Mail crashes at the start

Question

Whenever I want to start Mail it crashed and I get the following error message:
Dyld Error Message:
Symbol not found: _AOSNotificationCreateSessionPriv

I recently updated to Snow Leopard and since then I have no access to my mail... I can open AddressBook (and there are no Smart Groups in it)
By the way there are no folders for Mail in my Library. That's not a good sign, is it?

Are my mails affected and e.g. deleted?
If there's no Mail folder in Home/Library/ - then yes, they're gone, your backup is hopefully not too old.
If both the Mail folder & that file are gone, it's likely that something very untoward happened, and unless you know what that was, I'd at least verify/repair the disk, and consider an erase/install.
From what I see, any version of 10.6 would have the same file - but if that did help, I'd be suspicious as to what else is wrong/missing. It's not sooo unusual for one file like that to vanish/change during an install/update, but sounds more than that, in your case.
