Mail: DO NOT LOCALIZE - My Mail isn't there

I've just finished cloning my Macintosh HD drive to a larger drive.
I've encountered a few minor issues, except for this and an iTunes problem.
Someone else also had this issue about a year ago, but there's no resolution. My problem is the same exactly:
+I am no longer able to add or modify accounts in Mail. When I select preferences, at the bottom of the preferences window there is text between the "-" and the "?" saying <do not localize>. When I click on the "" to start adding an account nothing happens, the only way then to close Mail is to force quit.+
I start Mail, it starts. But my mail isn't there. The files are all present in myusername/library/mail but mail won't access it. I tried reloading the mail app with no results.
Anyone any thoughts at all, because I have no idea at this point.
I can't get mail to do anything because at the bottom of the preferences window there is text between the "-" and the "?" saying <do not localize>.
Thanks as always.

I would say that something went wrong with your cloning. Parts of the Mail.app seem to be missing. I would not trust this clone and better retry. Now it's just a few minor things, but what if you find out about other problems later on?
My advice would be to repair privileges and check your source volume. Then boot off another system so that your source is not in use. From there clone again using Carbon Copy Cloner and you should be fine.

  • ICloud mail does not reconnect in Mail application on MacBook Pro after disconnecting and reconnecting iPhone or after sleep

iCloud mail does not reconnect in Mail on my MacBook Pro after sleep or after disconnecting and reconnecting my iPhone. This only happens when I use my iPhone as a 3G-modem and not when I am on Wi-Fi. The only solution seems to be to quit the Mail-application and restart it again. Then Mail reconnects to iCloud.

    Hi horstp,
Given your description of the issue (works on other Macs), it may be worth trying to set up that account by itself in a new test user on the iMac to see if it can be isolated to a user-specific file. You may find the following article helpful:

Mail does not load the mail after opening with 10.10.3 on macbook air

Under Window in the Menu bar select Connection doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2 SMTP for sending.
If it's red, this usually means it's missing the password.
For Incoming messages, set in the account window, under Account Information tab.
For Outgoing (SMTP) messages, follow these steps:
    EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP:  select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
    Under Advanced Tab:
Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
Verify if your server require SSL.
User Name. Enter full email address  eg.  [email protected]
Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password  more info)
Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.
Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

  • Mail is not downloading e-mails from the server

Mail is not downloading e-mail from the yahoo server.  However, I am able to send e-mails out

My problem with mail concerns gmail and not Yahoo.  But about once a day I see an email come in on my iPhone or iPad and then I wait for it to come in on my MBP, running Mavericks 10.9.2 with all the updates current.  It never does come in.  I find that by exiting from Mail and then in a few seconds opening it again that the missing mail will come in.  Also, I found that by taking the gmail server off line and then right back on line that the missing email will come it.
I like to reply to my email from the MBP so that I have a record of the sent files.  Sending from the IOS devices doesn't let the MBP know about the sent file.
This never happens under IOS 7.1 on my iPhone and iPad.  So I suspect it is a problem with Mavericks.
I'm sure I'm not the only one having problems with this.   Is this a problem with Mavericks or with gmail?

Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?

  • Hello, I'm using Mountain Lion and mail does not leave the mails on the server, either on iCloud nor on other suppliers (orange). They are both using iMap protocol... Any place where I could change this ? Thanks for any hall; Christian

Hello, I'm using Mountain Lion and mail does not leave the mails on the server, either on iCloud nor on other suppliers (orange). They are both using iMap protocol... Any place where I could change this ? Thanks for any hall; Christian

Under what circumstances does mail "not leave the mails on the server"?
If you mean that you delete them (or move them out of the inbox) on one device and then find them not in the inbox on the server when you look from another device, that's how IMAP is supposed to work. (Note that the deletion or moving might be the result of rules you have set up in Mail.)
If you mean something else, please explain your issue in more detail.

Hi, I have recently updated my OS X to Maverick. when I did, my mail programme (Mail) will not open - for me only. There are 4 other users of the iMac, and they don't appear to have any problems.

First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • Iphone mail app not receiving e-mail from 1 sender

The Mail app on my iPhone 6/iOS 8.3 is not receiving e-mail from one sender sent to my Outlook e-mail account. This sender's e-mail address is "[email protected]". It is a notification of digital magazines available from Zinio. I know the mail app is not receiving the e-mail because Outlook 2013 on my desktop and Outlook.com do receive these e-mails. How can I get the mail app on my iPhone to receive these e-mails from this address?

Initially it sounds like something with your backup data caused the issue with your new device but if you restored your device again without using the backup and the issue still exists it wouldn't appear to be the issue at all. Since the problem seems to only be with one person are you sure it's not an issue on their end and with their network that is stopping you from receiving the messages? Have you tried *228 option 2 to see if that helps?

  • How can I get the payment e-mails sent to the second e-mail address (not the e-mail address of the primary administrator)?

We have two administrators: the primary and a second administrator. All the payment information goes to the primary e-mail address, but should go to the accounting department (the second e-mail address). How can we change this?

Make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account.  Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox.  If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.
If this isn't working for you, contact iTunes store support for assistance: https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Mail does not see e-mail in mailbox

    Hi there,
I have three e-mail accounts that are all set up successfully (I can send and receive mail) in Mail. Two of the three accounts are gmail accounts. One of the gmail accounts has about 20 e-mails in the inbox. I created this account in Mail and it promptly downloaded all 20 e-mails. As I was setting up the other two accounts in Mail, I was forced to remove the first one as part of some trouble shooting steps.
I've since added the first account back into Mail but now it will not download those 20 e-mails again. I can send and receive e-mail from all my accounts, and I can see the original 20 e-mails sitting in the inbox of my gmail account when logged in through the browser. But no matter what I do I can not get those same messages into Mail again. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here's what I've tried.
    1) Delete and re-create the account
    2) Mailbox->Get All New Mail
    3) Mailbox->Get New Mail->(foo)@gmail.com
    4) Mailbox->Rebuild
    I'm using Version 3.1 (914/915) of Mail.
    Thank you!

Any messages that are older the 30 days you should still be able to re-download manually by going to the webmail and forwarding the messages to yourself.
If that does not work then you may need to forward them to another e-mail account perhaps one provided by your isp.

  • Mail does not show all mails from the same sender

    Hello,
I have a problem with Mail - maybe an undiscovered bug? I play lotto on the free online platform www.freelotto.com. Each day freelotto sends me 6 mail receipts for any individual lotto game I took part of. The sender is always the same in each of these mails.
When I receive these mails on my iphone I got all the six mails I expected. The same on my ipad. But in Mail on my Mac (same settings) I got just four. Two mails are always missing!!! I have no idea why. The are not in the SPAM or any other folder (also not in the recycle bin). They are just missing at all. I also checked my mail provider but those two mails are not longer on the mail server. So Mail must have received them - but does not list them.
    What can I do?
    Regards,
         Meisinotti

  • Mail does not send out mail / builds loads of drafts of the same message

The problem described above I had for quite a while. Mail I send disappeared and I could find them back in the outbox under prefs/mail/outbox the outbox in mail.app was empty. Having to check your send items every time you have sen out an email is not an option :P
This made me follow a tip I found here to delete mail folder and the .plist files restart my MBP and reopen mail and let everything be restored from me.com
Unfortunately after a week problems are reoccurring.

No Mobile me works fine. And with fine I mean the problems with Mail.app are related to mobile me or leopard.
With leopard; mail got to do and task witch are only half implemented, adding a note to a task can only be done in calender.
Mobile me; sins the change of .mac to me I have been having issues
Unfortunately leopart and then especially mail and mobile me are both buggy.
Hope this will be addressed and throughout tested with a next update.
