Mail Crashed, now accounts won't load

After deleting some messages from a Gmail account using Mail, the application crashed. Trying to restart Mail, it crashed again.
I decided to shut down and restart, and was presented with the scary black box of death.
After forcing the shutdown (as indicated by the text in the black box), I restarted and opened Mail. Mail brought up the 'Welcome to Mail' prompt as though it was the first time I was using it.
I'm tempted to copy each of the related .plist files from Time Machine, but I won't be able to try that until late tonight. Any hints for bringing Mail back?

Hi Nate,
Seems you have had a kernel panic which is what brings up the black box with multilingual instructions. If that is the case you would first need to fix the cause before you do anything else. You could check here for the kernel panic reasons.

Mail crashed, now it won't re-index

Mail crashed for me a couple of days ago. Then when I reopened it, it would ask me to re-index the envelope index and then it crashes again.
I've tried most of the suggestions on this forum already: removed extraneous files created by previous OS's (mbox, etc), removed IMAP accounts, moving com.apple.mail.plist file, deleting the envelope index file(s) again. I haven't tried reinstalling mail.app yet.
When I can get mail to open by canceling the re-indexing, i can rebuild some mailboxes manually but i have way too many mailboxes to do this. all my mail is still in the user/library/mail folder so i'm not worried about losing it (and i have multiple backups).
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be most appreciated. I've been relegated to checking my email only on my iphone for now.

Try this from MacFixIt as well:
In the case of drive directory damage or problems with permissions, the solution is usually to use Apple's Disk Utility to repair the disk. Of course, you won't be able to perform this operation normally (simply launching the Disk Utility application, located in Applications/Utilities, and initiating a disk repair) if your system will not startup. So two options exist:
* Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) media (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
* Alternatively, you can repair the disk while booted in single user mode if you do not have access to a retail Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) DVD/CD. To startup in single user mode, hold down the "Command" and "S" keys simultaneously at startup. Once properly booted, type the command fsck at the prompt. Repeat these process until no errors appear.

Please help. I have a brother that hacked into my account and reset my password to nothing. My account is the administrative account but i also have one standard account on my pb. Anyways, now when i go to login to admin, it seems as its logging in but all i really get is one of the blue apple display pictures and the cursor. Nothing else appears, not even my normal display picture.
But when i do log onto the other standard account on my pb, everything appears fine.
My admin account won't load, is there anything i can do? Is there a way i can retrieve my files on my desktop(admin) from the standard account? I've tried resetting my password using the apple installation cd, but to no avail.

If you wish to retrieve all of the admin data from the Users folder, you will have to log in as the root user and then change the permissions of all the admin data. Then, you can delete the User from Accounts in System Preferences. After you have obtained the data from the Admin (with another user as the owner of all) and have successfully deleted the admin account, you can create a new admin account and then transfer all of the data back.
I am not exactly sure why the account does not load, but creating a new one will solve this issue.

I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I just updated my operating system to OSX 10.7.4. Now Safari won't load.
I ran disc utilities and it still wont load. It tells me that Safari quit unexpectedly and gives me the option to submit a report of to re-open.
I have tried to find an updated Safari online but only find 5.1.7 updates for Windows.

What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

I had an automatic update and now photoshop won't load

I had an automatic update through yesterday and now photoshop won't load. the organiser loads ok but not the editor. Any ideas?

Try to uninstall the update, and/or do a system restore to the point in time when everything worked.

My aol account won't load on my macbook air.

All my mew messages won't load. I have not had a new message on my macbook air sence the end of april. I can get them on my Ipad and Iphone. I need them on my mac. any suggestions?

It would appear that no App icon will load onto your Mac.
You have to go to iCloud.com - sign in with your account username and password - then you can use Find my iPhone from your MacBook to locate devices such as your phone.
I tried it this way and it works. A little glitchy, but it works.
That is the best I can come up with for now.

Tried to install OSX Mavericks now MBP won't load

Hi all
Last night I tried to install OSX Mavericks on my MBP mid-2010 running Mountain Lion. It downloaded fine and then seemed to install fine. When the message came up saying it was going to restart automatically the spinning wheel hanged, which was the first problem. I switched off the MBP and turned it on again. It now refuses to boot up and stays on the Apple bootup screen with the spinning wheel.
I've tried to restart in recovery mode but this doesn't seem to work. It just goes back to the spinning wheel and there is no progress bar that pops up to indicate the recovery data is being downloaded from the net (I don't have a recovery partition).
I have a backup external hard drive that I can use to restore my MBP and then try upgrading again, but I can't use that until I get into recovery mode.
Is anyone able to help?

Ok so I worked out how to get into recovery mode. Turns out I was doing it wrong! I used an external USB drive to access recovery mode.
I ran disk utility which identified and fixed some errors on the HD. I thought this might solve the problem but when I restarted the same problem occurred. I then restored my time machine backup which thankfully worked.
I tried installing mavericks again! Upon restarting and completing the install, I got the message 'OSX has been installed. Your computer will now restart'. After the countdown had finished I got the beach ball which span eternally again, just like last time. After about 10 mins I did a hard reset and again OSX won't load.
Lame...

My iPhone 5c won't send iMessages, snapchats, email from the Mail app, and it won't load YouTube. Other internet apps like Pandora and Instagram work fine though. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

A couple days ago I first noticed the problem when snapchats would appear on my lock screen but when I opened the app I kept getting the error message that the app was not able to refresh my story. Then the next day I was no longer able to send iMessages, they wouldn't go through and would only reach the second party when I sent them as text messages. Also, YouTube won't load and Mail won't send or receive email. I've already tried restarting my phone but there was no change. At first I thought my network connection was the problem but Instagram, Safari, Vine and Pandora all work perfectly. Any suggestions?

Try this procedure to be sure of a proper restart.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
I would also try: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
