Mail: cut and paste behaving strangely

When writing a new email, I often rewrite and edit the text using cut and paste, but lately when I paste, the text is placed is completely unexpected places, usually back at the start of the paragraph.
Is there some setting I have inadvertently changed?

As you know, type sizes are uniform - unless you use cut-and-paste. The resulting text will sometimes be smaller, larger, or different than the type-style you began with.
Personally, I'd ignore it. But if you want to fix the font size, you can alter it in the Format Bar on the top of the Mail program. This allows you to change the type, size, and even alter special characters. To make the text uniform, highlight the text you want to alter, open the Format Bar, and change the settings.

Apple Mail Cut and Paste Problem

When I cut and past in Apple Mail font changes to smaller size. Any suggestions?

Mail no longer puts commas on multiple e-mail cut and paste

Occasionally I send out an email to hundreds of e-mail address's.
I generally send 30 at a time.
I copy them from my Bento list and put them into the BCC box.
It the past Mail always put in a comma to separate the address's.
In othe rwords after the .com
This is the first time I am sending them under Maverick and the commas are gone and the warning comes up that the address's is unacceptable.
Obviously because of the comma's missing.
Is their a way to do this, other then going in and putting a comma after every address?

Do you still have the location bar or is there no text visible on the location bar?
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Can't cut and paste in a web based e-mail service. (Not G-mail)

I belong to a membership site that is coaching me on e-mail marketing. I want to cut and paste different bits of information and ad links etc. to emails that I am sending out through the site.
For some reason, Firefox will not allow me to cut and paste when I am in this particular site??
I can cut and paste in Microsoft Word and other programs with no problem. But when I'm on this particular site it's no deal.
This is very frustrating. What can I do to resolve the problem.

I've had this happen a couple of times. Seems it just gets a bit borked sometimes.
Best thing to do is close Pages (or whatever), then do an iOS reset (hold power button then home button till screen goes blank and apple logo comes up and then let go).
Cut copy paste should work again as normal.

How do you cut and paste tables in and out of Excel from either Mail.app or Outlook 2011?

When I try to cut and paste a table generated in Excel for Mac into the body of an email the formatting holds but when I send the table is reduced to one column. Same is true for copying from incoming mail into Excel, when I paste into Excel it is reduced to one column rather than keeping the table format. I have tried using mail.app and went out and Outlook 2011 and both programs have the same issue. The reformatting also happens when I forward an email received from a coworker that contains a table, not just on cut and paste operations.
I need to do this regularly and right now my only option is using my old PC where the cut and paste function keeps formatting between Excel and Outlook just fine. Attaching a pdf or excel file is not an option. There has to be a way to maintain the formatting and being able to extract the tables keeping them intact. Please let me know if you have a solution to maintain this formatting within email programs. Thank you in advance.

Selecting all does not help - the issue is I need a table within an incoming email to be moved to excel, edited and then pasted back into a new email. "Select All" picks up the email headers, signatures, any messages around the table etc so that doesn't work. Also, as pointed out above Excel doesn't have a select all feature to get the tables back into the body of an email.
I just tried again going from Excel into Outlook 2011. No luck. All one column down the left side of the email. All columns are removed and text crammed into one column. Just to check I cut from one Excel document and pasted into another and it retained all formating just fine. It is only in and out of Outlook that seems to be the issue.

I can't cut and paste any images into apple mail

I have had my MacBook Pro for over three years now, without much trouble, but recently I've been unable to send images that I have cut and pasted into Apple mail. I can attach an image that I have saved in my photos and it will send but I can not send an image that I have cut and pasted from the internet.
I am using a gmail pop account and firefox as my primary browser. It took me a few times to figure this out as the image appears to be attached in my mail, but is removed when I send, such that if I have text and an image in an email the recipient receives only the text. Before I hit send I can see both the text and the image.
I have tried starting again in safe mode and repairing permissions. That has not helped. I can login to my gmail regularly and cut and paste images with no problem.
This is exceptionally frustrating.

Hello. In 2012 you answered a query about the following problem:

This problem started with me this morning and it does not happen when I open a test account. The thread stops after you asked if it occurs in the test account, did you ever find a solution to this issue? I am using mac mail 3.6 on system 10.5.8.

When I click on an email link on a website it doesn't open my entourage mail, I have to cut and paste the email address in

When I am looking at a website and it says contact us with an email address, in the past when I click on this my entourage 'new mail' page would open so I could contact them, but know that doesn't happen and I have to cut and paste the email address into entourage manually, sometime this is not possible becuase the website doesn't actually give the email address just a 'click here' option

Cut and paste from Word into Mail

I have an earlier post where I thought I had solved this problem, but now it's back with a twist:
I can cut and paste from Word, but after a few cut and pastes, it seems as if I can only paste the last successful section of text: copying new text from word seems to work, but when pasting into Mail, only the previous section of cut and pasted text appears.
I have checked the preferences within Mail, and they are set for plain text... so there should be no problem, yes?
I also tried quitting and then restarting Mail, but had the same problem...
Any advice?

I just checked the "archiving" and "back-up" suggestions in the Mail "Help" window and got the following info:
Mail preferences and messages
Your Mail accounts, rules, signatures, and Smart Mailboxes preference settings can easily be backed up. Tip: All Mail-related preference files should be backed up or restored as a group.
To back up:
Note: These steps back up Mail preferences, but do not back up Mail messages (emails), although you can do that with the .Mac Backup utility. See below if you want to manually back up Mail messages (mailboxes).
Create a uniquely-named folder on your desktop (or other favorite location). For example, you might call it "Mail Prefs Backups May152005" (adding a date is a good idea).
Quit Mail if it's running.
In the Finder choose Home from the Go menu.
Open the Library folder.
Open the Preferences folder.
Copy the "com.apple.mail.plist" file to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the file. Don't remove the original file from its current location (this file contains your Mail accounts information).
Close the Preferences folder.
Open the Mail folder.
Copy the "MessageRules.plist" file to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the file (this file contains your Mail rules).
Copy the "SmartMailboxes.plist" file to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the file (you guessed it, this file contains Smart Mailboxes information).
Finally, copy the Signatures folder to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the folder. (Your custom signatures, if you use them, are stored here.)
To restore: Just move all of the copies of the files and folders from your uniquely-named folder to the original locations from which they came, as listed above.
It looks like I can save and restore the Mail rules separately from the plist...

You can use Text Edit located in your Applications folder.
For assistance with that app click Help from the Text Edit menu bar.
Or, you can purchase Pages from the App Store.
You can access the App Store from your Apple menu > App Store
Or the App Store icon in the Dock
Or your Applications folder.

Mail crashes when trying to cut and paste

I was trying to cut and paste some messages from one of my mailboxes to another mailbox, and Mail crashes every time and my messages were deleted! I can copy and paste, just not cut and paste. Has anyone else experienced this? I am currently on Mail 7.2, Mac Book Pro, OSX 10.9.2, which is the latest. I really wanted to save these emails, too!

Adobe Acrobat is the most powerful tool to edit PDF files. But its prices are extremely high and operating are complicated. Why not use a converter to convert your pdf to editable word and extract what you need easily. I uses Adreamsoft PDF to Word Converter and it perform well. You can have a free trial and sincerely hope it can do you some favor.

Mail quitting when I do a cut and paste

Mail quits many times when I am attempting to do a cut and paste -- from either within that eMail or from one eMail message to another.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

When an application crashes (i.e. quits unexpectedly), the system writes information about the state of the application at the moment of the crash to a log file. That information is called a crash report and it makes troubleshooting easier. In order to find and paste the relevant part of the crash report here, proceed as follows:
1. Open ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Mail.crash.log. The whole crash log appears in a Console window (you can also open that file with any text editor). It may contain many crash reports. We only want the latest, which is located at the bottom of the file.
2. Look for a line that begins with “Date/Time:” as close to the bottom as possible, and another that says “Thread N Crashed:”, where N is a number. Select everything from the “Date/Time:” line to the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:”. Copy that text and paste it here. Do not post the whole crash log, and do not include anything beyond the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:” either, just the relevant part.

Pages: Cutting and pasting from E-mail?

Hi,
When I cut and paste more than one page of text from my e-mail (AOL), only the first page of text will paste to my Pages blank page.
So, if I want to cut and paste, say, 5 pages of text from an e-mail to a Pages document, only the first page will cut and paste. Even though the entitre document in the e-mail highlights when I select it for pasting. But when I go to the Pages page where I have pasted it, only one page of text is there.
Why? Any answers? Thanks.

This happens with may word processors, not only Pages.
Paste first into TextEdit, and save file. Can see the whole of it? If yes, import it into Pages or even copy-paste from TextEdit file. Both should work.
The pasted text is indeed there, just there is a frame on the first page only, and you cannot see more than a page.

I can't cut and paste

I want to cut and paste on my web page but the functions are not available and grayed out. I modified the user_pref as directed substituting the web page url for modzilla.org (actually cut and pasted exactly using notepad with no success. The modifications are saved in the file. which is have provided.

Depending on which email client software you use
the files should be in 'your home folder' library, esp.
if you use Mail application.... ~/Library/Mail
Since you don't specify what mail application,
that would most be associated with the file.
I notice there are some items to the right of your post
where it says "more like this' so that may be worth a
look to see if similar issues were answered. Also, the
Help viewer in your system is a searchable database.
Seems that google also brings up fair information, too.
Do you have a complete bootable clone of your entire
Mac system on an externally enclosed hard disk drive?

I need to make a copy of an entire email, including the header w/the sender's info and time, etc. to insert into a letter, etc. How can I do this w/out cutting and paste and doing the header separately from the text.

Another option you could use is a screen capture using Grab.
Activate Grab, then shift + command + w (for a window screen shot). Then confirm the window selection and click the mail message.
