Mail Crashing when downloading or clicking on a message w/an attachment

Hi
My Mail has developed a problem where it crashes on the 10th message it is downloading. It also crashes when I click on a message in my inbox (or other mailbox) that has an attachment.
First I thought I had a corrupt attachment somewhere, so I went into my webmail to route out the 10th message. That didn't work. i thought maybe my mailboxes were too full. Cleaned them all out. Still not working. Deleted preferences. Verified & repaired Disk & Disk Permissions. Rebuilt the mailboxes. Took all of my messages (mbox files) out of Mail and opened Mail and still couldn't download past the 10th message. I have deleted the first 10 messages waiting to be downloaded (it doesn't seem to matter what message is #10).
The only thing I can think to do next is to reinstall OSX from the disk, but I really don't want to do that. Or start using another mail program! Any other advice please?

Oh geez. Well that's a bit embarassing! Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I ran the Disk Utility "Verify Disk" option and got the following:

Should I just click "repair disk permissions" now?
Thank you so much for trying to help me solve this. I'm seriously having a BAD week and am glad there's people out there who try to help with things like this.
