mail application does not load current email. when i delete messages mail downloads olkder messages, not current or new.

If it doesn't download new mail, it is possible that you are not connected to the mail server. Try to check if you have internet connection on this phone.

Under Window in the Menu bar select Connection doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2 SMTP for sending.
If it's red, this usually means it's missing the password.
For Incoming messages, set in the account window, under Account Information tab.
For Outgoing (SMTP) messages, follow these steps:
EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP: select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
Under Advanced Tab:
Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
Verify if your server require SSL.
User Name. Enter full email address eg. [email protected]
Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password more info)
Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.
Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

The questions about time was not only because of thinking about the Time Machine, but also possible impact on recognizing which messages remaining on a POP server (doesn't apply to IMAP) have been already downloaded. In the Mail folder, at its root level, in Mail 3.x there is a file named MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 that should prevent duplicate downloading -- some servers may not communicate the best with respect to that, and the universal index must certainly be involved in updating that index file. If it corrupts, it can inhibit proper downloading. However, setting the account up in a New User Account and having the same problem does not point that way, unless your POP3 server is very different from most.
That universal index is also typically involved when messages are meant to be moved from the Inbox to another mailbox -- in Mail 3.x the message does not move, but rather is copied, and then erased from the origin mailbox. That requires updating the Envelope Index to keep track of where the message is, and should keep track of where it is supposed to have been removed after the "Move".

Mac Mail will not load any emails, but Airmail works fine. What to do?

I recently purchased a MBP and did used Migration Assistant from my old MBP. Everything has worked fine except for Mail. Mail will launch and ask me to add accounts. I add an iCloud account and nothing happens, Mail does nothing and when I go to quit it won't, preferences is greyed out, and I have to force quit Mail. Internet accounts are in order. I even went so far as deleting them all and adding them all back in. Launch Mail and nothing is there.
I then did an internet recovery and installed 10.9. Same issue persists.
I took a chance and bought Airmail from the AppStore and it works perfectly. I know I can just use that but its bothering me that Mail does not work on my brand new MBP.
OSX wont let me delete Mail to try and reinstall.
Thoughts? I really dont want to wipe the disk and start from scratch.

Thanks, turns out I got a virus somehow. BWContextHandler32.exe is reporting itself to my firewall as the game BulletStorm, which I do not have, and somehow attached itself to Firefox and probably IE as well. I figured it was bogus so I blocked it. Still not sure why it just started blocking Firefox. I was denying access to it for a couple days, darn procrastination, and Firefox was working fine. Now I just have to get rid of it...I really hate windows sometimes...

Try completely turning off your phone and then turn it back on. Fixed the problem for me.

Mail does not load completely

When I open Mail, it pretends to open, but:
1) I cannot see the viewer without clicking "New Viewer Window"
2) When I do it allows me to select mail/RSS items, but the viewer just reads "Loading" and never loads
3) It does not retrieve any new mail/RSS messages
4) When I tried to delete the last few messages (in case they caused the problem), they appear to be deleted, but only until I click on another folder they reappear.
5) Trash appears empty, when I don't think it should be.
6) I have to force quit.
I think this might have started when I closed the Macbook cover while it was loading new Mail. Also, this started just yesterday before I upgraded to 10.5.3 today, which I hoped against hope it might help.
I've searched forums the Net over. Help!

Mail does not load mail screen

I upgraded as MBP form 10.6.8 ro 10.7.4 via image(I have done this many times). When you open mail for the 1st time, it does a conversion of all the mail boxes. At that point mail typically, loads the screen with all of your mail boxes, etc. That screen never loads. Mail Preferences do not load when you choose them. I can create a new mail message but then can not see the screen.
Where are the mailboxes and pslists kept for a users mail account in Lion???

Mail does not load- bad version??

All was working (including mail) yesterday. Today I had a hang of some kind where the machine would not wake up. The keyboard was not a problem, even though it seemed dead (did not wake up when hitting any key, mouse does not wake in Lion, grrr!).
Had to reboot the MacPro with Power button (first time in quite a while). After that, restart OK. However opening Mail was an issue. Got the screen attached and no idea why. Here's what I tried so far:
Cold Restart (see above).
Boot from backup system disk (HD OS X 10.7). Rebuild with Disk Utility,start up volume. Found errors- extended attributes. Fixed Errors and verified OK. Check partitions, many errors related to User 0 and User 501 (where it should be User 0) were 'fixed'.
No joy when rebooting in the drive and User.
Alternate user uses same apps. Tried anyway on the chance that a User preference setting was the problem (i.e., com.apple.mail.plist resides in User Folder). Still no joy, same message.
Found certain other third party app (Find Any File) that fails (due to an Exception error). Most Mac apps seem OK, except for Calendar which will not load.
Found many errors noted in Console System log related to mail accounts- prove I wasn't dreaming and that Mail did run OK.
So right now Ihave a TIme Machine backup but no clue as to what to restore and when it actually went , nor why. Any hints?

After years and years of working flawlessly, Mail won't start.
Upon launching this error message appears: "Mail quit unexpectedly" with a whole problem detail.
......and, by the way, Software Update won't launch either.

In Finder, hold down the option/alt key while selecting Go from the Finder menu bar. Select Library. or select Go to Folder and paste in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Select Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

Nokia C3: Mail does not load

When selecting Mail, it just keeps on getting updates for hours. It's not loading. Please help.

This happened to me initially with firmware version 3.36. The phone attempted to use GPRS or EDGE over WLAN even when I told it not to. . I tweaked the settings as described in this thread and eventually every feature started to work.

Lion Mail preview not loading / showing emails

After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion, the new Mail program is not working correctly.
It appears many of my messages (in the inbox, sent, drafts) only have the email address and header, and don't have any text in the actual email....so in the preview pane, it just says loading....and nothing loads. I have seen others postings similar problems online. I've tried some of the solutions, none worked.
I can send and received new emails - and they show up fine in the preview pane.
All the emails in mailboxes I've created On My Mac in mail are fine.
How do I get all my emails in the inbox, drafts and sent to show up correctly?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I did not have any luck with the rebuild mailbox command, or other solutions posted online, so this is what I did to restore my missing mail:
1) run time machine so I have a backup of my current Lion Mail programs data.
2) deleted all the messages (inbox, drafts, sent, etc.) that would not show anything in preview window. Since I had sent and received a number of emails after installing Lion....and these new emails showed up fine in preview, so I did not delete them.
3) opened up time machine backup to a date just before I did the Lion upgrade, and then restored the Mail programs data folder (users>library>mail) to my desktop. This gives me a copy of the Mail program data files (all my emails) before the Lion System/Mail upgrade. Then opened the appropriate mailbox subfolder folder (from the restored mail folder on my desktop), such as the inbox, and then opened the messages folder or folders in the inbox (there may be several and they may be buried in numbered folders). The message folder(s) will have your emails (the emails will have numbers for names). Then I just option dragged (copied) the email messages and dropped them in my Lion Mail programs inbox, and now my inbox has all my missing messages. Did the same for the drafts and sent emails. So now I have all my mail and they show up when previewed. Since the messages in my other mailboxes were fine, I did not need to delete and replace them.

Parental Controls for Mail does not present all emails to approver

Those of you who use Parental Controls to manage your children's use of email via Mail know that you can restrict emails they receive to ones sent by people on a whitelist, only. If someone not on the whitelist sends a message, it should be first sent to you for approval, after which it is let through to your child in Mail.
That's the theory. Putting this into practice I sent messages from my various email accounts to my son's email address. None of those that weren't on the whitelist got through--that's good. However, I received permission requests for only two of those messages. The one sent from my work account simply disappeared--that's bad.
Do any of you have a sense of how robust this part of Parental Controls is? I did file a bug report on this, by the way.

Mail does not load all the e-mails showing on Web Access to ICloud

When i look at my Me account via ICloud there are sometimes e-mails which do not show when i look at my inbox via the Mail application - it doesn't seem to be related to mails from a person or company, as when i look from one sender some will show and others will not. I have the Mail options as Expand all Conversations, but it still shows as a problem - does any one else have this or know how to fix it?

The issue might be related to the OLE DB driver. Which OLE DB Provider do you use? If you use the Microsoft JET 4.0 OLE DB Provider, try the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB Provider instead. You can get this provider by installing the 32-bit
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.
In addition, you can recreate the OLE DB Connection Manager and the OLE DB Source component instead of using the existing ones.

New BT Mail does not show my email from my sub-acc...

Since I have been moved to BT Mail from BT Yahoo, my sub-account hasn't been moved as well. I have only just found I haven't had all the emails from that account. I can't find out how to add it on. Can anyone tell me (please explain fully as I am not technical) how I can do this, or if it is even possible?
