Mail disappeared after archiving to iCloud

I archive my important emails to icloud. Just now I selected a few mails and moved them to archive on icloud. They disappeared. I cannot find them in any mailbox. Please help how to retrieve them??? I thought the idea of icloud was to save mails securely. Is there any way to access emails stored on icloud?

They should've been identical as I kept them in sync. But appears like iPhone has gone out of sync recently for mail only. Calendar and contacts are alike everywhere. Will have to do a deep analysis to check what exactly is happening.
A copy of my email goes to gmail. But there could be emails sent using cloud.com email address which aren't stored anywhere else. I still don't understand why an option to archive in iCloud or send email as iCloud is given when it isn't even reliable.
I think you need to slow down and try to understand how iCloud works.
The mail part is a standard Imap account, if it is providing different sets of data from client to client it is NOT working.
How does a copy of your email go to Gmail.

Are you sure that you are talking about iCloud, there is no mechanism available for you to 'keep them in sync' so tell me, what are you doing to 'keep them in sync'?
Contacts and Calendars are DAV servers and according to you they are working, so the issue is with email only? Correct?
You still have not answered the question I asked about whether you backup or not?

  • Where is mail stored after archive and install?

    Hello All,
I need to know where my old mails are stored after archive and install. To give a bit of background... This is a work computer. Its a MacMini which came with 10.4 installed. Before I joined the company boss upgraded to Leopard and thats what I have been using all this time. Recently it blue screened and I had to do an archive and install after trying various other options.
I only had the original install discs with 10.4 in them and not the Leopard discs. Since I needed to my computer up and running, I used those discs and did an archive and install.
I have all my old documents, etc but I couldn't open mail from the previous systems folder because its a different OS.
Is it possible to retrieve my old emails without having to install Leopard again?
    Any help is appreciated.

When I started the computer up, instead of the login page with the account names coming up, there was just a blue screen. There are lots of articles that gave suggestions to try but nothing worked so I had to archive and install.

  • Mail disappears after read

I had restore my iPad and now when I get mail it disappears after it is displayed briefly in the list. It seems to be happening on my iPhone as well. This did not happen on the pad until the restore. It is an imap account and I have checked all of the settings.

If I have push on the message disappears. If I change it to fetch it doesn't.t happen. The downside it I will have to schedule it to poll at intervals or open the program to poll the servers. I can not imagine why anyone would want their messages to disappear after 30 seconds. It takes my brain a minute to read the message and think about it.

  • .Mac mail disappearing after while. (It is not set to.)

I have the latest updates to Tiger and Mail.
That's the case. Mail from .Mac seems to be disappearing after while. I have it set up to store messages on the server (both sent and deleted). I started having a sneaking suspicion when I would go to check for mail that I had previously sent or deleted and couldn't find any of it. Stuff that I KNEW should be there. It appears like Mail is deleting messages that are a month old—even though I have it set to never do this. Any ideas? I would like to stop losing my mail, or not be forced to store it all on my Mac for viewing to prevent it from being lost on the server.
Is there some other setting besides in Mail. Maybe one on .Mac itself? Because I did not find it.
    Thanks for any help.

FYI - you posted in the Mac OS X v10.3 & earlier Mail & Address Book discussions.
Have you confirmed settings at Mail > Preferences > Accounts under the Mailbox Behaviors tab for the account preferences?

    '''Download the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Mozilla Search Reset]''' {web link}
This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up
and then resets your search preferences and home page
to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This
affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

  • Mails disappearing after MacOSX 10.8.4 update

Following the update to MacOSX 10.8.4, all new emails incoming from any accounts (i.e. not iCloud only) are disappearing. This affects the Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc. With Mail app shutdown, mails are coming correctly (not disappearing) on the iDevices (I can't check on the Mac...).
Thank you a lot for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Charles

Thank you a lot! Disabling the rules is the solution (I can't tell whether Apple's Junk Filtering has an effect as mine is Intego's own set of rules (accordingly shown as a specific rule)).
This precise point should be further investigated if someone has the same problem and uses the built in Junk Filtering.
Here's what happened to the 200+ emails I received since yesterday (bad for zero inbox ). They all seem to have ended up in the Spam folder.
Re-building the mail boxes didn't have any effect (just mentioning, so that anyone who would read saves the time it takes...).
After disabling all rules, nothing seemed to have happened, but in actual fact all files started to show up in the Spam folder (it was empty before, I've checked numerous time).
Now, here's the strange point (to me at least): files started to appear account per account. First GMail (sorry guys... You know there has to be an account for all the junk newsletters ), then my personal domain, and eventually iCloud (possible reason: they were created in the reversed order (i.e. iCloud first)). But files from an account wouldn't appear before I moved those of the preceding account back to the Inbox (i.e. I first thought to have only recovered one account... The GMail, you understand my disappointment...). Accordingly, make sure to move the first files you find in the Spam, to see if something else isn't coming .
Voilà. Linc, Thank you again , you rock!
I hope this might help others with the same issue.

  • Duplicate mail accounts after converting to icloud from mobile me

Anyone else having problems with their iPhone 4s after converting from mobile me to iCloud?
I did the conversion and everythign works, except I cannot get my old mobile me mail account to go away on my iPhone.
I've deleted it from the accounts section of settings, but I still have an old mobile me mailbox that is showing the exact same thing as my iCloud mailbox.
It's like a mirror mail account that won't go away!
I just did a complete factory reset and updated to iOS 5, but it's still showing up.

Many thanks for the suggestion, I copied the messages in the iCloud mailboxes to new boxes "On My Mac".
As suggested here I then unchecked the "Mail and Notes" item in the iCloud pane in System Prefs on the iMac, iCloud then disappeared from my mailboxes. I then unchecked the "Enable this Account' box in Mail Prefs for the Mobiel Me a/c.
After checking the "Mail and Notes" item in the iCloud pane in System Prefs the iCloud boxes reappeared in Mail. I then deleted the Mobile Me a/c in Mail.
Seems a bit of a rigmarole! but it worked!

  • Third party AU audio units disappear after archive and install

    hey everybody.
so after an forced unfortunate archive and install, my third party AU have disappeared from DP and Logic. they run fine in standalone. how can i get them back into logic?

Move them back from your old archive, or reinstall.
When you do an archive and install, your old system gets removed and a new fresh system put in place. If you had plugins in the system components directories, obviously they aren't gonna be there on a new fresh system.

  • Why have my Address Book contacts disappeared after uploading to iCloud?

I am using my MacBook Pro w/OSX Lion.
After having many, many problems with contacts, calendars and bookmarks in MobileMe, migrating to iCloud, encountering a huge mess of duplicates and even completely missing contacts I decided to start over.  So I disabled the iCloud account on all Macs and IOS devices.  I then ensured all contacts, calendars and bookmarks were deleted from the MacBook Pro.  I then used the Address Book export I'd made just prior to the migration from Mobile Me to iCloud and imported this onto my MacBook Pro.  I've completely gone though the Address Book and removed or merged duplicates and cleaned up all contacts with detail.  I backed up my Address Book again at this point.  I then logged into iCloud.com using my original Apple User ID (NOT the MobileMe/me.com account which I'm going to vacate) and ensured that there were no contacts in the cloud and I deselected the default calendars here as well.  My intention was/is to begin by starting small and deal only with the MacBook Pro Address Book and iCloud Contacts.  So after I confirmed there is no data in the cloud I go into the MacBook Pro System Preferences > iCloud > Account Details ensuring I was signed out of the me.com user and entered my original Apple ID I've had since I started using iTunes many years back.  I quit the browser and the Address Book and verified the non me.com user was saved under the System Preferences.  I then selected Contacts under these iCloud System Preferences and I was asked If I wanted to merge my contacts with those in the cloud.  Because there were no contacts in the cloud I selected yes.  The spinning indicator indicated that the upload was occurring.  Now, there are no contacts in the cloud and the Address Book contacts are missing.  Thinking that my doing the Address Book backup may have removed all the data from the Address Book, I deselected Contacts in the iCloud System Preferences, reimported the backup into Address Book that I'd just done, confirmed the contacts I just imported appear in Address Book and I reselect Contacts in the iCloud System Preferences and again I get the spinning indicator.  Again, there are no Contacts in the cloud and the contacts are missing from Address Book.
What the heck am I doing wrong?  I've simplified my original attempt with iCloud by concentrating my efforts to just contacts AND I'm only using the MacBook and the iCloud cloud and I've still got problems.  I thought this approach would narrow down where the issue lies and allow me to monitor the process more easily but I seem to be worse off than before I'd tried to resolve the initial migration problems because now I have no contacts.
I'm new to Macs so if you have a solution, please help and please give specifics because I'm still learning the structure and don't understand a lot of the acronyms and jargon.
    Thanx

If you have a back up file, I'd try turning off iCloud contact syncing on all macs from system preferences > iCloud –
    DONE
as well as any secondary accounts from system preferences > mail, contacts and calendars –
DONE (this was confusing but I figured out that you meant System Preferences > Mail, Contacts & Calendars which is what you said in lowercase.  For some reason without the capital letters I didn't clue in that Mail, Contacts and Calendars was an icon option under the System preferences and so I overlooked it multiple times. I see your use of "secondary account" which I note used also as a term in the User Tip link you referred me to view.  Although, I still don't understand what this 'secondary' account is, I'm not interested in any secondary accounts because I've got my hands full with just iCloud for now. I did delete all accounts under the Mail, Contacts & Calendars).
If you have any iOS devices I'd do the same on those as well. –
DONE (not even introducing other Macs or IOS devices to the equation until I get the iCloud and MacBook syncing contacts correctly)
I'd log into iCloud.com and check my Address Book was empty and empty it if necessary –
    DONE (it was empty already)
and then delete all contacts from every Address Book on every device
             DONE
Then I'd turn Address Book syncing back on –
DONE (This assuming that by ‘turn back on’ you mean System Preferences > iCloud and check marking the box next to Contacts)
and import my contacts from the backup file –
DONE (This assuming that by ‘import my contacts’ you mean importing the previously exported Address Book back up file back into the Address Book. I see contacts listed in the Address Book when I did this.)
No syncing seems to happen at this point?
you might also take a look at this User Tip, to ensure you understand the differences between the different accounts in Address Book before adding the contacts back.
I did read this but understand is probably not an accurate term for my interpretation of what I read.  I get that On My Mac will not sync with what is in the cloud and iCloud will sync with the cloud.  In Address Book under the single head red ribbon I see neither account heading that is mentioned.  I also was not asked at the time of import to select which ‘account’ I’d like the contacts setup under.
    A) If there is no indication as to what Address Book account the contacts fall under, how does on find this out?
    User Tips states
Your Address Book when synced with iCloud will have more than one account.
My assumption is that I'm not synced with iCloud if I don't see either account option listed. I also would think that if I'm not synced and thus don't have more than one account then perhaps the All Contacts default to an On My Mac account but don't reflect an account heading of 'On My Mac’ as seen on the screen shot of the User Tips example.
    Furthermore, User Tips also states
    Default Account
Your 'default'account is set in address book preferences > general (the option is only displayed if you have more than one account).
It would seem relevant to list which account your defaulted to even if you do not have more than one account because elsewise how are you supposed to know which account it is setup under?
    B)  How do you change which ‘account’ your contacts are setup under if they are under the wrong account?
Assuming again that my contacts are ‘On My Mac’, then how do I move them to the ‘iCloud’ account of which is not listed?
    C)  Will any of this be affected by groups?
The five listings under All Contacts are groups that I set up as a sort of invitation list (so Christmas cards is one I’d probably setup this time of year).  Although this question is secondary I would like to confirm that my interpretation of groups is accurate.  I understand groups to be a sort of tagging of selected contacts from All Contacts but that the contacts in these groups are not duplicates to those in All Contacts. Is this correct?  I ask because the User Tips states
To quickly duplicate a contact, drag it to your desktop, navigate to 'Groups', select the account you wish to duplicate to, double click the contact on your desktop.
When reading this tip, I interpret that dragging and dropping contacts from All Contacts into a group would be similar to what is suggested in this tip which would indeed ‘duplicate’ the contact.  I did drag and drop when I setup my groups so I’m concerned I duplicated the contacts in Address Book.  I do not see two copies of the same contact under All Contacts though.
By the way, don't take it personally –
I don't, I have reading difficulties galore and am happy to accommodate if I can.  I hope this is better. Helping you helps me if you're not struggling to read when thinking about the solution.
    Thanx

  • IPhone reminders disappeared after syncing to iCloud

I have the ios5.1 on my iPhone, and have been using the reminders app with no problem up until I synced my iPhone to iCloud. After doing so, my original reminders disappeared. I can find them in the search feature in the app, but when I click on it so I can edit or mark completed, it disappears again. They wont show up in the reminders list. This is very frustrating because some of my old reminders pop up everyday because they were set as daily reminders...however, because I can't find them in the reminders list, I can't edit them so that they would stop. Please help!
    Thanks

I have this problem on the iPod Touch. I wish someone could provide a clue. I upgraded to ios6, and now I have a badge on Reminders that says 37! Who knows what it's counting? I have three visible reminders that are due, so I guess it's counting all the ghosts as well.

then you are in the wrong directory:
use "cd .." to go out of a directory or "cd 'folder name'" to go in
    go to the user folder:
    "your-MacBook-Pro-4: ~'userfolder'$ "
    example shown in terminal:
    "Administrators-MacBook-Pro-4:~ test$"
The defaultlist is probably etended in Mavericks and the pointer for the information aims at the wrong address. Apple - such a "NullPointerException" should have been detected in a normal SubVersion test.
Good Luke Robert (not just because of the yearly floods in Passau)

  • Mail "disappears" after a period of inactivity

Since upgrading to Leopard a strange problem is occurring.
On returning to iMac after period of inactivity mail appears "open" in dock and menus appear at top of screen. However, the application just won't display anything at all. Only solution is to shut down and reboot.
Anyone else come across this? Any ideas?

I think this is what might be happening :
I think in both cases, when he is playing it overnight , his machine might be going to sleep , and his network connection to server migth be goign off. Since network connection goes off, NetConnection would be closed resulting in NetStream going out of scope which results in NaN for NetStream.time.
You can basically display error message when you connection goes down by using watching for NetConnection.Connect.Closed message in your NetConnection handler. And you can either assign display of NetStream time visually as 0 instead of NaN for better user experience.

  • Mail Disappeared After Shut Down

A retired friend bought a new 21.5 inch iMac 5 months ago and twice in the past week his mail has completely disappeared. Fortunately, there is a TM backup and I have used that once to restore everything for him. The first event also took away all Address Book and iPhoto contents.
Yesterday, he was unable to Quit or Force Quit Mail. He shut down and restarted and once again all his Mail content has gone west.
Does Mail need to be reinstalled?
    All suggestions welcome.

Ah, forgot, silly Apple has hiden the home Library folder in 10.7 & up...
Access User ~/Library Folder in OS X Mountain Lion & OS X Lion
Use “Go To Folder” and Open ~/Library/ Directly
All you need to do is hit Command+Shift+G from the Mac desktop  (or Finder > Go > Go to Folder) and type in ~/Library to temporarily access the Library directory in the Finder. When you are done, close this window and it will no longer be visible.

This is strange...I did an archive and reinstall to clear up some problems that appeared on my new iMac after using the setup assistant. The process worked fine EXCEPT...iMovie and iWeb were deleted from the iMac and were not reinstalled!
These seem to be the only "iApps" that were affected. iTunes is still there, as well as iPhoto, iCal, etc. I even have aliases that still point to the missing apps.
How can I reinstall these? Thanks.
