Mail client won't send .Mac mail

Hi all,
Hope you can help. I'm suddenly having problems sending outgoing messages via the Mail client in 10.3.9. Mails go into the outbox and then a few mins later I get a prompt box stating:
+"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.+
+The SMTP server “smtp.mac.com” doesn’t support authentication. Please check your account settings and try again."+
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hello Michael
I think there might be a problem with the dot mac server. There are others experiencing the same problem posting at the .Mac forum.
As For your Mail's complaint that the server cannot use authorization, well, the dot mac server does use it, so that message is rather odd.
Try again later and it may be working.

  • Mac Mail won't send .mac mail

All of a sudden Mac Mail won't send mail from my .mac account through it's mail server even though the MobileMe sends mail just fine.
Anyone know what may be up?
I hate using the mobile me mail.

I experienced the same problem--unable to SEND mail using MobileMe server. Changed to port 587, now seems to work (cross fingers).
I also noticed that I cannot change the incoming mail server name from "mail.mac.com" to "mail.me.com." When I try to change then save, it reverts to "mail.mac.com."
By the way, under the "Advanced" menu, can anyone explain "IMAP Path Prefix"? It's blank by default, I gather. Why might someone use a prefix here? Also the default port is 143 and the "Use SSL" block is unchecked.
    Merely curious.

  • My imac's mail programme won't send my mail!

The imac has my hotmail linked to it, and has never had any problems but suddenly it won't send mail.  It says it timed out when connecting to live.com.  I have tried reinstalling the hotmail account but it didn't fix it.  Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  My iphone is working fine with the account and it also works with hotmail over the internet.  I am stumped!

I've had exactly the same issue over the past couple of days and this fix has just worked for me (thanks untzy) but I guess it hinges on you being with BT.
    1. Login to your BT home hub manager (this can be done using the router address located at: system preferences/network/advanced/TCP/IP)
    2. Input your router address into the web browser search bar
    3. Once on the access page you will need to input your wireless admin password (found on the back of your router)
    4. When you are on the home page, you will need to follow the following steps to change your device name:
    5. Select "A-Z" in the top right section of the page
    6. Click on "Home Network" from the available list of options
    7. Click on the Device in question (it should be showing as connected - I identified mine by the mac address, although it was named as 'unknown')
    8. Under Device Information, enter a new name (be sure this is memorable in case you need it again)
    9. Ensure Always use this address is set to Yes (it is by default)
    10. Click Apply.
You will then need to restart your computer - after this, hopefully the problem will be resolved....

  • How do i change my default mail client from entourage to mac mail

  • Can I set up a Non .mac Email Pop mail client Alias for sending SMTP mail?

I have a yahoo.com POP mail account - [email protected] When I'm lgged into Yahoo mail, this account can receive and send mail from serveral aliases - [email protected], [email protected], etc.
Using Tiger's mail.app, I can log into the Yahoo smtp server and get all my mail, including mail to the alias names.
I would like to be able to reply from my Mac's mail.app account, using one of the aliases, instead of my POP account name. In other words, I'd like the From field be listed as "[email protected]" and not "[email protected]"
In mail.app (v2.1) is there any way to do this?
Alan Sampson' suggestion doesn't work - when I set the From field to the alias name, it looks like mail tries to login to the yahoo SMTP server under the alias, and it gets rejected.
    ( - see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2603372&#2603372 )
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the primary email account preferences, enter all alias email addresses in the Email Address field for the account separate by a comma.
[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

If Yahoo allows this, it should work. Open Mail Help, type alias in the search box, and read the article titled Adding multiple email alias addresses to an account. Could it be that you're trying to put the aliases in the wrong field (i.e. User Name rather than Email Address)? Or maybe it's Yahoo's SMTP server that doesn't allow you to do this?

  • The E-mail campaign won't send E-mails to the E-mail addresses

    Hullo,
I need help here please, I have the E-mail addresses of the target group specified, yet when I start the campaign I don't receive any E-mails by the campaign neither in the Workplace in SAP GUI nor in the E-mail Addresses specified for the target group. What's the solution for this please?

    Hi Alhussien
Are you tinkering around with this requirement or do you have a true business need. If there is a proper business requirement here then ensure you follow the correct actions to deliver it.
First steps are to speak with your basis team as I've mentioned already. SAP functionality typically requires coordinated effort, if you want fully functioning outbound email to work then you'll need an mail server connection established.
As for your other question. This belongs in a separate post.
    Regards
    Arden

  • Just trying out my new mac but email won't load, error says "The mail server denied access to the account because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Try again later." A little lock is beside the email inbox

Just trying out my new mac but email won't load, error says "The mail server denied access to the account because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Try again later." A little lock is beside the email inbox account, no password prompted and account is online and enabled... Thoughts?

Have you tried clicking on the lock to see it it will then ask for a passwored.  Otherwise, try reblooting.

  • Probably incredibly simple question, so sorry. I have just changed e-mail after many many years and I want to e-mail everyone in my mac mail client with the new e-mail address at the same time.

Probably incredibly simple question, so sorry. I have just changed e-mail after many many years and I want to e-mail everyone in my mac mail client with the new e-mail address at the same time.

If you are using Address Book, open it, create a new Group, select all you contacts by click the top one while holding down the shift key and then select the last one. Drag the contacts to the group, then send an e-mail to the group.

  • I recently updated to Mavericks and now all my e-mail accounts won't send

I recently updated to Mavericks and now all my e-mail accounts won't send. They all receive ok but when I send I get a message "sender address rejected by server" and " Authentification required" The passwords are still intact

Check the Mail settings for your account, especially the SMTP (outgoing) address, type of authentication, and entry of the proper email username and password. You can do this when you select the account then under the outgoing mail server use the dropdown menu to select the Edit option. Select your outgoing configuration in the list. Check the settings below, then click on the Advanced tab and check those settings.
If all is OK, then I suggest your reinstall Mavericks:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.

  • Sending mail with attachment fails on MAC Mail and WRP400.

Sending mail with attachment fails on MAC Mail and WRP400.
We have hundreds of WRP400 connected with Mac (Machintosh) computers. No special configurations are applied (no virtual server or DMZ). Web navigation, P2P programs and sending mail without attachment work right.
The problem is the impossibility to send mails with medium or big size files attachment from MAC Mail.
If we use Windows PCs or a different linksys routers (eg. WRT54G) the problem not happens.
We have upgraded WRP400 firmware version from 1.00.06 to 2.00.05 but the result is the same. Sending mail with attachment using Mac fails.
We tried to configure WRP400 with DMZ to a particular MAC. We tried to configure Virtual server on tcp 25 port of a MAC. The result is always the same.
This is a WRP400 bug? Windows PCs work right. MAC and MAC mail works right with other linksys router.
    We need help. Thanks.

The problem was fixed since beta firmware 2.00.11.
I think that this issue was caused from a bug that decrease upload bitrate of WRP400 after some days of activity.
See more details on Cisco forum under title "WRP400 stops responding after browsing certain websites".
    Thanks.

  • I've stuck with Entourage way too long. Now I don't dare install the Mavericks OS because all my Entourage files will go away. And my iMac won't open Mac Mail (probably because I've never opened it in the 5 - 6 years I've owned the Mac.) Any suggestions?

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
If there are specific tasks you need help with:

  • Iphone 4 won't send e-mails via aol

My iphone 4 won't send e-mails from my aol account.
i have updated to the latest software which has made no difference, it wasn't working on the previous software.
I have removed and installed my aol account again, switched wi-fi on and off and nothing that I have read on other posts seems to work.
Does anyone have any other ideas, very frustrated!!

I am having the SAME problem. It is driving me nuts. Did you fix it?

  • My new iphone 4 receives mail but won't send it

Depending on what account your using, you may need to enter a password for your outgoing mail server, same password as your incoming mail server - go back into the mail account and check.

  • IPhone won't send outgoing mail since upgrade to 5.0

iPhone won't send outgoing mail since upgrade to 5.0

I would manually go over each smtp setting and compare it with the mail providers guide
and if they were 100% the same then I would
get in touch with the phone company to verify if they were blocking the ports being
    used by the mail service
there is no general issue with ios5 removing out going mail services or blocking ports
