Mail deletes two messages at once?

When I try to delete just one message, mail always deletes an adajancent message.
I am not going fast. I have adjusted my mouse and click speed every which way. I have tried going as slow as possible.
It just seems to randomly delete and extra message. Oddly, this does not happen everytime.
Ideas?

Can't do it in the same window (folder).
Here's what you can do.
Make a new mailbox (folder) in the sidebar by selecting "New Mailbox..." from the Mailbox menu. Name it something appropriate.
Do your first sort by date in the regular folder you use. Then select all of the ones of the appropriate date and move them into the new folder (drag and drop). In the new folder, sort by attachment.
Once done, you can move the subset back into the regular folder.

  • How can I trash and delete all messages at once in my Mail account?

I would like to be able to do the equivalent of a 'select all" and move all the messages in my Mail account into the trash, rather than having to move them one by one. Is it possible to do that?

Sorry, but it's not possible to select all in the mail app to delete all messages at once. One at a time is the way that you have to go.

How do I delete all messages at once on my ipad?

iOS 7 does not give you a way to delete all your text messages at once.
While you can delete multiple messages within a conversation thread (tap and hold a message bubble, then click more; you'll see it), there's no way to delete more than one conversation thread at once. You have to slide each thread and then tap delete.

  • When I send an email message, my Mail shows two messages outgoing instead of just the one I am sending.  What is going on?

When I send an email message, my Mail shows two messages outgoing instead of just one.
What is going on?  Is it possible some "spyware" has crept in?

There is an email address on my website that automatically forwards to my "regular" email address, but this problem predates setting up that website.  My primary email is a bellsouth account (AT&T) which switched to a Yahoo mail-supported service....so based on your comments, perhaps that is why the activity is looking weird.

  • In yahoo mail, can I delete multiple messages at once?

For example, I'd like to try to clean up my mailbox.  On an MS OS, I can do a search on "sears", everything with that word is displayed.  I can then delete them all at once, usually with just one click.  Is there something similar on a MacBook Air?  Thanks!

    Hey,
    To delete them locally:
    *IMAP account [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Deleting_messages_in_IMAP_accounts]
To delete them on the server:
This will depend on your settings on the server.

  • Can I sort messages in Mail by TWO headers at once?

I'm trying to find some photos that someone sent me in the past month.  However, I don't remember the person's name.  So I'm trying to sort the messages by 'attachment,' and then by 'date.'
However, when I do this, the 2nd sort doesn't keep the original 'Attachment' sort order.  So what I need to be able to do is sort by two criteria at once.
Is it possible to do this?

Can't do it in the same window (folder).

  • Improvement: Delete many messages in once time

WHy aren't we able to remove many messages in once time. The only way we can do on latest iOS is to Delete one by one, it takes much time to do for all conversasion that we want to swipe out!!

Good question, but since this forum is user to user, I'm sure no one knows what Apple designs things exactly this certain way, so good luck getting an answer

  • Deleting all messages at once

how do you delete all messages/pictures at once, instead of one by one?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To delete texts/emails etc just highlight the date while in the message folder and hit menu>delete prior - you can also hold the shift button and highlight the list and menu delete that way.  Delete prior is easiest.

  • Mac Mail deleted inbox messages from yahoo mail, how to get them back?

I recently started using the Mac Mail client with my yahoo-plus email account.
What Mac Mail did was delete ALL inbox messages from my yahoo account, after one week from importing them to Mac Mail.
The inbox messages can still be found in the Mac Mail inbox, but not in yahoo's inbox.
I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these deleted messages back to my yahoo inbox.
Also, I was wondering about the sync feature on the Mac Mail and what will actually happen if I use it. Does it apply to mail messages, or to address book and calendar entries?
I would appreciate you help on this issue.

The Yahoo server did exactly what you Mail program told it to do.
Mail/Preferences/Account/Advanced - This setting is adjustable for each mail account.
I didn't know about this feature until it was too late. I have already unchecked it for future emails.
I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these deleted messages back to my yahoo inbox.
Not Really, you could forward them to your account, after you've told your mail program not to delete the emails at all, but they will show up as being from you instead of the original sender. The originals at Yahoo have been dumped and probably purged. It would take an IT manager at Yahoo to manually replace the emails, not much chance of that.
I've already asked yahoo to "restore" my inbox to a day ago. That should help me with retrieving some of the messages back, I hope.
Also, I was wondering about the sync feature on the Mac Mail and what will actually happen if I use it. Does it apply to mail messages, or to address book and calendar entries?
The sync feature refers to IMAP email accounts like .Mac or .Me or an Imap gmail account. I didn't think Yahoo offered IMAP email accounts.
Apple's MobileMe membership will let you sync your Mail, AddressBook, Calender, personal website with iWeb, etc.
"MobileMe is a service that pushes new email, contacts, and calendar events over the air to all your devices. So your iPhone, Mac, and PC stay in perfect sync."
    http://www.apple.com/mobileme/
I wanted to use Mac Mail, see if I liked it or not, then decide to get a MobileMe account. However, this is still a side note, since my yahoo account is my main email client.
You seem to be very well informed, and I was wondering if I can ask you to clarify a point for me. Do you know how to archive the inbox in the Mac Mail?
And thank you for answering my queries.

  • I just watched Mail send two messages I did not initiate.

When I tried to see what on earth they could be, as I was only trying to send one message and had no others waiting, I had no Outbox listed on the left. Under Mailbox -> Go To -> Outbox {command 2}, it was greyed out and wouldn't even let me see what I was sending, there are no apparent records of any other emails beyond the one I was trying to send. I'd turned off airport and was hooked up to an ethernet connection only to be able to send this email. What could that have been? I watched a progress bar show two and then three messages being sent out before I interrupted it pulling out the plug, but have no idea what or if I stopped anything. Is there a way I can find out what it was sending, other than the Sent folders which are playing innocent?

If you were composing a message and your Mail preferences for the account are configured to save drafts on the server, then what you observed was simply your draft being sent to the server's Drafts folder.

  • 6288 deleting all messages at once

Does anyone know how to delete all read text messages all at once instead of one at a time in the 6288?

Check your menu for In box if there's option for mark/unmark(all or individual) then you can delete many or all.

  • Created new folder, Mail deletes my messages

I use an IMAP server (based around Groupwise). I use Apple Mail to service it, usually without problems. However, tonight (UK):
    1. I created a new folder (in fact in another folder) in Mail on my IMAP server.
    2. I moved some mail messages there.
    3. Hey presto, the messages have disappeared from Mail and the server!
I then dimly remembered that I'd seen this before. I quite Mail (this seems to be an essential step for getting functioning IMAP folders) and reopened it. The messages were still not there. I could however now successfully copy new messages into the new folder.
I have searched for the messages with Spotlight, synchronised, rebuilt the mailbox, generated a new envelope, looked in trash, but the messages have gone into limbo.
I have, more ominously, even used Groupwise Webmail and can find no account of them there.
Is there anywhere these messages could be, and anything else I could do to get them back?

If the messages are not on the server and you don’t have a backup, but they were cached locally (which depends on your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Keep copies of messages setting), you may try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.
