filling up with unsent mails.
After restarting gwia these mails are sent without any problems.
With a low mail traffic of about 300 mails in and 50 mails out per day I
used the default smtp thread values of 8 (send) and 16 (receive).
    Any help is welcome!
    Cheers, k.

The challenge with such a script is, 'What counts as dead?'. I have
seen agents that are running and responsive to tests, but some part has
been non-functional such as in the beginning of this thread. The script
Thomas pointed us to (Thanx Thomas, it is certainly useful) would
probably not help K for the problem he/she is dealing with.
Rereading Danita's post in this thread really looks to me like just
scheduling a simple restart of the agent weekly just to get through
until the problem is resolved. Perhaps you mixed up threads as she
certainly alluded to such as script in another thread (GWIA dies avery
    2 -3 weeks).

  • How can I set up another email client to send mail as my dotmac account?

My business uses an online application that can send emails to our customers as long as we provide it with an email account. I used the following from my mail.app:
    SMTP HOST: smtp.mac.com
    SMTP PORT: 25
    SMTP_AUTH: true
SMTP USER: cryogen (my dotmac account and email)
SMTP PSWD: ****** (my dotmac password)
But, I cannot seem to get this to work. I tried it with another account I have with COMCAST.NET and I was able to successfully send emails using that account.
Is there something special about a dotmac account that I am missing?
    Thanks.

The information you’ve provided now is what I was asking for. Unfortunately, it’s still insufficient. It’s critical to know here whether the SMTP server does actually accept or reject the request of the mail client to send the message. Any conventional mail client would allow you to know that. In Mail, for example, you know that the message has been sent because Mail puts it in the Sent mailbox (whether the message arrives at the destination is an entirely different issue). And if the SMTP server rejects the message for some reason, Mail will report what the reason is.
Whether I’ve actually set up a different mail client to send with a .Mac account is irrelevant -- I don’t even have a .Mac account, for that matter, nor do I need one. Gee, if I needed to have the same accounts as the people I help, I couldn’t be here. Fortunately, I just need to know how email works and what the idiosyncrasies of some email services are, if any.
Try setting up your .Mac account using a conventional alternative mail client, such as Thunderbird, and you’ll see that you can do that with no problems -- or, if you have problems, it should be pretty clear what they are exactly and how to fix them.

  • It stopped sending mail and moving messages between folders, junk messages stopped being moved.

Recently, Thunderbird stopped sending mail and moving messages between folders, junk messages stopped being moved.

Further notes (different user, same problem):
    * This is a problem that started in Thunderbird 32
    * This involves both automatic (filter) moves and manual moves
    * This includes use of keys and hotkeys (the delete key, for example)
    * Restarting Thunderbird does seem to "reset" the problem... for a while. I notice the problem most when either I've been away from the computer/program for a while or when waking a laptop computer from a sleep or hibernation state.

  • Mail suddenly stopped sending outgoing emails!

I have 4 email accounts in Mail that just stopped sending outgoing emails yesterday without changing anything!
I have another Mac (OS X 10.6) connected to the same router, I set up one of the email addresses on that with the same details and it works perfectly.
I've noticed there are a couple of other threads on here with the same thing and they don't appear to have answers, hopefully someone knows something!
    Help, very much appreciated!
    Mark

You likely have corrupted settings for your  "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)".  Open Mail>go to Mail's Preferences>Accounts>there set up your Outgoing Mail Server which will INCLUDE resetting up your Password, as its asking you to.  Click on "SMTP Outgoing Mail Server" near the bottom of the Accounts window while your mail account is highlighted in the left hand column.  When you click on SMTP... you will see a drop down box icon offered at the right side of the line.  Click it and then select at the bottom of the the list "Edit SMTP Mail Server".  Fill in the required settings for your ISP mail account using their recommended settings.

For the fan issue, see if you can reset the SMC > Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
That may help the restarts as well.

  • Mail will not send mail, only receive.

I have spent the majority of today re-installing OS X and all necessary updates, music, data after the death of a hard drive. Luckily everything went perfectly, except for the same problem I had with Mail even before the 1st hard drive died. Mail will not send mail, only receive.
All efforts time out and give me this message: "The connection to the server mail.earthlink.net on port 25 timed out"
Mail used to send messages, but stopped suddenly in 2004 and has yet to start again. Any idea guys?! I can't figure it out, under Account settings I have necessary fields filled in: Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is set to "mail.earthlink.net", Server Port is set to 25, and Authentication drop menu is set to None.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    --DANIEL

This is NOT a problem with Mail or OS X. This is an incorrect settings problem - garbage in = garbage out and this information is certainly available at Earthlink's website and Earthlink also provides technical support.
Earthlink has an authenticated SMTP server they changed to long ago.
    SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 587 but 25 should work if you are using Earthlink as your internet service provider for connecting to the internet.
Use SSL: Off or not selected.
    Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name: Your ENTIRE Earthlink email address.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

  • Outgoing mail server not sending mail?

Out of nowhere, my iPhone 5 stopped sending mail. It recieves fine but won't send. I did a hard reboot and also shut it off and on again and nothing has worked.
I tried creating a new acct. and that would not work either. Any idea's on how to fix this issue? Thanks!

Please check your outgoing mail folder to see if you have an email stuck in outgoing mail. This will definately stop outgoing mail.
