Mail configuration in portal

Hi,
I would like to get all my mails in portal. I m using my own mail server. V r not using either Exchange server or lotus server. Our local server v r using for mail communication. How can i configure this mail box to my portal. so that i get all my mails in portal itself,
and also one more doubt, how can i set session timeout to portal,.so that if i dont use portal for sme time, it should automatically log-off.
thanks & regards
venkat

Hi ,
You should integrate your portal with your local mail server ( sso confuguration also needed).
for session timeout
Hi ,
See the thread below , It ll resolve your issue
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=9561
reward points if it is helpful
Hello-
You can set the session timeout of the portal in EP6 SP2 by going to System Administration --> System Configuration --> UM Configuration --> Security Settings.
Here you will find the Lifetime of the SAP Logon Ticket. If this would expire on a user, the next time he/she would click on a link they would be informed their ticket has expired and please login again.
Your backend sessions would be handled automatically by the systems themselves.
The other option would be to put some Javascript code in the default framework page that would call the portal logout function after a certain amount of time. (This would also handle a backend system logout if the SAP transaction was visible and you had DSM termination enabled because the portal frame would change
put life time of logon ticket as the idle time u needed

  • How to Configure Multiple Portal Middle Tiers with a Load Balancing Router

    Hi,
Portal version trying to install 10.1.2 on Windows 2003 boxes.
I am following the guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/portal.1012/b14037/cg_advnc.htm#i1046354. I have InfraStructure installed on a different box and am trying to install 2 Portal Midtiers each on separate boxes and using LBR. The above document is kind of confusing as I am trying to following
5.3.1 Step 1: Install a Single Portal and Wireless Middle Tier (M1)
5.3.2 Step 2: Configure OracleAS Portal on M1 to Be Accessed Through the LBR (AND FOLLOW ARE THE STEPS 1 to 14 in sequence)
if I follow 1 to 14 steps in sequence the information is not consistent what is being listed in the following sections
    5.4.1 Create Virtual Hosts
    5.4.2 Configure OracleAS Web Cache
5.4.3 Register OracleAS Portal with OracleAS Single Sign-On
    i.e.
ptlconfig -dad portal -sso -host www.abc.com -port 7779
ptlconfig -dad portal -sso -host www.xyz.com -port 7779
as in the above steps it says to run
    ptlconfig -dad portal -wc -site
and ssoreg command that always fails because I am running it from midtier as it gives error saying invalid username/password
as oppoesed to steps listed in point 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Can someone please privide the steps in sequence I need to follow when installing 2 midtiers with frontend LBR and one infrastructure. I am trying to follow the architecture listed in the above link.
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Will appreciate any inputs on the following.
I am planning to install Infrastructure and one Midtier BI Forms Reports Discoverer, Portal on one windows box and the second midtier BI Forms Discoverer, Portal on the second windows box.
Please correct me if I am wrong on installing and configuring the mid-tiers as following are the steps I have compiled going through the document and want to make sure this time I do it right.
As I'll be installing BI Forms Reports Discoverer, Portal so wondering when I install the second midtier do I need to unselect all Portal, Forms, Reports, Discoverer or just the Portal I need to unselect.
Also in the host file of both the windows boxes do I just need to keep the LBR IP Address entry and remove the rest.
    LBR:_
    Computer Name: bigip5.prd.com
    IP Address: *167.123.2.5*
    Listen Port: *80*
    Invaidation Port: *9401*
    Infrastructure:_
    Computer Name: portal1.prd.com
    IP Address: *167.123.2.6*
Oracle HTTP Server Listening Port: *7777*
    Application Server Control port: *1800*
M1 (Portal & BI Forms Reports Discoverer):_
    Computer Name: portal1.prd.com
    IP Address: *167.123.2.6*
Oracle HTTP Server Listening Port: *7778*
OracleAS Web Cache Listening Port: *80*
OracleAS Web Cache Invalidation Port: *9401*
OracleAS Web Cache Administration Port: *9400*
    Web Cache Statistics port: *9402*
    Application Server Control port: *1810*
M2 (Portal & BI Forms Reports Discoverer):_
    Computer Name: portal2.prd.com
    IP Address: *167.123.2.7*
Oracle HTTP Server Listening Port: *7778*
OracleAS Web Cache Listening Port: *80*
OracleAS Web Cache Invalidation Port: *9401*
OracleAS Web Cache Administration Port: *9400*
    Web Cache Statistics port: *9402*
    Application Server Control port: *1810*
First to create MetadataRepository and then Install Infrastructure and then follow the below steps to install Midtiers
Install and Configure of M1 (Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer):-_
*5.3.1 Step 1*: Install a Single Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer (M1 i.e. portal1.prd.com)
*5.3.2 Step 2*: Configure OracleAS Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer on M1 to Be Accessed Through the LBR
    *1.* Configure LBR
*2.* Follow Section 5.4.1.1 to create the Virtual Host for bigip5.prd.com (LBR) and portal1.prd.com (M1)
*3.* Define a site that matches the virtual host entry for bigip5.prd.com (LBR) on Webcache of M1
*4.* Use OracleAS Web Cache Manager on M1, to map the site bigip5.prd.com (LBR) to middle tier portal1.prd.com (M1).
Follow steps 5 and 6 as per the document
*7.* Configure bigip5.prd.com (LBR) to accept invalidation requests from the OracleAS Metadata Repository on a separate port i.e. 9401
    *8.* Change iasconfig.xml on M1
    *9.* run ptlconfig -encrypt
*10.* Register the URL changes with OracleAS Portal by running ptlconfig -dad portal -wc -site
*11.* No need as it is http only
    *12.* Run the follwoing
    MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1\sso\bin\ssoreg.bat
    -site_name bigip5.prd.com
    -mod_osso_url http://bigip5.prd.com:80
    -config_mod_osso TRUE
    -oracle_home_path MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1
    -config_file MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1\Apache\Apache\conf\osso\osso.conf
    -admin_info cn=orcladmin
    -virtualhost
*13.* Edit targets.xml to enable monitoring of the LBR's front-end host and port settings for OracleAS Portal
    +<Property NAME="PortalListeningHostPort" VALUE=http://bigip5.prd.com:80/>+ and then run
    MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1\bin\emctl reload
    *14.* Test the setup
Install and Configure of M2 (Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer):-_
*5.3.4 Step 4*: Install a Single Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer (M2 i.e. portal2.prd.com)
*1.* As I am installing on wiondows so will not set IASCONFIG_LOC environment variable as I can just copy the iasconfig.xml file from M1 to M2
    *2.* Run OUI on M2
*3.* Clear the selection for OracleAS Portal but don't know if I need to unselect Forms , Reports, Discoverer also.
    *4.* Enable OracleAS Portal
*5.3.5 Step 5:* Configure the New Middle Tier (M2) to Run Your Existing Portal
*1.* Create both virtual hosts as done on M1
    *2.* Copy dads.conf, oradav.conf, cache.conf, web.xml from M1 to M2
*3.* Re-register mod_osso on M2. To do this, perform the following steps by copying osso.conf from M1 to M2
*4.* Synchronize the DCM by using the following command
    MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M2/Apache/Apache/bin/ssotransfer MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M2/Apache/Apache/conf/osso/osso.conf
    *5.* Run dcmctl updateConfig
*6.* add the necessary mod_rewrite and mod_oc4j directives to the httpd.conf and mod_oc4j.conf files respectively
*7.* Restart Oracle HTTP Server on M2
*8.* Access the OracleAS Web Cache Manager on M1 and follow steps 9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 for Webcache seetings and clustering.
Also will appreciate if can get some info on the following:
    *1.*
When I configure the Webcache as per the Document but if I bring down one Midtier Instance the requests are not going to the other Instance that is up and ignores the case whether an instance is down. Any idea how what and where do I need to provide any setting which in case of instance is down routes the requests to the one that is up.
    *2.*
What exactly happens when it says To enable monitoring of the LBR's front-end host and port settings for OracleAS Portal edit target.xml. Is this for LBR to find if an Instance is down or not and route the requests appropriately.
Thanks again for all the help.

    Hi,
The following errors in the trace file:
After call of function SX_OBJECT_RECEIVE ReturnCode: 8
Cannot process message in node, parameters cannot be converted
So the problem is caused by incorrect IMG configuration:
The SX_OBJECT_RECEIVE Returncode: 8 error message is caused by an incorrectly entered path in the RFC IMG connection (SM59) or by not calling MLUNXSND via a script.
The problem is that the mailgw.ini file not being present in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run/mlunxsnd or the <system_directory>/SYS/profile directory. MLUNXSND will check these two directories for a file call exactly mailgw.ini. If MLUNXSND does not find the file the error above is displayed.
I would recommend that you create a shell script per OSS Note 99965 and set the GWCONFIG parameter to point to maligw.ini.

  • Delivery Note Mail Configuration

    hi friends
we have the requirement for mail configuration of delivery document.
    SCENARIO
Once PGI has been done , system send the mail to the customer and our logistics department Mail id.
i have maintain the mail id in the customer master, but  where i maintain the logistics department Mail id.
iam using output type for delivery note, can i use that the existing out put is ZI01 or new out put type is Mail..
what are the configuration required for this setting?
    with regards
    dinesh

    dear,
you would look how the standard type is set up:
and try to do the same for your own type...(did you copy it from the standard one??)
and continue configuration under the Maintain Output Det. for Outbound Deliveries:
also do not forget about the Output condition records - use t-codes VV21, VV22
    regards,

  • Mail Configuration in SAP 4.7 IDES

    Hello,
I have SAP 4.7 IDES at my home. I want to do Mail Configuration to send mails from SAP.  I do have Internet Connection.
I have done the following setting in <b>SCOT</b>.
    1.  In <b>SMTP</b> Node, the checkbox <b>Node in use</b> is checked
But when I send mail using a small ABAP Program it is going to SAPs <b>Inbox</b>.
I was not able to send to my <b>Yahoo mail</b>.
Do suggest if any more settings are required.
What value should be given to <b>Mail Host</b> in <b>SMTP</b> Node ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Shashidhar,
Red icon indicates that the message could not be sent.  In your program, if you are using the FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1, along with put_in_outbox option, and the mail does not come in outbox, then you can be sure that there are some mistakes in SCOT settings.  If the message is there in outbox(in business workplace) and SOST shows a red, then please check your code...if you dont populate the internal tables for your messages correctly, then the mail will not be sent even though you may get sy-subrc = 0 on execution of the mail FM.
    Thanks
    Vijay

  • Mail Configuration in Split DNS Setup

I am a new Snow Leopard Server admin. Was wondering about proper configuration for Mail Service in a split DNS set up. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
Here are the basic configuration details (with questions to follow):
Server's fully qualified domain name: server.domain.private
Server has a private IP address which is NATted behind the public IP address on an Airport Extreme.
Mail Service: Has public IP address on Airport Extreme and uses mail.domain.com as the internet host name. The internet domain name is domain.com
    Questions:
    1. In Workgroup Manager, for the mail configuration tab for each LDAP user, should the mail server be listed as the fully qualified domain name for the server (server.domain.private) or the mail service's internet host name (mail.domain.com)?
    2. In Squirrel Mail server settings, should the IMAP and the SMTP local host names be the fully qualified domain name for the server (server.domain.private) or the mail service's internet host name (mail.domain.com)?
    3. In Server Admin - Mail - Settings - Advanced - Security: Are the options to use or require SSL certs for SMTP and IMAP/POP only for connection between mail clients on the network and the mail server? Do they impact server to server connections for mail traffic going to a recipient outside the network?
    4. In the configuration described above, is the server (server.domain.private) serving as a virtual host for the internet mail host (mail.domain.com)? If so, do we need to enable virtual hosting in Server Admin - Mail - Advanced - Hosting?
    Many thanks for your assistance!

The following (a) assumes you are running internal or using VPN to access the boxes, or (b) assumes you're not using a VPN and are using remote access.
1a: I'd use the internal name here; the direct path, and not sending traffic via public DNS and NAT.
1b: external, though that sends via public DNS and NAT when you're internal, unless you have split-horizon DNS running. If you have split horizon, you'd have example.com inside and outside, but with different IP addresses depending on which DNS server you're using; usually public static IP for your public DNS and private static for private DNS names.
    2a: again, internal.
    2b: again, external
3: Your clients should always use an authenticated path, which may or may not include TLS/SSL. The public path is non-secure, but can and should verify the reverse path for the sending server and that reverse verification can block even your own clients operating from a dynamic remote address.
4: If you're receiving mail for multiple domains, you need be a virtual host or an alias. I tend to go virtual here, as it provides the ability to have name collisions across the domains.
5: If the server is public, then it wants/needs a public DNS translation and the requisite matching forward and reverse DNS, and it wants/needs to be the MX server, or you need to configure it to use an authorized relay. That's usually through your ISP. If you go this route, this is the external path (the "b" path) described above.

  • Mail configuration in SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1

    Hi All,
I am working on SMTP (Mail)Configuration in SAP Solution Manager 7.1. And our mail host is GOOGLE APPS.
Does any one had configured mail in SAP for hosted on GOOGLE APPS?
Does SAP will support this as it is external (mail) server?
I read note 455140, related notes and configured accordingly.
    Steps I followed:
    1. parameters maintained:
    icm/server_port_2 = PROT=SMTP,PORT=25000,TIMEOUT=180
    is/SMTP/virt_host_0 = *:25000;
    2. User maintained: Dialog user with S_A.SCON profile with user address as username@<companyname>.com
    3.Client Assignment: (SICF): a. Host Data:Profile Parameter Number: is/SMTP/virt_host_0
    b. Service data: Client 100, user: username, password: ***, language: EN.
    c. Handler List: CL_SMTP_EXT_SAPCONNECT in the first position
    Saved Changes n Activated.
    4.SAPconnect administration (SCOT):
    a. Default domain: <companyname>.com
    b. Nodes: SMTP Under node:
    Mail Host: smtp.gmail.com
Mail Port: 25 and also tried 587
    In Internet Address Area: *
5.Scheduled periodic Job with SAP&CONNECTALL variant
    6. telnet <HOSTNAME> 25000 is successful
In both cases I am getting error as:
No delivery to ishan.sangai@<companyname>.com, authentication required
    Message no. XS853
    Diagnosis
The message was processed successfully in the SAP system. The mail server that is supposed to receive the message for further processing requires authentication. The SAP system does not support this procedure. As a result, the message was not delivered to recipient ishan.sangai@<companyname>.com.
    Information from External System
    _530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. p1admin@<companyname>.com
    Procedure
The administration settings must be changed. The specified mail server must not request authentication.
    7. I tried to telnet smtp.gmail.com 25 and 587 also
    I am getting following output:
    220 mx.google.com ESMTP ds5sm2193379ibb.5
    HELO <HOSTNAME>
    250 mx.google.com at your service
    HELO <companyname>.com

    MAIL FROM solman_admin@<companyname>.com ENVID=12345
    530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. ds5sm2193379ibb.5
Does we need to talk with Google Apps provider for any modifications to be made for this.
if yes, which changes should I request them?
Please help me to solve this problem.
Please provide links, guides.notes etc. for this scenario
    Thanks & Regards,
