Mail does not open after upgrade

Hi,
I just upgraded to 10.7.1 and immediately tried to use everything. All seems fine except Apple Mail does not open.
Once launched i get a window that says you have to upgrade exsiting mail, once i press continue it says hold on may take a few minutes and the box vanishes not to ever appear again.
Have tried this a few times now without any luck of opening my Mail
Thanx in advance for the help.
Zeus

ok so it seems like this issue just got sorted, i managed to open the App and most of my mail has loaded.
Just some of the folders containing emails with rules has not been upgraded, hence i have lost a lot of the emails that were offline.

  • HT1338 Mail does not open after software update?

My MacBook just updated with OSX 10.6.8 buildK549.  Now my Mail does not open. I get a message that the mail version 4.5  1084/1065 is not compatible with the OSX.  There was a new mail icon in the apps file but it did not open. Any suggestions?
    How do I reinsatll Mail?
    Thanks

It's giving you that message because the update changed Mail from version 4.5 to 4.6 and it's seeing the 4.5. The part of the update that was meant for Mail failed because it couldn't find Mail where it was looking for it.

  • Mail does not open after IPhoto compose.

I want to email photos from IPhoto 7.1.3
I hit the email button, make the appropiate choices, hit the compose button.
The application prepares the photos for email and then... nothing.
The mail application (3.2) does not open on a new message page with photos attached.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If resetting the email preferences to Mail try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto and try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Mail App Not Opening After Upgrading to Yosemite

I upgraded to Yosemite this morning from Mountain Lion. Everything seemed to go well until I clicked Mail for the first time. The migration process started, but the app never opened and will not open. I immediately get a crash dialog and that's it. I click reopen and get the dialog box saying, "The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quite while reopening windows." I can do this over and over again. I've read the other threads, but they are not helping me.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • ITunes Store does not open after upgrading to 10.6

My Intel iMac running 10.6.8 will not open the iTunes store after I upgraded iTunes to 10.6.  The iTunes store page is simply white with "iTunes Store" centered on the screen.  My iPhone and iPods are not recognized but all other functions of iTunes do work.  There are no error messages.
I have downloaded a new version of iTunes to no avail.
    Any ideas?

"The procedure point CVimagebuffercreatecolorspacefromattachments could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreVideod.dll."
Taken at face value, that's indicating trouble with one of your Apple Application Support program files. (iTunes needs a properly functioning AAS in order to work correctly.)
What Windows operating syatem are you using, g? If it's Vista or 7, do you have a 32-bit version or a 64-bit version?

The only window that opens is the "send" window from the pull down window and she cannot send and to close the Mail program we must force quit. While I am at it I have am unable to use my "f" numbers with my new iMac 24. Any thought there? I havet the full key board not the small keyboard with the fn key.

  • Skype app does not open after upgrading to Windows...

Just had my laptop updated from windows 8 to 8.1, and I'm having the same problem now.
All windows updates are installed. Is there something else I should do?

I had this same problem on a new computer with Windows 8.1 which I received for Christmas. Skype for modern windows worked fine at first but after a Windows 8.1 update, Skype just flashed it's opening screen and then returned to the metro screen. Fortunately all this happened in a straight line sequence with no other intervening operations in between which of course strongly narrows down the causes.
After restarting, etc. with no luck, I looked at what was updated. Most of the updates were for MS Office however two were for Windows 8.1. I decided to uninstall these one at a time to see which, if any, had an effect.  The first to be uninstalled was KB3003667 and bingo Skype worked again !  This update apparently involves adding additional support for other cameras and indeed some of the user comments on this issue involved a problem related to the camera.  So check to see if you have this update installed and try uninstalling it.

Actually, wasting bandwidth is a waste of people's resources who offer to help here. You posted and got answers to your post. What you thought of that would be better (for you) was posting it in every corner of AD that might get read would give you a response 30 nanoseconds faster than posting once. So read your answer and enjoy your computer.
All you need to do is post in the right forum section, and wait for a response. It will come unless nobody has a clue which rarely occurs.
