Mail displays text as .htm attachments

Machine is set to Rich text.
This only occurs in files sent from our PCs (specifically a signature with a jpeg logo in it).
The jpeg shows up fine with a text.htm attachment next to it.
On my 10.5.5 machine, the signatures from PCs come across fine.
On this 10.4.11 machine, the sigs from the 10.5.5 come across fine.

Two things.
1. My guess this happens with friends using Outlook (express) ?
not your problem, but their email client. micro$oft programming at it's best.
2. Mail -> Preferences -> Composing
what is your message format set at? Plain text or Rich Text?
My guess you have it set to Rich Text. Switch to Plain text, and see if that helps.

Mail displaying text but links no longer work in emails?

Mail no longer shows any working links in emails, all working fine untill a few days ago.
Now wen I get an email with a link to a website it is no longer underlined so can't click it to bring me to the page.
Same is also thrue for my iPhone as well as iPad.
My google account is not affected and works fine.
Any ideas? Has Apple turned it off?

Mail saving text attachments with DOS line endings

dear all,
i just noticed that Mail saves text attachments with DOS line endings (CR+LF), even if the original contains UNIX line endings (LF). how can i disable this behaviour?

Using Automator, one can make a Desktop application that simulates dos2unix.
The Automator application shown here, will prompt the user to choose one or multiple (using command key) text files, and will then use Perl to process each file in-place, replacing the carriage return-line feed pairs with just a line feed. I tested this on a folder of text files where each file had more than 1 CRLF pair. Afterwards, there were only LF. The last thing this application does is slide out an OS X notification with processing status and number of files affected. I borrowed, and adapted the Perl block from Stack Overflow.

Can Mail display an icon to show me messages that have attachments... I have tons of emails organized... sometime I have to find an attachment and I have to key through each message to see it there is an attachment.
Is there a way to just show me like entourage or other programs do?

Check under the View menu for an Attachment option and select it. That should place a new column in the message browser window with an icon if there is an attachment.

ATT00001.htm attachments since 10.6.4

I have read a few posts about this being an issue but have not found a solution.
The most important part to me is that I have never had this issue until the recent 10.6.4 update.
Does anyone know WHY my file attachments are now sending out as html files and HOW I can fix this? Some have proposed that this problem is with Outlook. I can verify that my issue is not. I can go in to my SENT messages folder and see the same ATT00001.htm attachments. Although, as far as I can tell, this issue is only with my exchange account. I also have me.com and gmail.com accounts that I don't appear to have an issue with.

This is indeed almost certainly an Exchange issue; unless you've changed your settings, your Sent mail is on the Exchange server. The Mail-Exchange interaction immediately splits any text after an included attachment into a separate attachment, so it will appear that way in the Sent mail. Most likely this didn't crop up before (if indeed it didn't and you just didn't spot it) is that previously you were attaching things at the end of your messages and didn't have any text after the attachment.
The workaround for this is to make sure your attachments are at the end of your email, below any text. There's a setting under Edit -> Attachments where you can enforce this. Other than that I know of no fix, and Apple doesn't acknowledge this as their bug to fix.

Safari does not display text on some sites.

I am running OSX 10.10.2 and Safari 8.03
Some sites I visit do not display text at all.
For example: This site (http://neflin.org/) looks fine in Chrome, Firefox, whatever. But in Safari, it has no text at all. See below.
Mail is having difficult with some text in html email too.
I have rebooted, reset the PRAM, deleted preferences and turned off extensions. I checked the Guest account and created a new account and in all cases the problem persists.
I have validated fonts in Font Book, restored standard fonts and looked for duplicates. Nothing.
Flash and Java are up to date.
Any thoughts?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Uprgrad to ios7 calender won't display text entered. the appointment entered is there becauwse it alerts me to appointments entered

Calender won't display text entered for appointments.
The appointments are there as the phone alerts me as requested. Also the appointments are synced with icloud and Outlook on my computer.
Any appointments entered in computer do not show on phone but are there.

I've managed to fix this!
In case it's helpful to anyone encountering this problem, here's what I did.
I went into the preferences (through the Calendar app, not the System Preferences - didn't want to remove the entire account info, in case I encountered problems getting my email to link again), clicked on the Account tab and removed the Exchange account (by clicking the "-" (minus) sign below the listing of accounts). I then added an account (clicking the "+" sign) and re-entered the information. When asked if I wanted to add these settings for Mail and Contacts, I unclicked those options (bc they're already installed and work fine). Once I completed the information, I closed the settings window, and hit ⌘+R to refresh and all the Exchange appointments appeared.

English Mail Displays in Chinese

I received e-mail from Microsoft Skype Support in Asia.
The message is composed in English.
It displays on my iPhone in English.
But in Mavericks Mail, it displays as Chinese.
I have have no Chinese Language or Keyboards active in my System.
It is only messages coming from Skype Support that display in Chinese on the MacBook. And only on the MacBook. I am using GMail and the message displays in perfect Engish in my browser and gmail.com. Likewise, perfect English on the iPhone.
Knowing Microsoft, it is likely being sent from a Windows machine. But I suspect this is a Mac Mavericks GMAIL Mail Bug

Some weird bug in Mavericks Mail is mangling this message coming from Asia and displaying it in Chinese.
When I run the Chinese through Google translate, it is mostly gibberish.

Displaying Text in the Filter charectaristics in the portal

Hi Everybody,
I got a problem in the portal.
When i am selecting Filter values in portal, Some Filte Char´s just showing Keys, but not Text. But some of them are showing text too. So, I need to display text instead of Keys.
I tried to change Infoobject properties In Business Explorer Tab with Text. And also i did in the Business Explorer. Even I am not able to see text in the Filter Char´s. Is there any other way to diplay Text in Filter Char´s.
Please reply to me as soon as possible.

My friend has 2 email addresses for businesses.
He has invoices in folders for both, and wants to set up the Mac like this:
When he writes from one email address and attaches documents - he want the Mac always to go to the corresponding folder for that company of his. Same for the other email address...
Make sense?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

                 I have problem while displaying text field in ALV report which has more than 256 characters.
I'm using CL_SALV_TABLE for displaying alv.while concatenating my internal table holding all the text.but at the time of displying the report it's only displaying 256 characters.
           Can anyone guide me how to display more than 256 characters in ALV output using CL_SALV_TABLE.

All I see is this:

   transactions done online, over the phone or from your handset. Account management Text Alerts do not count against any Messaging allowances.

What phone?
You would need to disable data on the phone itself. You wouldn't do it online on your account.
Note also that text messages do not count toward your data allowance.

When I click on - View - Page Source, I want to edit with NotePad - note just display text in fancy colors

I like to edit my web pages easily,
- click to see html, edit it, (file name already there), save it
- hit restore on browser - see what I did -
Just changed from IE
which gave me NotePad, which is just fine for me
Just changed to FireFox
and it displays text in a non-editor,
can't edit and save easily
What to do??
Even worst - after installing FireFox
IE no longer clicks to NotePad
but that fancy non-editor :-(((
