Mail does not load mail screen

I upgraded as MBP form 10.6.8 ro 10.7.4 via image(I have done this many times). When you open mail for the 1st time, it does a conversion of all the mail boxes. At that point mail typically, loads the screen with all of your mail boxes, etc. That screen never loads. Mail Preferences do not load when you choose them. I can create a new mail message but then can not see the screen.
Where are the mailboxes and pslists kept for a users mail account in Lion???

Under Window in the Menu bar select Connection doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2 SMTP for sending.
If it's red, this usually means it's missing the password.
For Incoming messages, set in the account window, under Account Information tab.
For Outgoing (SMTP) messages, follow these steps:
EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP: select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
Under Advanced Tab:
Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
Verify if your server require SSL.
User Name. Enter full email address eg. [email protected]
Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password more info)
Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.
Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

Since 7.1.2 mail does NOT retrieve mail in background and notify

After updating to ios 7.1.2 and having to do a complete reset and restore from backup, mail does NOT retrieve mail and notify me that a new message has arrived.
In the past (and with every version of the OS until 7.1.2) mail would vibrate when a new message arrived - I did not have to open the mail app and wait for the download.
What is the fix? In the past, mail was not in notification center - I don't want to see a badge or other on screen listing of the message that has arrived, only have the phone vibrate when a new message arrives.

Of course - have an open case with Apple support as well. Co-workers are receiving notifications, IOW, when mail is received their phone will buzz (if in silent or vibrate mode) or ding or similar.
I have to actually open the mail app and only then will it grab email and 'notify' me it's been received.
And yes, configuration is set to push - meaning the e-mail server will push it out to the clients immediately,

If it doesn't download new mail, it is possible that you are not connected to the mail server. Try to check if you have internet connection on this phone.

Try completely turning off your phone and then turn it back on. Fixed the problem for me.

Apparently, Mail sometimes fails to remove messages from the server when Remove copy from server is set to Right away -- don’t know why.
I can only guess Mail sometimes has problems communicating with the server, and precisely because the setting is Right away, never tries again. I’d try changing the setting to After one day or When moved from Inbox, and see whether that makes a difference.
Also, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Have you checked whether Thunderbird does remove the messages from that server?
BTW, woodie is wrong. It’s true that Gmail ignores any requests to delete messages from the server made by a POP client, but it doesn’t let the same messages to be downloaded more than once via POP either. Gmail just doesn’t work like a normal POP server would.

Map does not load and screen stays partially blank

There is a link on a website that I use for work that loads a map on a new tab. That link was working fine with the previous version of Firefox. But ever since I installed the latest Firefox version available, the link leads to a new tab with partial information but the map does not load and the area where it was supposed to load stays blank. Refreshing the page does not solve the situation.

if you are using mapquest -- i had the same problem. i simply reinstalled firefox 3.6 and uninstalled version 4.0. the popup function was restored.

Mail does not load- bad version??

All was working (including mail) yesterday. Today I had a hang of some kind where the machine would not wake up. The keyboard was not a problem, even though it seemed dead (did not wake up when hitting any key, mouse does not wake in Lion, grrr!).
Had to reboot the MacPro with Power button (first time in quite a while). After that, restart OK. However opening Mail was an issue. Got the screen attached and no idea why. Here's what I tried so far:
Cold Restart (see above).
Boot from backup system disk (HD OS X 10.7). Rebuild with Disk Utility,start up volume. Found errors- extended attributes. Fixed Errors and verified OK. Check partitions, many errors related to User 0 and User 501 (where it should be User 0) were 'fixed'.
No joy when rebooting in the drive and User.
Alternate user uses same apps. Tried anyway on the chance that a User preference setting was the problem (i.e., com.apple.mail.plist resides in User Folder). Still no joy, same message.
Found certain other third party app (Find Any File) that fails (due to an Exception error). Most Mac apps seem OK, except for Calendar which will not load.
Found many errors noted in Console System log related to mail accounts- prove I wasn't dreaming and that Mail did run OK.
So right now Ihave a TIme Machine backup but no clue as to what to restore and when it actually went , nor why. Any hints?

Mail does not load completely

When I open Mail, it pretends to open, but:
1) I cannot see the viewer without clicking "New Viewer Window"
2) When I do it allows me to select mail/RSS items, but the viewer just reads "Loading" and never loads
3) It does not retrieve any new mail/RSS messages
4) When I tried to delete the last few messages (in case they caused the problem), they appear to be deleted, but only until I click on another folder they reappear.
5) Trash appears empty, when I don't think it should be.
6) I have to force quit.
I think this might have started when I closed the Macbook cover while it was loading new Mail. Also, this started just yesterday before I upgraded to 10.5.3 today, which I hoped against hope it might help.
I've searched forums the Net over. Help!

When selecting Mail, it just keeps on getting updates for hours. It's not loading. Please help.

This happened to me initially with firmware version 3.36. The phone attempted to use GPRS or EDGE over WLAN even when I told it not to. . I tweaked the settings as described in this thread and eventually every feature started to work.

After years and years of working flawlessly, Mail won't start.
Upon launching this error message appears: "Mail quit unexpectedly" with a whole problem detail.
......and, by the way, Software Update won't launch either.

In Finder, hold down the option/alt key while selecting Go from the Finder menu bar. Select Library. or select Go to Folder and paste in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Select Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

Mail does not load all the e-mails showing on Web Access to ICloud

When i look at my Me account via ICloud there are sometimes e-mails which do not show when i look at my inbox via the Mail application - it doesn't seem to be related to mails from a person or company, as when i look from one sender some will show and others will not. I have the Mail options as Expand all Conversations, but it still shows as a problem - does any one else have this or know how to fix it?

The issue might be related to the OLE DB driver. Which OLE DB Provider do you use? If you use the Microsoft JET 4.0 OLE DB Provider, try the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB Provider instead. You can get this provider by installing the 32-bit
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.
In addition, you can recreate the OLE DB Connection Manager and the OLE DB Source component instead of using the existing ones.

Mail does not load as quickly as it used to?

Why doesn't mail work as well as it used to? It can take 15 minutes when you skip from one account to another, sometimes longer, forcing you to quit mail and restart it.This is a big step back for those of us who depend on efficient and fast email. -d

Quit Mail.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, copy the text on the line below into the box that opens, and press return:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. If you get a warning that the file is in use when you try to empty the Trash, log out and log back in.

Mail does not collect mail

So I have Leopard running on my MacBook, and still Tiger on my iMac; haven't decided yet which one I will use in the future to collect my mail. The MacBook is handy, so I read my mails most of the time in the living. But I want these mails also retrieved by the iMac, later on.
I have various e-mail addresses but they are all forwarded to my DotMac account, so I can check easily when I am abroad and I do not have the MacBook at hand. (I use the DotMac account as a Pop-account, not an IMAP).
The strange thing is that mails which have been retrieved by the MacBook, later on are not retrieved by the iMac. (Of course I have unchecked the square 'delete mail from server after collecting' ).
Anyone an idea what I am doing wrong?
