Mail disappears in exchange mailbox

My mail keeps disappearing on an exchange account -- all other mail accounts work fine. I have tried rebuilding, force quitting and restarting mail, rebooting the computer in both regular and safe mode.
I have seen many other discussions on the same issue, but nothing has worked for me so far. Mail is version 6.5.

Exchange Mailbox disappears

On first installing Leopard and then at random, the Sent Mail mailbox of an Exchange account disappeared. Can be rebuilt only be sending a new mail and then re-synchronising. Other mailboxes (including the Inbox of the same account) are not affected. Why does this happen and can it be prevented?

I also have just experienced this - sent items from my exchange account disappearing. I had to re-download them all from the server. Inbox was unaffected. I also experience my exchange mailbox folders missing when I first open mail (eg. the section in the sidebar that includes all other folders such as Public folders, and manually created mailboxes on exchange) - but then they reappear after a while.

What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!

How do I setup shared Exchange mailbox with Mail (Yosemite)?

we use Office 365 hosting for our mails. Setting up my default Exchange account is no problem at all, just provide e-Mail address, password and let auto discover finish the rest through System Preferences -> Internet accounts.
But I also need to setup two shared Exchange mailboxes. If I setup the e-mail address of the shared mailbox. I tried to set it up as follows:
System Preferences -> Internet Accounts -> Add Exchange Account

Password <own AD password>
As expected: Internet Accounts couldn't log in to the Exchange server "autodiscover-s.outlook.com". Make sure the email address and password you entered are correct. Then, enter your user name and click Continue.

So to add an additional account to access a different mailbox on the Exchange sever with the same credentials as the personal mailbox is apparently no option any more. On the other hand I haven't found any option to add according folders from other mail address inboxes to my personal account in any of the Preferences from Mail (Yosemite, 8.1) or any menu item, that would allow me to add the inboxes of other shared Exchange server mail boxes I have access to.
The same is true for Mail (iOS 8.1.2), thus I have not found a solution to configure the shared mailboxes on my iOS devices either.
Trying to setup an "Add Other Account" using IMAP did not succeed either. It always uses my personal mailbox, because I only have my personal user to access the shared mailbox and downloads my personal inbox instead of the one of the shared mailbox.
Do I really have to fall back to Outlook 2011 Mac to be able to use this feature and miss out on all the hands off features from Yosemite?

i too use office 365 shared mailboxes and it took me a long time to work out to add them to my ios mail app , this worked for me :
start setting up a normal exchange account , put your shared email address in the username and you main email account password.
it will fail to do the auto-discover thing , but when you click on continue it eil allow you to manually enter the details :
Name : < whatever>
email : <your shared email a/c address i.e [email protected] >
description : <whatever>
incoming mail
Host name : outlook.office365.com
username : <your main email address / shared i.e [email protected]/myshared >
password : < your main account password >
outgoing mail server:

this worked fine on every IOS device i own, but somehow it doesn't work with my Yosemite mail , so if anybody can help with Yosemite mail it would be much appreciated.

Sending mail smtp vs exchange without outlook mailbox opened

We have an application published via Citrix Xenapp 6.5 on win2k8r2 servers which uses server-side Outlook for composing/sending mail. The user does a one time setup of the Outlook profile through a Citrix published Outlook.exe. After the setup
their Outlook profile is then retained in their Citrix/roaming profile and Citrix published Outlook.exe is no longer opened directly. When the user clicks an 'email' button in the application, an Outlook send/compose window from the server appears with
the contents attached and ready to be mailed. Up until now employees were using Exchange mailboxes and this functioned perfectly. Hit 'send' on that compose window and the message would get sent. We are now migrating most mailboxes
to IMAP and have found that in order for the Citrix Outlook instance to be able to send its mail via SMTP, a server-side session of the Outlook.exe mailbox has to actually be opened and not just the compose window otherwise the messages appear to send but
are actually just sitting in the outbox. No errors. Once Outlook mailbox is opened, the messages get sent out. We dont want users to have to open up a separate Citrix Outlook instance as this creates confusion with their usual client-side
Outlook and it's unwanted for limited resources in Citrix sessions to go towards sync'ing mailboxes. Seeing the same behavior with Outlook 2007 sp1 and Outlook 2013 sp1 x86. Why would this work with Exchange but not SMTP and can anyone suggest
workarounds?
I'm not knowledgeable with vbs/vba but i was considering whether it's possible to launch outlook hidden from the user or to script initiation of send/recv session on the mailbox at scheduled intervals without outlook open, thinking that might send what's
in the outbox. these are some areas i've looked into but havent gotten results yet -

When you use a SMTP server, you need Outlook open to send mail - the spooler has to have time to load and send the message. When you use Exchange, outlook hands the message off to exchange and exchange sends it.
It's not possible to launch outlook hidden using a different profile - you can only use one profile at a time. There is a utility called ExtraOutlook that can open two profiles that might work for you - most people say it works, but AFAIK, it won't open
the second profile in a hidden state.

Mail disappears out of only óne mailbox

I have an iMac and use OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). From time to time almost all the mail disappears just out of óne mailbox.
Thanks to Time Machine I can restore the content of the box.
I want to know how it can happen. I also want to know how to prevent this trouble.

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

Establish mail flow from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

I am currently using Exchange 2007 into three sites in three cities and two of the sites are connected to Internet sending and receiving emails via Edge transport servers.
Now I am planning to upgrade to exchange 2013 CU1. I don't find any documentation on how to establish mail flow between Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013. Will it be automatic or do i need to create specific connectors between them?

Was this question answered. We're in the same situation now as we're upgrading to Exchange 2013 from 2007. The latest CU certainly helped. Initially the test mailboxes on Exchange 2013 couldn't email each other - This was resolved with CU7 and
using "Custom Settings" - manually entered IPs for DNS in the Exchange Admin Center "DNS Lookups".
Issue at the moment Test mailboxes on Exchange 2013 cannot email mailboxes on 2007 or visa-versa and mail from external sources queues on the 2007 box.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Mail 4.1, Exchange, and Duplicate messages in inbox

Using Snow Leopard and Mail 4.1 to access an exchange account and a gmail account. The problem ONLY occurs in the Exchange account. My messages are all duplicating. Only in Mail are they duplicating. I've checked Outlook Web Access and Outlook on my windows machine - no duplicates there. Didn't start out this way, and the problem came once before, stopped, and now it has returned. If I delete one copy of the message, both messages get deleted. Is there someway to rebuild the mail inbox? or resync?
Also, tried creating a new folder on the exchange server, copying all messages from inbox to the new folder, then moving back. In the temp/new folder, the messages were single. After copying back to Inbox - they doubled again. And again, only in Mail. The msgs remain single in Outlook, OWA, iPhone, Blackberry.
UPDATE: I highlighted the exchange mailbox and went to MAILBOX > REBUILD. Erased everything but only in Mail. The messages are still on the Exchange server and can be seen by OWA, Outlook, iphone and blackberry. New messages are going to the Mail Exchange inbox but old messages are gone. Any way to get them back?

I could never have known that the default setting on mac's mail would be "remove copy from server after retrieving a message".
now, that's a valid point. this is not exactly advertised and mail setup assistant does not tell you anything about it. you can voice your concern to apple about this issue here

there isn't anything you can do now. it's not up to apple at this point. you just can't upload messages to a POP email server. it does not matter what email client or what operating system you are using.

Need to send mail from Microsoft Exchange 2007 account(different from Gmail) on behalf of another Gmail ID. How to configure that ?

I need to configure exchange account (2007) such that I can send a mail from my Exchange account but at the receiver end it looks like it was sent from ([email protected]).
Both the accounts are my accounts.
I need this because I do not have access to my Gmail account from place where I access the internet and I need to send the mails from my Gmail account only.

So you want to spoof your e-mail address.
You can make your Exchange server send as any address you want. Just create a different mailbox with that address as the primary (reply) address. It has to be a different account.
However, be aware that many systems to which you send such mail to will bounce it as suspected spam because they'll detect that your server is sending mail from Gmail but your server is not Gmail.

Strange things happen: mail appears in "drafts"/mail disappears after "send"/title-content doesn't match
I'm having some Problems with mails that get worse and worse
First thing I remember is, that I found mails in "Drafts" that weren't drafts, but just mails I received or mails I sent.
They were kind of aliasses of the original. Deleting them in "Drafts" deleted the original in its Mailbox too.
Re-indexing Mail (removing the envelope.index files etc.) fixes it, but it reappears very soon
Next thing:
When I send an email, it happens sometimes, that it is not send (no sending sound, no copy in the "Sent"-Folder). It just "disappears"
Re-indexing Mail fixes this: When Mail is ready with reindexing, it sends those messages (kind of funny, when I do this reindexing after some weeks... kind of...) - but it will reappear
The third thing happens more seldom:
When I klick on the emails name in the list, I get another Mail shown in the Previewbox. Doubleklicking the mail shows the wrong mail too.
Re-indexing fixes this, - but it will reappear
Well after having re-indexd my Mail library 10 times this week, I want another solution for this...

Things I've already done:
Reindexing mail, as I already wrote (Quit mail, removing the files "Envelope Index" and "Envelope Index-1", and the folder starting with "Mac-", then start Mail again, that tells me to klick "ok" for reimporting the mail)
I deleted a bunch of emails with attachements, so there are just a few with attachment now.
I emptied the "Sent" folder and put those old emails in 3 Folders (each of them is containing about 500 mails now)

This is not a security risk - a setting change you should make.
1. Take a look in settings - i message and see what the 'recieve at' addresses are declared. If you do not want to see phone messages on the pad, clear that number out of there - and just use your e mail address.
2. Since you used to have an i phone, that device is likely still registered go to your i tunes account and de register the device.

My first issue is that i have to also generate a dsmod
command that i put into a batch file and execute on the server. It
looks like:

E-mail disappeared....

OS X 10.4, Mail 2.1.3
I have 3 POP e-mail accounts. Plus several folders on Mac.
All e-mails from Oct 2007 until Sept 2008 have disappeared. From all accounts and folders. Older e-mail still okay. I have not backed up my hard disk since last August (whoops) when I moved from my iBook to a Macbook Pro.
I have tried re-indexing mail. Re-importing mailboxes. And repairing the hard disk. Without any luck.
I have mail set up to copy deleted mail to trash and auto delete anything older than 1 month. I have now changed this to never.
I can still see the newer mails on my server. How can I re-download these ? I only see an option to remove from server.

Then there's no way to get it back other than the small possibility of *quit using that Mac*, get an external big FW drive, Install Tiger tothat new drive, then you might try Data Rescue II...

Access exchange mailbox you have permissions to

From the mail application (predominantly iPad) it is possible to connect to my exchange mailbox, works like a dream, what I would like to do is also connect to a second mailbox on same exchange server that I do have permissions too. Is this possible, if so how?

You can probably use IMAP to connect to the shared account.
You need the username that belongs to shared mailbox.
If your usename is john, and the username jim has delegated access to his mailbox to you (and the domain name is corp) your login should look like this:
Username: corp/john/jim
Password: <your password>
This works for me in iOS and Snow Leopard, but sadly not in Lion/Mountain Lion.

Hi, i have a n85, i set up sync, mail part wasnt working so i tried exchange. now i found out i can add a IMAP mailbox instead, (which I would prefer to use). I added that fine. Now i cant remove the exchange mailbox. Ive been through the options and I cant find anything to get rid of it, its driving me mad if there is no way to remove it, is there a way to hard reset my mobile to factory settings? please hope someone can help, thanks in advance.

i officially hate nokia. the exchange thing keeps connecting me to T-mobile internet ( i think its my company push email which, if it is, i didnt want that). so its charging me money and i cant stop it. i cant delete the exchange profile.
I cant do a hard factory reset using the code, it says error \ failed etc.
i tried reset through the options but it said i had active connections open. i removed the simcard and did reset from options, but all my calender and email are still there!!! its driving me mad, i might return my phone and get a different brand. (im not on a contact, i actually paid the full price for this) for such a good phone why make menu options so gash?
i dont expect any replys, as i actually dont beleive there is a resolution. just a case of badly programmed software.
